This was supposed to showcase just how delectable their grilled cheese is, but I made it look unappetizing. I swear it's the best!

Quality lil diner! We like coming here on our lunch break since the service is always quick and super friendly, and the food is reliably good. The family who owns Alea is so sweet. We usually sit outside on their spacious patio, and they bring the food out to us. I have to specifically shout-out their grilled cheese, which is just, like... the perfect diner grilled cheese. It's got THE MOST buttery bread I've ever had, which isn't everyone's cup of tea (the whole sandwich is literally moist with butter) and it can be a little rich, but that's diner food! It really hits the spot. They also have great fries here, give you plenty of sauces on the side for no extra charge, and also have that exact perfect balance of water to soda in their soda dispenser, so their Dr Pepper is some of the best I've ever had. It's typical diner food--yes, they've raised prices in accordance with inflation, which is unavoidable, but it's a great casual spot to come for lunch or dinner.

Chicken Caesar salad. Looks soggy and the dressing was a lot runnier. Chicken Caesar Salad

I have been ordering Chicken Caesar salad, for almost two years, from Alea's cafe. But the last two orders have been a complete disappointment. I'm not sure what changed, but the dressing has been a lot more runny and the mayonnaise taste over powers the whole meal. The greens taste like it's been sitting on water the whole time and the quantity was much more. This is definitely not the original recipe. $14.00 salad no longer worth it.

    Cheeseburger and fried zucchini combo

I love this place! I've been coming here for years. Catherine and Nicko always take care of me and the kids whenever I come in. If you have not been here, you should definitely stop by and try out this Jem!!

    Over priced

$22 for a double bacon cheeseburger combo. That's about $5 more than most. Burger was good (bun was the most impressive part) fries and seasoning salt were also good but the ranch was pretty weak.

I just love this place. I mainly go on Sundays. I go after church. At first I went there because it was near by. Didn't have to drive far and then get in line. So I mainly eat breakfast here. I have my favorites. But mainly the big breakfast. With a freshly squeezed OJ. Yes that's a bit more But it's worth it. The Big Breakfast consist of 2 eggs cooked the way you like it. I get them over easy. Yes I like to pop the yoke. Sausage or Bacon. Or half and half. Choice of hash browns or country potatoes. I get hash browns. And they always cook them percent. Not burnt or still raw. That doesn't happen here. Then you have a choice bread. Toast white or wheat, Rye, sourdough and English Muffin. Off course I get the English Muffin. It comes buttered. And they always bring you some jam. But it's not done yet. You get 3 nice size pancakes. Yes. It will fill you up. Now I have had the pastrami burger. It was ok for me. I did prefer their pastrami melt. They have a sandwich but it comes with no cheese. They grill their pastrami here. Not boil it like at the Hat. Taste much better. They serve menudo on the weekends. I SE people order that a lot. It looks like people order different things. I'm always seeing different things. Waffles , burgers , sandwiches, burritos. Country fried steak. The menu is big. And diverse. But I mainly come for breakfast. They have 14-16 tables inside. They are all booths. And sit 4 comfortably. They also have tables outside. So whatever fancies you. This place is kept clean. The servers are always cleaning up. And some nice you order first. Gives you an opportunity to choose your table. In case you want to face the television. Or not. Your choice. The parking situation is good. Just don't park on the other side of the fence. They have plenty parking.

The business have a small footprint in a crowed mini-mall anchored by Starbuck and the traffic that entails. Parking is a premium, and I can see how at times unavailable. In now way a deal-breaker, but be aware you may have to be creative to find a parking spot. The restaurant itself is simple and unremarkable. Seven or so tables will likely accomodate 40 or so people. What we were not prepared for was how the food makes you completely forget about the spartan seating area. After being greeted by a friendly manager (I apologize for not getting his name), we decided on the FireFly burger and the double Smashburger. We rounded out the meal with fries and drinks. Oh. My. Lord. These burgers are amazing! Nicely charred outside but still juicy inside. FireFly using Halal beef, so you know the quality of the meat is among the best you'll find. Fries have a unique seasoning that seperates them froom most other burger joint fries. Absolutely delicious! If you want perhaps the best burger around, find this little gem on the corner of Chapman and Euclid in Garden Grove. I promise you won't regret it.

The order took a while to be ready but I guess that's to be expected as they are known for their crazy shakes! My mistake. The shake was HUGE. I don't know why I thought it would be a regular shake... #facepalm. My hubby's was a regular chocolate shake which was ok BUT mine was one of those crazy shakes and oh my... Was it SWEET!! The brownie was overly sweet without any chew... It felt like I was just eating mush as that is what the brownie felt like. It felt a little under baked. Yuck. I love brownies but I love the chew otherwise I would've gotten a cake instead. You know? The shake was overly sweet as well BUT, I know that it is a shake but I had to remove a star for the brownie as that seemed to be the main selling point of the shake that I got. So eh. My hubby liked his shake but when he tasted all the extra fixings on mine he said the same that he preferred his plain shake better. So yeah for pictures the crazy shake is awesome... But for flavor... The plain regular shakes were much better.

The staff were friendly and attentive. We arrived right before the dinner rush. The place had TVs on and music playing. It seemed like a fun place to eat and hang out. One of the staff mentioned how they were packed last weekend with all the FIFA games. We ordered take out - a classic Hammer Burger, a half order of chili cheese fries, and a small order of onion rings. Sauce station was near the soda, you could get whichever ones you liked. Despite our 15 minute drive home, the food was still warm and really delicious. The burger had good flavor with and without their house sauce. The chili cheese fries were skinny fries with a cheese sauce and bean-less chili. The chili was filling and had a little kick to it. The batter-fried onion rings were (still) crispy and yummy with both ranch and the house sauce. We will definitely be back to fill our smashburger and chili cheese fries cravings!
