Food: 5/5 This probably the best AYCE sushi restaurant in Queens. All the fish was very fresh. The sashimi was perfect. The sushi rolls actually tasted good and didn't have excessive rice like some other AYCE places to fill you up. I don't usually care much for noodles at sushi restaurants, but their udon was surprisingly very tasty. Service: 5/5 Most sushi restaurants have maybe 2 guys behind the sushi counter preparing sushi. Akino had like 6-7 guys back there. We ordered on the ipad and a few minutes later the food comes out. The service was really fast and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance: 5/5 The ambiance is modern and energetic with a lively dining room that fits the fast-paced AYCE experience. The restaurant is clean, well-lit, and comfortable for both small groups and larger gatherings. It can get busy and loud during peak hours, but the upbeat atmosphere adds to the fun.

The interior was very chic and modern. You order from a tablet of all the sashimi and sushi that you want. All were good especially the sashimi and the wasabi octopus. Staff were friendly and you get a free jasmine tea pudding for following them on Instagram. Bathrooms are clean. Portions are really small but so you don't waste food. The only thing not good was the beef teriyaki. It's tough to chew.

To be honest I've been to Akino elmhurst location more times than I can count and I've witnessed a lot of transition throughout the years. Pre pandemic it was my favorite budget ayce spot. After the pandemic I was a bit disappointed when I felt they skimped on plating and utensils making it feel cheap and low effort, but since then they have brought back a lot more of that aesthetic and vibe I loved all those years ago. Now contrary to that-- Flushing locations a COMPLETELY different vibe. It's brightly lit, spacious, clean aesthetic (both locations are clean sanitary wise) and overall it's a nice spot to meet friends and grab a bite. The fish quality is always fresh, and this past time I went especially it was good. The servers are very attentive, constantly coming by to clean away any plates and trash and asking if we need water or tea refills often. The place was busy but I didn't feel like I was struggling to have conversation an overall I enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately Akino cannot be called a budget ayce anymore as you'll likely spend 45-50 per person if you choose to get drinks with your meal. But still for all the aspects it does offer I'd say it's worth it once in a while. For those new to Akino there's no uni served here but the service and consistent staple options on the menu make Akino a great addition to the neighborhood.

Really great spot--I somehow ended up here twice in one week but not a complaint. I immediately noticed how small the rice ratio is for every item. The fish really stands out! Sashimi is thinner cuts which helps me pace myself honestly. The handrolls are packed. When I came back, I was so excited to order more.

I've never seen such a quick turnaround at an AYCE that comes with good sushi! Their hand rolls were phenomenal; rice and fish portion was really good. They don't overly fill your hand roll or sushi rolls with rice. Waiters/waitresses weee friendly and patient. Definitely returning for when my sushi craving comes again!

Great AYCE Sushi restaurant in Flushing! We have always enjoyed going to the Akino located in Elmhurst, so we were thrilled to find out that they opened up a restaurant in Flushing. This location is a lot bigger, more modern looking, and has much more space than the original location. The quality of the food was just as good, and the price was similar. There are lunch and dinner options. The dinner options also need to be selected on weekends. We usually get the dinner options, but would like to try the lunch option in the future. Great selection with sashimi, nigiri, rolls, as well as hot dishes. We always get the Eel Fried Rice. Their fish is always fresh, and they give you a good amount each time. Definitely recommended!

All you can eat sushi right on 39th Ave, right in the middle of everything. It's hard not to be tempted to try this out. When I was doing my research, it looked like the early reviews they were trying to get their footing so we figured it was enough fine to give them a shot with their most recent reviews very good. Ordering on the iPad is easy and Monday-Thursday, AYCE is $42. This doesn't include your drink, but their drink selection looked very yummy so we indulged. One lychee rose, and another mango passion fruit. We did a little of everything after and everything hit! From shumai to their signature rolls, we really did a good job. The yellowtail jalapeño is always a fav and it was delicious here too! They end with ice cream but we had other ideas for dessert. It was bright and modern with a clean feel to it. Tables were spread enough apart so we felt like we had our own privacy. Everything came out quick and we were stuffed before we knew it. The only thing that threw me were the packets of wasabi with a little container of ginger. Doesn't mean it's the best quality in my history but this got the job done. I would come back for sure.

dined in this time for their all day AYCE. I like that they switch out their monthly specials. Sashimi was super fresh and loved the hot tea refills. Although this spot is more spacious compared to the elmhurst location, the tables do t have much surface area for all the plates to be without stuffing your face quickly so they can take the empty plates. A waitress accidentally spilled the residue sauce all over my jacket and bag when taking an empty plate from our table but was apology and helped me clean it off. Overall a great spot for fresh sushi/fish if you're in the area.

Service was quick from ordering dishes to removing plates & refills of beverages. Food here is delicious, fresh & made to order. Ambiance is nice & clean. They do have a cash & credit card pricing. Only downfall, 2 bathroom stalls neutral gender. Second time I've been here & I'll definitely be back for the third!!

Akino is my favorite AYCE sushi place! I first went to their original location Elmhurst years back but haven't heard been in the past few years. But craving sushi recently, I decide to get their much newer Flushing location a try. It's definitely a bigger location here! I spent most times eating their special rolls - my favorites included the Akino roll, moonstruck, and black dragon rolls!

Cuisine: 5 Service: 8 Decor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 6 Let me start off by admitting that I am a sushi snob, therefore my review of this restaurant may not reflect the masses. Looking at the crowd last night, most of their customers were in their 20s and 30s, so I'm not their target audience anyway. Honestly, walking into this location feels a lot more brighter and spacious than the original Elmhurst branch. Service was quite excellent with around a dozen servers walking around on a random Monday night. Food arrived quickly but not overwhelming. The hostess even came to check on us during our meal twice. Unfortunately, I just can't give the food a high rating. Our first batch of sashimi came warm, while the second batch was icy. Sushi rice was somewhat cold and hard. Carpaccio offerings were overall average. Hand rolls had chopped fish that was too mushy and rice falling apart. At least everything felt fresh. For the cooked foods, most of the tempura had too much breading, except for the kani. The grilled beef and salmon were all overcooked. Everything else was okay but mostly fillers. Hate to admit it, the but the edamame is something I would never order, but my friend did, and it was the best item of the night. For the price, I rather go to a good reasonably priced sushi shop and order a chirashi or a plate of higher quality sushi/sashimi. What I'll say is that this place does make a lot of sense for people who want quantity over quality, as well as families on a budget.

Great AYCE sushi place! Restaurant was clean and the service was efficient. Because they are so busy, we did feel a little bit rushed from the staff constantly asking us if we wanted to order another round or if we were done with our meal. The seafood was fresh and they have perfected the ratio between the rice and everything else. Their shrimp tempura roll is pretty fresh didn't taste like the bready, made-from-frozen shrimp tempura. Overall it's a great place for a meal, unless there's a 90 minute wait, then it's probably not worth it.

    Angelo G.

Usually go to the Elmhurst location, decided to try out their new location. Made a resy, make sure to make one because they get packed quickly. For AYCE, the quality of sushi is pretty good. My favorite had to be the dragon roll. You order on the iPad at this location, no pencil & paper so it keeps track well. Follow them on social media platforms and show your waiter / waitress, you will get a free ice cream.

We are very familiar with the area and must have walked passed this neatly tucked away gem without ever noticing it. Our son had mentioned that he and his friends have been going to a sushi place near Asian Jewel, our former dim sum go to place. When we sat down to order, my wife and I were quite impressed by how clean and cozy the restaurant was. Kind of on the small side with a few tables on the ground floor level. The menu offered cooked food as well as fresh sushi. We decided to start with the sushi & sashimi combo. They also offered a sushi or sashimi a la carte menu where you can choose to order by the piece. I believe that if you choose one of their standard menu sushi or sashimi orders and pay with cash, the a la carte price per piece of sushi / sashimi is only $1.35 / piece! Well we were famished and in addition to the sushi & sashimi plate we ordered two rounds of sushi & sashimi a la carte. Their salmon and yellow tail was so fresh and so scrumptious as was the sweet shrimp. The tuna was also very yummy and did not disappoint! When all was said and done we were quite happy with our experience with Yoi Sushi Japanese. I highly recommend Yoi if you're anywhere near Tangram Mall or Asian Jewel and have a hankering for yummy sushi. They also offer cooked food as well as ramen bowls.

The restaurant was understaffed. On Mother's Day there were 2 waitresses for an entire floor that was half full. The dirty dishes and garbage accumalated at my table to a point that I never experienced before at a restaraunt. Presumably the kitchen was understaffed too because.... Some of the items, such as the relatively expensive mussels, that I ordered took 1.5 hours to come out. The expensive squid skewers were conveniently out of stock. I saw my table neighbor wait 30 mins for food. He looked unhappy. I saw a delivery guy waiting in the lobby for over 20 mins. He looked angry. Although we ordered non-stop, there was a good 15-20mins between orders where we had no food on the table. This is unacceptable at an AYCE that forces you to order instead of having a buffet. The sashimi and sushi also fell in quality and is sub-par compared to local AYCE peers such as Sushi Village in Bayside, The Buffet at College Point, or Akino, a block away, which I highly recommend. To add insult to injury, for my table of 2 -the bill came with a thinly veiled mandatory gratuity in the form of a service fee of 18%. Does the restaurant know the service is sub-par and so it puts a required tip without disclosing this beforehand? Goodbye River, forever.
