    Avis Rent A Car, in two words: Never again. I contacted Avis two months prior to my arrival at Buffalo airport to reserve a jeep as I have a disability making it difficult to get in and out of low vehicles. Fine, they said, "no problem." I confirmed it the day prior to my arrival. Again, no problem. But, when I arrived, it was nothing but problems. First off, there was the long line and painfully slow processing of their customers. Then, when I finally made it to the counter, I was told they had no Jeeps. But then, after over half an hour of arguing over alternatives, they suddenly, miraculously came up with the Jeep. But that's not the end of it. I then had to go downstairs and wait in yet another long miserable line to pick up the keys and Jeep. Overall, it took me two and a half hours to merely pick up a rental car. And then when I did pick it up, the exterior was unwashed and embarrassingly filthy. Worst yet, their delays caused me to miss my dinner meeting, and after surviving the day on airline food, I was hungry.

    Epic fail. No Preferred Member quick pick up (so had to go to the desk), unenthusiastic member, slow service and dirty car (either wax or road salt). either way it was 11:30 at night and i didn't want to spend the time to clean it myself. Normally i love Avis, but not this time. Maybe National next time i'm in Buffalo.

    I'm an Avis President's Club and Preferred Member and have been for many years. Avis has gone downhill system-wide, but this is the worst location. You can count on a wait that exceeds 45 minutes and interactions with employees that hate their job, hate you, and hate life. Ultimately you'll end up with a lesser car than you've reserved (or a minivan) that hasn't been cleaned very well. On 8/25/2024 I had a car reserved at this location (against my better judgment) and I stood in a line that didn't move. I finally decided to use a competitor's app and rent a car on the spot. I rented the car from a competitor, got the keys and picked up the car then came back up to the Avis line to meet a colleague and Avis had only served 3 people. Pictures posted are from before and after I reserved and picked up my car from a competitor. This Avis location consistently delivers a service experience that is so abhorrent, you'll leave convinced bad service is their objective. I've tried to reach the corporate leadership team but they don't acknowledge customers. Their arrogance and incompetence is a mirror image of their customer facing staff. If you rent from here allow for AT LEAST an extra 45 minute to an hour. More if you want a car similar to the one you reserved. It doesn't matter if you are Preferred or President's Club - You'll wait in the full line and you'll discover they actually hate Preferred customers even more than walk-ups.

    Rented a car, prepaid and had a confirmation number. Get to the desk just for them to tell me there was no cars available.

    Car is filthy and smelled like cigarettes. Told by another site that they don't clean the cars. Unacceptable!!

Picking up the vehicle this weekend was very pleasant and they even allowed me to choose from several available vehicles. For a Premium Crossover, they originally offered a Chevy Traverse or VW Atlas. I wasn't that thrilled with either of those, and after some more discussion, they offered me a new 2026 Nissan Pathfinder with only 500 miles on it. I was then quickly on my way down one garage level with the keys. The vehicle was very clean and ran well. I did notice the fuel level needle was just under the Full line, but just let it go. Upon dropping off the vehicle a couple days later back at the airport, because I was dropping it off 35 minutes late, the agent said a tttal charge of 30 extra dollars than what I was originally quoted. However, the Alamo agent at the pickup desk a couple days earlier said I would have one hour more to drop it off. The Dropoff agent named Zee was super friendly and explained it was the "system" automatically charging for the late delivery and easily reversed the charge. He also asked if they could do anything better and I mentioned how the gas tank wasn't 100% full upon pickup, and he offered a $20 credit. All in all, despite a couple minor issues, these guys quickly addressed them and presented good solutions. I will definitely be back to rent from them again.

This feels very much like what Wells Fargo was caught doing. I was with my senior father when he asked for NO insurance. Signed a contract that (we thought) said NO insurance. They didn't give us a copy of the contract when we left, which we should have asked for but my father and I were so jet lagged from our red-eye that we just wanted to get in the car and leave. When the trip was over, we were charged insurance and Budget said that we signed for it, without giving us proof of the contract. We also discovered that they didn't give us a full tank of gas. It was at 1/4 tank. Like we said, we left the space already before we realized it, but immediately took pictures of the gas tank and odometer, like 5 minutes from the airport. We called Budget to let them know and they said that we needed to file a report with Budget online. Fine. BUT when returned the car to this company, we told the attendant that we had pictures and stuff about the unfilled gas tank... After checking that we returned it with a full gas tank, the attendants told us that they were going to give us a $50 credit for the gas. We said, oh that's nice, do we go to the desk and get that credited back? They told us, oh no, it will just show up on your statement at the end. So we left and did nothing... BIG MISTAKE. Fast forward to getting the statement and not getting ANY MONEY BACK. My father called Budget only to hear that they don't have any record of the attendant offering this and thus cannot give the credit back. We're going to dispute the insurance charges via our credit card, and make sure Budget headquarters knows about our experience. And we WILL be filing a claim via their website about the 1/4 tank. Rent from anyone else but Budget. It felt like they purposefully did all this because my father is a senior citizen (he rented the car and was handling things) and thought that he wouldn't dispute the charges because he wouldn't know how or have the energy to.     Pretty bad pick-up experience here…read more What should've been quick took over an hour. I got a text that I could check-out online and skip the line - so, when we arrived we saw a sign that said if you're Hertz rewards to go downstairs (via elevator) to their window - which we did. I was then told that if you use the text it takes you out of their system and I had to go back upstairs. So, we had to take the elevator again and when we got up there, now there were 5 people in line. When I got up to the counter, I was told I should be able to go downstairs and they'd take care of me. I refused and so then they "upgraded" me complementary and I ended up with a HUGE SUV which is not what I wanted to drive around (gas and also parking issues) so I had to go back to the window and ask them to put me in the rental I actually booked. It took over an hour - as mentioned - and it was stressful and not at all the Hertz experience I'm used to. If this location doesn't offer the text check-out then they should notify Hertz to discontinue that for people picking up here. Drop-off was a bit easier and went smoother than expected - I showed up earlier expecting it to not be fast but it was like other airports and it is nice that it's so close to the ticketing area (directly across the street).

Waited over an hour in line to be told it would be another hour for a car to be cleaned for us. Horrible. The other rental companies at airport did not have lines.
