My lack of interest led to only coming a couple days a week and injury. So I stopped coming. While I was injured I had gained about 30 lbs. Once I was feeling better and injury free I hopped around to different gyms but never stayed because I had no accountability or direction. I just never felt like I belonged anywhere. November of 2018, I decided to shoot an email over to the guys at Reviver and had an awesome 45 minute conversation with Vince. Right then I knew I was headed in the right direction. After I decided to take a break from CrossFit, I needed a workout replacement. I decided to check…read moreout Trufit because it was just opening their Detroit location, which happens to be about 1/4 mile away from my office. It certainly doesn't get much more convenient than that. There are several different classes to choose from. TruX has a lot of the same moves and aspects of CrossFit but without the Olympic lifting. Trustrength has less cardio, and is (obviously) more focused on strength. SWEAT is predominantly cardio. And Glow Boxing is precisely what it sounds like - a cardio boxing class under party lights. There is even yogabon Saturday morning. The folks are nice the coaches generally good. You can register and schedule classes with the mind body app, which is hella convenient. It even syncs with my calendar. My main beef is that, only being open a few months, the schedule changes, generally without notice. I have scheduled classes at specific times, only to look at my calendar a few days later and discover that the time on the class was changed to a time I never signed up for. Easily fixable, but annoying. Hopefully random scheduling changes will happen less and less often as the Detroit location becomes more established.

The gym is locked 24/7 and only members or staff have access. This makes me extremely safe and at ease when I'm working out early in the morning or late at night and I am one of the few people at the gym. Although the HotWorx app itself could use some updating I do really like that it shows each level you hit based on how many calories you've burned. I feel like tracking my levels and my calories burned compared to the local leadership board motivates me each time I'm in the gym!

Even though HOTWORX has the same requirements, I don't have to wear my mask when working out. My work out is in an enclosed sauna pod, it's just me. I have tried Hot Cycle (sauna temperature is between 125-130f) a 15 minute exercise that normally isn't to difficult then add the dry heat. It is rough. Like a knucklehead after doing Hot cycle, I then tried hot yoga. Mistake, huge mistake. I nearly passed out about 10 minutes in. Hot yoga is 45 minutes and after doing hot cycle for 15 minutes may have been to much. You need an appointment which is easy thanks to their app and its open 24 hours.

I've been a member since 2018, yes there are pro's and…read morecon's like any other gym, but you need to feel it out to decide when it works for you; Don't come on a Monday night after 5pm. If you want to use the squat racks come anytime Sunday after 11. Saturday anytime after 12pm. Most evening nights are ok but it will be busier. If you go before 4pm you can get on anything. They redid the unisex hot sauna, which is nice and slightly bigger, had hoped for infrared but oh well it's still pretty good. The pool area in the summer is great, especially if you have kids. Many slides and types of pools to accommodate little and slightly older. The locker rooms are always kept up well (except during the summer, the family room is NOT kept up well at all...) The showers could be kept cleaner during peak times as well as the hot tubs (just this past year). The swim membership for a junior competing is kind of pricey, had to reduce that out of my package due to the price and unavailability to make it 2x due to my schedule. Overall, the equipment is usually maintained pretty well. I was disappointed when they removed quite a few of the bikes out of there, ultimately I just stopped biking as the recumbent bikes are absolute garbage. I do feel that this gym does need to update a lot of the equipment and utilize the space a bit more efficiently. Other than that, I consistently get a great work out with many modalities to choose from, in a nice setting with a couple days of the month that it's too busy for me but not enough to look elsewhere. I've had memberships at the other local big box gyms and they simply suck. Lifetime is the best within the area unless you want to have multiple small boutique gym memberships, if you don't want that, LT is the place.

I had been a member and also a manager of one of the departments at one time there and was always very pleased with the services and staff was exceptional. Unfortunately they moved my stylist who I have been seeing for 20+ years to the Rochester Hills location. While I am thrilled shes still at LTF, the staff, especially the receptionist was very unwelcoming and gruff. One major issue was no one called to confirm my appointment and thankfully I did. Otherwise I would have shown up at the Troy location for my appointment that I had scheduled 6 weeks in advance. Very poor transition and planning. Being a previous employee though, I understand there lack of customer service in some areas. Would be nice if they decided to reopen the spa at Troy. It was very convenient for all the parents especially to have those services available with the childcare services right there. Disappointing.
