The food was great, the servers and managers are so kind. great service, very clean and fast.

It has been a very long time since we have dined in this location. We recently did takeout from them and for the reason that I'm giving them four stars instead of five is because of the delay in getting my order and their host staff not seeming at all interested in the four or five people who are also waiting for pick up orders. The host staff spent more time talking about their relationships to each other, than actually engaging or interacting with customers who are waiting for their orders. The estimated pick up time for my order was 7:23 PM. I arrived at 7:20 PM and was told that my order was not ready. At 7:33 my order was still not ready and I requested an update on the status of my order. At about 745 I was actually able to walk out of the location with my order. I understand when the kitchen can get behind, but if you can't keep up with pick up orders, then turn them off and don't give it as an option online. Outside of that, the food was very delicious. I ordered the chicken curry, which is a little spicy, but the flavor was really good with the fried chicken. And because I got the dinner option, it came with a small salad. My husband got the beef fried rice and it was good. We appreciated that they seem to put more meat in their beef fried rice than before. The one thing I will say about this location your portion sizes when you dine in are definitely larger than when you do takeout. We've ordered the same thing both dining in and takeout and have noticed a pretty big difference in the portion size. read more

Terrible time management, terrible customer service, and absolutely terrible management. Based on the way the situation was handled, I would have a very difficult time recommending this restaurant to anyone. Absolutely unacceptable experience at Aji Sushi Teppan in Winter Garden. We had a 6:30 PM reservation, yet the hibachi chef did not come out until 7:30 PM. What exactly is the point of taking reservations if customers are going to sit there for an entire hour waiting for the experience they reserved? The delay was bad enough, but the way management handled it was even worse. After waiting an hour, we politely asked to speak with the manager to see whether anything could be done regarding the bill because of the ridiculous wait. Instead of acknowledging the situation, apologizing, or even pretending to care about the customer experience, she sternly told us, "We do not do discounts," and then stormed off. That response was completely unprofessional and honestly insulting. We weren't asking for something unreasonable--we were asking management to acknowledge that making a reservation and then being left sitting around for an hour is unacceptable. A competent manager would have at least apologized, explained what happened, or offered some type of accommodation. Instead, we were treated like we were the problem for bringing it up. If you're going to charge people for a premium hibachi dining experience, then provide one. Don't take a 6:30 reservation, start the experience at 7:30, and then have management act irritated when customers aren't happy about it. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants ever but Saturday night my boyfriend and I were seated then not acknowledge by any staff for 30 minutes.... I watched many servers stand in the back corner across from me for long periods of time and many who passed us without saying anything. A very nice manager then came up to us asking if we were helped and then took our order when we said no. Everything was fast and efficient after that and we seemed to have an actual server after that point but she didn't introduce herself or say anything to us. Overall super weird like did everyone just think we were waiting on food and decided not to order drinks?? Food quality has gone way downhill. My family has been ordering takeout from Aji for the last few years since moving to winter garden. Never again. After making us wait for over 30 minutes after the order was supposed to be ready, once we get home my children wouldn't eat their miso soup which they normally love. I try some and it was essentially water. I tried my beef yakisoba which to my surprise was inedible rubber. It used to be amazing, but we noticed the quality has dropped off the last few months. I never call restaurants to complain, but felt like management needed the feedback given the food quality has never been this bad. In speaking to the manager, she asked that we bring back the food for inspection and was extremely defensive. She said "this is filet mignon, I saw the order come in just this morning". We suggested that she take a bite prepped from her kitchen, she understandably declined. They can keep the $10 voucher on a future meal offered to "keep me happy", my family of 6 will not be returning. read more

This is my first time visiting this restaurant. The food and service are good. My review, however, is negative due to a problem I encountered with one of the rolls I was eating: the Volcano Roll. In the middle of one of the rolls, I chewed on a small rock that almost broke my tooth. I asked the waitress, and she said it was a sesame seed, but what it looks like is a piece of black, hard stone that got into the rice. The restaurant's policy is not to change the food or stop charging for it if the dish is almost entirely consumed. The manager came, but it was also not possible to reach an understanding with her or obtain any compensation for the small rock in the middle of one of the Volcano sushi rolls. I do not recommend this restaurant, since the manager does not care what is said or explained to her; she only repeats like a parrot the restaurant policy regarding the percentage (%) of food that must be present for a dish to be returned or replaced with another. So people, take care of your teeth, because if one breaks, it will be much more expensive to repair said tooth than the $16 that the Volcano sushi roll costs. This place is just consistently delicious! I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet. I've been sick, so I ordered sushi to take home from here. The presentation and taste is just as good in the takeout options. They packaged it so nicely with garnishes, it was like I was in the restaurant. While I most recently ordered in, I can say from eating in the restaurant multiple times, the service is always good! This atmosphere is a bit more upscale than some sushi places. This is a sit down, nice place. You won't be scoffed at for wearing a tshirt, but you can definitely dress up and not feel overdressed. I used to think the prices here were too expensive, but with prices rising everywhere, I'd say it's evened out quite a bit. Disappointed by how a safety issue involving my child was handled. While dining here, a splash of hot grease hit my young daughter's arm as the hibachi chef was placing food on her plate. She immediately reacted in pain. The chef did apologize, which we appreciated, but my concern was ensuring her injury didn't worsen and that we had proper documentation in case medical attention was needed later. I calmly asked for an incident report or a brief written statement confirming that if her burn developed or required a doctor visit, the restaurant would cover any associated costs. I wasn't demanding anything unreasonable -- just basic accountability. Unfortunately, management refused to provide anything in writing. I recorded the conversation for my own documentation. After watching it back, I was shocked at how passive-aggressive and dismissive the manager, Salina, became--especially when I asked her to simply acknowledge on video recording that they would cover medical expenses if needed. Her tone shifted, and her attitude was unprofessional and increasingly rude, which only added to an already stressful situation involving my child. This wasn't about creating a scene. It was about making sure my daughter's health was taken seriously and that the business was willing to stand by their verbal assurances. Sadly, we were left with no peace of mind and no formal acknowledgment -- just a "trust us" approach that's unacceptable when it comes to a child's injury. We won't be returning, and I hope management reconsiders how they handle incidents like this. Families deserve better -- not just in safety, but in how they're treated when something goes wrong. The review is based on our takeout order for 3 rolls....the Kimono Roll, the Rock & Roll, and the T-Rex Roll. The total for the above meal was $53 and the rolls are a decent size. I don't have the best experience when dining in...there is just something about the energy and service that are a little uninviting....hence the reason for takeout tonight. The eel on my roll seemed much slimier than other restaurants and the shrimp tempura was fried extremely hard to the point where it was merely the breading only in some pieces. I would love to see this restaurant succeed in winter garden village. Not sure I will be back anytime soon, but if you've never tried it, I encourage you to do so to form your own opinion. This place was amazing find! I came here on Saturday evening, was seated at 8p. The servers and host were very nice. The establishment was pretty full but no reservation was needed. I ordered the vegetables and tofu hibachi $21 and my partner ordered steak hibachi. ($26). For drinks I ordered a tropical martini ($10) which did not disappoint. Check was $70 total... So much food I couldn't eat it all so I took it home for later. I rate 9/10 bc there's always room for growth right? great place for family time or date night. read more

Aji has been our "go to" for teppanyaki for several years, but our most recent experience was extremely disappointing. Six of us spent $400 for a lackluster cooking performance (the chef was just going through the motions with zero enthusiasm) and the server had too many tables to be attentive. The food was bland. I've driven past Aji for many years now and had yet to visit. I'm so glad we finally went. They had an abundance of sushi choices, but also Teppanyaki where the chef grills the food right at your table. We specifically went for sushi, so we didn't sit in the Teppanyaki room. I had the apple sake to start. It was amazing; so fruity and refreshing. You would never know it was alcohol. Each of us ordered two sushi rolls. They were HUGE, so they were very filling. Honestly, I cannot remember which ones I ordered, but they were delicious. LOL I know there was one with a spicy tuna component. The other was some shrimp tempura one. I loved them both. I'm so glad we finally went. I'd definitely return for sushi, and even to try to the Teppan menu. The pricing is about $20 less (per person!) than at the Japan pavilion at Epcot. read more

First impression when going in the restaurant was: wow, it's a nice place! Dark, gold theme inside. They separate the teppanyaki dining area and the normal dining area where you get sushi, sashimi, and other dishes. We arrived at 7pm without reservation, had to wait for 20 minutes for the normal dining. The letters on the sushi menu paper where you check the sushi you want are so small! It's dark inside, had to turn the flashlight on on our phones to be able to read it. We waited for the food for a long while, probably 45 minutes. Have some snacks before coming! I had Lava roll and Tango Mango roll. Hubby had Magic roll and Mama roll. They were not just look pretty, but also delicious! However the service was not so good. The waitress didn't speak loud enough, we could not hear her through her mask. She was not attentive, I had to ask for water refill. It was noisy inside, plus kids shouting behind us, we had to speak loud so we can hear each other. We will come back for the food and the teppanyaki! read more

Food was cold...at the hibachi station. This was such a bizarre experience for my family and MIL. My MIL has visited before and previously enjoyed the food, although mentioning that the service has never been quite *amazing.* For delicious food? Mid service, no problem! The problem is that the food was not delicious, left my partner retching in a nearby bathroom, and the service was not attentive. We experienced cold rice off the hibachi grill, old tasting noodles, burned scallops, and poorly seasoned meats :( Pros: The restaurant is super clean. This is the 2nd time I've been to Aji (first time was years ago, at ate the teppan hibachi table that time, did not review, but it was pretty good, as I recall). This time, stopped in on my own, on a whim, while out Christmas shopping, for an early-ish Sat. night dinner (was about 5pm). Decided to try the "bento box" (not really a bento box here, but similar offerings) with miso soup, teriyaki chicken, tempura veggies, white rice and the optional California roll (many choices to choose from for the 2nd main item to go with the chicken). Miso soup - pretty good, basic. Chicken teriyaki - Boring, bland but peppery, doused in teriyaki. Definitely not grilled as advertised, more like steamed and flavorless (again, except for the ridiculous amount of pepper sprinkled on top). Not like any chicken teriyaki (let alone bento box style) I've ever had. Tempura Veggies - 3 pieces (1 slice onion, 1 slice sweet potato, 1 chunk - and it was an end piece chunk of basic potato). Now I realize potatoes technically are veggies, but come on... who serves tempura potatoes?!? The sweet potato was tasty. I actually don't prefer tempura (unless shrimp), but every single protein offering on the dinner "bento box special" (4-6pm only Sats.) included tempura veggies - no other options for sautéed, and no substitutions. CA Roll (they did provide it rolled in roe, instead of sesame seeds)... 2 huge problems. First, it was served on the same very hot dinner plate with the rest of the food (I love hot food hot, but cold - or at least freshly prepared room temp sushi - should NOT ever be served on a a super hot plate!). Completely changed the flavor and ruined the CA roll. I mentioned to a server but was told "that's just how they do it for the dinner combo." I thought she would offer to replace it, but when she said, "Let me bring me you..." she was only offering to bring another plate to put it on, but it was too late, it was heated now. She didn't offer to bring a replacement, and quite honestly, I was so put off by the offering thus far, I just ate it and figured I won't be back. This meal was a loss. The ginger salad lettuce was quite fresh - and cold, served in a separate dish - duh), but whomever prepared it poured a gallon of ginger dressing on it. For party of 6, we had to wait 20 mins on Monday night. We had steak , chicken , scallop dinner with few rolls . Lychee martini was good , not very strong. This is the second time we have eaten at Aji Sushi and the first time we had a great experience. Our server was delightful and the quality of the sushi was great. Unfortunately after our experience tonight we will not go back and will not recommend it to friends., We went for Mother's Day and met friends. The service to start was good, however it went downhill from there. We were a party of 4 and our server forgot to put in one of the orders. When she delivered all the orders except for the one, she stated it would be out shortly. The three of us slowly ate our dinner while our server avoided us. We finally called her over and she apologetically shared she had forgotten to put in the missing order and it should be up soon. Well, our friends meal didn't come by the time we finished our meals and when we called the Hostess over she apologized and stated by the time it was entered there were other orders ahead of it. Interesting, right? If it was a forgotten order it should have been prioritized. She again apologized and when I told her we shouldn't have to pay for it, she got real snippy and short with us, and she stated, she would pay for it. We were shocked because we were being really calm and nice about it. We know that mistakes happen, however, the server was not upfront at first and the Hostess was just rude. Ordered off happy hour 4-6 at exactly 5:59 on the dot and I guess the waitress put the order in at 6:01 so whenever the check came out it didn't say happy hour so I asked to get it changed and the manager, Courtney, came over saying she can't change it and after I politely said I don't want to pay for what I didn't order she said she was calling the cops on me. Keep in mind this is over a $7 order... then she came back with the roll on happy hour on the check and threw it on the table and said pay, leave and don't come back. Aji is a must, the food and drinks are fantastic and surprisingly it's one of the very few sushi restaurants that serve thinly sliced yellowtail. The Yellowtail Firecracker is an all time favorite, I highly recommend. This place is very relaxing, my friends and I love the low lighting and slightly sophisticated atmosphere. The service here is also fantastic, the food is of great quality and reasonably priced. Great location with indoor and outdoor seating. Give it a try, I highly doubt you'll regret your experience! read more

Just had dinner here for the first time and I thought it was an overall good experience. We didn't have a reservation, but only had to wait about 20 minutes for hibachi seating. We tried to order a sushi roll to split for an appetizer but our host informed us the sushi kitchen was very busy and backed up, and could come out late. I really appreciated him letting us know that, but I did find that interesting considering it's peak dinner time on a Friday night and even the group next to us wanted to order sushi. I ordered the shrimp and my wife ordered the chicken and steak, but first the salad and miso soup came out. We weren't really fans of the soup and salad, however the rice, noodles and main course for each of us were very good. I will say that I've been to Benihana and Kobe, but this one takes the prize for most engaging and entertaining with our chef! It was a cool environment overall, and I'll be back again! read more

The hostess and waitress were both very friendly and even made some menu suggestions for our toddler. The food was horrible. We order a tempura shrimp kids meal, tempura shrimp and veggie appetizer, and 2 cooked sushi rolls. The rolls were thick with rice and very little shrimp, scallops and salmon. The salmon was sliced super thin to the point that it was translucent. The rolls were overpriced for the quality and amount of seafood. The shrimp were tiny and covered in tempura batter. It's close to home. Sushi quality was average. Wasn't aware of their Happy Hour. We arrived 20minutes before it was about to end. So we got a few orders in for the HH and regular menu. Surprisingly the rolls were decent for HH price. Salmon sushi was a little chewy and the conch didn't taste fresh. Our waitress was nowhere to be seen.
