We walk past Soulshi Lounge quite often when exploring downtown Winter Garden, so it's been on our list of places to try for quite awhile and I'm excited that we stopped to try it tonight! While you can't tell what the atmosphere is from the outside, it makes for a cute, intimate experience once you walk into the lounge. My fiance and I were sat in a cute little booth, with each of us seated on the same side which I personally loved! The interior decor was tasteful with dim lighting. It wasn't too busy for a Friday night, and the service was attentive and quick. We thought the prices were a little expensive, but as soon as we got the rolls we understood why -- the portions are big! Cucumber Salad: a great, refreshing starter! Delicious and lightly crunchy, we enjoyed this a lot. Honey Salmon Souljoy: this menu item caught my eye - brie, honey, rice and salmon. I love all of those things, but never had them all together and we were pleasantly surprised. Savory and creamy with a touch of sweet! Sea Fusion Roll: Krab meat, tuna, salmon, shrimp and avocado, topped with tobiko - simply delicious. Samurai Steak Roll: loved the mix of spicy tuna with the delectably steak on top! The texture of the steak was perfect. Octopus Nigiri: fresh octopus lightly brushed with sauce so it didn't even need soy sauce! I enjoyed this bite, it just had a tab bit more rice than I prefer with my nigiri but not a problem at all. So happy to have a wonderful, little sushi spot locally and we will be coming back again and again! They have such an extensive menu, so excited to try new items next time. read more

Stopped by for lunch with my parents because we were craving sushi in downtown Winter Garden. Overall, the experience was just okay for us. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful, but the nigiri had a bit too much rice for my taste, and the rice itself tasted slightly undercooked. That said, the salmon carpaccio with ponzu sauce was really good and probably my favorite thing we ordered. The ambiance is definitely a highlight though. We were greeted right away and seated immediately, which was a great start. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, helping us feel comfortable with our choices. They offer a wide variety of signature and specialty rolls. We ordered the Citrus Roll, Sea Fusion Roll, and Volcano Roll. Overall, they were good; however, in my opinion, they had a bit too much rice. I personally prefer less rice so I can better enjoy the flavor of the fish, but I understand that this can come down to personal preference. One roll that really stood out to us was the Honey Salmon! It was definitely a highlight of the meal. As an appetizer, we had the fried salmon croquette, which was good and a great way to start. To finish, we ordered the molten lava cake for dessert and it did not disappoint. We cleaned the plate! In terms of pricing, I felt that some of the rolls we ordered (aside from the Honey Salmon) were a bit on the pricier side considering the rice-to-fish ratio. I've had similarly priced sushi at other places with less rice, which better suited my taste. That said, we'd absolutely come back next time we're in Winter Garden. I can't recommend this place. Maybe it was because I ordered right before closing, but the spicy tuna roll was absolutely disgusting. It tasted strange, fishy (i.e.,) not fresh and I was genuinely concerned that I would get sick afterwards. I've never had spicy tuna this bad in 3 decades of eating sushi. What a fantastic hidden little gem in beautiful downtown Winter Garden! I've driven all over the city for Sushi and I didn't realize that I had fantastic sushi that was close to home. My son was home from college and he is my Sushi buddy and I have been wanting to check this place out. The rolls were fantastic and very filling. We ordered three in total. The ISG roll was by far the best. All of them were really good, but this was a stand out! Cucumber salad, refreshing, and amazing, the miso soup was also fantastic. This is a staple and you've probably had it at 1000 different restaurants, if you enjoy it, you should definitely give this a try because it was at the upper end of those that I've had. We stepped in to this restaurant just off the Main Street of downtown to see this beautiful Japanese decor. The booths are a little hard to get into. The chairs move and the tables have big legs that get in the way. However, once our food started to arrive we knew we had found a great new sushi restaurant. I love when restaurants have originality and we started with these salmon covered brie cheese that were so unique. I was not a fan of the consistency of warm brie and cold salmon but my partner loved it. We also had a spicy tuna roll that was full of tuna. Our last item was a summer roll. I highly recommend ordering this item. The flavors of mango and asparagus were so good. My only concern was the soy sauce. It does not put out very easily so easy to make a mess. My daughter loves sushi as do I so we had a pretty high bar to meet but I thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance and the service. The miso soup was really flavorful and haru maki was crispy and the flavors were comforting! We got the ocean wrap roll and the California roll (I know it's basic but there was no salmon roll for my 5 year old!). The presentation was so beautiful and the fish in the ocean roll was so fresh and colorful. I truly wish there was an option to get a salmon roll already on the menu without cream cheese in it. I noticed all of the salmon centered rolls had cream cheese and I'm not a fan. I prefer a more traditional Japanese approach to sushi! But we finished with the molten lava cake and we loved it! We weren't planning to come to SoulShi for dinner, but when our other plans fell through and we still wanted to get Sushi, this was the next closest option. Turns out, we lucked out. We both had a glass of wine and ordered the 7 piece Omakase Nigiri and Salmon Wrapped Rolls Special Course. The chefs made 14 pieces of what they wanted to make, which was awesome. It allowed us to try parts of 14 unique pieces rather than just have 7 of the same each. Service was quick and awesome! Cute date night excursion. I heard about this place and wanted to explore and it was packed. The wait wasn't bad, especially since you can walk around downtown winter garden. The decor inside is really sleek. We started with the honey salmon and salmon crunch souljoys. The brie in the honey salmon didn't thrill me, but the salmon crunch was good. We also had the truffle crunch and shrimp tempura rolls. They were really good, a lot of flavor. We added a yakimeshi, and it was ok. It was a light fried rice but didn't have the Japanese fried rice flavor to me. It was almost a Chinese fried rice taste, and I didn't see any shrimp. This stunning sushi lounge is on a side street in downtown Winter Garden. Inside the decor is absolutely beautiful. There are a lot of sushi rolls on the menu including standard traditional rolls but we decided to try the Signature Rolls as we thought they had some unusual ingredients and preparations. I'm glad we did because they were all delicious. I will say, the service wasn't that great but it was a young woman and you could tell this was probably her first server job so we were fine. For example, we asked for the Honey Salmon Souljoy as our appetizer and she actually brought it after the other rolls and we weren't quite sure if she had put it in to come out first. The food, however, was amazing! The Honey Salmon Souljoy was a ball of rice, wrapped with salmon, and then topped with melted Brie cheese, honey and orange. It was great! I had the Citrus roll which was a rectangular layered roll with rice, raw salmon, rice, torched salmon and then topped with lemon zest and truffle oil. Yum! My son got the Samurai Steak roll (spicy tuna roll with avocado topped with torched steak) and Dragon roll (salmon and cream cheese topped with sweet chili sauce) and they were both outstanding as well. Had to try for date night for our 10th wedding anniversary! Ample selection of sushi and other Japanese food items. Started off with gyoza and miso soup. Loved the specialty and standard rolls. The cookie was absolutely to die for! It was a creme brulee. Service was attentive, but the kitchen got backed up and it took some time for our second round of rolls to come out. We had some delicious sushi this evening at Soulshi, including a siumai made from shrimp, pumpkin, and coconut cream that was absolutely wonderful. Bruno was our server - nice guy, attentive but did not hover :-) The hostess was a very pleasant. We had "traditional" (i.e. no truffles) edamame, a seaweed salad, the shrimp "soulmi" (the siumai described above) and a nice Rainbow roll. Service was prompt. With one hot green tea, the total came out to be $50 before tip, and I was happy to tip a little bit over 20%. The other clientele were couples and groups comprised of people in their 20s to 40s, making us the oldest people in the place, but we felt quite at home and comfortable. My husband and I have been looking for a good mid-tier sushi restaurant in the area and decided to give Soulshi a try. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a young woman who seated us and ended up being our server. I am circling my mind trying to remember her name, I am so sorry but I cannot remember for the life of me! The restaurant is very cute inside, themed like a Japanese izakaya. After we were seated our server brought us our drinks and gave us some of her recommendations. One thing I noticed, I did not see much of if any alcoholic drink options listed on the menu. For appetizer, we ordered the salmon carpaccio and some tuna and yellowtail nigiri. The salmon carpaccio was amazing! The fish was fresh and the lemon zest added a lot of complexity to the flavor. They give you a large portion of carpaccio for the money. Our tuna and yellowtail nigiri were also great. The only downside was that the rice was either slightly undercooked or old rice from the day before. It was a bit hard and not the texture that is to be expected from sushi rice. The sushi rice aside, we decided to try a couple of rolls: rainbow roll, dragon roll, and the salmon and honey souljoy. All 3 rolls were exception in freshness and flavor. The rainbow roll was typical, but tasty. The dragon roll reminded me of a Kraft Rangoon with the Thai sweet chili on top. The souljoy salmon and honey was the big standout! Salmon wrapped around rice with honey and torched Brie cheese on top. The flavors here are unique, but worth a try if you are feeling like you want to try something new. We plan to give this place one more try in the near future. We hope the hard rice was just because they had an off-day and that the next time we dine here it will be 5/5 stars. read more

Soulshi is a much-needed addition to Downtown Winter Garden, which was lacking a great stand-alone sushi spot. The ambiance was perfect for a quick date night, and even though we visited just a few weeks after they opened, the service was impressively smooth for such a new restaurant. We ordered two rolls and the Salmon Souljoy with passion fruit. The Souljoy was a standout dish--unique, flavorful, and so memorable that I still crave it. The rolls were also solid, though I wish I remembered their names to try something new next time (no shade, just curious to explore more of the menu!). For dessert, we had the Local Seasonal Cookie, which was absolutely delicious but on the sweeter side--so much so that we couldn't finish it. Definitely worth sharing if you're not into that. There are still a couple of sushi spots on my list to try before declaring Soulshi my favorite, but if someone is looking for sushi in the Winter Garden area, I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat. This may just be my new sushi place. The restaurant seemed to be a little hole in the wall, that was very cute and quiet on the inside. Went in there on a Saturday around 1pm, place was very empty which was surprising. We were sat and greeted right away. Started with the truffle oil edamame, which was delicious. the seasoning was perfect and paired great with the edamame. We then ordered the soulshi roll, sleepy dragon roll and shrimp tempura roll.
