DO NOT GO HERE! They will take your money, damage your equipment, and compromise your safety all without apology. I took in 4 wheels to have new tires mounted and balanced. After paying and TIPPING, I went to load the wheels into my truck and noticed that they used tape and steel weights on my alloy rims. You NEVER use steel weights on alloy rims unless they are specialty weights (they were not) for two reasons: - Alloy wheels do not have rims designed for them and they will fly off in the first couple hundred miles - If they don't damage the rim on installation, the dissimilar metals will accelerate corrosion that will degrade the wheel After pointing this out they scurried to rebalance the wheels and add tape weights, which was alright until I noticed that they mounted one of the directional tires backwards as well. At this point I was less than happy and inquired about a refund at the desk only to be given the option of them further rectifying their mistakes... for FULL price still. I declined and told them I would take my business elsewhere. So, this shop was about to send me on my way with a backwards tire compromising the safety of my vehicle and with steel weights that inevitably would have shot off each wheel to either further damage my vehicle or hit another vehicle. I will never return here and if you have had work done here, please inspect your vehicle or have it inspected in case they have endangered you as well. read more

If you just need a random Summer or Winter tire appointment, this shop is great. Friendliness and service have always been good to us. Why 2 stars? Because almost all tire needs here in AK revolve around seasonal tire changes. And these guys have the most frustrating policy that they will not allow you to make tire change appointments until the day before. Every year my wife and I both start calling 10 min before they open, at least every 30 seconds. And almost every year we get a busy signal the second they open the phone lines, nonstop, until we finally get through to a recording that all appointments for the next day are full. While this policy works fine for them, they are booked up, it's maddening as a customer. I'm at the point that I might just stop even trying and take my tire business elsewhere. I was diving through town and got a flat on my rental. I pulled into tire shop and they said they couldn't help my. I asked to just put some air in the tire to get to the next place. I discovered that the sidewall had a hole in it. I asked to tech to borrow a jack. He said no problem. I put on my spare then the sales person said I can't do that. Then he said I owe 15 dollars . This shop has excellent customer service, and quick turn around when they serviced my vehicle. I purchased a set of Blizzak winter tires from them, and had them installed in November. They have several people working the front desk so check in/check out runs smoothly. You are able to make an appointment for service which is a huge plus in my book. I called a few other shops that were "first come, first serve". don't really want to show up to a tire shop at 7am, or be turned away once they are too busy for the day. What an absolute waste of time. At this shop I was able to come in for a quote, and then call to schedule the service. They provided me with quotes that I asked for with a few different options to choose from. I've never ran winter tires before, but decided this year it was necessary. We moved into Eagle River Valley, and I couldn't get out onto the loop rd during the first big snow. My all seasons just couldn't get traction to get up the incline at the turn out. I wasn't too thrilled about studded tires since there isn't always snow on the ground. I was given a no nonsense opinion on studded vs studless winter tires. On the day of my appointment I waited for about 30 mins as they installed my new tires. Service was quick, and the tires run great. I will be back for other tire needs! read more

I called at 759 AM to schedule a winter tire change over. I was on hold for 5 minutes when someone picked up the phone and hung up immediately. I went in and was told by the manager "that never happened." They had three employees working and implied I was lying. I took my car her to have my winter tires changed over. They did not change my tires stating that they were too worn and one of the tires had a cable showing. They then tried to sell my a $700 set of tires. After I got home and inspected all tires I couldn't find any major wear, certainly no cables showing. Took them to GCR Tires in Anchorage and told them what Alaska Tire had said and even told them I would buy a new set if they thought I needed them. After going to this location for the past 4 years, I have decided to make today my last. The girls manning the front counter are the most aloof and impatient store employees ever encountered. They have neither humor, patience, bed side manner, nor empathy. Prime example of little people getting little bit of power and letting it go right to their head. The actual mechanics are courteous and proficient as always observed; but even when there isn't a lot of customers these gals at the desk are obscenely lacking in courtesy and respect. They treat you like you don't have choice for tires and they are the only place that can service your tires in the whole state. No thank you! Gave 2 stars because they actually got me in on time for my appointment. Unfortunately, the tire change over took an hour and a half. I sat there while 4 other customers came and went with tire change overs. Furthermore, after inspecting my custom rims I found damage in the form of a large groove in my front passenger side rim. Pictures include for proof. My rims cost me over $1200 and would not have expected a tire service business to damage them with their tools. A couple of their customer service folks were pretty rude on the phone and I over heard them talking about clients in a derogatory way. read more

This place is great! Been coming here for years for tire change overs. Make an appointment and they stick to it, and they are fast. We have a tall vehicle and they have bays tall enough for that, and they watch the top to be sure there is clearance when pulling in to avoid damaging the vehicle. Recently called to bring in a trailer tire to put on a rim. They squeezed me in without an appointment while they were slammed with tire change overs all day. Demounted old tire and mounted new tire in 10 minutes for only $20! Love these guys! Super friendly, too! read more

Let me sing you a tragedy turned around by simple acts of kindness and professionalism.... Yesterday, I clipped a curb and blew out the sidewall on one of my summer tires (the day before I planned to changeover). I also damaged my rim. Volvo wanted $800 for a rim they couldn't promise would actually fit. I talked to Leo and limped my car into ATS on the bicycle tire spare. They examined the rim, trim down the cosmetic damage, pulled a nail out of one of my winter tires, changed them all over, disposed of my trashed summer tires, reset the warning light and I was out the door in 40 minutes for just $80. The techs were terrific and the front desk staff was helpful and knowledgeable. They were TERRIFIC! read more

In and out in about 45 minutes. The tires were a little more expensive than Sam's club, but cheaper than on-post. That and the whole time thing. There's plenty of nearby restaurants (by pleny, I mean 3, but it's Eagle River, so you know what I mean.) On 7/28/19, I posted a fair and honest review of the poor service and utter incompetence at Alaska Tire Service. When you visited our shop on 2/4/2019 we balanced the left front wheel and realized that the wheel was bent. Later that day you returned to our shop and we physically showed you the bend in the wheel. The location of the wheel was never changed. When you returned on 7/29/2019 wanting to swap out the tire, we explained that it would not fix the issue. We would be happy to show you the notes we took from your 2/4/2019 visit explaining that the issue was the bent tire and not a balancing issue. We value your business and would be disappointed if we could not come to a positive resolution. Please give Anna a call at 907-622-6288 so that we can set up a time to show you the notes from your past visits and come to a positive resolution. Thank you. It was "MY" idea that the tire be removed from the rim to check for a rim defect "after" my "new" replacement tire was mounted on 7/28/19. I then complained to the employees at the front counter and I was informed that their notes indicated that my rim was bent, which was the very first time!!! I told them that this was news to me, and that the last time I visited I was informed that the "TIRE" was out-of-round by the tire technician on my previous visit. Why would anyone purchase a $300 tire when they could purchase a $130 rim, which would properly correct the problem...my problem?! Your tech is to blame and he works for Alaska Tire Service! My very first visit is when this issue should have been diagnosed and brought to my attention, but your tech chose to give me a newly mounted tire on a new rim with wheel weights more than half-way around my rim! I asked that the tire be rotated 180 degrees and your tech said that it did the trick...BUT, it did not fix the problem of a bent rim, nor was a bent rim discussed. Your spin above is insulting. Alaska Tire Service staff is incompetent and incapable of diagnosing and troubleshooting issues. Why should I call you and argue? Your office has my cell phone number and you could have called me, but you chose not to call! I walked in right at opening time to see if they could fix my flat tire. I didn't have an appointment, but Anna greeted me with a friendly smile and assured me they could take care of me right away! Jesse and the guys were very professional and found the cause of the flat right away. Tire fixed and I was in my way in about 30 minutes! They even packed my spare tire back away into its storage compartment!! I couldn't have asked for better service or a more positive experience. I ALMOST didn't go here based on several of the reviews I read.... but after the AAA guy and my best friends told me to go here (and not the OTHER place), I'm sure glad I took their recommendation! read more

Spoke to Brady over the phone about replacing one tire. Some shops hassle you to buy a full set but I like that they understood we just needed the one tire. Gosh are these people ever so friendly? Great phone etiquette, took the time to look for what we needed and when we came in was fast and prompt service. Very fair pricing as well. I can see why the reviews are great. Very informative and was able to fit me in their busy schedule. I had a TPMS sensor go bad and they had to replace it, a couple days later the tire came up on my dash and had to bring it back to be recalibrated. The tech had difficulty doing it but fixed it without a charge. read more

If you're late on getting tires changed over, rest assured you will get it done the next day or two.
