Popped into Cornelia for an overnight stay and decided to eat at AJ's and we were really impressed! We did the family meal deal which included a large salad, garlic knots, and a large pizza with 3 toppings. They were willing to accommodate our request for specific placement of certain toppings. We also order some garlic parmesan wings. The salad was fresh, crisp and refreshing. The ranch dressing was thick and tasty! The garlic parm coating on the wings was AMAZING!! I was dipping the knots in that yummy goodness, it was definitely something spectacular. The pizza was on point. Some of the best pizza I have had! Thin, crispy, gooey cheesy and foldable slices! It was really really good!! We even got a snickers chocolate cake to go and it was a nice treat. It was a tad drier than I'd prefer for cakes, but the kids smashed it all! We have been driving by AJ's for years and finally stopped in to give it a try. AJ's is a fairly large space with some comfortable booths. We were greeted and seated quickly. Actually I think it is self seating. Anyway a waitress came to our table fairly quickly. The menu is big. I really wanted to come here to get wings. We started with fried pickles, which are the disk variety. They were good. I like dry rub wings so was a little disappointed the garlic part wings had a buttery sauce. However they were good and were nicely well done. Limp wings are bad, these were not limp. I had the sausage calzone. Check out the photo, it's a reasonable size for one person. It tasted good, could have used some more sauce though. Megan had the Italian sausage sandwich. She liked it ok. It was odd to have sausage discs rather than links but that's how they do it. I would like to come back and try a pizza. read more

We always have a great experience here. The servers are the best team around; always friendly and prompt, The food is always on point. It's a great local hangout. The garlic knots are flavorful and delicious. The wings are great quality and are available in dozens of flavors and degrees of heat. Not sure about a flavor? They'll bring out a sample. Ordered an Italian sub to go and even showed our waitress the order that was text to me. It specifically said to toast the sub before putting the lettuce and tomatoes on it. I get home and have a sub with nasty wilted lettuce that appears to have been cooked and mustard which was not on the order. Last time there we got meatballs that were so nasty my husband gagged. I ordered a calzone with peppers, onion, sausage and mushrooms. The balance of cheese, sauce and ingredients was ideal. The crust was thinner than I am used to, but it was a pleasant surprise. First time coming to AJ's . Ordered carry out. Pizza was good. I also got the Florentine chicken calzone which I really liked. The buffalo pizza was good. I think they should consider ranch sauce with buffalo drizzle as using it for sauce makes the cheese weird. We will be coming back to try other items. read more

Pros and cons... Tried AJ's tonight (Saturday) about 5:50, for the first time. It was packed!! We are visiting, and wanted something casual but delicious. It was hard to find a parking spot but we got the last one a minute later. We walked in, and saw a sign that said "Please seat yourself". Hmm from my past experience with the restaurant industry, that is a hot mess for a slammed Saturday night... they need to hire a hostess. There were no tables, many people waiting, crammed in the small space by the front door, trying to stay out of the way of people leaving, while still watching tables like a hawk, to see if anyone was getting up... and jump on the table. It was stressful lol We almost left. We got a table after about 10 minutes, sat there w the dirty dishes and last person's check. It took a few minutes for a bus boy to come and clear it, and they were really nice and helpful. Soon after a waitress came, and she was very friendly and apologetic for the craziness. They cleaned the table, for us menus, waters, and let us know their wings deal for Saturdays. We studied the menu a minute, and I saw that the salad I was excited about-- the Buffalo bleu-- that I saw here on their Yelp-- was just taken off the menu 2 days ago lol. Nooooo... so it was back to the drawing board for me. I am trying to eat semi healthy and it's hard lol. It was very busy and they seemed short staffed. It took awhile for her to come back and take our order. And it took a bit to get someone's attention to let them know I was given a dirty fork for my silverware eek. They got me a new one. Our server was sweet, attentive, but stressed and too slammed. I felt bad for her and the others. We ordered: I chose the eggplant rollatini (the non breaded and non fried eggplant, rolled up w sauce and cheese and baked.) Sooooo good!! And it came w two garlic knot rolls (I couldn't resist one of them lol gah!) so good! And came w choice of a house salad or cesar salad. I asked if I could upcharge it to a side southwestern salad. She said yes ($2.50 more I think- perfect). It was delicious and really spicy! It had shredded spicy chicken, corn, black beans, tomato, shredded carrots, bell pepper, fried tortilla strips, and I drizzled on some of the spicy ranch it came with (you can choose other dressings also). The dressing is very spicy. It was filling and so great! My son ordered the kids Alfredo fettuccini pasta. It comes w one garlic knot. It was a smaller kids portion. He said it was good and ate it all. But it wasnt fettuccini noodles lol. More like a thick spaghetti ($6.50). I loved that they had some amazing entree meals, not just pizza, pasta, wings. They had a variety of gourmet subs, calzones, eggplant parm, chicken parm, sausage items, chicken alfredo, the baked eggplant dish I ordered, and many other more unique things that I can't remember. As well as a large selection of tasty salads, appetizers, etc. So grateful they had some low/ no carb / non fried options for me! They also have pizza of the day, Italian desserts, kids menu, lots of beer (they have a bar area and sports on etc). But my favorite part? They have a variety of sauces! I'm a sauce and dip girl! They had many you could choose from for all your entree / pasta type meals: creamy pesto Alfredo, sundried tomato Alfredo, regular Alfredo, marinara, and you could upcharge your sauce for $2 for meat sauce. I got a side of the pesto Alfredo for dipping mmm so good! And I took the rest home lol . We sadly waited 50 minutes from the time we sat, to when we got our food. We were hangry for sure... but I have patience since I worked as a waitress many times. But many wouldn't have been so patient. My kid really struggled. Thennnn, we waited another 15 min to get anyone's attention to get our check/ to go boxes. And another 5-10 before we got it..... yikes... not good, guys. The food was great. Friendly, down to earth, helpful staff all around, fun family atmosphere, great menu, comfy booths. But managers.... You gotta do better at staffing your Saturday nights/ your sections properly. I thought this was a fluke.. maybe 1 or 2 people called out sick... but from many other reviews, and from the staff saying tonight that this is a normal Saturday night.... You gotta do better. Hire a hostess, and a few more staff for Saturdays. This place could easily be 5 stars w no issues if they fixed those things. I almost gave 3 stars, but I know it's a owner/ manager issue, not a staff or kitchen issue. They all did amazing! We'll try again, thanks! read more

The service and food quality have taken a nose dive in recent years. Tried twice this year and both times the food to an exceptionally long time to come out when there were only a couple of other tables with customers. Waiting 40 minutes for a slice of pizza is ridiculous. Waitress came back only once after our cups were long empty. While she wasn't rude she was not friendly and didn't seem care about being there. Pretty sure my slice of pizza was hours old and just thrown back in the oven to be reheated as the cheese had already soaked up all the grease and looked as though it had been sitting a while after 40 minutes of waiting it should've been piping hot. It was warm. If people can see your waitresses behind the bar talking, but they never come to check on the table. It's not a good look. This used to be a great place food and service. Mmm pizza! Try the Buffalo Chicken Rancher, so different and tasty. Also had a pepperoni pizza. Both were crispy and soft, just how I like my pizza. Great service! Wish they had Blue Moons but the Shock Top pitcher hit the spot on a hot August day. We will be back when we are in the area again. read more

I've eaten at AJ's about once a month for the last several years. I think they have some of the best Italian food in the area. Yesterday, March 16, 2024, my wife and I stopped in for lunch. I ordered the margarita pizza, which was the first mediocre meal that I've had there (Chicago's on Old 441 in Demorest margarita pizza is much better). But our main experience from yesterday was the inattentive and rude server (the owner/chef's daughter I believe). As we first sat down she told me that we may have to move if a large group came in. I asked her if she wanted us to move now, since I would prefer not to have to move after we had been served. She said no. When we asked for our drinks to be refreshed she simply said that we weren't the only table she had instead of simply acknowledging our request. She brought our food and we didn't see her again until well after we had finished eating. I'm very disappointed in a restaurant that I have, until now, enjoyed. I will assume that she was having a stressful day and I will be back. But another experience like that we cause me to choose other fine restaurants in the area. read more

Was driving back from camping in north ga. Saw this place on yelp decided to give it a shot. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by our waitress had drinks soon after. Put our orders in and food came out promptly. We got wings, pizza, and calzones for our meals and mini garlic knots for an apps. Best garlic knots I have ever had. Wings were perfect. They were crispy on the outside and doughy inside. Bitter dripping delicious. My only complaint was the fishy aftertaste. Not sure if the frying oil was reused or not.
