I've rented from these folks a few times at the Buffalo airport. In comparison to the other rental places here, these guys stand out. Picking up the vehicle this weekend was very pleasant and they even allowed me to choose from several available vehicles. For a Premium Crossover, they originally offered a Chevy Traverse or VW Atlas. I wasn't that thrilled with either of those, and after some more discussion, they offered me a new 2026 Nissan Pathfinder with only 500 miles on it. I was then quickly on my way down one garage level with the keys. The vehicle was very clean and ran well. I did notice the fuel level needle was just under the Full line, but just let it go. Upon dropping off the vehicle a couple days later back at the airport, because I was dropping it off 35 minutes late, the agent said a tttal charge of 30 extra dollars than what I was originally quoted. However, the Alamo agent at the pickup desk a couple days earlier said I would have one hour more to drop it off. The Dropoff agent named Zee was super friendly and explained it was the "system" automatically charging for the late delivery and easily reversed the charge. He also asked if they could do anything better and I mentioned how the gas tank wasn't 100% full upon pickup, and he offered a $20 credit. All in all, despite a couple minor issues, these guys quickly addressed them and presented good solutions. I will definitely be back to rent from them again. read more

While returning the key fell down and split into two as I was hurrying catching the flight, but all parts are in place. The person who took the car didn't say anything about the charges. Had a rental for a day and booked a compact SUV. The agent Eli recommended a Cross. He was very personable and friendly. Great recommendation because not only did I feel like I was in a car but it took my charger-I didn't need a special one. It was pretty good on gas too. On the return, it was quick and friendly. I always a big fan of Alamo and this one was no exception. I got my rental car through the Costco Travel and it was a pretty good deal ($100 for 2.5 days). Alamo is located on the arrival level of BUF (Buffalo Niagara International Airport). Just walk across the street and walk into the Car Rental Counters (you should see other rental car companies like Hertz, Avis, Budget, etc). I know there is a yellow sign on the arrival level that says "Off Site Rental Car Shuttles", but ALAMO IS LOCATED WITHIN THE AIRPORT PREMISE! The staff was really efficient and you do the check-in on any Alamo kiosks. After pushing all these buttons 5~10 minutes later, I got a free upgrade from Compact Car (Nissan Versa) to compact SUV (Nissan Rogue). I was able to drive the car all the way to Toronto without any issues and it was a simple and easy car return process. Overall I had a pretty good experience! P.S. - Alamo allows you to drive the rental car within U.S. and Canada, but not Mexico. read more

This was a refreshingly wonderful car rental experience. Tilece helped me. She quickly explained my options. She even gave me an honest selection of cars. This also is one of the easiest car rental experiences I've had in an airport simply from a logistical standpoint. The car rental structure is connected to baggage claim. From plane exit to car, it was less than a 10 minute experience. I was on the road and headed to my destination in rapid fashion. I will rent from this location again for sure. read more

Rented a car from this location and the service and check in process was fast and easy. The car was in good condition clean and they provided Clorox wipes to disinfect the vehicle before driving. My return was quick and easy . I was greeted by Denver who was so helpful with the checkout process . He was funny and so kind to my mom and I. I ended up forgetting my work iPad in the car and had to return back to the car rental place .When I arrived I was hoping to see Denver again but I ran into another nice employee by the name oF Austin who was able to help me retrieve my lost iPad. Normally, it is a good experience renting from Alamo at the Buffalo Airport. I make a reservation, typically through Costco Travel, and have no problem with what I agreed to pay with that reservation. This past Saturday, things seemed to be the same smooth transaction. When I got the bill after turning the car in, I discovered that the counter agent charged me a different amount, and added collision after I declined it at check-in. I noticed he did not ask what insurance that I was covered by, but thought nothing of it at the time. I was able to call the Alamo customer service line and provided them with the original Costco Travel agreement number and the one that the Buffalo desk agent overrode it with. I appreciate Alamo Customer Service honoring my original agreement, and now I know I can't trust the counter people at the Buffalo Airport. Never let them email the agreement. Make them print it so you can review it before driving away. They do bad things sometimes. read more

There's nothing like arriving late at night after a long day of travel only to find that your RESERVED rental car is unavailable. In fact, it seemed no cars were available at any of the car rental agencies at BUF, regardless of reservation status. There must have been 40 people in line at this point. We were told we could come back at 7 am the next morning (so were there really NO cars or were they just not clean and ready?), but instead just Uber'd to our hotel. read more

I tried to reserve a car online but Alamo's web site said the reservation did not go through. I gave up and reserved a car through another company. Then when a logged onto my email--surprise! The reservation did go through and it would cost me $50 to cancel it! I called customer service and they insisted that since I was given a confirmation number, I would be charged $50 to cancel the reservation. But then I got an email--which I confirmed with my bank--that I was given a full refund. I'm happy that they finally did the right thing. But it was a very frustrating experience trying to make a reservation with a glitchy web site, a customer service rep who gave me the wrong information, and the threat that I would be charged $50 for their mistake. I've had good experiences with Alamo in the past, so hopefully this is not typical. read more

I rented an SUV from Alamo to go on a cross country road trip all the way to California and back. Not using my Honda Civic for the trip? Best decision ever because the Jeep Compass we rented from Alamo kicked butt. We put 8,000 miles on that baby, which only had 9,500 to start with. I definitely felt like I got my money's worth for the price paid for the rent ;)! Rate for two weeks and unlimited mileage was very reasonable considering this. Checking out was painless and we ended up returning the car one day early and got credited back a decent amount of $$, which was awesome! I dock one star for one reason only: when reserving the car, I was under the impression that I would get a Toyota RAV4 and I asked explicitly on the phone for this option and then booked online. They only had a Jeep Compass at the location and when I contested this, they said it's in the same class so that's what they will rent us. Initially I was disappointed because I was banking on the RAV4's excellent gas mileage for a cross country trip, but a quick search showed a very small difference and ultimately we were super satisfied in the Jeep Compass. In truth, we fell in love with that car by the end of the trip and were super sad to let it go. Pro-tip: if you have an American Express credit card or a Bank of America CC or any other major credit card company, OPT OUT for the additional insurance the car rental company may try to sell you and just pay with your credit card. Check and call to confirm your own CC# policy, but the credit card likely has their own insurance for any claims up to $50,000 for a car, so you don't need to feel compelled to pay for extra insurance. Happy driving! P.P.S. If you're driving to the location from Buffalo, follow the signs for "Returning rental car" at the Airport and pop right into the garage all the rental companies use. I've rented more cars this year than perhaps my life prior. Some have been from Alamo. I admit I'm about price on this and I use priceline to get the best deal possible, I have limited loyalty to brand in other words. My interactions with Alamo at the airport have been easy and good. The cars have been fine, I don't go for the luxury ones, and they have worked, been reasonably clean and always ready at the time ordered. The pickup is easy. The drop off too. So far for me it's been the same young woman at the drop off and she checks the car carefully, is super polite, always makes sure I'm happy etc. If you have to rent a car and you are not status driven on the car front this is one easy, cost effective (Priceline) way to go. read more

Hurricane Irma - thumbs down, Alamo - thumbs up!! I was a bundle of nerves when my family was evacuated from our Disney vacation only to be evacuated AGAIN from our Savannah hotel. We just wanted to get home & as far away from the hurricane as possible so decided to drive home to Buffalo. The man at "800" number in our contract referred me to our home/local Buffalo area Alamo. The manager I spoke with (Scott) went out of his way to ensure our rental could be smoothly returned to our home location and drastically reduced the fee associated with the location change, due to the hurricane evacuation. Upon returning, the representative I dealt with (Yolanda) was super efficient, friendly & I was done with the return process in less than 5 minutes!! Alamo was awesome. My flight was delayed almost an hour after they closed. I needed the rental as I was in town on business and no one to pick me up. I called and they assured me that someone would be there. And they were! They even upgraded my vehicle. Just a side note: I booked on line with a travel site with my flight. The site didn't put in my flight information. Had I not called they would have known my flight was delayed and not waited. I used the kiosk as I am well versed with the machine, and when I was done the agent said I was faster at the machine than he would have been. Yup, I know, that's the point. Booked an economy car for 3 days for $58.63 total including taxes. Was originally going to take a shuttle or something to Niagara Falls, but this was a great deal so I took it. So nice! So EASY! The woman working the counter was like your sweet grandma who you just wanted to hug. She asked what hotel I was staying at, and handed me pre-printed directions to it. That's a first! The best part? Rental cars are ON SITE. No crazy shuttles! You just walk downstairs and get your car out of its assigned parking spot. Amazing. I tried to call the location to see if they could look for the item. There is no LOCAL number. Instead you are sent to a central number who also has no way to call the local center. They can only my leave a message for someone at the local center or you can fill out a report. So instead of quickly checking To see if I did leave the item I have to wait to see if they find the item days later. There really should be a way to talk to someone at the rental facility. While I understand the need to centralize services this is efficiency run amok l and not customer friendly. read more

The car was fine and service was quick but involved the usual rental car agent tricks, upsells, and scare tactics. They asked if we wanted Basic or Enhanced coverage on the car when the correct answer was "none". I knew better but I'm sure that they snare a couple sleep deprived travelers with that one every day. After mentioning that I would be driving to Toronto the agent ensured me that Canadian customs wouldn't allow me across the border without written proof of insurance. This turned out to be untrue as I expected, but it got me concerned enough to spend a few minutes on the phone with my insurance agent getting an ID card emailed to me. I would recommend this Alamo since most of the other rental companies all have the same shtick, but it would be nice to rent a car without feeling like I was navigating a maze of tricks and traps. read more

We have been trying to get a hold of them all day. WE HAVE LITERALLY CALLED THE ALAMO LOCATION COUNTER OVER 30 TIMES IN 8 HOURS. NO ONE IS ANSWERING. We have a flight that comes in at 12:26AM and a reservation for a car at 12:30AM. We called the main Alamo customer service line and were told that despite the 12:30AM reservation time, they can not guarantee that the counter will be open if we are even a minute late because they close at 12:30AM. They suggested that we call the Buffalo International Airport Alamo location directly. As previously stated, we have been trying to get a hold of them all day. We have literally called the Alamo location counter over 30 times in 8 hours. No one is answering. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST. read more

The rental car location in the Buffalo Niagara Airport is very convenient since it's located so close to the terminal but could really use better signage. We were able to rent a car at a reasonable rate without a prior reservation. That said, once you walk away from the counter, things get confusing. The elevator is slow, signage is bad and the actual car pickup area is dark. Return was ok, service was good, but physical plant needs some attention. read more

We were only in town for the day to check out Niagara Falls and needed a rental. The folks checking us in were great! They were patient and gave us some great recommendations. On the other hand, I had a very different experience when I was returning the vehicle. I dealt with an employee named Christian and he was condescending and rude. I asked for his help and he was obviously too busy to try and explain anything clearly. He had to get back to whatever he was doing on his cell phone. Management needs to retrain Christian and teach him some simple manners. All you had to say was, pull into an empty spot on the right, you fucking dick. Hope whatever you were doing on your cell phone was more important than doing what you were actually hired to do. read more

We enjoyed driving our car from Albany through upstate to Buffalo, very nice car. When I called to see if we could drop our car off at Niagara Falls instead ( about 20 miles away) we were told it would be an extra $400. Ridiculous. Awesome customer service! Our plan arrived close to midnight and had a rental reserved at National. When we arrived at the car rental building, the National booth was shut down and we panicked. Fortunately, Mark Woiser came to our rescue! He works at the Alamo booth, which was still open, and was able to help us get our car from National (he runs both booths late at night). I arrived at the airport at 9.30 and they handed key.I found child seat was missing so i asked them, they took 45 min to get that seat,remember i was charged from 9.30 eventhough car was waiting for child seat, i returned the car next day evening around 4 and they charged me another day of rent ..overall it was bad experience, i never recommend alamo to anyone read more

Service was great! I pre-filled everything out online so when I got there they had my reservation ready and they needed a copy of my license. That process only took 5 minutes after answering a few questions. The car was ready within seconds after I headed downstairs to grab the keys. The customer service agent at the front desk was extremely helpful and very nice. When I was returning the car, it was extremely quick. I mean I didn't have to rush back into the airport or anything because they handled the transaction within seconds. The attendant who I gave the car back to was amazing and conscious that they work at an airport and that most people run back late so she helped out really quickly. So when I was walking back into the terminal the attendant actually chased me down to give me back my charger and cable that I accidentally left in the car. Most people wouldn't have done that but they did and that counts a lot. Especially the little things. read more
