The bipolar weather was in our favor so we sat outside on the patio of course for the beautiful golf green and ocean view. The service is always A1. I ordered the par 3 spritz and added tajin to the rim. It was refreshingly similar to a mojito but definitely strong. We shared a Caesar salad then got pizzas because they are always fantastic. We drove to Palm Beach Gardens for a few days with another couple. It was our first time for all of us dining at Al Fresco. It will not be our last. We all had an incredible meal. Fish of the Day, Salmon, Duck and dessert. We were greeted with smiles and seated immediately. We chose to sit inside as it was just a bit windy for our liking. We were seated at a table by the window and enjoyed the breathtaking view! Many patrons were dining outside. Our server, Andrea, was pleasant and attentive. We ordered the Al Fresco "Golfballs" appetizer for the table. Five veal and beef meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce. The flavor was well balanced. I always order duck if it is on the menu. In this case it was a roasted half duck in an apricot glaze. Every bite was mouthwatering. It was cooked to perfection; very tender, not greasy. I highly recommend Al Fresco! Ambience, service and location excellent. Disappointed in my lasagna, which I had there many times before. Since the new ownership, the proportion of meat to cheese was overwhelmingly favored to more meat than cheese, with an overwhelming taste of sausage. Positive: Location is beautiful. Overlooking golf course and Atlantic Ocean. Negative: Food is incredibly overpriced for the quality. Had the mussels and was actually quite foul tasting, not edible. Told our server not to serve it to patrons. She seemed uninterested. I paid for it and regretted I did not elevate to management. The three other people I was with also thought the quality of food was poor. I cannot recommend. There are much better places to dine that have atmosphere and better quality food. The food at Al Fresco was never consistent but since the renovation it has gone really downhill. Unfortunately so has the service and it seems like management got rid of a few excellent waiters but kept the one angry and unfriendly guy and if you are a regular you know who that is. We played a round of golf and then grabbed dinner upstairs above the pro shop. The chicken parm seems to be the go-to dish -- it was good, but not great. Surprisingly, the side pasta was perfect and the standout of the meal. It was already dark when we were there, but if you can, try to go earlier and take in the incredible ocean views. Been dining here for years...based on proximity and the view...this review is limited to the pizza...their version of the Neapolitan pizza has been a safe and tasty dining option...compared to their sketchy versions of Italian staples...said pizza has "a soft, thin crust, blistered in a wood-fired oven." Last night, we ordered two pizzas. They both tasted like cheap, frozen supermarket pizza. The crusts were cracker-like, with no characteristics of a classic Neapolitan pizza. The crust was so hard that they loudly crunched as you ate them. These pizzas could have been used as frisbees! The ingredients were bland, with no indicia of spice or taste. It can be pretty sitting on the deck outside, overlooking the golf course and a lick of ocean. It is pretty loud, and apparently the waitress repeated everyone's order back to us, but nobody heard it, and she did not hear us well enough either. Thus, I did not receive a main course, just my salad with everyone else's main. The special - a roast pear salad - sounded really good in theory, but the pears were quite vile. I'm not sure what they were marinated and cooked in. However, that ended up as my crummy meal. The waitress offered to get me my dish, but it would have not come out until my in-laws would have been done with their dinners and ready to go, so I could not do that. My daughter's linguini with clams was ok for her at best, but I did not care for it either. I don't understand the appeal. read more

I have eaten there before and had the best duck, calamari and dessert that i have raved about for a year but tonight we went and it was truly a disappointment. First duck was not crispy and was not tasty. The sauce was cherry. That was disgusting. Orange, plum or apricot would be normal. Pairing duck with cherry was bad idea. Potatoes were roasted and tasted like bad grease and deep fried. Asparagus was old and not good. Calamari went from a huge plate last time to barely covering the plate. Caesar salad had no croutons snd dressing did not taste right. I don't ever complain but did and waitress should have got manager but did not. Never going back. I have wanted to come here for years. I understand this is the sister restaurant to Renato's and Acqua Café. I called two weeks in advance to make week night dinner reservations for four. There was valet parking but plenty of spots to self park. The Al Fresco Restaurant & Bar is above the Palm Beach Par 3 Golf Club Pro Shop. There are indoor tables and seating on the open-air patio with spectacular oceanfront views. There were fans & a cool breeze, sitting outside was comfortable in the end of May. The dinner menu had something for everyone. Starters, salads, homemade pastas, risotto, pizza's and entrees including branzino, salmon, veal, ossobucco & four chicken options. There is a $7 fee for sharing entrees. We were seated on the patio, overlooking the golf course & ocean. Miguel our waiter took very good care of us, We started by sharing an eggplant rollatini appetizer, while friends enjoyed a portobello. I understand that they have homemade pastas here so I opted for lobster ravioli, and a pink cream sauce that was outrageous. My husband enjoyed the fettuccine Bolognese friends enjoyed the vongole with clams and a duck entree. For dessert we shared a chocolate moose over a brownie. Yelp asked me to rate Al Fresco which I've eaten at 50 times and probably reviewed previously. Like every other restaurant in PBC their prices are up quite a bit but still worth it on every level. Very good food, excellent staff, incredible ocean view dining overlooking beautiful par 3 golf course, efficient valet parking. Overall always a great experience. One of the few places in PBC you can get 0ssi Buco ($58). Never had a bad meal. Try their French Toast for breakfast. And Pizza for lunch. Enjoy!! read more

The views of the ocean and the golf course are fantastic! I found the food to be very average. The menu has salads, various appetizers such as calamari, sandwiches, pizzas, pasta entrees and seafood. I asked the waitress if the roasted turkey was deli meat or actually freshly baked turkey and she said t it was sliced bought turkey, I asked again, then she changed what she said and I was rather skeptical. My friend ordered the turkey sandwich and he said it was not deli turkey and that it was okay. Another friend ordered the BLT sandwich which he enjoyed. I went with a white pizza which has about six slices. The crust was very thin which I like and it was flaky, which was a little strange for pizza. I hate to review Al Fresco, I want to keep it as "the best kept secret in Lake Worth" -- Everything about this restaurant is awesome. It's a local place, definitely not a tourist attraction. The inside looks like a pub you would find at the 19th hole. Plaid, wood, cozy with a big bar. Outside covered terraces open up to the most amazing 300 degree views of the ocean. After we sat down I was fumbling with my rigid wallet and unknowingly i dropped a big-headed $20. I actually did drop the money (FWIW, I was asked the previous week at an Atlanta location by my table mates if I dropped a $100-bill...I had not). We dined outside on the screened deck overlooking the golf course and the ocean. Even on a warm day, the breeze will keep you comfortable. Besides TRUSTY staff, the service was wonderful, even though it was quite busy. Our water glasses were never empty, and I drink like a camel. The food options were plenty. Our choices for lunch were fresh and plentiful. Very reasonably priced. Overall, a very pleasant experience and worth your visit. A bonus: They are open 7-days and offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Great place to go for many reasons I am told, so as local Palm Beachers we decided to give it a go. I guess it was, just a bad experience for us today. We arrived for an early dinner at 5pm without a reservation. The hostess stand had no one in sight of authority. I asked her if we could sit at one of the other (5) tables on the side which were not in direct sunlight and had a nice view if the golf course and ocean. She said all those tables were held for reservations. Hmmmmmmmm....... When we were signing our check at 6:05pm not a soul had occupied any of the (5) tables. We never saw a manager or anyone who appeared to be in authority. No one stopped by to see how our dinning experience was going. No refills were offered on water, or if we wanted anything else. We saw our waiter twice. Once when taking the order and lastly when I flagged him down to get my check. For service I give this place 2 stars. We ordered the chicken parmigiana which was huge and served with a small bowl of dry and tasteless pasta. Never again. My boyfriend ordered the cheese ravioli. The ravioli was slightly tough and undercooked. We ordered a round of drinks that never came. Heading out the door, I asked the hostess about those (5) empty tables that remained empty. She told me they had reservations on them at 7pm. So, they sit empty for TWO HOURS and you put the 5pm guests in the direct sunlight and view of the parking lot? Clearly, she couldn't give a damn. Morale to the story: Palm Beach is full of amazing restaurants with spectacular food and service. Stick to what works and avoid trying someplace new. read more
