My friends and I had dinner nearby and my husband found this place on Yelp. When we stopped by it was still early in the evening so there were only 2 customers when we stopped by. We ordered a few drinks at the bar and a basket of fries. We asked to sit at the reserved table and since no one was there, the bartender let us. We had a great time drinking and catching up. Fries was good and I really liked the drink my husband ordered, bubble rainbow bunnies. Eventually more customers came in and the bar was popping. Definitely check it out!

A great little bar where everybody knows your name. One of the gems of Los Angeles, this is one of those friendly bars where everyone is super chill and there's no pretension. The food is amazing tbh. Surprisingly good. The fried are crispy and crunchy with a hint of rosemary. The karaoke is fun and laid back. The people are warm. The bathrooms could use a little updating but work...sometimes. Parking can be an issue. Wish they had something worked out with a parking lot where you can park for a couple bucks. Overall this place is a great place for a birthday or when you just want to get out of the house and sing a few tunes.

Staff is great, this bar is always welcoming and the karaoke vibes are killer. If you're in the area, treat yourself to something lovely and enjoy!

This place was great. The bartender Andrew was very friendly and didn't mind chatting at all. He told us the sign outside says the place used to be a movie theater a long time ago. Inside is something out of a Robert Louis Stevenson novel. It almost feels like you stepped into an episode of dark shadows. Very cool. The cheese fries were good too. If I had a critique it would be that there's only one choice for red and white wine but honestly it didn't take anything away from the vibe.

Pictures speak for themselves lol. it's unfortunate and I understand that things happened but I feel the situation could've been handled better this past sunday night. (memorial day weekend) Drinks were ok but the male bartender has terrible customer service and I HATE writing this review but R bar lacks professionalism in all its employees.

The perfect bar to wind-down. Nestled in the heart of K-town, R bar is definitely a go to. Though Uber is highly recommended, unless you live in the area, you may try your luck searching for parking. Monday's is HH all day! Was tended by a friendly bartender, and Monday night crowd was chill. This is a perfect place for a first date, date night or just a night out with friends. Outside looking in the establishment looks deceitfully small, but once inside there is plenty of seating.

Ambiance- looks like R bar has been a long-time neighborhood establishment. Though looks can be deceiving, the feel is authentic. R bar IS my neighborhood spot now that I've moved a few blocks away. I come here once or twice a month for food, drinks and ambience. My family likes it. My colleagues like it. My friends dig it. It has an old 1800s pirate feel. Karaoke- brass monkey used to be THE place to go for karaoke! I still love that place! But now my family and friends prefer R bar karaoke because it isn't nearly as crowded! You actually get your chance to sing! The k host never demands a tip to have your turn at rocking out to your favorite tune! The patrons are friendly and supportive. Not everyone is there to sing. Folks are chilling, eating, socializing. And applauding or singing along with you. Food- my coworkers appreciate the mix of vegetarian options along with everything else on the menu. It's a bar. The menu isn't big. But it's impressive for a bar. The food is much better than other bars. Veggie and chicken quesadillas. Pulled pork sandwich. Chicken bacon club. Rosemary fries. Juicy onion rings. And I've come back twice for the tasty chicken bacon salad! Yeah. A delicious, filling salad. At a bar. Nearly epic! Drinks- excellent margaritas, mules, and old fashions. $9 beers on draught. $8 Pacifico can. But better deals at happy hour, which is 5-7pm! The weekly specials are great! And the bartenders truly craft their own cocktail specials!

Love that it is a woman owned bar (so I've heard). Their drinks are pretty strong. I've only been here a few times but it is always full of people here, good ambiance.

I was instantly so glad we chose this spot to celebrate our anniversary because it was the perfect setting for a romantic date night. Now, let's talk about the food! Everything we ordered was delicious, with the exception of the Korean aguachiles, which we probably could've skipped. We also tried the bluefin bibimbap, oysters, and the oh-so-tender short rib that practically melted in our mouths. But the most unforgettable dish was also the simplest: the Korean fried chicken. It wasn't necessarily something out of the ordinary, but it sure tasted like it. The perfect crisp, flavor, and seasoning had us eating every last piece right down to the bone. Our server also made the experience even better. She gave us some of the best recommendations and were incredibly attentive and friendly throughout the entire meal. My friend and I ordered the soy marinated prawns, beef tartare stone pot rice, creamy chicken soup, Wagyu beef soft tofu soup. The prawns were nicely marinated in a slightly sweet slightly salty soy sauce, and came paired with some barley and seaweed to make mini wraps. Delicious and a nice way to start the meal. The creamy chicken soup was indeed very creamy and smooth but the bowl is really small and would've been better with a higher soup to noodle ratio since the noodles soaked up the yummy soup. The tofu soup was surprisingly bland even though it was very red. It could've used more umami flavor or spice - something to jazz it up since the tofu, egg, and beef itself were not seasoned. My favorite dish of the night was the steak tartare stone pot rice. It came with a lot of veggies that helped balance out the sauce and I'm a sucker for crispy rice. However, the rice itself wasn't seasoned thoroughly as some spots had absolutely delicious sauce while other spots were bland. And the sauce wasn't a part of the tartare on top so it wasn't a mixing issue. The staff are kind and attentive, even with us being tucked away in the back corner and hidden by a curtain panel.

All in all, I'm not in a hurry to come back... But they do make a very tasty burger, and the fries were super crispy!
