In general, the food was good and prices were not outrageous. The dining area was clean and services was good. The one thing that we didn't like was that a few of the customers were more of the "unrefined dining type". You know the type. It's the crocs with socks and sweat pants type that watch videos on their phone with full volume for all to hear. The couple that sat next to us both watched their phones almost the entire time with volume full on playing music and YouTube videos. It would be nice if businesses would at least inform their unrefined clientele that it is polite to put your phone on silent so that they do not disturb others. I don't want to hear your music or listen to your politically charged YouTube videos! read more

We came here for the first time last week and loved it. Lots of unique specialty rolls to try. Prices were very reasonable. Our only displeasure is when places serve cans of coke instead of refillable fountain drinks; this place does that too, but we go for the sushi, not for the Diet Coke. read more

With all the good reviews, I had high hope for this place when I came in. Ordered a take out, it was Saturday afternoon and the place was empty. Service was fast and the staff was really nice. I got the spicy chirashi and was disappointed, maybe should've gone with the regular chirashi. Anyway it came with a lot of lettuce which is weird, and the fish were chopped off into small cubes... first time I've a chirashi like this. Nothing special except the spicy sauce. I definitely had better chirashi bowl other places. $4.95 for the seaweed salad is pretty steep considering most places in the area serve lunch with both soup and salad. Entering the restaurant looks like a nice mom and pops place! It was very welcoming , the people inside were very attentive and helpful. Now to the part that you are here for.... la comida!!! To start we got a miso soup and a house salad. The miso soup was missing a little more tofu and seaweed bit had a wonderful flavor overall . The house salad dressing was wonderful! Next was a nice three roll dinner. We got the Sexy mama , the Blue mountain and the Bulgogi roll. Rating them in order as to how I liked them ( rating them like I rate my kids , Even though we don't have favorites right ). The Sexy Mama : Had a nice crunchy texture and the carrot tops were good but a little on the sweeter side. The Bulgogi roll : The meat was very well marinated and the, a nice twist to a Japanese classic. Lastly I would give it to the blue mountain roll. The salmon baked roll was wonderful expect it had a blueberry sauce which did not pair well with fish. I will go back and try other rolls on the menu. It is a place to try in Bristow. read more

This is genuinely the best place to grab sushi in Northern Virginia. It may look unsuspecting as it sits hidden in the shopping center, but the authenticity and service is beyond amazing. Today I did the dinner dine in style. I stopped next door to pick-up my dry cleaning and decided to give these guys another try since I had a three star take out experience the first time. The dine in at the Sushi Bar was of the 4 star kind. Mark is the man. He learned his craft from his father and has been making sushi for two years. I asked about a few of his specialities and after a short conversation I decided on the Dragon Roll. It was quite good, fresh tuna, rice and avocado topped with toasty and tasty eel...he uses a blow torch. I tried the seafood salad once again...it was even better the second time, if that's even possible. If you give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. Very friendly service. I came at 11:50 on a Saturday & was the only one there, but they open at 11:30 so I was fairly early. I read several reviews raving about the Captain Crunch Roll, so I got that as well as my staple Spicy Tuna Roll & Miso Soup. The Miso was delicious! So full of flavor. The Captain Crunch Roll was good, I'm glad I went with that. The Spicy Tuna was not the best I've had, but was good. I went back on another Saturday, around the same time. This time I ordered the Philadelphia Roll, Mexican Roll, & of course Miso Soup. The Mexican Roll was very good and unique - I like to try different types of sushi. The Philadelphia Roll was ok, but not my favorite. Both visits the service has been friendly & fast. I'd definitely return here if I'm in the area and in the mood for sushi! read more

I am so appalled that this place has nearly five stars. This might be the worst sushi I have had. Service here is okay- just a bit rushed because she was standing right next to us for a while before asking us to order. I got the Omakase sushi set since it stuck out the most. I substituted the California roll for a Spicy Salmon Roll because California rolls are pretty dry IMO, but I should've just substitute this entire entree. This tasted like store bought sushi. Like, 7/11 sushi. It was dry, bland, and none of this was melt in your mouth. It was chewy and even the classics like Tuna tasted old. I felt pretty guilty to not eat all of it but I wanted to puke halfway through. Never had water taste so good until today. I'd rather spend the same amount of money at a sushi restaurant 20 minutes farther up than here because I know I would at least get my money's worth. If you want to be disappointed then come here. We've hit this place up a bunch of time since Manna Sushi up the road closed down. The service is friendly and prompt but the dining room is pretty lame, zero character. They have all the usual offerings plus bulgogi and a large selection of specialty rolls. I mostly stick to the nigiri but my daughter has been digging the caterpillar roll as of late. Each and every time, including a few carry outs, the fish has been fresh and tasty. They always seem to have a steady stream of people getting carry out, but I've never seen the dining room filled to capacity. read more

Definitely a good place to get some good sushi in the Manassas area. It's a small place, and not many people for a Monday lunch. Service was excellent and quick. I had the Aka Roll and Uni (sea urchin) with Uzura (quail egg). I've started to love the Uni with Uzura recently and it was as here as other places I've had. The Aka Roll was also pretty good. I also got to try the Crazy Roll, which was pretty good if you want something crispy. It's a popular roll, and I would get it my next visit. I do think it's a little pricey, but worth it for good, fresh sushi. read more

I am thoroughly IMPRESSED! I came to this restaurant a couple years back and the sushi and experience was mediocre at best; dimly lit environment, food quality wasn't the best, and prices were higher than what I would've liked to have paid. But I think there was a recent change in management and the improvements are quite noticeable. The atmosphere of the place is nice and open, well lit so you can see your food and the people you may be dining with, and the servers are really kind and on top of their game. On top of all that the food was superb!! All the fish and seafood were clean and FRESH; combine that with excellent presentation and you have a very nice sushi dining experience. Sometimes people are intimidated by the price of sushi, but for quality service and freshness of the food a good sushi restaurant is worth the price. Some of the lower reviews on this place were mainly surrounding particularity over how they'd like their sushi to be. However, i would like to note that traditional Japanese sushi is very simple in terms of flavor; with Nigiri highlighting mainly the fish itself as well as the pairing of the rice. Sushi is traditionally eaten in house for best freshness and experience. But AKA Sushi does do togo as well. Another note is that each sushi chef will have his/her own style for rolls, chirashi, etc. so don't be too quick to judge the food if it's different from what you expected. Other than that AKA Sushi is definitely a place i'd recommend to anyone to try and have a taste at some quality sushi! read more
