Jones RV just replaced my travel trailer roof in its entirety and they did a wonderful job! They are professional and their high standards are evident. Anthony and his dad came to my house within 2 hours of my call for help when my RV roof leaked and they gave me an estimate for repairs while they were here. During the time they were replacing my roof all of my questions were answered right away by phone or text and they even sent me picture updates several times while the old roof was coming off and the new one was going on. Jones RV went the extra mile and did some things that were not even part of the deal just because they found a problem and fixed it - no charge. Based on a couple of very positive reviews on Next Door , my friend hired Jones RV Repair to replace a failing 110volt converter with a new one she already had. They insisted on replacing the power distribution panel as part of the job and charged her almost $300 upfront for that part. That price is about DOUBLE what they actually cost. My friend gave them the $$ for the panel and they returned on 4-6-22 to do the work. They were "on the job" for only a few hours, about one hour of which Mr. Jones spent on his cell phone unrelated to the rv job. My friend was assured that everything was perfect and operating correctly when they left my property that day. My friend asked me to look at Jones' work and double-check it, since some of what Mr. Jones told her didn't make any sense to her. I am an A.S.E.-certified automotive technician since 1975, and have good knowledge of electrical systems. I discovered that there were several SERIOUS wiring MISTAKES made by Jones Rv, each one of which could have caused an electrical fire that might have destroyed the rv. { I will be happy to explain them in detail if you contact me privately here}. I personally spent several hours and about $70 in repair parts to make things right. The photo shows exactly how JONES RV left the rv wiring in the rear trunk area. Their response to her asking about that wiring mess was Mr. Jones telling her that "she probably shouldn't put anything in the trunk". I personally have NEVER seen such sloppy and dangerous work in my life, ,and I've been in the auto industry since 1969. My friend has, since April, left phone msgs, sent texts and emails to ask them to make good on their work or make an adjustment in the exorbitant price (close to $1,200) they charged her for this terrible work. They have NEVER RESPONDED to her requests in any way, except once when Mr. Jones came and tried to convince her that everything was in order. They have an out-of-state address and phone number, which I'm sure they are well aware makes it difficult to pursue them legally. My friend asked me to write this because she is too angry and disappointed in Jones RV to address them again. Sarah, You have had 2 months to respond to my any one of my texts, emails or voice messages, to discuss this in a rational manner. Instead, you have chosen to publicly slander my friend and me by accusing us of lying. You stated that everything Ken said was untrue. Untrue! First of all there has never been any discussion about Ken being unable to fix it. I hired a "professional" just so that he would not HAVE to do it, since he was completely swamped with his own work at the time. You have twisted that innocent statement into a lie for the eyes of the public alone. You both know the truth. It was NOT Ken who "shorted out a bunch of things"; it was Jones. Ken never worked on it until he was forced to fix Jones's mistakes. It was serious. When I told Jones that the 110 would not shut off in the coach when the new breaker he installed was "off". He told me that it was "supposed to be that way, and that the batteries were always running and they were running the 110." Since this made no sense to me, I asked him to clarify, and he blamed it on the batteries I had installed. Then he blamed it on the converter I supplied, and still he did not simply check his work. When the batteries were installed, there appeared to be no problem until the RV engine was started, at which time Ken discovered that Jones RV had grounded the positive wire coming from the battery isolator. When the engine was started that grounded wire caused the voltage regulator to burn out. It could have caused a fire. It could have burned my RV to the ground! It was an emergency so Ken fixed it. Ken did not short out anything, all he did was attach the batteries in exactly the way that Jones said to do it. Even I know how to hook up batteries. The mistake was made by Jones. On to other problems. After Ken fixed the above mistake, he looked at the circuit breakers and discovered 3 additional issues, any of which could have caused a fire. The first one was based on my original complaint that when the circuit breakers were off the RV outlets were still live, which Jones totally ignored. Ken found that Jones had placed the hot wire from the shore power on the same terminal as the hot wire feeding the outlets, thereby bypassing the breaker completely. (This can result in a catastrophic fire if any plugged-in appliance shorted out.) Also, Jones had wired the output terminal of the first breaker to the input terminal of the second breaker, thereby making the 2nd breaker dependent on the first breaker for power. To compound the problem, the jumper wire he used to do this was a stranded wire instead of the single strand heavy gauge wire that was needed. The stranded wire made it impossible to clamp both wires tightly enough to the terminal (another potential for fire). So Ken fixed that by replacing the stranded wire with a piece of solid wire, which Jones should have done in the first place. When I called Jones to come back, they did not check their work, which is what anyone else would have done. Instead he blamed the batteries, he blamed the converter, and he blamed Ken, when Ken had nothing to do with it, until I had to call him in to fix the problem Jones created. Also the photograph shows how conscientious he was in arranging the wiring. For what I paid him, he could have done a less sloppy job. Anybody can make mistakes. If Jones had bothered to check his own work he would have found it, and he might even have been able to fix it without me ever knowing he made a mistake. He never even looked at it. Instead he that if want the 110 to be off in the coach, I had to unplug from shore power. I had to confirm this with him several times, since it just didn't sound right to me. But he insisted, even suggesting I acquire a battery shut off switch to mitigate the problem of the 110 still being live with the breakers shut off. Even I know that the breakers should shut everything off. Jones treated me like a blithering idiot, and there was just no talking to him. All these errors were made by Jones, not Ken. And they could have killed me!!! And now all you can do is make up some story about me being afraid of Ken. Ken had nothing to do with this other than to fix Jones's mistakes. I don't know the full extent of what he told you, Sarah, but it was not the truth. read more
