    California burrito
    Brian F.

Albertacos has multiple locations across Southern California and Colorado. This location in Orange is on a corner intersection with a small parking lot. We ordered the California burrito ($13.25) and the carne asada fries ($17.99). The burrito had a lot of sour cream, some fries, and not much meat or anything else at all. The carne asada fries were thin which was good but the only fresh ingredient was the small amount of pico in the guacamole. It needed something refreshing and they just didn't have it. However, I still liked it more than the burrito. Another interesting observation was that their red and green sauces came in pre-sealed packets instead of containers with lids which made me question just how fresh they were. For the price and what I got for them, they just weren't very good and I've had much better elsewhere. Their drive-through is open 24/7 which is probably one of the only good things about it.

My late night Uber Eats order - carne asada fries (wrong order) and 3 rolled carne asada tacos
    Debbie S.

So I need to start off by saying that I love this place. It's by go to when I'm visiting and staying in this area of Anaheim. But the reason why I'm giving this review 3 stars is because they messed up by Uber Eats order, and I was unable to get the meal I actually wanted because of not having a car for them to correct their error. However, the mistaken carne asada fries that they did give me (instead of a carne asada burrito) was still good. And their rolled tacos was crunchy as ever as I like them. Please just pay attention to an order when packing it especially when it's being picked up by a delivery service.

    Carne Asada Nachos
    Tanya W.

I always only order from here on DoorDash so I can't speak on service or ambiance. Some of the reviews here scare me even. But I do want to talk about how I enjoy my nachos. I specifically enjoy my nachos without the queso cheese and more with an oven baked style where the cheese is solid. This is the only place nearby, open late night when I have my cravings, and has it. It really does fulfill that kick. And the portions are great. Honestly, I love that one dish I get. And will get it again from them sometime soon.

$2 extra for a cold lump of cheese

Sitting here in the parking lot, during prime lunch hours, I have only seen one other car order food, I think I can tell you why... this place actually has decent food, but they nickle and dime you for everything! A basic lunch today of a bean and cheese burrito, shredded beef taco, and iced tea- totaled $20.84. I wasn't aware that I would be charged an additional $2 for asking for cheese on my bean burrito. The cheese added was not distributed equally, and there was a big lump of unmelted cheese at the bottom as I was finishing the burrito. It's just not worth it to eat here... so pay attention owners! Maybe the late night college kids keep you in business, but you should be ashamed for treating loyal customers like this and it's no way to be successful.

Order an asada fries. Let me say this... this gotta be the worst fries ever. I don't really write reviews even if the food is bad, but the fries was hard as a rock and tasted so cold and old. Never ordering this place again sorry. 1 star tho for the horchata, the horchata was my dinner. Btw the fork couldn't even poke some fries

What a rip off! $18 for this? There was barely any carne asada. It was mainly just fries and sour cream. Was still hungry afterwards. Very disappointed as the other Albertacos are generally pretty good, but sadly not this location.

    Carne Asada Burrito.
    Daniel D.

Decided to give this place a second chance after eating a really cold burrito while dining in, and the burrito wasn't cold this time. The redemption arc of this burrito is truly a sight to behold. Came in on a Saturday afternoon as the only customer. Service was quick and the staff was pleasant. I ordered Carne Asada Burrito and a large horchata. Horchata has only failed me in life once before, and I'm glad that the record remains the same after drinking their horchata. The burrito was decent. Nothing too crazy about it, I'm just happy it wasn't cold like last time.

    Breakfast Burritos "Extra bacon"
    Shawn M.

I'm not one who normally complains about portioning but if I'm paying nearly $5 for "Extra Bacon" I should not be getting a couple crumbles of it throughout my whole burrito no exaggeration, while many other spots that's will give more bacon for their regular portion, burrito wasn't too bad itself.

Mexican food of the Alberto's variety. Prices are reasonable and it always hits the spot. Not gourmet but you really can't go wrong.

I ordered the same meal, the veggie tacos, and they were nowhere near as good as the first time. After staying away for a long while, we decided to give Gabbys another shot, but once again the food was underwhelming. This place just seems very inconsistent, and the service was mediocre at best. My wife ordered a steak burrito, and when the food arrived, the burrito had no meat in it at all. She had to send it back. It's hard to understand how a steak burrito goes out without steak. It also feels like everything is pre-batched, which takes away from the quality and freshness. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, I personally would not recommend this place. The food feels very Americanized and lacks the traditional flavor and quality you'd expect from authentic Mexican cuisine.

I really liked the stained glass and elevated seating areas nearby, it reminded me of the Old Spaghetti Factory layout in Fullerton. Overall, I had a very positive experience. Nevertheless, I'd come here again to try their burritos, tostadas, and salads!

Katella Ave with as much traffic whizzing by as the 55 Fwy (which never whizzes). Ample free parking in the back and on the street makes this place even more attractive. Walk in the front door and you're in a quiet small dining room which is where I'm gonna be on the next visit where the loudest sound is breaking a Tortilla Chip in half as opposed to the main dining room where the sound can rival a World Cup game or New Years Eve at Hussong's in TJ. The boisterous party atmosphere in the main dining room eclipsed the Latin Loop and the vibe is controlled festivity. Conversations ratchet up depending on how many shooters are shot. The Decor: Some thought went into that. Thankfully there is no Mexi-Kitsch Ceramic Piggy Banks on bookshelves or Sombreros nailed to the walls neither of which really defines Latin culture. While the large menu is ambitious, it leans Mexican while reaching out to much of Latin America which was the concept and the intent. Inviting muted Earth tones and wood trim says date night. A comfy Bar with a flat screen for Margaritas and the World Cup shares the main dining room. Settle in and peruse the extensive menus for food and drink. Ice Water immediately appears. The Staff: Efficient and helpful. However, be advised the kitchen does not abide substitutions. I only wanted one Potato Taquito (they come as a trio) and one Al Pastor Taco Dorado (they comes as a pair). "Lo siento, senior, no es posible". I couldn't decide on a cocktail until I finally blurted out "Margarita". It was benign if you drink for effect. (read, it was Tequila weak). I gave it a stir without much success. The "no salt on the rim, please" came with salt on the rim. No matter, I'm flex. I swiped the rim with my napkin and forged ahead. Who goes there? Homey's and Hueros. The Food: It is "Latin" whatever that is. The menu is huge as stated and replete with dishes you'd identify as Mexican, ie; Tacos, Enchiladas, and Combos thereof, etc. However, there are also Cuban, Peruvian, Venezuelan and Columbian dishes too even though it's through a Mexican lens. It is, after all a Latin Fusion spot. Hummus Two Ways was intriguing. I instantly looked forward to a large basket of thick house made warm Tortilla Chips to scoop it all up with. Ah...no. The Bowl arrived with two Ice Cream scoops of something. One dark with Chipotle and Pepitas on top and the other a Pink scoop which looked like a Salmon schmear but was described by the Waiter as Chipotle. (It wasn't). No Salmon, no Chipotle and no tasty. The dark scoop had some nice heat, the Pink scoop was basically just Pink. Four store bought chips and and array of Carrot and Cucumber Spears to dispatch the scoops. I already knew better than to ask for more Chips. I didn't want another beat down. Hummus? I should have stayed in the Latin lane. Maybe El Mutatan should've too. Next, out came the Caesar Salad with grilled Chicken. The dressing wouldn't have impressed Caesar Cardini, a sprinkle of Cotija Cheese helped but the real star of the show was the Grilled Chicken which was exceptional. Hot, juicy and delicious. Kanpachi Veracruzano was a nice chunk of Yellowtail, cooked exactly the way it should be. It was firm and flaky yet translucent. The Fish was surrounded by "Sofrito". Nope, although it might have been a Line Cook's interpretation of Sofrito (which is a reduced Sauce/Gravy). Here Sofrito was simply whole Olives, Onion pieces and halved Cherry Tomatoes. Three house made Corn Tortillas which were very good and Corny ($4 for those) allowed me to DYI my own Fish Tacos which I had originally asked for and was told "Lo siento, senior, no esta en el menu". Ropa Viejo was wonderful. It usually appears as a lovechild of Fajitas and Machaca. Here, it is a Guisado (stew) with tasty Pinto Beans lurking beneath the Beef Bits in Sauce. It comes in large bowl big enough to bathe a Labrador Puppy in. It was just spicy enough, well thought out, and even better the next morning with two fried Eggs. El Matatan is Latin slang for "The Boss" "Expert" or a "Respected one". Okay, Jefe, I'm gonna go again.

The carnitas themselves are the star--tender, juicy pork that's been slow-cooked to perfection with that signature crispy edge on some pieces, delivering rich, savory flavor without being overly greasy. It's seasoned just right, with a nice balance of porky goodness and subtle spices that let the meat shine. Wrapped in a large, fresh flour tortilla (they make their own in-house, which always helps), it's stuffed generously with the classics: fluffy Mexican rice, creamy refried or whole beans (depending on your preference, but both work great), chopped onions, cilantro, and a solid dose of salsa. I went with their green salsa for a bright, tangy kick that cuts through the richness perfectly, plus a dollop of sour cream and cheese for that creamy melt. No skimping on portions here--it's hearty and filling, easily a meal that satisfies for hours. At around $10 (give or take, based on current pricing), it's a great value in the area. The burrito holds together well without falling apart mid-bite, and the overall balance of textures--tender meat, soft rice/beans, crisp onions--makes every mouthful enjoyable. If you're in the mood for classic carnitas done right in a casual, bakery-taqueria spot with great salsas and a friendly vibe, this one's definitely worth grabbing. I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5--only docking half a point because it's not reinventing the wheel, but it's executing the traditional style exceptionally well. Highly recommend if you're near 728 N Tustin St in Orange! Pair it with an horchata, yum
