When here on Valentine's Day without a reservation with my husband and 10 year old niece. The place was a lot larger than I thought it would be and then had a nice casual One, decent woodwork and a giant bar ! The wait for a table was over a half an hour, but then some seats at the bar opened up. We grabbed them and verified with the bartender that there would be no issue.. We placed our order: I got the fillet with corn/mashed, my niece got mozzarella sticks and my husband got a burger. After about a half an hour some of, our food (husband/niece) came out and then the manager came over, freaking out that we were sitting at the bar with a child. The lady was rude and nasty, but assured us that she would get us an available table. The bartender informed us that the manager "was a bitch", not really a professional thing to say to your customers. They moved the food to another table but the bartender was still supposed to be our waitress. My food never came out EVER. The Dixie bartender told me that they forgot to make it. 20 minutes after everybody is finished eating my food finally comes out. The bartender apologized, said that they would credit the bill for the food and give me a complementary glass of wine.. She gives me the wine. The burger was decent, the mozzarella sticks were mozzarella sticks. I should've got a burger, but they labeled this as a special and called themselves a steakhouse. I don't know how a state could have such an uneven cook. Half was charged and half had these weird grill marks on it. As you can see from my photos, there is not one drop of juice on that plate! Corn was undercooked and out of season. Mashed potatoes were decent, but that should never be the highlight of the meal.. The bill comes and the waitress apologized, but said the manager said she couldn't credit off the meal as she initially stated because once again "she's a bitch'". It seems like the manager and the staff are not on the same page at all, which does not work well for a restaurant. I guess one star for the burger I didn't eat or the mozzarella sticks. -4 stars off for the quality of the steak and the chaos of this evening. I have never seen management be more unprofessional or yell at a staff member in front of me. The fettuccine with chicken and shrimp was very good; but I would have liked a little more shrimp. The burger that my friend had was really tasty. The chicken wings were gobbled up quickly. If you like seafood; I have had the Captains Platter in the past and it was delicious, but expensive. So if you're looking to spend a little extra money for unique decor and good quality food, then I can highly recommend this restaurant. read more

He and Stacy made sure my family were well taken care of. He is an asset to the establishment and should be acknowledged as such so tonight I tried the chicken Francese tonight and I must say it was delicious. My daughter had the Red snapper which she said was delicious, wifey loved the Philly cheesesteak and my grandson loved the kids spaghetti and meatball and the nephew loved his kids cheeseburger. We have been coming here sporadically for the past 25 years +/-. Food is great. Absolutely fit the the bill tonight. Fun atmosphere and always a place we can count on. We just went again yesterday, it was slightly breezy but we had a little dog and two little kids with us, so we sat outside. Josh was prompt, friendly, accommodating and a total professional. Food was horrible. We got a hamburger (tasted horrible), the Mac and cheese (extremely dry), pulled pork sandwich (not good at all) and a kids meal. We went here for lunch yesterday. I ordered cheese steak along with my wife. Our daughter ordered linguine. I will say the food was decent, not amazing, not bad, but sufficient. The fries I thought were very good. Service was alright, waitress did not come too often and did not disappear. So, service was good. We asked to eat outside because it was nice out. They placed us close to the door which was a huge wind tunnel. So, this is where the issues arise. The waitress told us to hold on to everything because the wind. Well if you know that's an issue why not place us in areas the wind was not bad. There was not many people outside so there were plenty spaces outside of the wind tunnel. Another issue was the construction from the quarry across the street blew sand and dust as the heavy equipment drove and moved rock. The final issue was the price. These were vacation area Poconos prices. Definitely did not match the food. You can go around the corner to get the same meal which I believe is better cheaper. So I explained what we ate along with drinks and a dessert of tiramisu that was shared and our price was well over $100 with military discount. read more

Highly disappointed in this restaurant as it's definitely gone downhill. We went for dinner and when we walked in, almost all of the indoor tables were empty. We were sat and the order was taken. First, they were out of cheese for French onion soup. They offered to make it with American instead . They were also out of lobster bisque and a few other menu items. We started with an order of appetizers and after a 45min wait, our appetizers were not out yet. The waitress kept saying "I think they're coming soon". By then, all tables around us had been sat and had their food!!! We flagged down the waitress and told her to cancel our order because it was not acceptable to wait that long. We had ordered sodas when we sat, which were still over half full(we had waters too) The waitress brings over the check for the sodas. The manager did come over and apologize and didn't charge us for the soda. Visited Alaska Pete's for dinner once we had arrived in the Poconos. Unfortunately there are not many places open late as we had arrived in the area a little after 8 that evening. We were quickly seated in a roomy booth inside. We ordered some appetizers-- the nachos and the calamari. Thankfully our waiter suggested to order 2 appetizers for our party of 6 and thankful for that suggestion as we demolished those apps! The long drive got us hungry! For entrees, we all ordered different items. I chose my favorite sandwich, the corned beef Reuben and it came with a side of fries and of course some extra thousand island dressing on the side. Loved it and it was the right portion size for me! Our group had also ordered the salmon, cheesesteak, stuffed flounder, and chicken wings. Although our service person, Carter, was amazing, the meal (like everyone else's at my table) was bland. My mahi mahi was overcooked and came with a scoop of potatoes as if I had been on a school lunch line. The drinks were also "okay". She seemed to predict our needs (could it have been our damp, ruddy appearance from a long day in the heat and sun?) and kept the cold drinks coming! We ordered a calamari and a naan flatbread app. The calamari was perfectly crispy and the dipping sauce was delicious. The naan was smothered generously in both sauce and mozzarella cheese. While I'm a firm believer that anything smothered with sauce and cheese is delicious, it was not a grocery store freezer item! The naan bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and also chewy with a hint of sweetness. My husband ordered baked salmon with a baked potato and steamed corn on the cob. The salmon was flaky yet juicy on his fork and the baked potato arrived steaming hot in a foil jacket. He devoured fish and potato in seemingly seconds! Last, he exclaimed, "I always forget how much I love corn on the cob with a hint of salt in the summertime!" After the apps, I was looking for something light. As a southerner who moved to the mountains. I was instantly drawn to their Southern Pride BBQ selection. I finally got the opportunity to join a party of people yesterday who also wanted to explore Alaska Pete's. It was a rainy night so we had to be relocated to another table because the ceiling was dripping. Though, the hostess did not want to relocate us at first. She changed her mind eventually and set us up nicely in another area. Our waitress was the bomb!! Let me start by saying this is a very beautiful, clean, cheery and well lit restaurant. It's spacious with plenty of room between tables. The bathrooms were clean. So now......here's the scoop.....This restaurant needs to make an appointment with a psychotherapist because it truly has an identity problem. It can't really figure out what kind of restaurant it wants to be. The menu is all over the place. Is it a steak house? An Italian restaurant? BBQ joint? Fish house? Or a Pub? It's not sure and neither was I. We came for dinner. Some tables were served water in plastic disposable cups. Some tables got glassware. The napkins were paper. (If you are going to spend $40 for a steak you should have a real drinking glass and cloth napkin). There was a live piano player playing lovely songs and then dozens of televisions playing different programs on every wall. It was just confusing. Now the food....it was ok. We ordered the "famous chicken wings". They were large, but nothing special. Tasted like wings with "Franks Red Hot" sauce on it. The Chicken Sizzler came out steaming hot. The chicken was bland, the peppers and onions were good. The BBQ Brisket was fatty, sweet, and rich. It was a small portion, not worth the price. The cole slaw reminded me of supermarket store bought coleslaw. Now the fries, I disliked them. To me, they were soggy and not cooked enough. My wife, she liked them a bit more than I did. I think the prices were way too high, the meal was expensive and I didn't feel the value was there. My friend and I traveled 2 1/2 hours from New York with our small dogs, and since we couldn't check into our lodge until 4 PM, we hadn't eaten all day. We read online that the restaurant was dog-friendly, so we decided to stop by. Our dogs were in strollers. When we walked in, the server, Joe, stared at us as if we were out of place and asked, "What is this?" while pointing at the dogs. I mentioned that I had read online that the restaurant was dog-friendly, and he replied, "Outside only," which was fine. I have been driving by Alaska Pete's for 15 years while my family camps in the area. This year, my 21 year old son and I decided to give it a try. We went at around 8 PM this past Friday. We sat outside, which had some nice ambiance. We both ordered a drink, with my order being a stoli dirty martini with three olives. What arrived was a regular martini. I informed the server that the drink was not what I ordered, and her solution was to bring me a shot glass of olive juice. At $13 a drink, it should have been remade to what was ordered. I asked for recommendations for dinner and was told the Captains Platter is popular. Listed as "A House Favorite" Delicious Lobster Tail, Shrimp, Scallops and Fresh Fish with Lemon Butter for $39. My son ordered a "Special," which was a one pound New York Strip for $45. First the Captains platter. Two small scallops, five medium shrimp, a decent sized lobster tail, and the smallest piece of fish I have ever seen. It was about the size of three quarters put together. For a side, I ordered a corn, which seemed like it was previously frozen. No flavor on any of the seafood at all. It all tasted bland bland bland. I had to drench everything in butter to get some flavor. My son's dinner was similar, with no seasoning on the steak and a cafeteria style scoop of mashed potatoes. String beans were fine. Maybe the chef previously worked at an assisted living facility where they needed to serve bland food in small portions, but whoever own's Alaska Pete's should taste the food and see what is coming out of the kitchen. I received the bill and paid. Upon walking out, I glanced at the bill and saw that my son's $45 steak was billed at $52. How many innocent diners paid more than what was listed on the menu? I went back to my server. She had to refund my initial payment and recharge me the correct payment. I was charged for a different steak. I spent over $110 for two dinners and two drinks for meals that were not that good. One time at Alaska Pete's in 15 years was one time too many for us. read more

The ratings for this restaurant are all over the place. The atmosphere is great. Inside and outside are very nice. I sat at the outdoor bar. It was a great day to be outside. The vibe was great and everyone was amazing to me from the moment I walked in. The bartender outside was working hard and glad to have conversation which made the experience even better. I ordered a burger. I see some people complaining about prices but I thought $12 was more than fair for a hamburger. It came exactly as I ordered it, medium rare. The fries were good and not soggy. I don't get the people nit picking over silly things. Times are hard, even harder for the restaurant industry. Not worth a second visit. We went while my step daughter was getting a tattoo in Pennsylvania and I thought the prices were a little outrageous. That's coming from a New Yorker. The cheeseburger with a fried egg on top was $20. Which is the most expensive burger I've seen to date and one with quality and flavor that did not exceed others that beat its price. It's a tourist trap for sure. Designed to bring you in with it's Christmas like decor and suck your wallet dry with a low quality dining experience. The calamari app was good, but the $40 ribeye was overdone, and the $40 BBQ sampler plate was lukewarm and way too saucy (couldn't taste the meat). Soda was flat and drinks barely had any ice so they were warm. Service was incredibly slow on a Tuesday at 6:30pm when capacity was about 20%. I know it's not entirely the restaurants' faults because the government wrecked them during the lockdowns and now with inflation, but it's still frustrating. Vanya was my server and she was very nice. For my meal I got the cod special and they made it a sandwich which I was so appreciative of. I also ordered the clam appetizer and it tasted soo good. Nice location with nice views, a lot of space. Now for what I didn't like about it. All together the group ordered the ribs, their burger and grilled chicken. Everything was blah, burger was asked for medium well, they gave it well done and it was super dry. Ribs were ok not very tasty, the grill chicken was bland. My wife and I ate at this restaurant last Saturday and everything we ordered was bad. We ordered the blooming onion as an appetizer and it came out like one giant deep fried onion. It was just one big blob and was under cooked. The shrimp dinner we ordered was also under cooked. The shrimp had a very thick batter coating on them and was like eating raw batter on the inside. The French fries were hard and dried out and so was my wife's baked potato. The only thing we ate was the salad. I almost never say anything but this time I did. The waiter came to our table fairly quickly but the service went downhill from there. It took 50 minutes to receive two dishes. We decided to try this on our way home from a visit to the Poconos. None of the food was especially delicious. The burgers were juicy but lacked any real noticeable flavor. My wife ordered the lobster tail meal and the lobster was tough, not tender as it should be. A friend ordered the lobster bisque and it tasted like tomato soup. She asked the waitress to take it back and give her fries instead. The fries were the best thing we ate there. My son's stuffed flounder had a a nice flavor and he enjoyed it.
