    Chicken Tikka Masala Garlic Naan
    Parag B.

This is a great place for take-out or dine-in. I got the chicken tikka with garlic naan. The portion looked small but it was a lot of food. The chicken was burnt a little (on the edges), but it was delicious. Naan was hand made and huge! I recommend the garlic naan! Also, it is a grocery store! I got mango juice and kombucha. Come to this place and try it out

I ordered in person and it took less than 5 minutes for the food to be prepared. I got the paneer tikka masala wrap and asked for it to be made mild since I can't handle spicy unfortunately. They have great food and for a very reasonable price which I really appreciate. I ordered a CHICKEN MALAI PLATTER with medium spice, highly recommend. They have great quality chicken that is cooked soft, their rice is the perfect texture, their salad was fresh, and their spices are a perfect blend. I also highly recommend their CHICKEN PARATHA WRAP! The sauces on this were SOOOO GOOD! Plus, the sauces they have on the side: tamarind sauce, mint sauce, and spicy ketchup are all good. I drowned my chicken platter in a mix of tamarind and mint. Also highly recommend their French fries that are tossed in some spices. Their MANGO LASSI and CHAI are also perfect. That's how you can tell this family knows what they are doing. I would go out of my way to come back here if I had to. I look forward to trying their other chicken platters, paneer dishes, and their curry French fries. This is a great small business with caring business owners. I'm talking about a tiny Middle Eastern kitchen inside the Berkeley Organic Market. I just happened on this spot as I was walking and feeling peckish in the family-friendly Elmwood neighborhood. One woman was behind the counter, so I assumed she was not only the face of Badan, she was Badan. I ordered the $9.99 Falafel Plate with three freshly deefalafel balls, hummus, baba ganoush, and a salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, turnip, pickles, and feta cheese (photo). It came with a fluffy pita quartered for easier scooping. The market only has one table out on the sidewalk which I shared with a young mother and her daughter. I can say unequivocally that everything tasted fresh. I believe the woman who prepared my plate made everything that morning, and it made me want to come back and try the shawarma, the lentil soup, and the wraps. Great balls. You're welcome. Of course, I also had to order a tahini chocolate cookie, which ended up being the star of the show. The braised lamb itself was tender and juicy, but to be honest there were way too many herbs on top (dill, parsley, mint). I enjoyed the wrap and purple cabbage. The chicken plate was just okay...the chicken was a little dry and the rest of the ingredients didn't feel the most cohesive. Tahini chocolate cookie was thin but massive in surface area. Great nutty flavor, enhanced by the dark chocolate. It was the perfect in between of slightly crispy exterior and soft, dense interior. Would come back just for this cookie.

And I like spice! But it was labeled 2/5 chilis and that was a vast understatement. I guzzled 5 glasses of water. I started to hear colors. The flavor was nice from what I could taste, but it was so spicy my sister couldn't finish her wrap and I suffered through mine. Even the owner said she would classify it a 4/5 chili dish, but it was her husband who decided it would be 2/5. It will burn a hole in your insides and humble you. - the vanilla cardamom panna cotta didn't have enough vanilla or cardamom flavor. The texture is also a bit...firmer and bouncier than others I've had. The caramel and nuts on top were a nice touch.

It keeps things moving and makes it easy to head out when you're done. Every time we've visited there's been a line, so that seems to be the norm. We stopped by around 1:45 p.m. this time and only had a short wait, which didn't bother us at all. My husband and I ordered the tres leches French toast and omelette, and both were excellent. The French toast had a beautifully golden exterior with thick challah bread. I usually prefer a more custardy center, but I didn't mind that it was a bit drier because the berries, compote, and glaze brought everything together and balanced the dish nicely. The omelette was a standout. The eggs were cooked beautifully and filled with well-seasoned peppers, onions, mushrooms, and creamy goat cheese. The house potatoes were crispy, flavorful, and seasoned just right without being overly salty. Some bites had a little more bite to them while others were soft and tender, which made them even more enjoyable. 10/10 would absolutely come back.

We ended up getting three things: * The cheese twist was soooo good! The cheese was flavorful and the pastry itself was perfectly done. * The apple pastry was interesting. Unlike many places where the pastry is either bland or overly sweet, Acme's pastry had a slight saltiness to it, which I actually think is genius. I almost always prefer a hint of savory flavor to balance out the sweetness from the filling or topping. My only issue with this one was that the apple topping was not sweet at all and leaned more tart, so paired with the salty pastry, it was not quite the flavor combination I was hoping for. * The mini raspberry pastry had the same issue for me. The raspberry topping was just a bit too tart and sour for my taste. Even though not everything was a hit for me, I would definitely come back and give this bakery another chance, especially since we arrived so late and missed out on many of their most popular items.
