This is my go to spot for a chirashi bowl with miso soup for my work lunch. It's always good portion and fresh and worth the value, but I also love their hibachi steak dinner and have ordered it multiple times. Steak is really tender. Comes with a well seasoned side of veggies and a great protein meal for after gym too. Definitely get it with fried rice and miso soup. I attached a pic so you can drool over it LOL.
We love the food. Everything that we ordered was very good including salad with miso dressing - very refreshing. The food was not cheap but the quality, portion and taste were good. I feel that I get what I pay for. Love jalapeño chicken- very spicy but perfect flavor- Service was attentive ( not friendly but attentive ) which is what I want. Ambiance is ok too. No complain, we will be back!!!
I've been a couple of times, but this was the first time I had the happy hour menu. Highly recommend going during that. I believe it's Monday-Saturday 3-7pm and Sunday all day Everything we ordered was off the happy hour menu! Volcano roll: spicy tuna, avocado, crunch, and masago with spicy mayo and eel sauce. I didn't know that it would come lit with a small flame as well, so that was a nice surprise. I'm constantly craving the i-10 roll from Sushi Masa, but this is my newest craving. It's so good, and they do not skimp on the fish!! Vegetable tempura: Had a mix of eggplant, zucchini, broccoli, mushroom, and sweet potato tempura. It was a much larger portion than I expected, so I shared it with friends. Spicy tuna roll: like a simpler version of the volcano roll as it's spicy tuna and avocado; I still think the volcano roll is better Caterpillar roll: Your standard caterpillar! I liked that the eel sauce wasn't as overly sweet as some other places. I used to get the chirashi, which was SO FRESH and huge, but the portion has gotten smaller and the price has gotten higher now! With the rolls being so good, I don't think I would get it anymore. BTW- The service is amazing. My friend was holding onto her bag and a waiter pulled up an extra chair so she could set it down! There were constantly people checking up on us despite it being packed.
Clean interior and welcoming staff. I was seated quickly and given water while I waited for my order to be taken. The menu is pretty extensive including hibachi sushi ramen and stir fry options. The presentation on the food was nice. Parking is pretty easy, but will have to walk as it's part of the outdoor plaza at the mall. Service was quick food was good and setting was clean so I would return for a nice lunch. Also find it nice that they have such a variety of food options so you're not stuck to ordering just one thing.
Honestly super pleasantly surprised by Aki. I ordered takeout and their packaging was great; each item had a nice container, they used a cardboard divider to keep the warm and cold items separate, and they have such cute little bags. I ordered the escolar nigiri, spicy garlic edamame, and a cup of egg drop soup. The soup was standard and satisfying. The nigiri came with some chili oil crisp on top which added a nice kick, and the fish was super soft. The edamame definitely had a hot garlic oil taste rather than a super spicy hit (if that makes sense). All in all, I was very pleased with Aki and would definitely go back!
Located on a strip mall and beside H-E-B, there are plenty of parking. The restaurant doesn't look big from the outside, but there are plenty of seatings inside. I went during lunch and it wasn't crowded. The staff were friendly and attentive. There are so many options on the menu. Just the special roll section, there are many different choices. If you were to read the descriptions of all the special rolls, most of them have the same sauces, and the main fishes are salmon and tuna. They offer some Chinese food too but mainly Japanese cuisine. I had the hotate (whole scallop) nigiri, caterpillar roll, queen spider roll, red moon roll, and crunch roll. The hotate nigiri was served at room temperature, and was fresh. The caterpillar roll was served like a caterpillar. The cucumber added a nice crunch, and the eel could be more generous. The queen spider roll was a posher spider roll because it had filet mignon added at the top. It was a flavorful roll. The red moon roll was not too bad. The crunch roll was crunchy, and the shrimp tempura was cooked well. For all the rolls, the sauces on the dishes were plenty. Less sauce would be better. Overall I like the food I ordered but it would be better to have other fish than salmon or tuna in many of the rolls.
I came for lunch with a coworker and had the lunch chirashi and philadelphia roll. The fish were really fresh, and we both enjoyed the meal. We were kind of seated in an area that was not very visible so the staff didn't take our order or attend to us as quickly as we were like. However, as the food was too good, we can let that slide. Great sushi!

Our first time at Aki which recently opened. We ordered terriyaki squid and several ramen - tonkotsu ramen, duck spicy miso ramen, 72 hour beef miso ramen because they have 30% discount promotion on ramen. The terriyaki squid is pretty good. My favorite is the tonkotsu ramen - the broth is super flavorful. I also like the duck spicy miso ramen but it's a bit on the salty side. I'm a little disappointed in the 72 hour beef which is tasty but not very tender. The manager Joy and waiter Jake are super friendly. They go all out to make sure you enjoy the food. Will definitely be back to try other items!
My friends and I were craving sushi, and they recommended this place to go to. We arrived with a party of 7 and were seated very quickly. The food came out in a timely manner for much we ordered, and the waitress was super friendly and attentive. Overall, this casual restaurant isn't anything special, but I wouldn't mind coming back here if I'm in the area again. My favorite thing we ordered was the Volcano Roll. We ordered it during Happy Hour, it came with ten pieces, and there was fire on the plate, how cool! It tasted nice, but there was a slight burnt flavor from the fire after we put it out. We also ordered some other things like the Monkey Brain, Special Crunch Roll, and Spicy Tuna Toll. None of these really stood out, but they were solid.
First time here the other day. Place was decently busy, and they brought out dishes as they were finished being made (LOVE!) Philly roll could have had less cream cheese but that's being annoyingly picky. Fried rice was good. Also had eel sashimi, very good. But the BEST part was the nigiri. Tuna nigiri of your dreams. Massive honks of fish on good sushi rice. Almost should've just ordered more of that it was that good. Will be back for sure!

Go to spot for years! They have happy hours M-F from 3-7pm as well as all day on sundays. Booths available for larger parties as well. Some of my favorites are the soups, crab Rangoon, spicy & garlic mixed edamame, New Orleans, crunch roll, shaggy dog of course, Bellaire, cowboy, jumping yellow tail and lychee martini. They are so many options to try. Service is usually quick. read more
Aki Steak and Sushi offers high quality, fresh fish at a very reasonable price. Chinese and stir fried dishes are also featured on their menu. While it is not the best sushi I have ever had, Aki is definitely above average for Sugar Land. I have ordered both takeout and dined in before. Both experiences offer quick, friendly, and efficient service. During my most recent visit, I ordered their 7 piece sushi set and a spider roll online and went to pick it up around the estimated time. My order was immediately available and packaged with care. They even separated the cold items (sushi and rolls) from the hot items (miso soup). The cuts of fish used for nigiri are fresh and cut very thick. I wanted more sushi rice with the fish because the fish portion was so large. The spider roll was very good too and has thoughtful use of micro greens and a nice eel sauce. Their chinese food offerings are solid too. I've tried mongolian beef and some other stir fried dishes before and the portions are very large--often enough for two meals. The interior is very clean and has tables, booths, and a sushi bar area. Definitely give this place a shot if you're looking for sushi or chinese food, both do not disappoint. read more

Server placed my food down at another table where the other patrons picked at it. Realizing it was at the wrong table, server then gave it to me. I asked for a new order which they declined to do because they said it was only there briefly. Good food overall which is why I gave them three stars. Would've been five stars if not for mistake. read more

Very decent Japanese fusion!!! Tempura was excellent, I was obsessed with everythingggg. And I'm a tempura skeptic. The cajun roll was delicious and different!! A cute elegant place hiding in plain sight! Perfect for a date or to treat yourself. The staff is very attentive and polite. The food is good. Went with a piece of miso soup, uní sushi, crab rangoon and the beef yakitori. The wait isn't long. Great experience, 10/10 read more

I thoroughly enjoyed Aki. I got the Temptation Roll and it was ssssoooo good!! I had heard about this place years ago but never got a chance to visit. I am now glad to say that I have been here and you should be making your way here too. Aki is right by H‑E‑B and is definitely good for lunch. Great customer service as well. I've only recently learned about this place but wish I knew about it sooner! Great quality for great prices, especially during their happy hours (all day happy hr on Sunday!). I've mainly tried their sushi but I also enjoyed most of what I've tried of their appetizers. It's spacious and clean inside too! Some honorable mentions: Shrimp tempura (so crispy and some of the best I've had!), Spider Roll, Shaggy Dog, any of their spicy salmon/tuna/yellowtail rolls. I haven't had a sushi roll that I've disliked at Aki yet! Will definitely be back to try more options. read more
