Holy shmoly the gyros here are so good. Got a junior gyro and it was still big enough where I felt very satisfied. The lamb here tastes SO good, was sad when I hit my last bite :( Great little place to stop at in Eugene, their menu is pretty small which I love so next time I can try something new ! read more

Underwhelmed. Got the gyro and an order of garlic fries. The gyro was ok and basic. There wasn't a lot of gyro meat, which was good because it wasn't very flavorful and just extremely salty. The fries are just fries shaken with too much paprika, fresh minced garlic, and a few pieces of parsley. Again, nothing dynamic. After a few bites, I got a small side of tzatziki (which they charge a $1 for) to help mask all the paprika. The tzatziki was good and made the fries better. Would not come here again. read more

Excellent gyro store in a really unexpected part of the US. It's a really small store (only a small counter inside) but it's worth the trip. The tzatziki sauce was nice and tangy and the meat (which they slice right in front of you) had nice, crisp burnt edges (my favorite part). I also had the fries - nice garlicky flavor - and the baklava which was honestly one of my favorite parts of the meal. They load it with nuts and the simple syrup is dark and browned with a toasty flavor. I absolutely would go back just for the baklava. read more

Had high hopes for this searching out one of the few falafel places in Eugene. Overall it was kind of disappointing. The good: Falafel balls wet cooked perfectly. Large enough so the center was moist and flavorful. So often places make small ball and overcook them. These were exceptionally good. The Bad: Asked for (even wanted to pay additional but they didn't charge me) extra feta cheese and peperoncini - got neither. Ordered green salad with falafel. Absolutely tiny salad, a little dust of tahini and no dressing. The tzatziki was runny and milky, not thick nor any consistency of normal tzatziki. No hot sauce, no tahini sauce, really nothing that you would expect from a normal middle eastern fare establishment. Seems they cater to a local crowd that simply doesn't no any better. Wouldn't go back. The search continues for proper falafel in Eugene!!! read more

Always consistently good, even if perhaps it could pack even more flavor (but then it would probably alienate some of its clientele). I really like that you can taste the lamb, and that their service is fast and nice. Why four stars? For the pita bread, which could be definitely improved. Would I go again? Yes. To this location though? No. This one is apparently the smaller location of this same restaurant and the other is larger with a lot more choices on the menu. It took a long time for the food to be ready and they didn't have many options in general. The food itself was alright, I would come back just because I haven't found my go-to Greek/Mediterranean place yet. On a rainy Wednesday we ate here for lunch. It's small with only stool seating indoors, but there is enough overhang that we comfortably enjoyed our meal outdoors, even with a 6 month old in a stroller. We were greeted and offered samples, then both ordered gyros--with customizable toppings. You could watch him carve the meat from the spit, very flavorful! The best gyro I've had since I visited Europe in 2005 and Turkish hole in the wall restaurants offered "doner kepabs" all over the place. I would go back and I'd recommend trying it! read more

Wish I could leave 4.75 stars! We hit this place on our way to Portland, we were really craving a gyro. The guy behind the counter was super enthusiastic and polite. I rarely entertain sodas but they have a bunch if old fashioned ones with no high fructose, do I lived dangerously and got one As some other reviews noted, the lamb/beef mix us nice here because you can actually taste the lamb, which isnt always the case. Greek fries were nice, though on the small side. Granted fries are about as unhealthy as you can get so not all bad, but sometimes you just wanna pack in a bunch of them. All in all, highly recommended, I really appreciate enthusiastic staff, good food, and a clean restaurant. I will be back. read more

The baklava is soooooooo good. Like i stop there just to get baklava good. They also have a really good selection of small batch and vintage type sodas if you are into that. The gyros are very good. I think they come in a smaller size and my wife likes that. This is a great spot to grab something quick when you want to avoid nasty fast food. If it isn't busy you can be in and out in under 10 min. When it's busy 20 tops. It is craveable food for sure and the owner is a really cool guy. read more

I have eaten at Albee's NY Gyros at least 3 times in the last 4 months. I have tried the gyros (of course) the famous garlic fries and a couple of their appetizers. In my opinion the quality of the food is good & fresh. The guy that works there ( I can't remember his name) is very-very nice EVERY TIME. He has given us fantastic customer service, fast and accurate every single time. The jr size of the gyros is perfect for me, and my bf always gets the regular size plus we have always shared an appetizer just to try something new. We have tried the rice wrapped in olive leaves and they tasted fresh, clean and light even though he told us those lil appetizers are imported from Spain ? I can't honestly remember the other appetizers we have tried but they are always good. I totally recommend this place if you like gyros at a reasonable price. This is one of our favorite places for a quick meal. read more

Besides the sweet young man at the counter calling the gyros, jai-ro's I really dug this lil spot. I say sweet young man because for the 20 or so minutes that I spent there, I witnessed his calm and kind efficiency. Business was pretty steady from the moment I walked in, til I left. He was pretty much a one man show, and he handled things quite well. I walked in waited a few minutes while the young man was making other orders, finally ordered a beef and lamb gyro with everything on it. I sat down as he was preparing my gyro and in walked a lady who was clearly a bit off (asking me what song I was singing...I wasn't singing). As she hung around she asked for a bit of cheese to go with her ramen cup that she had brought in. Anyone could be rude, and refuse her and even send her away, but that young man was so sweet and kindly gave her a little cup of cheese and bid her well. I know that I should be reviewing their food and I will, but I notice the aesthetics of establishments just as much as I do the food. And that young man warmed my heart that day. Our world is filled with selfishness and to see the simple gesture of kindness and goodwill makes me more hopeful. Okay the gyro, lol. So I loved the gyro, the lamb was tender and very well seasoned, the veggies seemed crisp and fresh (not sure if they were packaged or not) and the tzatziki sauce did not disappoint. I had initially ordered my gyro to go, but I couldn't stop eating it and thank god I didn't because, holy mess! You know when food is good when it's falling all over the place, lol. I feel kind of bad leaving 3 stars because everyone else on Yelp seems to love them. But it's important to remember that 3 stars does NOT mean it was bad. I like the food actually. I just can't give more at this time because it was not the best gyro I've ever had. For the price it was good and it definitely satisfied my gyro craving! To be fair, I haven't tried any other gyros in Eugene so this could still be the best one, I just don't have any here to compare it to yet. I have had the best gyro and hummus ever from a place in VA so my taste buds can't let go of that when leaving his review. The meat actually had great flavor! And he let us sample it and it tasted great hot. But he carved the meat and let it sit on our pita bread for minutes while he readied other things. It was borderline cold by the time we ate. Also, I have never had black olives on a gyro so I thought that didn't go well, but you can ask to leave off whatever toppings you want to. And lastly, the pita bread they use is store-bought, not homemade. So that's a little disappointing. The things I loved: The garlic fries! Very garlicky, very yummy. Also the falafel chips. They were very interesting but I liked them! The tatziki sauce is great. The prices are great. $25 for a large gyro, a small gyro, garlic fries, falafel chips, baklava and two sodas. Overall it was not a bad experience and I satisfied my cravings but it wasn't the best in my opinion. I still want to try the other location and try the falafel pita! read more

These guys are the Heisenberg's of Gyros. Wife was craving a gyro so we checked to see what the local Yelper's had to suggest and Eugene Yelpers were spot on with the reviews of this place. Add our 5*s to this culinary delight!!! One of the owners was nice enough to give us a sample of the gyro meat and that sealed it for us. We both got the large Gyro's and were pleasantly satiated. We will definitely be back and by the looks of the walls that are adorned with completed punch cards - many locals know this is the place to fill a gyro craving. Delicious Greek food with excellent customer service! I got the gyro, a falafel, and baklava. The meat on the gyro and the bread were so good. I got the junior gyro and it was the perfect amount of food for me. The tzatziki was ok. Not the worst but not the best. The falafel was so crisp on the outside and moist and delicious inside. Perfectly done. The baklava is homemade and you can tell. It was made perfectly. One of my favorites I've found so far aside from making my own at home. I will definitely return. It's very small inside but they do have some bar seating and a few tables outside. Not good for big groups. You can call an order in for pickup too. read more

As I was walking down w11th a delicious smell was coming from this little shop, so went in to check them out. I ordered a gyro pita jr. It was amazing, the meat was so tender, the sauce so fresh and toppings as I asked. The price was reasonable and staff were friendly and very informative. Albee's is a bit of a Hole in the wall , which are always my favorite.. The young man who took my order was very pleasant & personable... told me a little bit of the history of Albee's.. he's been working there quite some time.. I ordered the Lamb & Beef Gyro & garlic fries which I had Feta cheese added to them. The food was delicious & just what I was looking for.. Pick up an Orange Nesbitt to drink from their fridge. Albee's have consistently good service, atmosphere, and offers a good price on a large gyro. I appreciate that it is under 10 dollars, and I can personally get 1-2 meals out of it. If you want a delectable gyro, then stop at Albee's because this is the best place to get a gyro in Eugene. I'm serious. I'm really serious. Albee's has hot dogs also, and those are also delicious. The dog is meaty and the bread is soft and matches quite well with the hot dog. I go to Albee's quite often and I'm on the verge of redeeming my free gyro or hot dog from the frequent-punch card. You can pick what you want on your gyro and also what you want on your hot dog. I really like this joint. I almost wish I didn't have a washer/dryer at my apartment because then I could do my laundry at the place next door and get a gyro or hot dog at Albee's while my clothes are in the wash! I'm a sucker for a good gyro and Albee's provides that. What else? You can call in an order and pick it up. When you call an order in, make sure to specify what you want on the hot dog or gyro. There is also a small patio area. The prices are real good too. Albee's just introduced a junior gyro for $4, if you're not too hungry for a full size. There are also drinks for $1. Also it's cash-only so bring your green! The owner is super nice too. He has great energy. I was intimidated by him at first, but he's a cool guy and knows how to make a mean-tasting gyro. read more
