Special sashimi of the day: sweet shrimp

Akino opened a new location in Flushing! I love their Elmhurst location so I was excited to see this open up in the heart of Flushing. They take reservations so definitely book ahead of time. I went with my family on a holiday for dinner and every table was packed. You get 2 hours to order as much as you want from an iPad. I liked that you don't have to wait for a server to order and the food comes out pretty quickly. Drinks are not included but dessert is. On the day we went, it was a jasmine milk tea with pudding, which was pretty good. For $55/person after tax and tip, it's definitely worth it!

I did a pick up once for the Elmhurst location so when I heard they opened one in Flushing... especially with more modern decor, I waited till it had a lot of good reviews. We did ayce on a Friday for dinner and it was practically full even though it was maybe just after 6pm.. . L was glad he could order through the iPad and the food came fairly quickly since they had so many people making sushi. We started with mostly sashimi and some special rolls. The pieces were small at first but the rolls got bigger as we were in our 3rd round. We were ordering lil by lil. By the end after trying a good variety of special rolls... we both decided we really didn't care for all the combo ingredients and sauces. But if you really wanted special rolls, something with scallop was the best. Next time we'll stick to the sashimi and regular rolls. The sashimi although you can't expect omakase quality, it was decent...we liked the salmon the most. The only thing we tried other than sushi.. was the sirloin beef which tasted like something my mom used to make when I was a kid. It was salty but it would be great over rice. We also tried two of their teas.. rose one was good but I think I liked the green one... not bad for just $5 I think.. We ended the meal with pudding but I really didn't like it but if you like milk tea... which I don't, this might taste good to you. $2 discount per person if you pay in cash which we didn't bother. Great service, everyone was nice. We loved that the rolls weren't stuffed with rice.

AYCE. Low rice to high protein ratio! Tight space. Amazing service, willing to customize things not even on the menu. Udon not great broth wise, but noodles itself is great. Fried rice is a MUST. Yes, a filler but it's so good. Now for the fish... generous portions. Yellowtail jalapeño for the win. Tuna bomb, yes please. I have been here 3x this week. Just come, it's worth it... maybe you'll run into me LOL

My friends and I were deciding what to eat one evening and we came across Akino. For about $46/person, this is a great value with a wide variety of options. The fish they used was good quality and the staff were quick and kind. Their salmon dragon ball was really good, as well as their moonstruck and volcano were amongst my favorites. They also had this jasmine tea pudding for dessert which was really refreshing at the end. I was surprised by how quick the food came out since they were very busy on a Wednesday evening. It's a really nice spot to go to with friends or family, as it can be quite noisy at times due to amount of people, but overall great experience here.

Came back on a Mother's Day and it was packed! Serves and front desk were super nice as I unfortunately had to push my reservation time twice but luckily they were able to accommodate. They send you a text message reminder and you also have a15 minute grace period. Place is clean, just that the floor is a bit slippery. Since the place was packed there wasn't anywhere to put our bags so it did feel a bit crammed. Wished they got hooks at the bottom of the table. Food was goooooood. Ofc got a good variety of food from hot food to sushi and sweets. Hot food: -fried shu mai was nice and hot with a very thin wrapper so got that nice brittle crunch -sirloin was juicy -fried oyster was also really decent -eggplant tempura crunchy outside and nice and soft in the inside. Perfect texture since sometimes the eggplant is not soft enough imo Sushi: Their sashimi slices seem to got thinner but that's fine cuz we can order more. Yellowtail, salmon, and white tuna was supppper delish. White tuna will be my go to here now. The sushi rolls and nigiri were good too. Love the rice to fish ratio here since other ayce spams rice. Dessert: Jasmine milk pudding- this was more like Jasmine milk tea with pudding topping, but the tea was actually really floral. We all liked it. Every server was super nice and food came out not too late considering how packed they were. Again, really appreciate them being able to accommodate our change in reservation even though they were packed.

Food: 5/5 This probably the best AYCE sushi restaurant in Queens. All the fish was very fresh. The sashimi was perfect. The sushi rolls actually tasted good and didn't have excessive rice like some other AYCE places to fill you up. I don't usually care much for noodles at sushi restaurants, but their udon was surprisingly very tasty. Service: 5/5 Most sushi restaurants have maybe 2 guys behind the sushi counter preparing sushi. Akino had like 6-7 guys back there. We ordered on the ipad and a few minutes later the food comes out. The service was really fast and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance: 5/5 The ambiance is modern and energetic with a lively dining room that fits the fast-paced AYCE experience. The restaurant is clean, well-lit, and comfortable for both small groups and larger gatherings. It can get busy and loud during peak hours, but the upbeat atmosphere adds to the fun.

The interior was very chic and modern. You order from a tablet of all the sashimi and sushi that you want. All were good especially the sashimi and the wasabi octopus. Staff were friendly and you get a free jasmine tea pudding for following them on Instagram. Bathrooms are clean. Portions are really small but so you don't waste food. The only thing not good was the beef teriyaki. It's tough to chew.

To be honest I've been to Akino elmhurst location more times than I can count and I've witnessed a lot of transition throughout the years. Pre pandemic it was my favorite budget ayce spot. After the pandemic I was a bit disappointed when I felt they skimped on plating and utensils making it feel cheap and low effort, but since then they have brought back a lot more of that aesthetic and vibe I loved all those years ago. Now contrary to that-- Flushing locations a COMPLETELY different vibe. It's brightly lit, spacious, clean aesthetic (both locations are clean sanitary wise) and overall it's a nice spot to meet friends and grab a bite. The fish quality is always fresh, and this past time I went especially it was good. The servers are very attentive, constantly coming by to clean away any plates and trash and asking if we need water or tea refills often. The place was busy but I didn't feel like I was struggling to have conversation an overall I enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately Akino cannot be called a budget ayce anymore as you'll likely spend 45-50 per person if you choose to get drinks with your meal. But still for all the aspects it does offer I'd say it's worth it once in a while. For those new to Akino there's no uni served here but the service and consistent staple options on the menu make Akino a great addition to the neighborhood.

Really great spot--I somehow ended up here twice in one week but not a complaint. I immediately noticed how small the rice ratio is for every item. The fish really stands out! Sashimi is thinner cuts which helps me pace myself honestly. The handrolls are packed. When I came back, I was so excited to order more.

Great AYCE Sushi restaurant in Flushing! We have always enjoyed going to the Akino located in Elmhurst, so we were thrilled to find out that they opened up a restaurant in Flushing. This location is a lot bigger, more modern looking, and has much more space than the original location. The quality of the food was just as good, and the price was similar. There are lunch and dinner options. The dinner options also need to be selected on weekends. We usually get the dinner options, but would like to try the lunch option in the future. Great selection with sashimi, nigiri, rolls, as well as hot dishes. We always get the Eel Fried Rice. Their fish is always fresh, and they give you a good amount each time. Definitely recommended!

Akino is always a good choice if you're craving sushi and sashimi AYCE in queens. I've been to the Elmhurst branch before, and this time I finally tried the Flushing location. I had a great time, especially because it was my daughter's treat. It turned into a fun hump‑day dinner and one of my birthday week surprises, which made the experience even sweeter. The sashimis came out fresh and the quality was consistent with what I liked from the Elmhurst branch. The sushi and sashimi tasted clean, the rolls were well‑made. My daughter repeatly ordered their sushi pizza, i tried a bit. It'a too heavy for me. I like plain sashimis and their special rolls. The place is nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a relaxed dinner. We spent $96 for two person. She said it's worth it, i ate so much. Lol. Thanks my love.

All you can eat sushi right on 39th Ave, right in the middle of everything. It's hard not to be tempted to try this out. When I was doing my research, it looked like the early reviews they were trying to get their footing so we figured it was enough fine to give them a shot with their most recent reviews very good. Ordering on the iPad is easy and Monday-Thursday, AYCE is $42. This doesn't include your drink, but their drink selection looked very yummy so we indulged. One lychee rose, and another mango passion fruit. We did a little of everything after and everything hit! From shumai to their signature rolls, we really did a good job. The yellowtail jalapeño is always a fav and it was delicious here too! They end with ice cream but we had other ideas for dessert. It was bright and modern with a clean feel to it. Tables were spread enough apart so we felt like we had our own privacy. Everything came out quick and we were stuffed before we knew it. The only thing that threw me were the packets of wasabi with a little container of ginger. Doesn't mean it's the best quality in my history but this got the job done. I would come back for sure.

I've never seen such a quick turnaround at an AYCE that comes with good sushi! Their hand rolls were phenomenal; rice and fish portion was really good. They don't overly fill your hand roll or sushi rolls with rice. Waiters/waitresses weee friendly and patient. Definitely returning for when my sushi craving comes again!

We are very familiar with the area and must have walked passed this neatly tucked away gem without ever noticing it. Our son had mentioned that he and his friends have been going to a sushi place near Asian Jewel, our former dim sum go to place. When we sat down to order, my wife and I were quite impressed by how clean and cozy the restaurant was. Kind of on the small side with a few tables on the ground floor level. The menu offered cooked food as well as fresh sushi. We decided to start with the sushi & sashimi combo. They also offered a sushi or sashimi a la carte menu where you can choose to order by the piece. I believe that if you choose one of their standard menu sushi or sashimi orders and pay with cash, the a la carte price per piece of sushi / sashimi is only $1.35 / piece! Well we were famished and in addition to the sushi & sashimi plate we ordered two rounds of sushi & sashimi a la carte. Their salmon and yellow tail was so fresh and so scrumptious as was the sweet shrimp. The tuna was also very yummy and did not disappoint! When all was said and done we were quite happy with our experience with Yoi Sushi Japanese. I highly recommend Yoi if you're anywhere near Tangram Mall or Asian Jewel and have a hankering for yummy sushi. They also offer cooked food as well as ramen bowls.

The actual space is pretty nice and gives a family restaurant in a good way. It was a little awkward with the waitresses, who seemed to be on the quieter side, but nonetheless, they were kind. I got the abalone in the ponzu sauce ($8) and the wagyu beef sukiyaki lunch set ($21). The abalone was actually really good, and as my first time trying something like that, it was well worth it. The wagyu set was also pretty filling and very much worth the price. It came with a salad, an egg soufflé, sliced lotus root, pickled ginger, and rice. The actual sukiyaki was light and slightly sweet, but refreshing. I love that they packed it with vegetables in the sukiyaki. They even give you a complimentary ice cream at the end of your meal. The only thing that docked a point for me was that one other table, and I was the only one present at the restaurant, and there were two waitresses, and I believe another man was working, not too sure what his role was. All three of them would continuously check up on the other table, whereas I would have to flag them down if I needed anything. I noticed them making small conversation with the other table, but they would not really speak to me. It felt a little weird, given that we were the only two tables and somehow they had three people check up on them, and I had zero. The servers were still nice when I flagged them down, but it was just a little strange to be given that treatment. I'm hoping it was just an off day, as I do want to go back and try the other items. The menu was extensive, so I'm really interested in seeing what the other items are like.

The prices on the windows are very confusing and more like false advertising for me, the lower prices are for the members which we're not since this is our first time and definitely our last, unless our daughter wants to come here again. So the price is the more expensive one. For me, I prefer straight forward pricing, so this didn't give me good vibes, it's not the money, just the way they advertising and we have to know what we can only have with the price we chose. The restaurant just gives us the specific menu for what we selected to have then we don't have to be denied for what we chose because we selected gold instead of top of the line menu. The place is clean and nice. For $78/per person and only have Australian Wagyu Beef (not really Wagyu) then it's over priced. We did have some premium beef which I liked because of the marble of fat on the beef quite tender and tasty, but only a sampler or whatever they called it. Service with one person is quite inadequate but she's very attentive and pleasant, since she had to run the whole restaurant, sometimes forgets things. The tomato broth was good and everyone liked it. The seafood plate is OK and our sweet shrimps are sweet. Some snow crab legs, jumbo shrimps, fish fillets, nothing to make me go wow. The appetizers tempura is crispy and good. The raw octopus is tasty. The vegetables are fresh and clean. After they denied me the premium beef sampler, I let my daughter to order everything else and I just enjoyed with the family. My daughter seemed to be happy and ate a lot, so I was happy. I've eaten enough shabu, hot pot to know that Australian or American Wagyu are overrated, many of them are tough and chewy, not as tender as normal ribeyes or Brisket that I like. This restaurant Wagyu beef does have marbles of fat in it, so it's tender and not so chewy. So, for the GOLD menu, I don't think it's worth the $78 but for special occasions, it's OK. I just don't like the confusion of many menu, many prices, and not getting my own menu and get denied for something on the menu because I didn't pay enough.

I prefer individual pots, which I've had at same chain in California. The decor and service were both decent, but nothing stood out. We were split into two tables of four even though I noticed a private room that remained unused during our visit. Overall, the experience was okay, but I don't think it was worth the price.

They have an array of sushi options in the front where you take a box and tongs, and make your own selections! The pieces are pretty big, around 2-3 bites, and well-constructed. Unfortunately, by 6:30pm there wasn't much of a selection left, so I got 4 pieces for $7.20. The sushi was temperature controlled and placed in a case to prevent flies from getting in. One may mix and match sushi rolls from the food stall's refrigerated display case at $13.99 per pound, or order the same sushi rolls made fresh for $15 per roll. The ingredients of each roll in the display case is labeled in English and Chinese. We visited a few times and have had the Manhattan roll and a small assortment of other rolls by the pound. The sushi pieces are well-constructed -- attractive, of a good size and tightly packed; however food-coloring seems to be used in at least one of the rolls. I prefer getting take-out to dining in at New York Food Court; the food court has a strong odor that reminds me of a workplace restroom. Mobile phone signal can be a little spotty inside New York Food Court; plan ahead accordingly. Cash only.
