I would not go here for any fine tailoring. I had them repair a pocket on a nice shirt and they butchered it bad. Instead of a fine stitch to repair, matching the other stitching, they made a repair that looks like a child taking sewing lessons would achieve. Never again. read more

I've came here twice in the past few years. Even though you may seem some comments on Yelp saying the owner is rude I overall actually think the owner means well. The first time I needed to get the dress shortened and make the slit longer on the dress. Since my dress was so long the slit was only going up to my knee so I also needed to make it longer. My dad kindly offered to pick up the dress for me before the wedding since I was busy with work which a mistake on my end. Since I didn't try on the dress and had only tried it on right before the wedding I noticed that the slit on the second layer of cloth was not cut but the first layer was. So I had to bobby pin the second layer of cloth. I'm surprised she didn't cut both players to make the slit. The second time I came here I wanted to make the dress shortened and add a slit. To shorten the dress it was $48.00. She told me she couldn't add a slit because there was no extra material. After the first time she shortened the dress the dress it was still way to long. She told me it was my fault the dress was long still because the first time I tried on the dress for her I was probably looking down or slouching so I wasn't standing up straight enough. I was surprised she put the blame on me. When I came back the second time the dress was to the length I wanted. Even though she didn't make the slit correctly the first time it was also my fault for not trying it on and noticing this mistake. The second time she was able to fix my dress by shortening it the way I requested although it took a couple of times. read more

I came to young's once to get a few of my bridal items altered - specifically my after party dress, welcome dinner dress, and my engagement shoot dress. The welcome dinner dress just needed to be tapered and they did an excellent job. It fit perfectly. The engagement shoot dress just needed a hem and that was also done beautifully. However, my party dress which was the most expensive to alter because I needed the straps shortened and the sides taken in, I wasn't entirely happy with. The dress fit well however the straps were altered in a way where you can see how they just folded the fabric over itself instead of cutting the fabric and sewing it back together. I wish I would've taken a picture but hindsight is 2020. I would probably only come back for more simple alterations because the prices are reasonable and they did a great job on hemming and tapering my other two items. read more

Ive spent quite a bit on dry cleaning and tailoring here. Most of my trousers have been tailored well. But, Unfortunately I just picked up several trousers that I need to rebuy because the hem was cut too short on 4 out of the 5 trousers. My advice to gents looking for tailoring is if you go to young's then do your measurements before you get to the store and ask for that specific inseam measurement. If not, then there's too much room for them to make an error. In my case they hemmed an inch too short. read more

I'm so disappointed in the service at young's cleaners and alterations. I went in for a basic dress tailoring - for long dresses I always have to cut about a foot of fabric off the bottom because I'm quite petite and I was surprised to find that the price for such a basic alteration was $65 where I traditionally have had such a service done for $30. I figured that the price had to do with the quality service and paid regardless. Upon picking up the dress, I learned that the tailor had not kept the remaining fabric of the dress when it has also traditionally been given back to me. This wasn't just some measly scraps, this was a foot across the bottom of my dress - a good chunk of fabric I had planned to repurpose for another project. Maybe the other tailors I've been to have just been going above and beyond without my realizing it - or maybe young's service could use improvement. The owner is one of the rudest person I've ever encountered. When I explained the way I wanted my pants altered, she gave me responded to me the most condescending way and raised her voice as if she is the only one who can decide how I want to alter my own pants. Also, even the alteration skill wise, after she altered my pants, the center line of the pants are shifted to the side. At end of the day, she doesn't even have enough skills to be that authoritative to her customers. read more

Brought my beloved red flannel here for some repairs after putting a tear in the arm. My garment was fixed quickly and for a reasonable price. Since then, I've been taking my dry cleaning here in the rare event I have a stained shirt or need something done. Dropped off some dusty faux fur vests after a trip this summer: done. If I could give zero I would. I took a winter coat a few months ago because I wanted to have the buttons reinforced. They gave me a quote of $20 for 6 buttons. It was still the Summer hut I wanted it to be ready for the colder days and winter. So like 3 weeks ago I wanted to wear it during a cold night and when I closed the coat, a button popped out. I brought it back and the lady, who I'm guessing must be one of the owners, questioned the fact I came back after a few months , the answer " because I don't need a coat during winter, and this just happened !! " anyway, today I have to come back for a 3rd time because this time, the button was sewn upside down. It's a Navy coat with anchor gold buttons. This is really unacceptable, and she also wanted to charge me for a poorly executed job. Bad customer Service as well. When I asked her to add layering to the dress on top of all the alterations I requested, she advised me to save my money and just wear a layer underneath which shows how honest and how much they care about their customers! I don't trust anyone else to alter my pants but Mary and her ladies at Young's. Her prices are great, and her work is immaculate. Plus she's quick. Mary is usually doing 5 things whenever i come in, whether it's helping the line of customers, or answering the phone, but she always is diligent to my needs and each of my garments. Ive brought in at least 5 pants to get altered and each one of them fit me like a glove with perfect execution. My recent visit i brought in some thick vintage leather pants about 2 sizes too big for me. Mary and her team managed to take the pants apart and construct them perfectly to fit me. All for $60. Young's is wonderful. Been coming here for a couple years now. I even moved to a different neighborhood but I still make the trip to come here. There is a team of ladies who do all sorts of work. I am short, with a small waist but a big booty so nothing ever fits. I've had them take in almost all my clothes and they look amazing. I don't know what I would do without Young's. And the owner is the best, she is always finding creative ways to make it work for me. And I bring in many designer clothes as well as non designer and they have done very good work on everything. I recently took in about 10 items that were my moms/some designer sweaters with holes from moths but I wanted to see if I could save them. Every piece came back fixed and or tailored to me. You know, I really hate to do this but I have to. I needed a bridesmaids dress hemmed for a wedding so, of course, I ran to Yelp to find an affordable yet highly reviewed place to hem my $300+ bridesmaid dress. I found Young's and I read some of the reviews about bridesmaid dresses and how well of a job they did and I was all set. I went in with the dress and the shoes I was going to wear and showed them how much needed to be cut off. The dress was odd that it was really long in the front but shorter in the back. I was tripping over it in the front but the back was perfect. The woman who was pinning the dress even commented on that, that they would only shorten the front, since the back was fine. The quote was $38, perfect! A week or so later, I picked up the dress after work. I didn't have the shoes with me and I just brought the dress home. Maybe I was too confident. I get home and try it on with my shoes and I was pretty much in tears. The dress was SO short in the back. Granted, I fly out in two days, a. I didn't have time to go back and b. Can they even make it longer?? The material is chiffon. I don't know anything about alterations but I feel like that would be impossible/look terrible. Anyway, back to the tears, I obviously couldn't tell the bride because she would flip so I was like okay, I'll get shorter shoes, another expense I shouldn't have to pay for. With the shorter shoes it's BETTER, still weirdly hi-low in the worst way. Not happy to report how awful of a job was done but I can't write a positive review of this experience. read more
