Ajumma is where you go to get the local neighborhood restaurant vibes. None of their dishes are fancy, they're not meant to be. It's meant to give you that homemade taste. It's probably why they're so popular. I really like their tonkatsu dish, tteokbokki (it's really spicy though), and bibimbab. If you go on certain days they also have really good items at the cash register table: korean chicken nuggets, seasoned dried squid, etc... I heard their kimchi is one of the most well liked around the area. The service is good as well.

I love this spot, I decided to try it out since i was going to H mart anyways. Their soup was amazing, it came out super hot and was the perfect amount of spice. The spicy rice cakes were also amazing. The prices are reasonable and i had plenty of leftovers. The kimchi is also some of the best i've ever tasted. I will definitely be back

Food is always so good and comes out fast. Small spot but the flavor is always there!

A little Deli style place for Korean food. Casual no alcohol but good price a d great food. There are decent number of tables you can sit and enjoy the food. Bus your own table after the meal. Come here if you just want good Korean food and don't care about fancier service or alcohol.

Raw marinated crab (banchan) with No. 3 - so good!

Every time I visit family in DFW, I always request that one of our family meals is here. I live in the Midwest and I can't get marinated crab or blood sausage. This place is my favorite. There are pictures at the counter if you're not sure what to get. Once you order, you just find a table for yourself and they will call your number (listed on your receipt). I always get the No. 3 (spicy soondae soup) because it's one of only things that comes with the raw marinated crab as a banchan (side). We've been here during the weekdays, but came on a Sunday today and the parking lot was packed. Plenty of parking near IHOP and it was a short walk.

Katsu size was great and very crispy. The sauce was a little too sweet/sour for my taste but it made for a not super dry meal which was great. Wished rice serving had more and wished they gave some banchan to snack on during the meal. Ladies at the counter were very nice and offered us some free soup which was super dope.

Super affordable and satisfying Korean food located in the same plaza as H mart. There are many photos of kimbap on their Yelp page, but just know they no longer sell kimbap. I came to try the soondae and it did not disappoint. They also sell whole frozen soondae as well. Although this place is self service, the ladies taking and giving our orders at the counter were very sweet. There is also a room to the right where they sell premade banchans, soups, rice cakes and mochis. The food was good and we had plenty to take home. Would definitely come back to feed my soondae cravings.

MY FAVORITE KOREAN PLACE IN DFW!! I came all the way from New Orleans just to eat here again. Cannot go wrong with any dish. The spicy soondooboo is perfect to pair with any of their dishes. Their pork bulgogi has an addicting flavor with a huge portion size compared to other Korean restaurants. The udon is sooo yummy, but I wished they gave more noodles. The rice cake soup was only $4!!! I always look forward to eating here when shopping around the Korean area in Carrollton. This is truly a hidden gem with affordable prices with huge portions.

FOOD Tteokbokki - the texture of the rice cake was good. It was chewy and not too stiff. The fish cake was good. Spicy but not too spicy. Pretty ok overall. Sundae - Doesn't taste smelly which is good. The sausage has good texture with chewiness from the glass noodles and blood. Served with other meats as well. Stir fried squid with rice - They gave pretty decent sized portions of squid. There was not much grill flavor as other places around the area but the seasoning and the texture is really good. It came with rolled egg, kimchi, and rice. The rice is some type of bean rice that tastes good. The rolled egg was kind of mid and the kimchi was really good! The portions are decent sized for their price and would definitely recommend as comfort food. Food quality is pretty yummy! VIBES This place gives very home and comfort vibes. The walls have calligraphy ink style wallpaper. You order food then go sit anywhere. There soft benches as well as chairs that are divided by short wall dividers. SERVICE Most of the people serving or taking order are Korean aunties with limited English. I definitely recommend telling them the number to order if you don't speak Korean.

This is going to be a long review. TL;DR - delicious, cheap, come and try it! This place looks unsuspecting like a tiny cafe from the outside, but is actually a large homely korean cafe on the inside. Everything is self serve for utensils, water, and returning plates to the shelf in the back next to the counter/kitchen. Prices are cheap, servings are generous, and service is very fast. Don't be fooled by the outside or even the view by the entrance - there is LOTS of seating. There are a bunch of large and small tables by the entrance. If those are full then there's a room further in with more tables inside. At Korean restaurants I always worry I won't hear them call my order, but here they call order numbers over the intercom which is loud, clear, and automated. We ordered a Spicy Soondaeguk (spicy Korean pork blood vege sausage stew), Dogani (beef tendon stew), and a Tonkatsu (pork cutlet). Every stew comes with a bowl of purple rice, kimchi radish and cabbage, and a side of sweet raw crab. The tonkatsu came with Cole slaw, purple rice, and ginger. I'm pretty picky when it comes to kimchi but the kimchi here was spicy, refreshing, and delicious. The soondaeguk is absolutely an acquired taste. The sausage didn't have much blood flavor and had plenty of clear noodles. The broth was thick and delicious, and came with copious amounts of meat and veggies. The dogani was also the same - lots of beef tendon, thick delicious broth, and plenty of clear noodles that were full of flavor. The tonkatsu's outside was thin and a little crunchy, meat was flavorful, and was drenched in tonkatsu sauce with mayonnaise drizzled on top.

My go-to korea food place! They have such a variety so you can choose from whatever you're craving. The ladies are super sweet and the restaurant vibe is giving korea nostalgia. My favorite food there is sundae bokkem (spicy stir fried blood sausage) and soy marinated crabs. They also opened a banchan (side dishes) by the entrance and they sell all the yummy side dishes which is perfect with rice. I can never get sick of the foods here!!!

Ajumma's never disappoints. It's my comfort place when I'm in town. It's always hot and fresh. We went around 4pm so they were not as busy.

I came to this deli because I was craving some soondae and I was not disappointed. For the cost of each meal, the portion is giant. I'm by no means average size person, and I was stuffed by the end of the meal. There are seatings towards the front of the building and another seating area towards the back where the hallway to the restroom starts. This place operates like a canteen where you place your order, get your receipt with order#, and you go pick up your order when your number is called. They have self serving stations for some hot broth to sip on, water fountains, and some utensils for to-go orders. After you're done with your meal, you're expected to place your tray on a rack by their kitchen entrance. On the right, when you walk in, there's a separate area where they sell side dishes to go home. As for the food, I wish the spicy soondae soup is a little more spicy. But the soup is packed with soondae, pig ears, and what I believe to be off cuts. I was surprised that I got some marinated crap as my banchan. My mom got beef bulgogi and it's packed with tender beef sliced. The vegetables are still slightly crunchy. The portion, again, is giant! Overall I'd definitely return here again with my family.

Before the main event, we got the seafood & green onion pancake. Crispy on the outside and reasonably chewy interior. Good amount of seafood; in particular, the oyster stood out. It was also a nice portion that was ideal for sharing. I opted for the seafood soondubu. Everything, from the banchan to the specific side dishes served with the soondubu, came out not too long after ordering. I got it at spice level three which I thought offered the right amount of kick without being too overwhelming (I also like to think I have a pretty strong spice tolerance). It had a good variety of seafood; namely, the shrimp and oyster. I'm not the biggest fan of clams but they were definitely still tasty. The tofu was soft and silky. The yellow croaker and rice were great supplements to the dish. The rice perfectly absorbed the broth. The croaker added a nice crunchy break from everything. The banchan was pretty standard in my opinion - still, a great complement to the soondubu. Last but not least - service was attentive and quick. I will definitely be coming back at some point!

The restaurant had plenty of space, but service was still super fast and efficient anyway, which I loved. What I love about Chodang is that the food is stellar and such good PORTIONS. Knowing this, I still opted to order a Combo Special because the thought of having leftovers for the next day sounded great to me. I ordered the Kimchi Tofu Soup with Beef Bulgogi, and it was delicious. I usually order my soups at the Spicy level, which I would say has a kick and flavor but never leaves me panting for air or water. As someone who likes spice, I wouldn't say it's very spicy, but definitely flavorful. Beef Bulgogi is one of my favorite dishes, and this place's version does not disappoint. The meat is tender and has a good balance of sweet and salty. My friends also ordered Combo Specials with a Tofu soup and the Korean bbq ribs, and Spicy Pork Bulgogi. One of these friends opted for the medium spice level, which I would say is a safe choice for everyone, especially if you're worried about something being too spicy. All soups come with Korean side dishes, a whole grilled yellow croaker fish (delicious but lots of bones), and a hot stone bowl of rice. Nothing missed!
