The Hideout is a cute little hidden gem in the judicial area, and the amazing guy behind the counter was so nice. I was waiting on someone at the court house and was nervous about walking around downtown alone. The breakfast sandwich with ham, egg and cheese on a croissant was home style and yummy. And I got to charge my phone. I'll go back! I hear the cheeseburgers are good. read more

Never in a million years did I think this little "hole in the wall" would be so good, but I was wrong. It was not only good, it was great. A smallish place with about 10 tables and a long counter with seating. Very clean looking inside and staffed with exceptionally friendly people. My server was engaging and thoughtfu and the food she served me was well prepared and presented. TBH the food was like eating in a gourmet restaurant. I had the chicken Caesar salad and it was a monster salad. A huge plate filled with fresh greens and a moist well cooked chicken breast filet. I would happily eat here every day if I could. read more

I get the bacon, egg and cheese on a plain bagel at least once a week and it never disappoints. Pleasantly surprised at the courthouse! I had some business at the West Palm Beach Courthouse this morning and needed a quick place for breakfast before heading out to the airport. Let's face it, courthouses are not know for their culinary selection and expectations are normally very low in terms of food quality and service. So you can imagine how pleasantly surprised I was when I saw this place. The restaurant is clean, nice decor and the staff is very friendly. Our breakfast was fantastic. I had the eggs and bacon and my companion had spinach/feta omelette. Well prepared, fresh ingredients and great presentation. The food was absolutely delicious - and the service was awesome. It's a quick order at the counter and take a seat spot -- with no frills to their presentation and decor. Funny thing, Teresa. I was at the counter when you called. The person that answered the phone couldn't hear you, and they used a land line. So maybe the carrier you use needs some work. I eat here quite a bit and never had a problem. Good food, good service at a great price. You cant beat that! read more

Breakfast restaurants seem few and far between in downtown West Palm Beach, especially Monday - Friday. This was an easy walk for us and the food was great! The restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated. The prices were reasonable and the service was excellent! We will definitely be back and are excited to also order from the lunch menu. read more

Howley's is managed by the Sub-Culture Group, and we dine regularly at Kapow in East Boca and Dada in Delray Beach, also managed by Sub-Culture. And while this is an entirely different type of food, I still wanted to take a chance and check them out. And we did and were pleased and more than satisfied. First, the decor is truly funky. I'm not sure if everything is from the 50's when they first opened, but it sure looked like it was. The restaurant was spotless, and the toilet was as well. The AC was strong which was appreciated. Artwork on the walls was not our style but must have been from a local artist. Ceiling fixtures were similar to what my parent's had in the late 60's. Jessica was our server and she was professional and positive in her attitude. Could not have asked for anything more. Decided to order a turkey club on rye bread ($15) with fries which were included and share it. Some of the reviews addressed how large their portions were and photos confirmed it. Jessica brought out the sandwich which was split in the kitchen with an ample amount of fries on each plate. The fries were delicious. Obviously freshly made and not sitting around, they were crisp without being overcooked. The turkey was described as fresh roasted sliced turkey and it sure was. Bacon was plentiful and crispy along with fresh lettuce and tomato. Mayo served on the side as requested. The sandwich was so large that I was only able to eat a half of my half, taking the rest home for the following day. Ordered a corn muffin and chocolate chip muffin to take home and each was fresh and delicious. ($5-$6) Howley's certainly warrants a visit if you are in the area and not seeking a trendy looking place which exists all over West Palm where the food may not be as good but the vibe is what is being sold with mediocre food. There was an on-site manager who visited our table to make sure all was good. I neglected to ask her name and apologize - she was welcoming and clearly on top of her managerial duties. We brought the issue to the attention of the manager, who acknowledged it initially but never returned to follow up. To their credit, the salmon was removed from the bill and an alternative dish was offered. However, the overall experience still fell far short of what should be expected at this price point and reputation level. What disappointed me most was not simply the food itself, but the complete lack of genuine hospitality and ownership from management. Strong restaurants understand that service recovery matters just as much as the meal. There's a reason establishments like The Capital Grille or Flagler Steakhouse have earned reputations for professionalism and customer care. She suggested sweet plantains to go with it and white rice with beans which is traditional Cuban (instead of yellow rice). IT WAS FABULOUS! It was crispy on the outside and juicy. The mole was flavorful but not spicy and i appreciated that the meat was not dripping in sauce. My dinner date ordered chicken tamales which were seasoned in a Cuban style with yellow rice. She is used to Mexican tamales but said these really hit the spot! The only blemish on the nice was her second margarita which was the cucumber one which she didn't like at all.
