Every time I come to Kon I have a great experience. They have a ton of free parking in the parking lot. The entrance and bathrooms are handicap accessible. My boyfriend and I went for hibachi on Valentine's Day. We did have to wait about 20-30 mins for hibachi to start since we got paired with strangers. Once the service started, it was fantastic. We had a reservation so were seated immediately. We each got water and then a scorpion bowl for two. They light the center which is cool and it comes with super long straws which is a fun touch. We got gyoza for the appetizer which is always so good. The dipping sauce is delicious. Hibachi is always so fun. Dinner and a show. The chef loves including everyone. Saki shots, getting the vegetables launched into your mouth, and the onion volcano are all so fun. I always get filet mignon. Hibachi comes with the mini salad and soup to start. Everyone gets two shrimp, rice, noodles, and vegetables, in addition to the chosen protein. It's like dinner theater. It's always a great experience and the food is amazing. I admit I was pleasantly surprised. My teenage daughter likes to come here with her friends for hibachi grill. She has been begging me to go with her. So we finally went together. The hibachi grill "show" is exactly what you would expect. The flames, the spinning egg, the spatula banging/drumming, the onion flaming volcano, the tossing pieces of food so the customers can catch it in their mouth, and squirting sake directly into your mouth. I haven't been to hibachi grill in at least 15 years...nothing has changed. Exactly the same. The grill guy was very enthusiastic, funny, and gave my daughter a balloon when he was finished cooking. The food portions are generous. We both brought about half our meal. The food was fresh. The flavors were average...like they intentionally made them basic for the most common denominator. I did like each portion included both rice and noodles. The meal also comes with a small salad (very basic) and a clear broth soup which was better than I expected. I spoke with the owner about this and he assured me they could do this. It was full of crunchy glutenny bits. When I want back in (take out order) his response was just "sorry" they made me another roll but if I had not noticed I would have been sick for weeks. I've enjoyed hibachi here a couple times, but I've been many more times for basic dining and have had consistently great food. Super friendly staff! The food was good and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. We did order pick up and it was a smooth process! You get a lot of food with your order. Two of us were able to share the vegetable fried rice and we even had left overs. I also really enjoyed the vegetable sushi! It has cucumber, avocado and asparagus in it! I understand everyone seems to love Kon. I, however, do not. I visited most recently at lunch for a hibachi lunch for 14-ish coworkers. The hostesses made it very clear they could not seat anyone until the entire party was present. When we ended up having 1 less person than they expected, they made it seem like a big deal. The hibachi show is not fun for an introvert. The man attempted to throw rice into everyone's mouth and I was not interested, but he threw the rice ball anyway and it landed on the floor behind me. The bar was filled with strip club go-ers out getting a breath of fresh air, food and another drink. They all seemed to turn around and stare at our group wearing business attire. It seemed to be a very busy place despite not a lot of guests at the time. Mostly Typical hibachi offerings except for the lobster but well done. Fresh Lobster in hibachi style is good but it doesn't stand out for me compared to typical American lobster style. I am sure a few relatives of mine enjoyed it immensely. Lobster done in sit down Chinese restaurant style tastes really good for most people and I think Americans that like lobster but only typically American cuisine would like such a dish as the lobster tends to be fried with green onions and such for exquisite taste and while the preparation might be different, it wouldn't stray too far away from what one may be used to in the States if you aren't a true foodie like I consider myself to be. Elderflower lemonade didn't have much elderflower as expected. Reisling White wine had a nice taste to it. Our chef was very enthusiastic and fun to be around. They are lucky to have him. read more

Kon never disappoints. There's enough seating so you usually don't have to wait and they have a private parking lot. They have the best happy hour in town (bar side only). You can't beat their $5 martini of the day, half priced apps and drink specials. This happens for a few hours every evening, even on the weekends! The hibachi tables are entertaining and delicious. Two tables are backed into each other, making it a great place to hold a larger dinner crowd. I love the fried rice that comes off the grill. It trumps the simple bowl of white rice that many serve. Came here with a group of friends for hibachi and it was really fun!! Our chef was engaging and made everyone involved. The rice was very tasty and not too salty. There wasn't enough egg in the rice so that would be my only complaint. He did 3 rounds of sake for our table which was fun to engage in and watch. The chicken and shrimp were cooked well and the vegetables were very flavorful. The portions are huge and the drinks are very strong. I also loved the sushi roll- Paradise Roll. I've been coming here on and off for many years now, sometimes the food is hit or miss - however, this most recent visit reminded me of why I used to like it so much 10+ years ago. I came around 6:30pm on a Monday. Had a few things, but the Szechuan crispy dried chicken - 5 stars, it was just so good! The crab Rangoon & gyoza were decent apps, and my friend had a poke bowl that was up to her liking - minus the kimchi, which I also tried and wasn't a fan - tasted bland, like it was pre packaged. Service was prompt, attentive and courteous - granted we came on a fairly slow Monday evening. Friday / Sat / Sun this place is a zoo, highly recommend reservations for the usual days of the week most people are out, otherwise it's pretty safe to come without reservations. This place is in need of a major facelift, greasy fingermarks on all the chairs, fading / tearing seats & for as long as I remember over the past few years sits a empty koi pond in the middle of the restaurant taking up about 10'x20' footprint, space that would be much better suited for seating during the busier days. Kon has been my Family's favorite restaurant until 1 week ago, on Sunday, at 3:45. My kids requested sushi rolls with only rice and seaweed, as we have done the previous 10+ times we have been there without an issue. The server, Jie, was very unwelcoming and insisted the kitchen would not accommodate them, despite it never having been an issue before. Her delivery and attitude ruined the experience for us and it is because of her service, or lack there of, that we will not be returning. We had our friend visiting from California and chose to bring her to Kon to celebrate. Between the 3 adults at the table we have spent close to 60 years and counting working in the service industry. It doesn't take much to be kind and welcoming. We are disappointed to have lost our favorite spot. Hoping this review encourages the business to do better, particularly when serving young families. read more

Our family has been here several times. The menu is extensive and varied. The prices are reasonable. The service has always been excellent. The restaurant is large with a bar area and several separate dining areas. There is plenty of room and we go early (5pm) and there has never been a noise issue. This is an update to my prior five star review. After a year, we returned to dine. It was a 180 degree turn. I wonder if the cook had ever actually eaten Pad Thai prior to cooking at Kon Asian Bistro. Noodles were mushy, gloppy and appeared to have been shoveled onto the plate. Bean sprouts were cooked through and mushy, so there was no textural contrast at all. The dish was over-sauced and just unappealing. I sent the dish back and got mango chicken, and while the chicken was tender, the bucket of cloyingly sweet sauce on dish just ruined it. I understand that Covid made staffing dicey, but my first experience there was amazing, and it was during Covid as well. The wait staff was wonderful on both occasions. read more

The parking is HUGE at Kon and so is the restaurant! The restaurant is dimly lit (not sure why, ambiance?), and the lighting gives off a warm, red look along with the rest of the Asian influenced decor. From the minute you walk in, they have a giant Buddha in his own little rock garden. They have a bar on one side, the hibachi in the next room, and the main room to connect the two. We ordered the Sushi Trio, which comes with a soup & salad, and the Tuna Amazing. The Sushi Trio, was mediocre. Nothing spectacular about it. It literally just tasted like fish, on top of a pile of rice. Usually, sushi pieces are slightly touched with rice vinegar and a dash of wasabi. Their sushi did not. The Tuna Amazing was not... It was actually almost close to room temperature and it shouldn't be when this is a RAW plate! Something I thought I was going to get used to, but ended up realizing it was giving me more anxiety than needed--- THEY BANG DRUMS AND OTHER LOUD NUISANCES for the birthday people. I'm always down to celebrate a birthday, but it literally sounds like a 2-year old is making all that commotion! read more
