Avoid this shop. They replaced axles, damaging several things while doing it. It was brought back several times with obvious issues they caused. They left me to figure it out myself. Easy in, easy out! I took my Corolla here for an oil change recently and had a very pleasant experience. They let me know my brakes were due to be replaced but were NOT pushy about it at all. My car was behaving strangely at times. Took in to Alan Cox. The tech couldn't find the problem and they didn't charge me for the time they took trying, which was admirable. BUT the thing that will probably stop me from using them again is the attitudes/behavior of at least two of the guys working there. They weren't very friendly or likeable...almost surly, although the tech who talked with me seemed like a straight up guy. The guy working the counter seemed a bit of a sh*thead, as did one of the guys I briefly spoke with in the shop. I'm not a difficult A-hole type myself so it wasn't anything I said or did...and I never or rarely get this attitude from people. read more

UPDATE: An out-of-town Honda repair shop that I know and trust looked at the AC and determined that the compressor was not the culprit. A significant leak near the compressor depleted the entire system (which should have been identified and addressed by Alan Cox Automotive) was repaired and the system recharged for less than $290. And, because I couldn't count on Alan Cox Automotive, the out-of-town Honda repair shop got my timing belt & water pump replacement business as well. read more

Took my car here hearing it was the best and as a college student 80 miles from my home I needed my car fixed by someone trusted. I know nothing about cars which is why I took mine to a professional and as soon as I did I was quoted over $850 for the repairs. I knew I wasn't going to be able to afford this fix so I had to drive back to my hometown to the man who had been fixing my family's cars for years who quoted me $300 to fix my starter. Which I must add that in all of the $850 worth of work the started was never mentioned as something that was wrong. I'm not sure if this was racial or if it was because I was a "young dumb college student" but I don't think anyone should be taken advantage of in this mannner. I will never return. read more

I recently brought my F150 to ACA. They rate 5 stars for their prompt and friendly service, and they were able to diagnose and return my truck to service after replacing a battery and fuel pump. I was informed that the battery cables needed to be replaced but they were not able to locate any due to a nationwide back-order on the part. I was able to order some from Rock Auto the next day. Three days after the rather expensive repair the truck failed to start. In examining the battery terminal connection I noticed they had greased the terminals. After removing the grease I found that the negative terminal connector was broken. Replacing the terminal connector fixed the issue. read more

I recently had my vehicle serviced at Cox Automotive. The front desk was reasonable, however the mechanic that worked on my vehicle customer service was terrible. I wanted to find out the root cause of my vehicle's issue and the mechanic had such a negative attitude. Furthermore, the problem the mechanic was not the problem. I ended up taking the vehicle to another mechanic (Ozzie's Mechanic Service off Holcomb Bridge) that resolved the problem within 15 minutes of looking at my car. If your looking for quality service I would recommend you looks elsewhere. A total disappointment and waste of time! read more

I have to update my review... Two months ago, I had service on my Acura at their shop. I called the following week to inquire about transmission slipping and the person who answered the phone told me it was just the cold weather and I shouldn't worry about it. This morning my transmission failed completely on 400 and I was stranded for over an hour on the side of the expressway with 18 wheelers screaming past my doors at 80mph. I am extemely fortunate that Acura extended their warranty on recalled 02 TL transmissions until 7 years, 9 months or 100K miles. My car sits at 7 years, 4 months. I had the car towed to Ed Voyles and the repair, a loaner and the tow are going to be covered under my warranty. Had my transmission hung on for just a few more months, I'd be looking at several thousands of dollars worth of repair on a car that's already thousands of dollars upside down in equity. I am furious to learn that such a significant detail was not considered. To call themselves Acura specialists, they should, at the very least, be cognoscente of Acura recalls and defects and act as expert consultant and advisor to your clients. I can't say I am disappointed in that service they performed, but I expect more from a specialist, much more. They seem honest and fair. If price is your primary motivator or you don't want to travel to the East Top Side, I can still recommend them. However, if you think something is wrong with your car, you might want to make the trek over to EV to have them diagnose. You can still have AC do the work. Jacknson Acura I would avoid read more

I bought a Groupon for $200 worth of tires from Alan Cox. Before buying it, I checked their site, and the MOST expensive tire listed for my car was $88 each. After buying the Groupon, the pricing disappeared from their website. When I called in, they quoted 3 different tires, ranging from $231 to $249 for a pair. When I mentioned the prior pricing, they offered me a lower grade (40,000 mile) tire at $221 for the pair. In our first conversation, the employee offer a lame statement that they had "some wrong pricing that took a few days to fix" or something to that effect. Look elsewhere. read more

Tried to rip me off!!! Ok, so when I got a $450 estimate at another garage for an altinator for my wife's car, I called Allen Cox Auto to price one out. So they told me it would be $430. I asked why it was so expensive given that autozone quoted me $130 for the part. They explained that Autozone was a rebuilt part and that their product was a factory part which would be more reliable. OK fine. 3 days later I took my wifes car there and dropped it off over night. They called me the next day and quoted me a price of $690 to replace her Altinator!!! I told them I was the one to call in and ask for a quote several days before and why did they quote me $430 to begin with? The guy said that He must have looked up the wrong part number. I told them to forget about it, I would take it somewhere else. They said they could also put in a rebuilt altinator for $575. What!!!!! So What happened to the factory altinator that they quoted me for $430 days before? So I told them I would come pick it up and take it somewhere else. 30 secconds later I got a call back saying they would go ahead and do it for $450. I get the feeling you cant trust any mechanics these days and these guys do not help the reputation. I would not trust theses guys!!! read more

Have used Alan Cox to service my 2001 Odyssey for about 18 months. Thought they were doing a decent job until I had brake work done. At 150k miles, the front pads were replaced. Within 1k miles of the replacement, the front brakes were "jerky" when stopping. Seems the rotors were now warped! Let them replace the front rotors and rear shoes. A week later the brakes FAILED while driving 70 mph on the interstate. I managed to exit and get the car stopped. The explanation made no sense, but I was told the failure was not due to anything that they had done to my car. REALLY??!! Got home and found brake fluid puddled on the garage floor under the rear wheels. The repair was to install 2 new wheel cylinders and a brake drum (supposedly warped, but not detected during the initial replacement of shoes) at no charge to me. Somebody screwed up royally and it could have been disastrous. Will never put my life in their hands again. read more
