Not sure how I've never shared experiences at the Regent. I've probably been here a dozen or so times including one of my favorite shows with Shannon and the Clams plus Tropa Magica. Not to mention Hunx and His Punx and various artists. The Rock N Roll Flea Market is a must, a free entry event #SundayFunday. You can enjoy bottomless mimosas, eats at Prufrock Pizzeria and all the vintage fun. Regent Theater was built in 1914 and restored, reopening in 2014 with it's new additions The Love Song Bar and Prufrock. It can hold up to 1100+ people, with incredible acoustics, back bar inside the main theater, restrooms, loads of space, stellar lighting and sound. Doors open usually an hour or so before your show or event. Seeing Sophie Ellis-Bextor and so excited for it and her. Free Wi-Fi. Full bar. Full on amazing. Balcony area, not to mention VIP area for seating. We have Will Call tickets, which I can't remember the last time that happened, but excited to support this music and event venue gem that's been part of Los Angeles history, experiences and culture for over 100+ years. Parking is street, local garage with some suggestions for lots across the street. It's very walkable from other areas if for instance you're near Grand Central Market and other hubs. Check their site, posts and media for the latest updates and calendar for what's to come. Rock out at The Regent!!

The Regent Theatre has always been a cool spot for performances. Came here this past Friday for Kcamp concert and it was good! I had a good time and the venue is not bad and they have balcony and VIP area for seating. I recommend getting seating because your feet does start hurting. They have drinks and snacks that's about it. You can put your name down on the waiting list to see if no one comes for reservations to sit down, but it's $30. They are pretty good with service and accommodating. Will come back. They have parking right across the street for $25.

Recently went to see Public Service Broadcasting at the Regent. It was voted a top US venue by Billboard magazine in 2024. It's a small intimate theater with a slope in GA which is nice for us short people in the. Back. They also have a second floor with chairs and tables you can eat and drink while watching the show. The sound was a bit loud on the treble side but they sold earplugs which greatly helped. Overall great venue!

Came here with a cousin this past week for the , Oct 29th for the Lucha Vavoom show and when I tell you that it was all that in a bag of chips, you can take it both literally or figuratively because both would apply! You have to step back from it and give the promoters and producers some serious credit here. This is about the best example of organized and or packaged chaos that one can imagine! Whether you were here for the wrestling, the men, or the women, you were going to walk out of here with something! In any case, I'll let a few of the videos and pictures do the talking here. A great time was had.

Great venue with quick entry. Bar in the entry as well as inside the theater. We weren't sardined in but it was a Monday. we could snake our way up. You are standing on a slant because it was an old theater, it is a bit taxing on the feet. Sound was great. we visited the bar at the entrance as well as the pizza place for a delicious slice. We parked on the corner lot for $20. May have been able to park in the street but there are a lot of homeless around.

Great intimate venue to see your favorite artist! Loved how there was food and a bar and you could also opt to sit in the balcony area to enjoy the concert. Not a bad seat in the house (mainly bc it's mostly all standing room) but my statement still stands! Staff and security was friendly as well.

    Dogstar tonight

We got last minute tix to see a sold out show with Dogstar. The closest parking lot for $25 cash only was full, and we were directed to another one a few blocks over. It was only $10. There was a QR code on the signs by the parking spaces that you can pay online. However, it was a 2 block walk. Just be sure to follow the crowd before and after the event. We received a wrist band for over 21 and under 21. Once we walked in, there's another bar entrance to the left which I believe may serve food? But it was used to sell merch during and after the show. The restrooms were located right before the door inside. When we walked in, I was surprised at how roomy this theatre felt. It was was standing room only with no seats except for the balcony and sides. Didnt feel crowded and the room temp was comfortable. The acoustics were nice too. No frills like other historic theatres with art deco. There was also another large bar off the side. I dont know if I didnt notice this with older theatre spaces or WeHo clubs but i appreciated how the floor sloped slightly downward closer to the front of the stage which made viewing optimal even with taller folks ahead of us. So really not a bad viewing spot in the mosh pit. We could see the band members pretty close too! I would definitely come back to this theatre for another show.

Can't ever really complain about this venue. Decent drinks and i love that there's food right there. I went for my first Lucha Va Voom show which was sooo fun! Production and the staff was all in a good mood which made everything even better.

Inside is a cool venue, great sound and multiple levels (sunken down-sloping floor area, raised bar area with great line of sight, and an upstairs mezzanine). But, the outside is a an absolute war zone because of The Regent's close proximity to skid row and because of that, the parking options are super expensive or super sketchy, or both. Uber in if you can or pay the extra money for the lot across the street. Oh, and you will get worked over by a homeless person while waiting in line to get in. The security doesn't care. There's probably something they can do about it, like placing just one extra security guard outside at the middle or end of the line and just shoo them away and tell them not to bother their patrons, but they choose not to. Either way, they are definitely all up in your face asking for a dollar or a cigarette. On the walk over from our $15 unattended, sketchy parking lot 2 blocks away (not worth saving the extra $10 btw) we had a guy throwing items across the sidewalk in front of us out of his bag while yelling. One of those items he threw was a pair of large scissors. By the time we got to the venue, we were thoroughly uneasy and scared. We dreaded leaving the venue after the show, you know, at midnight now. I will definitely try to avoid shows at this place in the future.

    Wild Nothing

I went and saw the Wild Nothing show there with my mom and sister. We opted to upgrade and sit in the VIP section. So glad we did. Jade took care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. She help make the night extra special for us! Thank you, Jade

The live bands. Look at that production value!

I would have probably never discovered this venue weren't it for a friend, but I love what they do with the spaces; it reminds me of my Tigerheat days back at the Avalon. Sigh to the early 2010s. Good bands, ample space to dance around and take poor-lit selfies while drunk, and fruity, potent cocktails at the bar next door. Kudos for the production value onstage; really sets it apart from the small venues in Echo Park and Silver Lake that typically cater for indie bands. The outside patio proved just as fun and gives way to meeting some interesting folks/music aficionados. The grungy hipster inside me gives The Regent a 10/10.

Came here for Ruby Ibarra and Pinay Voltron's NPR Tiny Desk concert. Bartenders worked efficiently and the slanted floor made it a more enjoyable experience, making it slightly easier to see the stage from different parts of the room. Ambiance was chill. The main drawback, as is the case with many establishments here in LA, is the parking situation. Give yourself some extra time to find parking before your event.

Can I bring in a water bottle? I have anemia so I get faint fast & need water readily available

The regent is so cool so I would assume yes but I am sure they would give water and the have water stations. They are ADA friendly which is great for all us old punks!!!

Will there be a coat check for the scam and jam event?

    Yes!

I was told Lobby doors open at 9:30. Does that mean you can't buy drinks until then? If so, any spots in walking distance to catch a drink before hand?😬

No, you can buy drinks at their other bar inside.

Does this place have seating? Or do you have to eat standing up?😣

Depends on the type of event being held that particular night. For live music, there is a small section of bleachers upstairs but downstairs will be standing only, though there are some steps on each side of the ground level as you walk into the pit…

    Does the regent serve food?

Yes, selection of pizzas, fries, wings, burgers, corn dogs, pretzels

If doors open at 8 what time to get there to get front row or near stage?

    7 would be great

Do you require vaccination cards or do you have to be vaccinated to visit?

    Not anymore

Does the bar serve sparkling wine or champagne?

    Yes they do

    Box office hours?

    Show hours

    Can 15 year olds attend?

Depends on the age restrictions on the show in question.

I lost my ID last night but i have pictures on my phone of it and my favorite rapper is going to be there tonight, will they allow me in if i show the picture?

If it's all ages yes, if not no.

Is this where they host the Rock & Roll Flea Market?

    Yes! First Sunday every month.

Does this place do a bag check or have a camera policy? I'm searching for different places to practice photography on musicians. There is a black metal band I may go see, but I have never been here before.

If you get there early enough sometimes they don't even check for tickets. I've seen photographers at gigs there, but I'm not sure if they get advanced permission. These photographers were in the pit area behind the barriers.

Inside, it's cute and definitely looks like an old dance hall from the 1900's. I'd say this was a medium sized venue. The stage wasn't terribly high off the ground. There's a big, beautiful, bar and a disco ball and it has a lot of charm since it's an older venue. Seeing a show here feels less stressful than seeing one in downtown or Hollywood. But once you find it, it's large, gated, and has a couple attendants watching the cars. You go upstairs and it opens up into a decent sized space. Large enough to hold people and dance, and small enough that you can see the band from every point in the bar. It has a long bar when you enter and looks like they'll take care of you for the night. At the far end of the venue is a little space. I'm not sure if they use that as their green room cuz it wasn't inviting you to come in. Overall, I think it's a decent venue. Not sure if the sound was an issue w the bands' equipment or The Paramount. I'd go back if a fave band of mine is playing.

Walking into the venue (which must be entered from a remote back alley) people just outside said to us "you're walking into a WEIRD vibe". We thought that meant "punk", and we weren't completely wrong- but we were promptly informed the lead singer of the first band had dislocated her knee and torn her ACL on the stage- it is not known whether the stage caused this but most said the singer was not doing anything crazy in terms of movement. The ambulance was called, and the people in charge were managing the situation to the absolute best of their ability but that poor lead singer was on stage incapacitated with people all around her giving her conflicting advice. This poor thing. They moved all the bands down to the floor level after the first band in order to mitigate the situation. There were some massive sound quality issues, the lights stayed on for the entirety our out-of-town friends set, which they still played like champions- the closing band even had the guys in charge of wandering on the stages behind them and even onto the stage with them, mid-set- (to fix issues I'm sure). I just felt so bad for everyone involved: the injured band, the fans who paid and had to wait a long time through delays, the bands that played after the incident (the band we saw had the lights on the entire set too), and the crew running the show who were clearly just doing their best given the circumstances. I will say it was a calm intimate venue when it all went down- everyone was trying to help, just a crazy first impression of The Smell for us.

It was all a foreign concept to me. Booking three or four or five acts in one night, charging you admission only once based on which act you came in for and most of the time if you came to the first you could stay through the 5th, or as most did, they came to see who they intended to see and maybe saw some of the act that was after and then went out to Hollywood to get some eats with their friends. Hotel Cafe is going away in 2026, but it is not gone, they will just be moving from their iconic Hollywood location, that small room that barely held 150, a small stage in the corner, a few low tables and a bar in the back to a new location in Los Angeles. It is the place where the singer-songwriter movement of the mid-2000s to the mid-2010s hard launched a revival. It's like what the Troubadour was to the Laurel Canyon singers in the 1970s. Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, Greg Laswell, Priscilla Ahn, Meiko, Cary Brothers and many others. Adele even played here before her first album released in the US. I saw Sara Bareilles here once and she left everyone in tears after her song and bolted out the back door. I went to the front of the house and her family were blowing out the last of the signed copies her tour posters for only $10 since it was the last show of her tour. I bought a few. I have come here to see a friend like Big Phony sing, and then exit into the back room/lobby and see Hollywood stars entering to see their friend who would be singing next. It's that kind of local spot. The sound was always great and the drinks were well crafted and strong. I recently saw Priscilla Ahn sing here again and it brought back memories of the first time I saw her here, when she only had a 5 track EP CD. When she sang Dream again this year, it felt like everything had come full circle, since that first CD released 20 years ago. I cannot wait to see what the new building looks like, but a huge part of me, like for everyone else that has been here, will miss that little room in the back of the alley, where young dreamers became singers, where singers became stars.
