My daughter and I walked in and were warmly greeted by the staff. The salon is clean and the chairs well-spaced with all the safety protocols in place. We were fortunate they could accommodate both of us at the same time for a pedi and a gel manicure. They let me drop in last minute. They seemed slightly uncomfortable that I was a dude, but they did take good care of my toes.

I love coming here and am rarely disappointed except once in blue moon. The technicians are friendly, the atmosphere is nice and calm and it is near to where I live. I had a wonderful pedicure last week but saw something that really bugged me, which is why I am not giving 5 stars. A technician right in my sight line was finishing up with a nail client (I think she was getting tips because of the mess on the floor). After the client left, the technician proceeded to walk around chatting with her coworkers, but not once did she stop to clean up her mess. It was all over the place. The next client came in and sat down and it didn't seem to bother her, but if it had been me, I would have left. It was really unsanitary and quite unsightly. I mentioned it to the women that was taking care of me and she said that sometimes they don't have time to clean up. I totally get that, but she was literally strolling around the salon for a good 10 minutes, and I was looking at it the whole time. Not very pleasant. She needs to up her game. JMO. I went in for my first manicure pedicure during the pandemic two weeks ago and just realized I never left a review. I've been going to Alameda Nails for years and have always had a good experience. The salon has been redone and looks beautiful! New floors, chairs, Manicure tables, they even added new services like haircuts! I'm so happy they're able to open again. There are a lot of nail places in Alameda. I have been to several across the island. This one has been the cleanest one I have ever been to. As a nurse, i look various aspects. Instruments out of sterilization bags, individual callous removers and buffers, and they even have clean basins for your feet to soak. Their customer service is great as well. I really appreciate the effort they go to for people. It's great. Linda is very artistic and can do great custom nail art. Ann, Tracy and Annie all do nice massages as well. The gals are all nice and almost all of them all speak English well enough to understand what your needs are for the appointment. They also have great hours as well and it is pretty easy to park, as it isn't on Park st. Have come back twice and have also recommended friend of mine to come here too. One of which especially needed a clean place to come. It has become my regular nail place now. read more

Went in on a Saturday afternoon to get a full set of gel french mani. Called in 10 Mins before I arrived and they sat me as soon as I walked in. Place seems nice, clean, and quiet. Not sure if the lady doing my nails was new or had never done a gel mani but my nails did not turn out good. They were all uneven and bump, and she left all that nasty gunk under the nails. Walked right in with no appointment. The ladies were very welcoming and helpful. I needed to get the remains of my gel manicure off and wanted just a regular manicure. I basically butchered my nails trying to get the gel polish off but Ann helped me BIG TIME!!! The manicure was only $10 and done SO well!!! Tons of colors to choose from. I've been to places that have charged less, and places that have charged more (yes, more believe it or not), but none of those compared to the services today at Alameda Nails. LINDA was my nail technician, and she did a FABULOUS JOB!!! I am all about details (OCD to the extreme) and she was so patient and took her time with every step. Went here to get a full set and I must say the service is good here. I made an appointment prior to coming and was seen early. The only thing I do not like is that they charge based on the shape and length of how you want your nails to look. Besides that this is a nice nail shop to come too. Ladies DO NOT STEP INTO THIS NAIL SHOP! They are cutting corners and not properly disinfecting their implements. They are supposed to leave them soaked for 10 min. However, Tracy only kept them in for 1 minute!!! Disgusting. Fungus and other infections can be spread save your feet and your hands. Be warned I did try to call and speak to management but was declined any opportunity. It's not fair that clients are deceived with their healthy nail salon banner. Please do not come here. Alameda Nails, you're such a quaint little shop with such talented Manicurists. You're clean, friendly, polite.. all the makings of a perfect nail salon. Unfortunately for them, I happen to understand Vietnamese. I understood Ann (the owner) when she said that my BIG BUTT prevented me from sitting still and that it barely fit in the chair. Naturally, I politely confronted her and she apologized. However, there are far too many nail salons to support one that has absolutely no respect for their customers. I was doing some errands in Alameda and decided to get a mani on a whim. Where to go? Yelp to the rescue! I called this place and they were able to take me in 15 minutes. I was pretty happy about that. They seemed fairly busy when I arrived. The salon looked clean. I was promptly greeted, and they opened a sterilized kit in front of me, which is a big plus. The nail tech took her time with my cuticles and I was given a short hand/arm massage and some lotion was applied to my hands/arms at the end. I followed Tracy here from Vicky's on Central. She's GREAT....I get a mani/pedi every 2 weeks and a brow wax once a month and Tracy is excellent at it all....while I'd follow her anywhere, it was a pleasant surprise to discover this new salon was bright, clean and airy with very comfortable, new, modern massage chairs...that massage your legs too! Vibe is the friendliest I've discovered on the island....no salon drama ....they all seem to be good friends and enjoy working together which makes sense, as Ann, Linda and Tracy started the place together. (My BFF only goes to Linda.) They've gotten busy enough to hire two new staff.....so happy to see they are doing well. Friendly, clean, bright, inexpensive and a quality job? What more do you need? I had such high hopes because everything looked so clean! I did a mani/padi! I get bad ingrowns because of injuries from when I played soccer, I asked several times if she could cut them out which she said yes to, she could not! So now I'm at home with a toe that hurts every time I step and is also swollen :(. Pretty sure that's going to be an infection. Don't go here! I saw they autoclave their instruments except I didn't see her take it out the bag when she did my toe nails. $52 which wasn't bad, but I was still expecting them to do a better job! So now I have to go to a podiatrist so they can take a look at my toe :( NEVER GOING BACK. read more

A below average mani/pedi in my opinion. I chose a color and I guess by the time she got to my manicure, the nail polish was running low. My nail technician May looked concerned about the amount and walked off with the polish. She bent over in the corner and put a substance into the polish bottle and shook it up. I've heard of places adding acetone to half used polish to make it last longer but I was very suspicious, especially the way she was trying to hide it from me. May was also very quiet, no small talk at all. When all was said and done, I took a look at my nails when I got outside and the color was very uneven and thin/see through in some places. I think the biggest complaint is lack of communication, if there wasn't enough nail polish to finish the job, just tell me, I can pick another color. Also, I tried to ask for a half moon manicure, but she kept asking me if I wanted french tips, I wanted to show her a picture but this place is a black hole because I couldn't get any reception. She was very reluctant to try to understand what I was asking for, so I settled and still didn't even get a solid polish job. read more

Cozy nail shop. Not too small that you feel like the walls are caving in. Not too big that you have to yell to share a giggle with your friend. Just Right..similar to the bowl of porridge that Goldilocks had in Three Little Bears. Nail technicians were experienced and clean. My pedicure was good, but what I was really impressed with was my mani. Because I don't like my fingernails painted, I usually get a clean, trim, and buff. Most technicians breeze through my hands and often leave them worse than before I came in. This visit changed all that. They trimmed my nails perfectly with no blood spilled. My cuticles are buffed back and not cut. Exactly what I asked for. Simple, Thorough, and Clean. Oh and the massage chair can prevent you from sitting still with the crazy knot massagers! I was shaking from side to side, left to right. I did the shimmy without even knowing how to. I left feeling sore similar to receiving a Deep Tissue Massage. Least to say, I will be back for my nails and those million dollar massage chairs!!!! read more

I am sad to say I won't be coming back after being cut by an electronic filing tool during my appointment . Linda has done a great job with my nails in the past , so I am really bummed to have had this experience . When I was cut and began to bleed she used a paper towel with acrylic dust/filing debris on it to apply pressure to the open wound then told me I need to keep my hand relaxed and not straight during the manicure . read more

They just opened up a few months ago so they do not have big crowds but they are great. I have gotten two pedicures and 1 brow wax. I have been very happy with my experience. My pedicures have lasted over 1 month and still look great. They also will put on little flowers or designs if you want. My friends have had gel nails also and are very happy with them. If you are coming with a few friends just give them a head up so they can get extra staff. As they are new they are working with limited staff until they become well known. read more
