Came in late on a Sunday when we stopped in Springfield for the night, during a long road trip…read more Cozy little place with great vibes and excellent service. The bartender was so friendly and attentive! It's pretty simple, straightforward bar food, but it was hot and exactly what we needed when little else was open. Cold beer, not too noisy, perfect laid-back dive bar. If we lived in town, I'm sure we'd be back! Highly recommended.

It sits off the main drag, the kind of bar you notice only after you've driven past it a dozen times. But step inside, and you'll realize it's one of those rare places that still knows what a bar is supposed to be. The lights are low, the air is easy, and the bar top -- polished smooth from years of elbows and stories -- gleams under the amber bulbs. The bartender greets you like an old friend, even if you've never been here before. He keeps a clean bar, tight and organized, every glass shining like it's got a reputation to uphold. People don't come to KJ Brewskies for the food. Sure, there's something hot and fried if you need it, but this isn't a place for plating or pretense. You come here for the people, the atmosphere, the simple comfort of a cold beer that doesn't cost you half a paycheck. The jukebox doesn't take quarters anymore -- progress, I suppose -- but the music's still good. Old country. Classic rock. Songs that sound better when they're a little too loud. Over in the corner, someone's lining up a pool shot. Darts whistle through the air. Shuffleboard pucks slide and kiss the end of the table with a satisfying clack. What makes this place special, though, is how it shifts with the seasons. When the weather turns warm, they throw open the doors and roll out the crawfish pots. It's all elbows, laughter, and the unmistakable smell of spice and beer in the air. Fall might bring a chili cook-off, winter maybe a small charity drive -- each one another excuse for the regulars and newcomers alike to gather, eat, drink, and remember what community feels like. KJ Brewskies isn't trying to be anything more than what it is. It's a good bar -- honest, lived-in, alive. A place to forget the headlines, to talk about nothing important, to exist for a few hours without explanation. Places like this are getting harder to find. And maybe that's why, when you walk out into the night -- the jukebox still humming behind you -- you already know you'll be back.

I walked in at 7:45 pm on June 28th. Every table in the place was dirty including the counter…read morespots. I put my order in, not anything complicated. Texas sausage egg and cheese melt with hash browns, jalapeños and cheese on the hash, and a plain waffle. After that the waitress that took my order went out front, and the cook served up the food for me. He mentioned something about syrup and butter but turned back around. Never got either one. Ten minutes go by, my waitress comes in. She finally starts wiping down tables and bringing dishes to her sink. She's talking with the other waitress about reality tv but doesn't check on me. She keeps walking around in front of me, and eventually turns with her back facing me right in front of me talking to the cook. My waffle was cold, didn't get my order right, and the waitress couldn't have possibly cared less. I cashed out and left, and the waitress asked me what f I wanted to take off the waffle, to which I replied "yes, I never got any syrup for it." Left a zero dollar tip, and walked out. I'm in the food service industry, and understand that it gets really tough. Nothing is ever perfect, and everyone is generally just trying to do their best. But I was the waitresses only tab. The other waitress had three. The cook knew I needed syrup, even though it wasn't his job, and the other waitress had three tables. Poor service isn't acceptable especially when you're dead. My order was 17.00, cashed out around 8:15 pm. Feel free to check your cameras if you need to.

Staff is so friendly!!! Food was quick and fresh as well. Waffle was fluffy. Thank you!!!!read more
