    Sleds in the showroom

Al and his brother were a huge help in getting my two mid 1990's Arctic Cat snowmobiles up to shape. I made a number of visits to their business and most of the time, they had what I needed in stock. Not bad at all considering my sleds were made 20 years ago. And a I needed a lot of random fasteners and other parts; not the usual spark plugs or spare ignition keys. Al and his brother are really helpful! I spent a lot of time there talking about snowmobiling in Vermont and asking questions as it related to my sleds. They both made time and never rushed me along. I want to say on one of my visits, I was there for probably an hour. Really helpful and they know their stuff! It's my first stop for parts.

Friendly. competent service! Al Joy Tire Service fixed our tire on the spot and saved our vacation!

I wholeheartedly agree with another yelper who mentioned in their review that this business is a serious hidden gem in plain sight here in Bristol. Well, TBH it's a little out of plain sight, only because they're around the back of the building from the street. It's so easy to continue driving right by them. In today's climate since covid hit, we all know everything has increased in price dramatically. So I find myself doing something I've never done, let alone thought of doing. That thing is purchasing used tires. Prior to covid for the last several years, anytime I've purchased 4 new tires, whether they've been all season or snow tires I've always paid in the range of the mid to high five hundreds for all 4 new tires installed. Lately for the past year the prices I've been quoted are in the mid to high eight hundred dollar range. I have called numerous tire businesses. Too many to count. I had to try something different as an option. I contacted the owner (Wesley) and we spoke a while on the phone. He also gave me the option of new tires. He needs 1 day lead time to get them delivered if that's the route you want to go. He peaked my curiosity after speaking to him on the phone so I showed up a while later that day to see what used tires he had in stock. He was decent on the phone. Not a knucklehead like a lot of them that you deal with at times. He purchases over 100 tires a week he mentioned. After looking at a handful of used tire options I decided on 4 used tires. I got lucky that he had 4 of the same make/manufacturer (brand name). He balanced them and then he and one of his workers installed them and I was good to go for $200 I didn't have any issues. The vehicle didn't shake nor did the steering wheel shake either upon driving. This tire shop is by no means anything fancy or upscale. It's like one of those places such as a hole in the wall restaurant that many of us find that we love. Or your neighborhood bar. That's this tire shop. They're incredible!!! Your friendly neighborhood tire shop. No fuss no muss. It's one of those types of places with very good pricing. It's a no frills kind of shop. Bare bones and as basic as you can get with phenomenal prices. He also quoted me very good prices for new tires but I wanted to try something different for a change. Kudos to your and your business buddy. Looking forward to many more transactions with you and your team. Job well done. ***The tires have lasted me for several months and I've had zero issues.*** He's also a family man. Great guy, great work ethic. Honest and reliable business. You guys rock.

Rolando, Mi Hermano!…read more First of all, $25 for a mounted and balanced used tire is one of the best deals in town. As I briefly perused the inventory, most of his tires have a lot of life left. Will you get a matching set of four? Probably not, but can you argue with $100 to replace ALL your tires? Perfect for someone with a beater that just uses their car to get around town and doesn't see any sense in spending much for new tires. More important to this review: my situation. Balancing tires is somewhat of an art form. And god did I have some horrendous tires and wheels on my truck. Honestly, they were beyond repair. But even so, Rolando and his helper ALMOST got rid of all the vibration related to poor balancing on my original wheels. It was a good job given what he had to work with. But finally, I had it with the stock tires and wheels. So two weeks later, I craigslisted me a nice set of gently used alloy wheels with Goodyear Kevlar All-Terrain tires on them, and I took them straight to Ronaldo. He ran into some challenges during the balancing process, but the result? PURRRRRRFECT. No vibration whatsoever. And amazingly, he charges $5 to mount and balance a tire. CRAZY! I tip him every time. Technically, the total cost of services rendered during my two visits was $55, but I've paid him $80. Worth it. Yeah, it's just a little tire shop crammed into a garage in New Britain. But aren't people more important than presentation? Ronaldo Cruz is a good man, and you should give him your business for sure. Hablan Español!

I asked for the tire rotation and balance and didn't get or pay for it, but didn't really have time this time. They do speak Spanish here....with an interpreter on hand. Hours on Saturday were 8-6pm...was a little tough to communicate that and get an answer. They were ready to replace my 120$ Hancook tires with a 25 dollar tire...which would have been fine. But I made it clear I wanted to keep my tire if at all possible, and they removed a 1 inch screw and just charged me for the patch, which I would have to say is honesty since I dropped it off and picked it up. Always a pleasure supporting New Britain/Connecticut City businesses. Muchas Gracias Cruz!

I want to start out this review by saying I've been going back and forth with wanting to leave out…read morethe negative parts of my experience. Because really, everything was made right in the end. But at the end of the day, my integrity matters too much to me, and to be honest, I don't think I'll be back regardless. So here it goes. I chose this place after a couple prior inquiries I made to them over the phone in the recent past were both very positive. I made an appointment for 2:00 one afternoon for an engine light diagnosis. I showed up about fifteen minutes prior on the off chance that they could get it done a little early. No such luck. But that's fine, that was on me. I was sitting there for a good hour after my scheduled appointment and they hadn't even brought my car in yet. At one point around the hour mark the mechanic poked his head in the waiting area and said "Your car is going in now". Half hour later, it still hadn't moved. Finally almost twenty minutes after that, they figured out what repairs I needed and asked if I wanted to get it done right then. I obviously said yes. Since I, like most others, work and have very little time for things like that. After about ten more minutes of determining if they could get the part or whatever, I guess it was too close to closing to get it done and they didn't have the staff. He then explained if I left my car overnight it would be the first one they worked on the next morning and It would be ready by Noon. Then a bit further into the conversation, he changed it to 2. (???) Reluctantly, I left my car there and walked home in the scorching heat and sun because I didn't have any other way home, and was in too much of a time crunch to get my repair done. I have worked my fair share of retail, and although not quite the same, I am still very familiar with the concept of being really busy and under staffed. The next afternoon after 2pm I arrived by Uber (Even though I heard nothing from the guy I dealt with the previous day who said that he would call me, and my two phone calls to them went unanswered) to see my car sitting outside, which I thought was a good sign. Well, no such luck again. They hadn't even started it yet. I immediately saw red and broke down. The manager was very apologetic. The guy I dealt with the previous day wasn't even there (he made it sound like he was the one who was doing the work) and didn't communicate anything to the employees working the next day that my car was promised by a certain time. I was absolutely furious. I wouldn't have bothered to leave my car there overnight (which HE PUSHED ME TO DO for efficiency sake and it turned out to be a huge inconvenience to me) if I knew that he was going to drop the ball. All of that being said, the manager did extremely right by me. She is incredibly kind and went above beyond. In the end, I was extremely grateful for everything she did do make the situation right, and I can't stress that enough. However, the gentlemen that I dealt with the prior day definitely needs some additional training in customer service and communication. One of the things the manager offered me as compensation was a free oil change, which to be honest, after everything I don't think I'll even bother to redeem. I just don't have it in me. It may seem a little dramatic, but having work done on my car gives me so much anxiety as it is and I just don't want to face any of them again. My last point is, I can't stress enough how kind the manager was to me, and I really appreciated that.
