Went to them for years. At first they were great, but after a few years, when they gained my trust, they started slipping in unnecessary repairs and doing shady stuff. Most recently they did a bandaid clutch repair that lasted for a few weeks, after which they charged hundreds to rediagnose, eventually telling me it would cost $3k to fix the car, but they would buy it off me for a few hundred. Horrible experienced with owner/customer service at the front desk with Jocelyn. I've asked for estimated for some inspections and services. She was great at making sure things was done quick. However was so quick that I've got to pay for u authorized work being done to my car. Then I tried to talked to the mechanic and was denied by Jocelyn again. After all, I was forced to pay for whatever they've done to get my car. I spoke to one of the RUDEST people I've ever encountered in customer service over the phone today. After a few minutes of me trying to explain things as clearly as possible, she just was not understanding and was not able to give me a ballpark estimate within even a few hundreds or to connect me to someone at the shop who would be able to. And then she told me it would cost $50 just to have my car looked at, to say nothing of solving the problem. Any other place will at least take a LOOK for free. Firestone even does a complete brake inspection for free. Yeesh. So glad I avoided this place. In the end, I ended up taking my car elsewhere and getting the problem fixed for 15 bucks. read more

We have a 1999 Toyota Avalon that we want to keep running as long as possible. We bring the car here for regular maintenence and also when we have any kind of problem. This place is great. They do a really good job for reasonable prices. They usually give me a loaner car for free. They're always helpful and courteous. I have never felt ripped off. I highly recommend them. read more

Super disappointed in the predatory approach of jocelyn and this organization. Recommended this place to a friend who needed an oil change. She left with a $190 bill for the oil, a battery bracket which tongda insisted was a danger that needed immediately addressed, and a "cabin air filter." The bracket that holds the battery is a simple 5 min fix; she was charged $50 in labor alone. Pretty disgusting to see an operation try to squeeze every penny they can out of a customer who's trying to support a local business. I'll never do business with them again, but if you do, be sure that you're absolutely clear about what you want done and exactly what you'll be charged. And you can definitely expect to hear that your cabin air filter desperately needs replaced. read more

If you've got a clanky old foreign import you plan on driving in to the ground like I do, this this Clintonville auto shop needs to be put in your speed dial as quickly as possible. While it might seem crass to feel safer trusting my Honda to a shop run by a Japanese family than one run by a bunch of over the hill idiots (such as the rubes that run DeCola Glen Echo, for example), the service here speaks for itself. I first brought my car here for a simple tuneup job about two years ago, and unfortunately (for me, not you) I've been bringing my car back quite often since then. After my driver's side window stopped working in apropos of nothing at a Taco Bell drive-thru window in the middle of winter, the kind folks at Tongda were able to get me back on the road in proper shelter in just a day. To top it all off, the very kind woman that plugged my information in to the computer offered to give me a ride back to my house on campus while my car was being inspected for electrical issues that may have been part of the problem. Talk about service! The prices here are solid, the mechanics have no problem with implementing used parts in repair work, and their connections to scrap yards that specialize in discount parts for used Hondas and Toyotas is second to none. Before you let the dealership take you for the proverbial ride, you'd be daft not to let the fine folks at Tongda get the first look at your problem. It'll save you quite the headache, if not a boat load of money. read more
