If you enjoy a movie uninterrupted by your fellow patrons, this place is it. Ticket prices are roughly $.50 more than AMC and Regal and you don't have to fight for the perfect seat - go online (or use the app), choose your preferred movie and time, pick the seats and then relax knowing you won't have to stand in a long line on opening night in hopes you're not stuck in the front row. The environment and ambiance is great with a little bit for every movie goer in mind - classics, modern, you name it. There are a few downsides to Alamo, however. On several occasions, I haven't gotten my drink order for over 20 minutes, have gotten flat sodas or even the wrong food. Yet, when I do express frustration or talk about the issue with my server, I typically end up with a discount. Speaking of servers, it can be difficult to keep track of who is helping you because so many people are going in and out of the theater. One person will take your order, another will check on how it's going, a third will bring your food and a fourth with bring drinks - I've had times where they brought multiple drinks to my table and extra popcorn. Yeah, that's cool but space is limited where you can set your food and drinks. The food itself is fine - I've had pizza, candy, popcorn, beer. Yes, prices are a tad higher but I find them reasonable for a theater that serves a full menu plus snacks and adult beverages. My suggestion is to avoid sitting in the row where the main walkway is - servers are constantly coming and going and despite their efforts to duck out of the way and be as discreet as possible, you're still aware of their presence. Buy tickets as early as possible to get the seat you want and make sure you're at the movie roughly 5-10mins before it's scheduled start time. They will not allow you in once the actual feature has begun. The best thing about Alamo in my opinion? No talking during movies, no cell phones, and no children under certain ages at certain showings. I only go to Alamo now and I'm grateful for the company coming to Springfield. read more

I stopped going to any other movie theater when Alamo opened. Service is usually awesome. Bottomless popcorn is the best ever. Adult milkshakes are a huge plus also. Everything's always clean and the recliners are comfy. read more

Really well maintained movie theatre. The screen and the seats were good. Each seat is a recliner and has a small table attached to it. You also have a cup of water placed there at the beginning of the movie and then can order whatever you want throughout. One thing I really like is that you also get to choose your seat prior to getting to the cinema so you don't have to get there early. One thing that annoyed me is that there is a sever that keeps walking up and down the town to see what people wanted to order. He runs fast and doesn't stand in front of the screen but it is just distracting when someone is walking next to your feet every 20 mins or so. Also, I got there 10 mins after the movie started because I didn't wanna see the commercials and I was just running late, the cinema attendant told me not to be late next time?! My boyfriend and I just went to watch Free Guy, super great movie, but the quality of the Alamo has really went down. My boyfriend and I paid $55 for our tickets, one sweet tea, fries, and a salad. My boyfriend's tea was $5.50 and we were never asked if we wanted a refill. I saw the waiter only to take our order and drop off the food. We were charged 18% gratuity for that. My side salad was wilted, had one slice of tomato on it, onions that I said I didn't want, and a mushroom slice. This was $12. I would call a Wendy's salad gourmet compared to this. I get that the pandemic is impacting businesses, but guess who hasn't gotten a raise to keep up with the increase of prices? Working class people who just want to sit and enjoy a movie without it costing 1/5 of their weekly income. I won't be going back. read more

OK the food is good but the system of ordering food at your seat then someone coming in the theater to bring it to you can be distracting to those around you trying to watch a movie. We went there for one first visit. Food is so expensive there. They have no to go cups. I wanted to take my drink with me and she informed me they had no to go cups. We ordered a chicken sandwich with goat cheese and a small amount of fries. It was delicious, but it was $13.50 plus the drink was around $5.50. Plus the price of the movie. read more

I've been to this establishment 3 times, have to say that I am not enthusiastic about the idea of returning. The first experience was short lived. I purchased tickets, went to the viewing room, and was asked to leave because the movie had begun. The film was within 5 seconds of having started, the opening credits were scrolling across the screen. In the time of the lecture I received about "disturbing previously seated patrons", I could have sat down. The second time was an invite I'd received to the bar area from a friend. That experience was nice, there was a band playing and the drink service was good. The third visit was to watch a movie. The earlier reviewers comment about it being cold in the theater in November and December were the same I experienced. I have to assume they do not turn the heat on, even during sub-zero temperatures as we had on the 2nd of January. The seating was great except the tables interfere with the ability to fully recline them. Prior to the start of the film, a list of rules scrolled across the screen, among them was one that said you couldn't leave during the run of the film. If you did, you'd be given one warning and then ejected from the theater without a refund. I had a friend with me from Europe who was afraid to use the restroom because of that warning. During the film, the attendants were constantly creeping around the theater to pick up and deliver food and drink orders. The level of activity in this regard was much more disturbing than the comings and goings of patrons in a regular theater, and became a source of comic relief from the cold for my friend and I. At the end of the film, my friend and I began to exit the theater, but were stopped by the attendant with questions as to whether we liked the film and another mild lecture about patrons "normally staying in their seats until the end credits had completed". That didn't help my friend's need to use the restroom. Hoping to end the experience on a high note, I chose to stop at the bar for a drink. My friend's drink (a whisky sour) arrived half full. When she asked that the glass be filled completely, she was told by the bartender "That is the way I make them, you can have more of the sour mix, but no more alcohol". When i received the bill, I found that I'd been charged 50 cent for the addition to the drink. It is safe to say that I will not voluntarily return to the Alamo Drafthouse. I am not stranger to the concept of arthouse theaters, having grown up in University City, Missouri and being a regular patron of the Tivoli (within the last month, in fact). The Alamo Drafthouse is no Tivoli. read more

I was really disappointed with this theater. My boyfriend and I had chairs that did not recline back, so we went to the front and was told they did not have time to fix the chairs but that they would compensate us with free popcorn. We never received the popcorn, weren't able to move seats, and left with cramped necks. When we left there was no one up front to talk to. I wanted a refund. The movie was great and the place was clean but i was still eating my cookie when they took it away I had a whole other cookie on that plate and they took it. Also I wrote down queso and they gave me a little thing of queso Instead of the big bowl and chips. Bought our movie tickets to a Disney movie, on our phone for our whole family. Showed up and were informed our two year old twins couldn't go in to the movie. The clerk/ticketer talked down to us telling us when you buy the tickets it says no one under six. Guess we didn't magnify the screen and read the fine print? I was unaware a movie theater doesn't allow families. Plus we'd paid over 70 dollars which we were refunded, however we had bought the tickets under the advertised price of 50 dollars. So they had hidden fees as well as a hidden no families clause. Apparently at The Alamo you need to take an hour to read every hidden detail in their ticket policy, and expect to pay more than you agree to. We won't be going there ever. read more

Walk with me on my journey please...1st we frequented Regal...next we discovered Starplex which turned into AMC. After a series of disasterous visits to both of the above mentioned locations, Alamo moved in...taking over the Wehrenberg Theatre. Now...Alamo us the only place we will go for movies in Springfield. Very interesting concept. Kind of a dinner and a movie type feel to the place. Some tasty creations food wise, and a few they may want to tweak their recipe a bit. Ticket prices seem fair, and the place seems clean. This was our second trip here, and we enjoyed it. I'm sure we'll be back again sometime. If I had to make a criticism, I would suggest they improve the chairs. The person next to me kept rubbing elbows with me from time to time, and when you're getting up, if you're not careful, you will press the recline button, and I dang near fell on my face because of it, lol. The chairs are comfy but I had heard rave reviews on how good the popcorn was, so I went there excited for the popcorn and there was nothing on it! The premise is a good one but the ordering and ensuring your guest have gotten what they have ordered process could be improved. Tonight my wife and I went and watched a movie. We had placed our orders for beverages and meals well before the previews had even started. My wife and I recieved our ordered drinks in a rather speedy manner. As we sit there watching the movie we also can see the entire theater has recieved thier food orders and we have not. By this point we our half way through our feature. My wife goes and speaks with the manager. After notifying the manager our food comes out in one hell of a hurry. I only give two stars for the fact that this has been my second visit and both have been problematic. They need a process improvement. The manager was waiting at the theater entry to speak with my wife after the show. He did apoligize greatly as well as our server. Much of the bill was taken care of by the manager and we also recieved a couple 10 dollar comp cards. So I feel he made his best effort to resolve the issue and make it right. I may go again at some point but it will be a long long while before I try again. read more

My husband and I have been here a ton. We have never once had a bad experience. It is pretty pricey, but what isn't these days?! The food is always amazing. They have my favorite pizza, Thai Chicken! Not worth it. Bought tickets to a child's movie for my 4 year old and arrived 10 minutes late due to unforeseen traffic delays. Upon arriving they refused to let us in even though the theater was basically empty. I understand they have a late policy but am appalled at their unwillingness to allow us to slip in to watch the movie. Furthermore they cannot refund or exchange tickets purchased on Fandango which we only purchased from because it is actually cheaper than to go through the Alamo's own website. We will no longer recommend this theater and will no longer be patrons. I would suggest you buy tickets elsewhere. read more

It's really hit or miss. Some days the servers will be great and others they are so bad you wish you ate before you came. We have been double charged before. One time they didn't bring us our food at all. One time they brought us the same app twice and charged for both of them. One time they brought the wrong food and then took it away and still charged us for it. Eat before you come. Only get drinks or candy so they don't mess it up. read more

LOVE this place! I can't believe we have one in Springfield! The movie parties are so much fun! I have been to several and they make a great night out with friends. The Backlot is also a great place to meet up for a drink. I was very impressed with their beer selection. I also had the buffalo cauliflower last time I was there and it was delicious! Nice place but if your looking to keep warm don't sit by the ticket lobby door, VERY drafty. I was told they keep the door open so people know their open. I would think it'd be Easier to put a were open sign. Keeping the door close would benefit 2 things customers could be warmer and the Alamo would save on heating bill due to not having the cold inrush of air over working the heater system . Have not enjoyed my handful of visits to Alamo over the past couple of years. Overpriced food, the use of a server in each theater is distracting to me, and the lighted table frustrates my viewing. Tonight was the worst, though. 30 minutes to get a couple of shakes while tables all around us received their food orders, even though they had ordered after us. Sharp, clean theater. I have been coming here since it has opened an I loved coming here with family and friends. Today I Purchased 2 tickets to a 1pm movie. I was kicked out for having an infant (1 month old). It was not discrete it was rather abruptly and loud. He had not made a sound. But, due to the age policy restrictions of no infants on a show that did not have anything posted when buying the tickets on the page or at buying the tickets stating it was restricted. But mind you, they will allow a 3 year old into the same showing. So we were kicked out and humiliated in front of all of the people in there. When I asked to speak to a manager, they said " it was a distributbance and it might make noise." How is a none crying infant that isn't making a sound worse than a 3 year old. I am confused. What next? I will be kicked out for my personality or laugh, or worse my ethnicity because I might be a distributbance? I am extremely disappointed. Cleanest, friendliest, and coolest place to see a movie. The concession line has been completely erased as a problem so you don't miss any movie over a refill. You don't get tiny little ice waters they respect a need for a water and the prices are reasonable! The chairs are leather recliners and you get a table for your food. What ever happened to customer service? I got my tickets through Fandango the night before. The waiter checked our tickets to make sure they were right. My grandson and I got up and someone took our seats. As it turns out each seat number can refer to two different seats if you want to believe that. All we got was , "contact fandango'. No offer of being comped as the waiter offered. The manager didn't say if it was because he lacked competence or it was system issue. We ended up right under the screen with migraine inducing lights and sounds. Last time going there. I give it one star because I can't go any lower. read more

Alamo is all about the experience so if you are going here for a bargain cinamatic experience you will miss the point. They have great food and an excellent beer selection. The staff are always hard at it working their butts off. You will want to reserve seats online prior to going. They even have events here for classic movies with signature items associated with that movie. I haven't tried everything but the items below are great. The pretzel is nice and soft. The dipping sauce is what made it special. A fancy spic mustard. The cashew chicken skewers we're very good a well. I haven't tried one bad item so everything seems pretty solid.
