Breakfast stop from Ohio back to Indy, just 3 mi s. off exit 165a in Richmond. Cute little diner. About half a dozen counter stools and booths. I got my food to go since I had my dog in the car. Took about 15 min, but was brought out to me with a "thank you, my pleasure" nice service. I got the ham egg and cheese on an English muffin, and a small biscuits and gravy. Seems like I've been ordering these a lot at places lately! Food was plentiful. Muffin was just a tad scorched but not enough that I cared. Tons of ham on the sandwich. I would love to try this with bacon! Biscuits and gravy were also tasty. #yum #ReviewsByRL #NewToMePlace

Stopped here yesterday morning for a quick breakfast with a friend on a trip to Ohio. We stopped here because it had four stars on yelp! Those 4 stars were well deserved! The restaurant was busy enough that we sat at the counter. We were greeted immediately and we were able to order very quickly. The veggie omelette we shared was absolutely perfect made fresh and just enough. We both prefer dry toast without butter and it was delivered exactly as we asked and the Ryebread it was toasted was hot & tasty! When traveling this way again will probably stop here again

Aj's has everything my Ron Swanson-of-a-husband loves: simplicity, no-frills, diner coffee, and breakfast foods. It's a seat yourself kinda diner, pick a stool at their bar or a booth. Menus are simple, prices are affordable, and food is cooked to order and fast. We enjoyed a Saturday morning breakfast: Ham & cheese omelet with wheat toast and biscuits & gravy. Add a large OJ and bottomless black coffee and you're looking at less than $15 for two. The waitresses are friendly and the food is hot. Carry out available, as I saw a lot of carry-out orders being picked up. Customers were courteous of wearing masks when coming and going.

I love these locally-owned neighborhood diners! AJ's is that with friendly good service and a "seat yourself" atmosphere and a dining counter. The food was fresh and tasty, the people seemed to know each other. Small town America at its best. Recommend. Still has gum ball machine for kids.

This is a little obscure breakfast/brunch diner. And it is the perfect spot for both!! I've been trying to find a good breakfast spot in this area and this is it! The pancakes are spot on and the BLTs are yummy! The pancakes are a decent size nice and fluffy with a tender texture. If you are in the area and are looking for somewhere good for breakfast you need to try it out. You won't leave displeased. The service is fast and friendly! Now I want to mention the restaurant is self is small but you shouldn't have to wait too long however. And a tip for hash brown fans they aren't listed under the sides on the menu but you can have them just ask.

Stopped in for a late breakfast at AJ's. It's a no frills, old time diner with charming brick walls and old time photographs throughout. We had tasty omelets (lots of fillings) that came with nice chewy rye bread and English muffins. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Biscuits and gravy with an egg.

Definitely a popular place. I noticed many construction workers but also several families with kids. The menu was fairly simple: burgers, sandwiches, burritos, chili, salad. Customers line up at the counter to place their orders. There were several cheese options for the sandwiches and burritos. There was an extensive breakfast menu. I would probably return for breakfast, but I wasn't overly impressed with the burrito I ordered for lunch. When I ordered a burrito, and was asked what I wanted on the burrito I started with asking for beans and rice. That request earned a rather puzzled look from the employee, and he said they didn't have beans. I guess I had just assumed that if they had burritos on the menu they would have beans and rice to put in them. So I just requested cheese and chopped tomatoes, lettuce, black olives, salsa, and chipotle sauce. The burrito was fine. The food quality was average to slightly below average. For example, an employee opened a large bag of shredded lettuce in front of me and dumped it into the bin. I'm guessing other ingredients were prepackaged and pre prepped. Employees were friendly and obviously this place is a local favorite. Prices are very reasonable. I would give it another try for breakfast but wouldn't order another burrito.

I found this out after I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with no bun. My burger was cooked perfectly, bacon crisp and they let you choose your toppings like subway. It shares a location with Shell. There is sometimes a line at lunch, but it moves quickly. They serve up a great breakfast, so they offer breakfast sandwiches or lunch on the cloud bread. I have also called ahead and they have had an omelette waiting for me when I got there at the drive-through window which was fabulous, it is right off of the interstate so you could totally call ahead and this could be a super quick stop.

I had the cheese bread, which is incredible. (It's so difficult to choose between the cheese bread and the pretzel.) I tried the wrath burger. There is no 'meat taste' at all so get in here and give these a try. I had a feeling I would love it and I did. It's a large yet cozy venue with the number 5 featured prominently in assorted art as well as on the tables. The building is historic, lots of wood, brick and brass railings plus a stunning Victorian bar back. We ate at the bar which was very comfortable. Little sliding wooden trays to make it convenient for eating, then just move them out of the way when you're done. They have 10 or so craft beers on tap and a full bar. We had the opportunity to sample a couple brews and we both enjoyed our beer choices and the food. Prices were fair, and tax is included in the menu price. I really want to shout out our bartender/server. Didn't get her name but she had round glasses with eyeglass chain attached and was on the shorter side. She was very customer focused, answering all our first-timer questions, attentive, appropriately conversational, and definitely on the ball as she was handling tables too. Top notch service. About those railings: unless there's a special back entrance, the venue may not be wheelchair accessible. There are two or three steps at the entrance, and if you want the bar instead of booth or table, another three or four. Both have sturdy solid handrails. I do not fault them for this; probably the historic building is exempt, but just wanted to note it for anyone needing that info. All in all a five star experience and I hope to return soon.
