I have been using Scott Delong for many years on a older car that had over 300,000 miles on it and he has always done a great job- telling me what I needed and what to plan on next. I got a newer car a year ago and took it into the dealership because they gave me some free oil changes and they told me I needed $1600 worth of updates and fluid flushes - I didnt think I did. I went with my 2010 volvo s80 since I had a check engine for a while and heard screeching noises coming from the brake pads and thought the front ones needed to be changed since I recently changed the rear brake pads and rotors but still could hear the screeching after that. Upon arrival around 11am, I was greeted by a friendly young lady who took all my info and said that they'll call back to let me know about the diagnosis. Having not heard back from them for 2 hours I called back. She let me know they had a problem reaching me on the phone and let me know that their is a technical bulletin on my vehicule and that they would not be able to do anything about it since they called the volvo dealership who would not disclose moreinformation on recourse unless the car is at their dealership. She let me know that they might try to buy a flash from them but they were not sure it would work nor did they knew how much it cost. Being an old car and running fine, I let her know that I appreciated her honesty regarding that. When asking her about the screetching noise from the break pads, she let me know that all brake pads are new and do not need any replacement. I appreciated her honesty and not trying to upsell me event if I thought the front brake pads might have needed to be changed. I got my car back and they did not charge me at all for looking at it since their was nothing to repair. No bogus fees, no upseling, just what I needed and free to go. Have a 20 yr old car that has issues, but has relatively low mileage and is paid for. It's worth less than $1k per kelly blue book so I'm loathe to put any more money into it than is needed to keep it going. Then the check engine light came on - right when I need to renew my registration. Boo. Went to NAPA, pulled the code, O2 sensor, and they recommended these guys. Dropped the car off, let them know I knew about the other issues but just need this car to pass emissions. They called me a few hours later, diagnosed a bad O2 sensor, told me the charges for the part and an hr of labor. Never pushed any other work or even set up a soft upsell - no "well, maybe not today, but pretty soon you're doing to need to take care of X". I hung up and told my husband "we have a new mechanic!" Rare to find a mechanic willing to do the work needed and not try to pad the invoice. We'll start getting oil changes here, too. Used to go to the NTB on Piedmont but since Mavis bought them out always seem to find additional work that needs to be done. read more

I'm sure they are "nice" enough people at Delongs Auto Service in east Cobb Marietta, HOWEVER, I had to resolve a dragging rear brake issue myself - after they spent a few DAYS unsuccessful. Sure, I'm a decent home mechanic - but that's not why I brought in to have it repaired. (coulda done that myself from the beginning.) They improperly / inadequately installed / rebuilt my truck's rear axle, rear diff, etc. After they worked on my vehicle / rear differential and axle: 1. It had too much rear diff fluid in it. 2. The rear axle seals were improperly (or not) replaced, so, the rear diff fluid would sometimes leak out of the left side axle. Which caused another problem - overheating/dragging rear drum brakes -- AND 3. The rear brake (has drums) backing plates were completely worn out (they knew this upon remove/replace - yet they used them anyway.) So, the rear brake shoes could not retract as they should. SO, one of my rear brakes was dragging so much it was overheat/smoking - simply due to their improper work and lack of seeing my backing plates needed replacing. These guys spent over a day troubleshooting the issue - but found nothing wrong (I was there the whole time - so I know they were "working on it.") I had to do my own research (days worth,) my own troubleshooting to find the problem. Too much Diff fluid, improperly rebuilt rear axle and diff (they didn't replace a seal on the left side axle,) and they missed a very obviously worn pair of rear brake backing plates. I GUESS I appreciate that some issues are difficult to diagnose - especially on an older vehicle (1990) HOWEVER, don't make me do what I could have done to begin with. And, as some other Reviewers commented, the shop's Owner has a bad attitude, and is fairly clueless on how to treat customers as well providing a comfortable customer experience/environment. I witnessed this myself. He should probably consider retiring if it's that hard on him. They successfully repaired a couple of other issues on my vehicle - so - it wasn't ALL BAD. It was a very lengthy / pricey job overall. Half of it done poorly. Needless to say, I won't be back (and these guys are less than five minutes from me.) read more

I've been a customer of Scott's for a few years now. I take all my vehicles (6 cars ) to them for repairs I do not want to do myself. They have always been kind , professional, and fair with pricing . On top of that most repairs are done in a day even when I come with last minute repairs. They have gone out of their way to troubleshoot difficult issues at little to no cost to me even when a part failure ,was not their fault. My car was in need of brake service, I requested ceramic pads and new rotors at all four wheels, also an oil change using oil and filter supplied by me. First off the oil was overfilled by 3/4 quart, this could be harmful to my car. Days following I returned to inquire about loud noises coming from my brakes, THREE TIMES! Finally after being lied to, I took the car to a professional shop in Kennesaw and they discovered sub standard pads were installed and they installed a quality set of pads that corrected my problem. In less than 8.000 miles the car started vibrating when braking, almost complete brake failure while traversing Mont Eagle Tennessee last weekend. When I got back to Marietta I left my car at Regal Nissan on Holcomb Bridge Rd. in Roswell only to discover the sub-standard rotors that were installed at Scott DeLongs were warped, warped with under 8000 miles on them. This debacle cost almost 900.00 at DeLongs shop, 89.00 at the shop in Kennesaw and another 690.00 at Regal Nissan. This is a well kept clean Pathfinder Platinum, babied and garaged. Before you visit Scott DeLongs think it through. I didn't go back to waste more time and get lied to again. Life's too short. read more

Scott Delongs Auto Repair has total disregard Covid-19. Went to Scott Delongs Auto Repair on Post Oak Tritt near Sandy Plains Road for some big repair work. I had work done there last year. As they wanted to drive my car on the lift I ask them if they would wash their hands and put on a mask before getting into the car and the answer was no, with attitude from the owner Scott Delong. This is the type of attitude that will get more people sick or worse. I left in total disbelief. I then called 2 other repair shops and they said they require all their techs to wash hands and put on and wear mask before entering their customers cars for their techs safety and their customer safety. read more

My experience was terrible. I've been there before and it was fine nothing to brag about. But this time I went in, The owner Scott was so rude to me. I explained my tire was losing air and wanted to see if he could fix it. I left my car with him then he called and told me that my tires could not be fixed and instead of telling me how much new tire would be... he said I suggest you come get your car and go somewhere else. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm a bad driver. Actually, I consider my driving to be a balanced combination of safety + aggression. The only problem is I tend to hit things, such as curbs and I also tend to just ignore noises coming from beneath the hood of my car until bright lights appear on my dash. :/ I've taken my car to Scott Delong countless times and they've always given my great service. Two years ago I had an issue with my VW Beetle where if I let it sit and didn't drive it for a full day it wouldn't turn over the next time I went to start it. VW tried everything and couldn't figure out the problem, we're talking multiple alternators, multiple batteries, replacing the radio and the ignition switch and this all went on for a full year. To say the least, they were clueless and were just guessing what the problem was and I'll never be going back to them again. Not only is Scott Delong much cheaper than going to a dealer but they're not going to BS you if they don't know what's wrong with your car. Scott's place is no longer convenient for me, I use to work across the street, but even though it's out of my way to use his services I'll definitely continue to come here. read more

Every experience I have with Scott and his team are great. After hearing about them through a friend I decided to take my car here (Volkswagen). They know what they are doing and are consistently cheaper than going to the dealer. They've proved my loyalty to them many times. I've gotten oil changes to engine work done. From their motto, the word "honesty", is something that I've experienced here with them. I recently had a clutch problem and they carefully diagnosed the problem in order to minimize what parts of the engine they had to open up and replace. While a more expensive type of problem in any shop, due to their processes, it was cheaper for me (less time). They could've said that they needed to replace everything but they didn't. This usually happens when a shop isn't experienced (or doesn't take the time) and hopefully solves the problem by putting a slew of new parts in. I've seen dealers take this course of action before including VW and Honda. You get that unsettled "they got me" feeling. As for my experience, I recommend Scott Delong's Auto Service. If you see any questionable reviews, ask them about it. Be upfront with them, ask them what the cost will be, quote the dealer, then decide where to go. "Whatever it is it will only take a day or 2" wait, what? The unmentionable repair shop around the corner had my Jag for 3 months, sold me a $400 key that doesn't work and tried to sell me an $850 fuel pump which I did not need and told me to tow it home! Auto Zone and Delongs confirmed the code was 2 NOX sensors, not the fuel pump! They fixed it in 4 hours and I was on my way! They also performed excellent service on wife's Avaitor (coil packs) and have done other work in the past with speedy turnaround at fair prices. Thanks Ryan and Pam for great service! I've been coming here for a few years. They still have my trust, and my business. And I'm educated, good shop, good folks, what more do you need? Super cheap? No. Reliable and fair? Yep. Update: 11/28/15 Well, after 5 tries on the above repair, still no luck so unfortunately I had to update this. My car that came in for a O2 Sensor, then had to get an Intake manifold, and now the check engine light is still on! We have gone through 3 senors, multiple trips here and the problem is still there. I can not get the emissions done on my car because of the check engine light. I am not happy! So I rerated down to a two star because of this issue. I have spent close to $1000 to make the engine light stop showing and here I am poorer and no wiser. I fear I may have to go somewhere else and have work done again! I don't know what to do, and no one at the shop can fix the problem....any suggestions? Update 11/30/2015 I want all those who can read all this that they are working with me to resolve this bug. I was referred to Delong's auto service by a friend as I was looking for 150K mile tune up oil change and local dealership price for new plugs alone was really high. I called and set an appointment for first thing on Saturday morning two weeks ago. I arrived a few minutes before 8 and the waiting area was already open and doughnuts and coffee were available. I was checked in by the owner's son and everything was just very efficient. He confirmed everything I wanted done and then didn't try to push anything else on me. The owner was incredibly rude. I called a few times over a few days in reference to getting pricing to repair my car. Because I was calling from my work cell phone, he accused me of trying to run a scam. In addition, he cursed at me and hung up the phone. I am a female, I do not know anything about cars. I was told by Lexus that two things were wrong with my car, but I didn't want to pay dealer prices. Hence why I contacted this repair shop because it's near where I live. The level of unprofessionalism that was shown by the owner was shocking. All because I was trying to et pricing information and to see how long it would take to be repaired so that I could coordinate getting a rental car at the time of dropping off my vehicle. Had a car that was stalling when stopped and a brake fluid leak at one tire so I needed to get it in as soon as possible. Very easy drop-off situation for after hours. They called later in the afternoon the next day to say that they took a quick look and identified the leak location. The communication was good; however, I was pretty upset for one reason. Chris called my fiancé first and tried to tell her that she'd need a whole new brake job (pads and rotors) on both rear sides. In reality the pads and rotor on one of these tires was brand new and I told them I had the parts for the other. The only thing that was ACTUALLY leaking and needed replacing was the rear caliper on one side -- their proposal wouldn't have addressed the real issue. I was a little peeved and felt like this was an attempt to take advantage and sell $500 worth of unneeded work. In the end one bad sensor that was causing the stalling issue was replaced and the caliper that was leaking was also replaced. This ended up being about $480 in parts and labor -- a job I could have done myself for $200 in parts. All in all not a bad deal to have them do the work. Just a sour taste with the up-sell attempt on the brakes to a woman that does not know the inner workings of car braking systems. read more

I had a clutch replacement on my Jeep, but they installed my skid plate incorrectly. It later cost me another $80 since the parts were damaged. Maybe it's just a Jeep thing. Scott is a great mechanic. Anytime one of the family cars needs a repair we take it to Scott's. My car was having a sputtering issue and dropped it off and also needed an oil change and a cabin air filter replaced. I dropped it off at 5pm, and by 9am the next morning Scott had already called me with the diagnosis (motor mounts) with an exact quote. The work was done in a couple of hours and it runs so much better. He is very honest and fast mechanic and goes out of his way to help you out. Scott and his team are the best mechanics in town.
