So I found theis place on yelp :( I got a much needed pedicure and shellac manicure. The girl who did my pedi was great! Except she didnt really get into clipping all the extra skin the can build up on toes. (Didn't catch tge name) Melissa did my manicure she was nice and tried to conversate but i wasn't feeling the manicure. She didn't use the cuticle oil and or clip the extra skin off. I don't think I will be back for the manicure. But will try them again for pedicure read more

I will say they were really nice at first: the shape, color, and the thickness. But totally not worth it $55 (gel) even though I didn't ask for gel. The lady just gave me the gel color. This place is my go to in alameda. They are SO clean here. They have washable foot baths, newly wrapped tools, and they wear gloves. Not to mention the women here are so sweet! Good prices. 20 bucks for a basic pedicure and they do a great job. Attention to detail and of course a delightful massage. I got my first pedicure since March and this place was great. It was soooo clean. They take your temperature and use hand sanitizer when you arrive. They have the plexiglass to separate you from them while they are doing the pedicure. I would definitely recommend going to this nail salon during COVID. I felt very protected and safe. Ive been here a few times for a standard mani/pedi and didnt experience any issues. My manis were always super easy with a clear coat. Today, I asked for a gel french manicure. My nails are short (slightly longer than finger tip,) so when she started painting the white, I was shocked at how thick she painted on the white. It's normal to paint a bit thicker so you can use acetone to wipe away the extra bits, but when she went to do that, she left a white tip a third or more of my nailbed thick!!! It looked ridiculous and totally out of proportion so i asked her to make the tips thin. She told me they'd shrink in the light. (I've had enough done to know that's not the case,) so i told her that i don't think it'd shrink to the thinness that i preferred, but she blew me off and put them in the light. Came out of the light, and she asked if they were fine and i told her no.. they didn't look ok. I wanted the tip thinner. So instead of just removing the polish on that hand, she took a drill out and proceeded to attempt to "file" away at the extra white, leaving white bits and horrible drill marks in the nail. i asked if she was going to clean that up and she just told me that the top coat will hide most of it. I told her that if i can see all that when the top coat is applied, im going to want it done all over. At that point, she took out the cotton bin and slammed it on the table and removed the polish, huffing and puffing. End result are tips that are still too thick but not completely out of proportion and bubbles where the paint should be smooth. I wouldn't even have been bothered by it, had she just removed the polish to begin with and given me what i was asking for, but she didn't... she cut corners, gave me huge attitude AND they still looked not that great. I won't be back due to the lack of customer service... and I was charged full price. Don't say you'll do a service if you're going to half-arse it. Or if you don't want to do it. I gave her proper heads up about what i wanted when she could've easily fixed it right there. she made it 3x as hard on herself trying to cut corners... pissing me off in the process and losing a customer. read more

Just moved to the island and was going on a business trip to Las Vegas..needless to say I wanted my hands to look good for 5 days of work in the desert. I opted for this place because it was slightly off the beaten path (park) and had free empty street parking all around. I walked in without an appointment and asked if they could squeeze me in. No cash? No prob. Cards are accepted. I sat down immediately, discussed what I wanted and was sold pretty hard on getting the gel paint. I wasn't too sure I needed to do it but for $25 it seemed worth it. (Regular mani is $10). I went gel (and because I was a bit weary was given awesome 1st time discount). I walked out with really beautifully done nails (hardened and dried) that lasted and lasted. I could have gone back and gotten the polish removed there but was given tips on how to take it off at home and opted to do that. Worked great. Going to Arizona next week and will definitely be heading back for a mani :) read more

My first time being pampered here. I got a gel manicure, basic pedicure and my eyebrows done. They did a good job with my nails. However, my eyebrows were left uneven, which I really didn't like. I had to fix them myself because the lady that did my brows was trying to leave them thin, which I really don't like. The ladies were polite and the salon super clean, which is always good. I would have gave them five stars if it wasn't for my eyebrows. It's a nice place to go for your nails but I recommend getting waxing done elsewhere. The picture below is of my nails after two weeks. My second time I went, I made a mistake and got a terrible job at Lee Nails on Santa Clara. One week later, I'm back at Alameda Nail and Ann corrected the mess. I walked out proud and relaxed. I decided to give this place a try since my son's gf had been here & I liked her nails. So, I called to make an appointment, asked for either Linda or Ann. When I get there 5 minutes early, I let them know I have an appointment. They tell me to pick a color and have a seat. I picked a color, but asked if I could have my manicure done first, as I was being honest and letting them know that I don't have the patience to wait for my fingernails to dry . I was told that my hands and feet would be done at the same time, so I said OK. Then the nail tech comes over and starts, on my pedicure. I'm thinking maybe someone else will come over and start on my manicure, nope . Anyway, I don't know who is who, so I start by introducing myself and ask her name, it's not Linda or Ann, wth?! So, I ask who they are and she pointed them out, both were with customers. I let it go and gave her (Lynn) a chance. She did not cut my nails short like I asked because they were already "to the skin" , I've gotten them shorter ‍. For my manicure, she wanted me to stay in the pedicure chair while she did my manicure. I've only done that while both are being done be at the same time. So, I asked if I could move to her station. I did. She soaked one hand and started on it, didn't soak the other hand and started on it. She was cutting my nails very short, beyond the skin! I brought it up, told her she should've done that to my toenails like I asked. So then she stopped cutting and just filed. She didn't do much else. Then left me sitting there, without a word, when she finished. She didn't even put on the fan or light to dry my nails. I did it myself! After that I had to wait to pay. I waited at least 5 minutes by the door before they paid attention. I should've just walked out. read more

What a joke. My daughter and I went in for a mani-pedi 5:00pm on Saturday. It seemed to start out ok with the lemon water bath for the pedi but that's as far as anything "good" went. Needless to say it ended in a disaster! Rushing to get out by 7 they were switching people out faster than ever leaving me with one coat of polish on my toes and bubbles and polish running all over with no topcoat on my fingers. They totally smeared my daughters pedi and tried to repair it and botched it worse than it was. They rushed us out " you are done" at 6:00 no drying time whatsoever! The owner knew I was mad. I went back Monday morning when they opened and they rushed and repainted fingers leaving u fingers stained from the old polish! RUSHED me out AGAIN! Said they didn't have time at the moment but come back Tuesday afternoon to do it all over. HELLO? Grrr I walked up to the owner and showed her the second attempt -she barely looked up" you come back again " I asked her to STOP and take a good look at the mess. Then I said " I will never return" I'm not picky nor expect perfection but this was beyond sloppy waaaay beyond ! I have no idea how this place survives. Bad,bad, and again bad. I have come to the realization that when it comes to nail salons, I am a lot like a DMV driving test proctor (are they proctors? The people that tell you what to do when you're 16 and nervous?). Certain flubs are an automatic fail, regardless of how nice my nails look after the fact. The ladies were pretty nice, and there seemed to be some loyal customers in house, which was encouraging to see. What was not encouraging to see was the super old (and cheap - sinful? the stuff thats like $1.99 at Walgreens?) nail polish festering on the front case. Much of it looked like it hadn't been used in AGES which made me think they must not get much business. Well, once I finally left two hours later (two hours?!), I understood why. The "massage" I got with my pedicure was more a rough application of lotion than anything else. She seemed angry as she applied it. I saw the jars of blue disinfectant on the back counter, one for each lady, but I never saw either of them put their tools into it. This sent up huge red flags (I saw that thing on the news!), made a billion times worse by the fact that both women made me bleed on separate occasions. I don't go to the salon to bleed - ever. Bleeding means you did something wrong. I was shocked that they use the nail file drill thingy to remove cuticles - that seems insane. So, blood and unwashed tools - you decide if you want to risk it. Me, I'll look for somewhere else. read more

Went in for a mani pedi on my birthday with a friend. I made an appointment, but there was no need since the place was empty when we arrived. Greetings were exchanged, we selected our colors... and then we sat in our chairs. There wasn't much talking to us.... or a pleasantries so much, when I sat down to Tracy. My friend and I sat down at the same time, but for some reason my mani pedi took half of the time it took for my friend to be finished. Maybe that's just how it goes... but I waited for 20 minutes until she was done. Tracy cut one of my big toes when I was having my pedicure, and then made sure to go over it with the polish so it could sting. That's not the only thing that stung....since one of the things she said before shaping my nails was that they were ugly and that there was no way THEIR salon did that to my nails (yeah, did you remember me ever coming in before?). Yeah, I get it my filed nails were a little close on the edges.... but some of us work with our hands and our nails break! I'm so sorry to bring my nails to a Nail Tech to fix. I'm not complicated or bitchy. I just smiled (and I apologized) and let her do her best.... since I'm not one to argue. I figured coming to Alameda Nails on my birthday would have my nails looking good for my fancy night out (since I wanted them to match my dress). Instead I got a hurry up job that had uneven edges and a sloppy job on the top coat. Here it is a day later and they are already chipping!! Did I mention I also had a smudge of polish on the top of my foot (NOT my doing....) I noticed it before we left, but figured I was being treated in a rushed manner for some unknown reason..... especially since she made me pay BEFORE putting polish on my nails..... but yet none of the other clients I saw having their fills and even my FRIEND who was having the SAME manicure wasn't made to pay before. Think I was going to get my nails done and ditch?? Really classy, Alameda Nails. I really appreciate the "excellent" treatment I received from the "best" nail salon in Alameda. Seriously, I was misled by the reviews here. I made the appointment and even chose the place... thinking it would actually be special. I've had my nails done before.... I know what to expect. I thought a nice pampering would be in order.... but instead I had insults on my special day. I was looking to see if this was a place I would actually get gels or sets in the future, but no thanks. I can do without the rudeness, especially since I tipped you 18% BEFORE you even did the crappy job on my nails. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I really wanted to like you Alameda Nails.... and I wanted to like you too, Tracy.... but I found you to be judgmental and rude without subtleties. I just can't ignore it since I find your reviews to be misleading. Clean, yes? But I will find a salon that is both Clean AND Nice next time.... even if it is just to my face. This place is great the new management really takes good care of their customers. I came here a few years ago with the old owner and it wasn't so good. Tracy is my all time favorite manicurist! I used to see her and Linda at a different salon and followed them when they moved to Alameda Nails. I adore the new salon! Very clean and warm inside! The massage chairs are way better than most and they have the most talented crew around! I love all the little touches that they add to your experience like fresh lemon slices in the water that they use to scrub your feet with, and their extreme attention to detail and cleanliness.
