I just ordered some food to pick up. Had to wait a few mins for them to finish it which i didnt mind. I ordered what i always do, the mixed grill with 3 meats and let me tell you, this is not the same place as a year ago to the day when i was last here. The nice couple that use to be in the back and trated you like family and cooked amazing food is no longer there (i asked). Flavors changed, food is not bad but it is not great as it used to be. The quantity is 1/3 of what it used to be. Literally 2 pieces of lamb that was overcooked and sry, 4 thin slices of chicken breast that was dry instead of the old chicken thighs, the beef kafta looked like a vienna sausage instead of the old huge pattie, barely any french fries, the hummus was obviously less and didnt look as fresh. I went there today cause i was close by and wanted great food. I am very disappointed at the quality and quantity. The price went down a few dollars from a year ago but man i wish the old couple was there charging more for more food and better flavor. Unfortunately i am off to find a new place because i am so disappointed that i'll never come back. It was great while it lasted.

Genuinely the best shawarma I have ever had. My boyfriend and I were looking for a good local spot as we were leaving Busch gardens and this IS IT!! If you are in the area please check them out! Their fries are amazing too!! Also the food was sooo good I didn't take a before pic.

Wow amazing tasting food, highly recommend this place. Get the spinach pies! These are delicious. Not sure what all the ingredient are in this but it's a bit tart and tangy and so good. I got the Ckicken Kabab plate with 2 sides. The chicken was soft, moist, amazing smoky flavor. My friend got the other chicken plate, his chicken had more herbs, spices, not a smoky flavor, I had a taste of this it was it also amazing. The worker was so helpful and nice, this was our first time coming here, we took awhile to decide, he let us taste the chicken and didn't rush us at all. The restaurant is located in far back of the supermarket. They have 2 booths for dine in. Get your own drinks in the fridge at front of the store, I think water bottle is free and included in the meal but if you want any other drink pay for it at the counter.

Wow! My food journey continues to be amazing in 2022. I stumbled upon this great store the other day. You walk into a friendly atmosphere and a clean, organized store. Then, the aromas from the Cafe in the back take over, and you find your suddenly hungry. The owner was so nice and answered all my questions about the figs , pita bread and unique foods. I made my way to the Cafe where I sampled some roasted chicken and soup. The flavors were very good, and I saw they had Lamb Kabobs on the menu. I haven't had much Lamb since I went to the Netherlands. So, I was hopeful. They explained to me all of their meat is fresh, never frozen. They don't even have a freezer. No chemicals or added fats or hormones and all of their meats and chicken are raised ethically. The Lamb was so amazing that I was able to cut it with my fork, and the mild flavor of the Lamb made me so happy. I had some of their fresh garlic sauce and spicy chimichuri as an accompaniment and bounced between the sauces and just the meat. The rice was perfectly cooked, the homemade humus was so fresh and smooth I couldn't stop eating it. I even took a few bites of my lunch partners steak. So good. For desert, I had the most incredible baklava, i am normally not a fan. The outside was flaky and not too sweet; the finish was creamy and the pistachio was a unique experience. If you are in Brandon or even close to Brandon you need to go here .

Sometimes it's love at first bite. This is definitely what happened today when I visited for the first time at lunch. I've been looking for a good Mediterranean restaurant to replace the one that I loved that is under new management now. Al Madina is now my new home for Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food. Oh sure, I had read some of the reviews before deciding to try it but I wasn't expecting such an awesome experience. I went in thinking I would just order the typical mixed grill with rice, but changed my mind right away when I saw the freshly grilled chicken shawarma. Yes, the one on the menu that says it's grilled over an open flame. Amazing! I was even blown away when they asked if I wanted to try a piece before ordering it. One taste was all it took. They offered more samples but I knew already what I wanted based on the owners recommendations. I got the chicken shawarma platter with the grilled veggies (zucchini mixture) along with the hummus and tabbouli. He drizzled the most aromatic and tasty olive oil ever on top of the hummus & tabbouli and now I want to go back and buy the olive oil. The grocery store itself was amazing and immaculately clean. They had so many brand name items from the Middle East and even Turkish coffee makers and serving ware. I saw various brands of baklava, pastries, and candies for holiday gift giving. There is so much more but my visit was strictly for the food. I made my selections after getting recommendations. Everything they recommended was amazing. The food is healthy and fresh. The chicken was tender and juicy. The veggies were full of flavor. Who needs rice when you have veggies this good? I wish I had taken a picture of the veggies underneath the chicken but I just couldn't stop eating it. I am not ashamed to say that I ate everything. I even added some of the left over hummus to the remaining veggies to elevate it to the next level. The veggies tasted like they were grilled over an open flame too. It had a little of the char and smoky flavor. I don't ever go crazy over veggies but I did today. The pita was also a great compliment to the meal. As you see from the pictures, I really enjoyed every bite. The tabbouli was also very fresh and tasty. I don't say that often about tabbouli either. I can't wait to go back to try other menu items. I believe they have daily specials too, but they have quite a good variety of items on the menu. The chimichurri steak and chicken looks like something I want to try next. The whole family is so warm and inviting. Believe it when you read it in other reviews. The service is top notch. The food is totally cooked with love. I could tell right away. It's a true hidden gem inside a Mediterranean grocery store that is family owned. Why didn't I try it sooner? I know hubby will love it too. Don't pass it up if you're in the area.

Went in for the first time earlier today and it was quiet. Browsed and found their variety nice- a little bit of everything from spices, meats, dried herbs and a variety of flatbreads and frozen goods. The hot food was the main appeal for me, and the people behind the counter were so warm and welcoming! We were offered several samples of items we were curious about, and the food didn't take long at all, gave us enough time to browse and get tempted by the baklava being sold up front! The lamb was cooked a perfect medium as requested, the tabbouleh was fresh and crisp, the baba ghanouj was creamy, garlicky and a little spicy in the best way. I can heartily recommend this place to anyone not only looking to support local businesses and families, but also to anyone who wants to support good food.

WOOOAAAHHHH! Just woahh! You already know i loved my visit! I have driven by this establishment many times but never noticed it. While on one of my shenanigans many months ago. I met a gentleman which we shared restaurant, grocery stores and many other locations of interests we both have found and fallen in loved with. Outa everything he mentioned, he kept coming back to this one store hidden in plain sight on Kings street in Brandon. He said that he has become accustomed to always stop here for lunch or dinner and even to do a bit of grocery shopping. I kept forgetting about it and after i went to the bank to get a consultation on a loan. I remembered about this place because on the way out? You can freaking see the sign from there! You wouldn't believe me but i was collecting acorns at the moment. Lol i got a tad too exited over the acorn season getting here finally! I make flour n a Native American coffee alternative during acorn season. A story for another time. I drove over from the bank and went into Yelper Journalist mode. The store looks tiny from the outside. But it's actually a medium build. It is divided by two sections. The main area is the grocery store and on the back theres a small restaurant built in. You will get enamored by the beautiful smell of Levantine Food in the air! Oh my god! It is thing gentle touch of herbs and spices. As you come in, don't forget to grab a basket. They are hidden between the window n the cash register. I didn't see them, i felt like asking when i was carrying my mother's huge jar of olives and other food items. I been encouraging her to go out more and who better to keep her safe while out on shenanigans than me? The store looks like is the main hub for locals and people whom share the same culture. Staff was very nice n pleasant. They had many foreign drinks, near the entrance n back. A frozen ingredient called jute leaves, i will buy next time when i figure out how to use it. Many meats, yogurt drinks of many sizes, pastries dough. Including fylo dough. I love using those for dessert making for the holidays. I bought two boxes for $2.90, best price i seen anywhere. They had a couple types of baklava in the freezer, outside displays and by another display in the cash register. They look like they sell the pallet size ones for parties or a nice bad bender with "Netflix and Baklava" lol between the isles they had the herbs and spices. Canned products like; meat patties, fish, stuffed grape leaves and vegetables. Huge jars of olives in many styles. The last isle was an impressive wall of nothing but herbs and spices. There was a nice display of different types of teas. Huge jar for about $4.95 a pop! You would make bank buying the whole crate and selling them in a fair ground! Tourist would eat up everything they got for sale here. Everything we saw was at a beautiful price tag! Now before leaving i offered lunch to my mom and walked myself into the kitchen area. This was just a wonderful interaction with the kitchen staff. I asked the madam for the special of the day. It was roast chicken and the stuffed....... For the life of me i forgot what it was called, but i ate the hell outa it when i got home. It was like a lasagna or pastellon. It had mushrooms in onions with lamb. I went with the salad for the chicken and i went with potato salad. Both brought a wonderful ling grain rice in spices. They also included a flat bread that was just heavenly done! I had to eat mine when we stopped at a store cuz my sugar went weeeee n i had to eat it. I had a funny event happen when one of the young men noticed i was taking pictures. He asked me to take a picture of all three of them. I told them i was a yelper n i do positive reviews. The two gentlemen got very happy and started posing, then the other one wanted the madam in the shot, but she didn't want to. It was very cute interaction n i did everything to respect her n not take her face picture. She asked me if i did n i reassured her no face shot just her covering her face. I also am the same way unless I'm in an event activity. After paying they were very delightful, thank me and blessed my day. On the way out we paid our groceries. The madam up front was so kind to. She gave us a free treat; Maria cookies! I love these with coffee! I seriously had a wonderful experience visiting them. Saw a lot of traffic come in and buy for the duration of my visit. Families and folks of all walks. Came in and left with supplies. I will definitely come back and highly recommend them every time i meet someone that wants to try new things.

I just had one of the best dinners of my life! Everything I had so far from this place has been incredibly flavorful and full of life. The food they serve here has a lot of soul. The baba ghanouj is nice and smoky and so are their meats. The salads are fresh and taste amazing! They also have many ingredients sold here on the grocery store side for you to put together yourself at home. I love the variety of spices they have here which make cooking fun. I read the other reviews and became curious. Glad I fulfilled my curiosity. It was worth it! I look forward to many visits!

SOOOOO happy i stumbled upon this place! up til now, i had been driving to st. pete for mediterranean market shopping. Al Madina is so close to me & they have everything i want!!! the guy that works the front (young guy with a beard) is really nice, super helpful too. he let me try one of their date cookies that his uncle make- WOW, so delicious!! i do all my shopping for my mediterranean food & supplies! I don't make it to this spot as often as I'd like but when I do it's a treat! Part of my heritage is Lebanese so every time I walk in here my mind wanders.... the food smells amazing and everyone is so nice. Last I was in I got lamb and rice.... sooooo delicious! And nice size portions as well. I recommend the zatar bread, I love it! I also recommend grabbing some sheep's milk cheese. So creamy and tastes so good. read more

I got off of work early and had some extra time before picking the kids up from school. I've driven by this place at least once a week for years but have never gone in. The store is smaller than I was expecting but very well organized, which is helpful when many of the products are labeled in other languages. The woman at the front counter was very kind and helped me to pick out some spice mixes to use at home and offered tips and n their use as well. I also purchased some hot food from the vendors at the back of the store. I wasn't sure what to order, and they were kind enough to make me a little sample platter. Everything was delicious! I'm kicking myself for having slept on this gem for so many years. read more

Thank you to the super kind owners of this restaurant/grocery store! We really enjoyed the falafel, chicken shawarma, grape leaves, hummus and more! My dad is the "Simply the Best" and my mom is the "Falafel Queen" when it comes to making falafel... it's hard to find anything that compares to theirs! This place is the best Kabob place ever!! We ordered Kofta Kabob, Lamb Kabob, and Beef Chimichurri. The Kofta Kabob was juicy and tender. The Chimichurri was tender with a nice spicy kick. My favorite, the lamb, was so flavorful and tender. Everything was fresh and homemade. The hummus and baba ghanouj were so good. We could have eaten it by itself. The staff was very friendly and gave us free samples of the Chimichurri and Grape Leaf. The Grape leaf was delicious. This place was like a hidden gem! Love it! read more

I stopped in here tonight with a friend and was immediately impressed by how welcoming and friendly they were. It was our first time visiting, and the man took time to tell us about everything and even gave us a sample so we could decide what we wanted. We wound up ordering dinner and it was absolutely delicious beyond expectations! So happy to have a hidden gem like this locally, and to be able to support such a great family. My fiancé found this gem and when I say gem I mean it. Upon walking in we were greeted by a friendly lady, we wanted to order food first so she should us the restaurant section. Everything looked so amazing and fresh. We wanted to order chicken and SHE LET US TASTE IT! That's quality customer service, it tasted heavenly. We order the chicken over rice and two zatar/onion pies everything was amazing! We went on and explored the store, purchased some Turkish coffee some amazing drinks that were delicious and some cookies. We noticed a case next to the register with baked pastries, get this WE WERE GIVEN A TASTE AGAIN! this time it was explained to us as a fried donut with honey it in. AMAZING, like a gift from the clouds. Of course we ordered the donuts and baklava, I'm not normally a fan of baklava but omg these were just little but clouds of heaven. Needless to say I will be back and I will be bringing my family and friends here because everything from the service to the food was amazing. (I didn't get a pic of the dessert because I ate all of it lol) read more

Located in back of Al Madina store and run separately from the store is a hidden Mediterranean gem. The couple running this place knows what they are doing. My wife and I went here for the first time and were greeted warmly and welcomed to sample about 6 different dishes. Every single thing was delicious the vegan dishes, the lamb, the beef, the chicken were all cooked perfectly and accompanied by various spices and great homemade dips/sauces. If you are looking for the best Mediterranean spot in the Brandon area and possibly Tampa, look no further! This is mainly take out as there are just two booths located in the front store, we did eat half at the booth and took the rest home as portions are huge. read more

Great food. Friendly owners. It was my first time here and they were warm and welcoming. I was provided samples so that I could decide what to get. Everything was wonderful. I ended up getting the chicken shawarma with hummus and tabbouleh. I was a ton of food and was fantastic. This will definitely become part of my rotation. I wish I had come here sooner. Just tried to call to place an order after seeing the great reviews on this place. Sadly, I didn't have the good fortune others did when placing an order. The first call went to a fax machine so I waited a few minutes then tried again. I'm not sure who answered the phone, but he was extremely rude. He was saying something I did not understand. I said I was trying to place a takeout order. Then I clearly heard him yell into the phone "Kitchen closed!" Then he hung up on me! How RUDE! Terrible terrible customer service!! How am I supposed to know their kitchen is closed when Yelp shows they are open???!!! I will never give this place my business if they think it is okay to treat customers in this manner. Learn some customer service skills! Your attitude sucks! read more

This is place is a hidden gem. I use to visit the old location every week, but now with the new location it's a little out of my way. However the distance does not stop me. The Chicken Shawarma is the best in Brandon, I also love the hummus with beef shawarma. The food is always fresh and the customer service is always welcoming. It's a must try and I promise you will fall in love. read more

I've been going here for years. The food is always very hot and fresh. My go-to is the spicy falafel sandwich. It's a wrap with falafel, vegetables, choice of hot sauce (or not) and yogurt sauce. Ive tried lamb, gyros, and baklava from them too, which were all delicious. This place also makes delicious fresh pitas daily; they are honestly the best pitas I've tried. The service is also fast and friendly. I'll call for a pickup order and it'll be ready before I get there -I live less than half a mile away-. I love Al Madina and will continue to dine here as long as I live in Brandon. read more

Absolutely the BEST! If you are looking for great middle eastern food....seek out this place in Brandon. I try ALL the Middle East restaurants an this is by far the BEST. I recently ordered so catering for my Lebanese mothers 90th and it was authentic and fantastic. Sam and Sarah were so incredibly friendly and gave me tastings of many of the foods. This is the most authentic food you can imagine, the service is like a five-star restaurant, and it is impossible to imagine anyone not loving the food. I have sampled pretty much half the menu with my family. My parents are regulars here. If you come here you will not regret it, and they are especially wonderful if you come with your children read more

After living/working in the Middle East off/on since 2008 I do crave the food every now and then.This spot fits the bill especially their falafel sandwich...yum! I've purchased other goods at the store including the fresh pita bread.Good spot to visit for all your Middle Eastern needs. read more

Such a hidden gem tucked away in this area...so much that I'm hesitant to write a review! You see, there is a little "deli" in the back of this Middle Eastern grocery store. They can prepare sandwiches when you're on the run (beef/chicken shawarma, gyros, roasted lamb wraps, etc) and they also have a small buffet with hot meals like roasted chicken, roasted lamb, meatball dish, and a few sides to add. I attempt to try something different each time but my go-to is the roasted lamb wrap. If you have a sweet tooth, they also have a selection of bakery items near the register which I have to assume are baked in house as well? The staff is always very friendly and seem eager to guide those along who are slightly unfamiliar with the cuisine. Don't hesitate to add Al Madina to your weekly lunch spot rotation, but please, leave some for me! read more

Just tried this place today and it was fabulous! The portions are huge and the food is very filling and tasty! The spices in the food give it a wonderful flavor with out being spicy at all. The chicken shawarma sandwich was filled with tender chicken and veggies. Tzatziki sauce on the side was fresh and crisp. I also tried the yellow rice which had a warm cinnamon flavor. Staff was very friendly and happy to answer my questions since I had never been there before. On Fridays they have a bigger buffet and I plan to come back then with my kids. They have a small seating area, though today I got my order to go (working today). Would highly recommend! read more

I was in Florida because of a death in my family. I was in the area of this restaurant because I needed to get a Covid-19 test. After testing I wanted to get something to eat. I had a taste for a Gyro sandwich. I searched and this place came back. It sits off street in something of a strip mall area kind of. The front area appears to be a small convience/grocery store type that you can buy middle eastern type items, and the rear area is the restaurant. I ordered the Gyro for myself and the chicken Shawarma with Humus and salad for my mom. The Gyro was tender, flavorful and delicious. I tasted the chicken from my mom's dish and it was just as tasty. I would recommend. 1 star off only because of the location isn't so easy to get to. read more

It's been 2+ yrs since I've been here and the food is just as amazing and the owners are just as nice! Today was the day I had to make my way back here to get their mixed grill with rice and mint salad. Definitely worth the drive from St. Pete hands down!!! read more

Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. I stopped in around 3:00 p.m. and was happy to see it wasn't busy. I went to the deli counter, waited for someone to serve me, ordered my chicken salad, grabbed a soda and chips, and headed to the open register. As I walked up, the cashier called another customer over ahead of me. I waited while he spent several minutes deciding whether to pay cash or by card because of the 4% card fee. I continued standing there with my three items, to the point that I actually set them down and debated walking out. Then, instead of helping me, the cashier motioned for an entire family to come to the registereven though I had been standing there waiting before they arrived. After that, she waved over another customer, and I had to wait while a mother and her two teenagers decided which desserts they wanted. Again, I stood there patiently. When it was finally my turn, there was no greeting, no "thank you for waiting," nothing. The first thing I was asked was, "Do you have a pickup order?" I said no. She then motioned for my chicken salad container, saying she needed it. I placed it on the scale and set my other items on the counter. The cashier then asked, "Are you okay?" I simply shook my head because, honestly, I wasn't. Instead of recognizing why I was frustrated, she continued talking, making comments, and escalating the interaction rather than simply ringing me up. At that point, I asked, "Do you want to argue? Do you want me to go back and forth with you?" I then asked who the manager was. She pointed to a woman beside her, who identified herself as the owner. I asked if she could ring me up instead. Even then, the cashier continued making comments. It was only after she continued engaging me that my voice became louder in response. Rather than addressing the repeated comments from her employee or asking what had happened, the owner immediately said, "Do not raise your voice at my employee." That response was disappointing. There was no concern for the customer experience, no apology for repeatedly being skipped in line, and no attempt to resolve the situation. There was also no acknowledgment that the interaction had been escalated by the cashier's continued remarks before I ever raised my voice. The irony is that I have spent a significant amount of money catering from Frankie's Deli over the years because my customers love the food. Good food will bring people in once. Great customer service keeps them coming back. Sadly, this experience ended that relationship for me. There are plenty of places with great food, but respect and customer service matter just as much. One final thought: this is Florida not NY. Hospitality goes a long way. The aggressive, dismissive attitude I experienced isn't what I expect when supporting a local business. I won't be back.

After driving 30 minutes to that place in Plant City and realizing this, we decided, "why not drive some more?". Josephine's was on my radar due to their great reviews across multiple platforms, so we drove another 20-30 minutes to check it out. We arrived at the unsuspecting strip plaza, walked in to what was just one well lit, cozy strip in the plaza and were immediately greeted by Robby, the owner, who asked us if it was our first time in. We let him know that it was, and he proceeded to educate us on everything they have to offer, from their bar, their sandwiches, pizzas, salads, pastas, grocery and so on... the meatball sandwich was calling my name, along with their pizzas and their pastas - so many choices! I did land on the meatball sandwich and got a bag of chips and a glass of wine while my friend got the Italian salad and a coke. For note, this ran us about $45. It was well worth it. The meatball sandwich was 10" and was stuffed with fully ground beef meatballs, seasoned well and very cheesy - so good. I tasted the salad and it was great as well, with plenty of parmesan cheese to cover up the taste of leaves that I was consuming (I'm not a vegetables guy still). While we were dining at the bar, Robby took a bit more time to tell us how the store came to be, being named after his grandmother who, though she wasn't around to see what he had started, would no doubt be very proud as his/his employee service was excellent and the food was no different. At the end of our experience, Robby took our payment and we explored the store a bit. Robby was kind enough to offer me two of their mini cannolis and my friend a scoop of their salted caramel gelato on the house as a way of saying thank you for coming in; again, EXCELLENT service. Since leaving there yesterday, I have recommended the place to 7 people and will continue recommending it to more people due to their great value, service and delicious food. Huge thanks to Robby and the team at Josephine's for knowing how to do things the right way. I'll definitely be back.

Things I did not love about Jason's: too long to order, the place was incredibly LOUD, with screaming children and crying babies as far as the ear could hear, the potato chips that came with my sandwich were all broken into tiny pieces, the ice cream in the machine was a melty blob, and the muffins that looked like chocolate were actually gingerbread, and terrible, so don't be fooled. If I go back, it won't be on a weekend.

This is hands down one of the absolute best Middle Eastern stores in the Branden area! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with incredible friendliness and top-notch customer service.
