I was getting coffee at Brot next store and was in the mood for tacos so I decided to give this place a shot and boy am I glad I did! The restaurant has plenty of parking outside, though the lot does get pretty full during the day. They've got plenty of seating indoor, and the restaurant is clean. Service was fantastic, the woman who helped us was so welcoming and accommodating, checking in on us throughout our meal. On the food front, I tried the breakfast burrito, asada taco, and al pastor taco. Everything was very fresh, and the salsas that came with it all were great (their red salsa is excellent, I've been looking for a salsa like that for some time out in OC, so I'll be coming back for that salsa alone). The burrito was a little on the bland side, but the tacos were both great with tons of flavor. I probably would skip the breakfast burrito but would absolutely get the tacos again. Overall I'd normally call this a 3.5/5, but am rounding up because the service was great, and the salsa and tacos were great too. If you're in the mood for tacos, definitely come check this place out. I certainly plan to come back! read more

No restroom for paying customers to use during the peak lunch hour rush is a big problem. If the homeless person made a mess then someone has to clean it up immediately. But I think they rather let their customers eat the food and use a restroom somewhere else today. However this seems to be a problem here on a weekly basis. The Carnitas burrito was mediocre and the meat was not quite seasoned properly. The burrito came out fresh and hot in about 10 minutes. I sat there and ate my lunch for 20 minutes before leaving. Please take care of your restroom situation and hire more staff. No body is available to clean the restroom here so they lock the door. Restroom out of order due to homeless problem. I asked for 1 Taco with Guacamole to go. When leaving I noticed I had a whole dish of guacamole. I went back in and asked for chips to eat with the guac since evidently this was waaaay too much for a taco! I asked her why they didn't just put some guac in my taco like most places just add and charge the extra fee. She was rude and said all business are different. Proceeded to charge me for the chips. The food ok. But the service needs improvement. Im all for spring small businesses but not rude places like this. My mom is an older lady and she collected her food tray with her waste, went up to the counter to place a to-go order and Ms rudeness at the counter told her to take the trash to the trash can by the door. She did not set the tray down with the intention of leaving it there, she set it down to pay for the to go order and then take it to the trash while she waited. What happened to respecting your elders and common courtesy??? The staff has to empty the trash receptacle anyway. read more

Hell no... worst tacos ever! I ordered chicken fried tacos, the chicken was cut up in small chunks and over seasoned with salt. I picked up the taco and the shell crumbled. On the menu it says tacos $3 my total came to $9.60. When I asked the cashier about the price difference she said fried tacos are more! Los Escaleras Taco Shop has become a work-place favorite! There is almost always a line because the locals know what's up! They definitely serve some of the best mexican food around! Just try my personal favorites: Carne Asada Fajitas, Red Enchiladas, and get ready because their Burritos are on another level! They also excel with their housemade red and green sauces.  We consistantly phone in orders due to the lunchtime rush, but wait times are never excessive given the amount of food we order. I've noted that they function on limited staff. The cashier, Melissa, is an all-star that does great in handling orders and managing most functions of the restauraunt while the cooks pack flavor in every dish that comes through. Final Thought: They have large clientele and their amazing dishes are cooked-to-order, and that takes TIME. It's NOT the place to go if you're in a rush. I loved it! I'm very skeptical when it comes to how good a place is based on reviews but hot dog is this AMAZING. I've never had such delicious carnitas tacos in my whole life. I've had tacos since i was a kid and even those really bomb street tacos from my childhood home made an impact. So having these ones that rival those is awesome. The nostalgia is real. Aside from that, the tortillas didn't fall apart while i ate, the carnitas were perfectly crispy and didn't have a single bit of fat on them, and the salsa was THE BOMB! I've got issues with textures so not having any fat in my food was a huge win. The side of chips and salsa are so good we had to buy a 24oz. container of it to go! My partner has the Chile Verde wey burrito and was enjoying every bite! It was about six inches long and topped with cheese and sour cream. The ambiance was nice and quiet today since we were the only ones there at the time so it was a happy meal for me. The service was also efficient, and accommodating. The lady was nice and helpful when asked questions regarding the food. I forgot to snap some pictures before we ate it all. For the last few years, I have been on the search for the best breakfast burrito around LA/Orange County and have enjoyed a decent amount of breakfast burritos in that time. Stopped by Los Escaleras Taco Shop after passing it on so many occasions. It is located between Papa John's and Brot Coffee. As soon as you go in, you will be greeted by the lady in the counter. It's a mom n pop shop. Nothing fancy, the menu is simple and straight forward. We were told the chile verde and carnitas were their #1 seller. We ordered the Chile Verde Wet Burrito and Barbacoa Wet Burrito. You can customize the burritos to your liking. I got my Barbacoa Wet Burrito with everything (meat, rice, onion, cilantro). The sauce for the wet burrito can be green or red. If you like spicy, go with the green one. I'm a green salsa girl so I went with the green. The wet burrito is bathed in the green sauce, cheese and sour cream. Barbacoa was very flavorful and tender. Everything mixes well together, none of the flavors overpower each other...they all sync in harmony. My husband had the chile verde wet burrito and he loved it. He said the meat was very tender and he loved the kick of the green sauce. We will definitely be back. read more

This review was different in that I saw someone who's opinion that I value torch this place, so this was a bit hard to remain objective-- Anyways, :) Los Escaleras Taco shop is located next to Papa's John pizza on main st, just south of where my beloved Manhattan's steakhouse use to reside, and not far from Anepalco's. It's labeled as "taco shop", so be on the lookout from the street. Walking in, I was greeted after a few minutes by one of the owners, I assume the Mom, and she promptly took my order. I really wanted crispy tacos, so I ordered some of those (I wasn't happy that it's an extra 1.25 per vs a soft taco), and a carne asada nachos for us to share. The lady who took my order is a very nice lady (our sons have the same name) and was very personable, so no issues with customer service.... On to the food.. Tacos: 2 stars--this is more about the delivery/presentation more than anything, the meat was delicious. I didn't like the portion size, the tacos simply exploded once I took a bite, and if you check the photo they didn't even put the cheese in the taco, it really felt like I inconvenienced them to have to fry up some taco shells. Nachos: 4 stars--We liked the nachos-plenty of meat, the chips tasted fresh, and they didn't skimp on the sour cream, check out the photo. The carne asada was delicious, it wasn't too salty, and again the portion size is on point. I would get this again when/if I come back here. So I would say the food is 3-4 stars, the appearance of the restaurant is 2-3 stars, and the service was 4 stars. Been a customer for several months now and go once a week to treat myself when I don't feel like bringing my own lunch to work. I always get the chicken tacos and side of rice. The tacos are always so consistent and good. The chicken is always well cooked, not dry, and the rice is really flavorful. Considering I've eaten there so many times I'm pleasantly surprised that I know the tacos will be as good as the last time. I have a dietary restriction too so I'm usually not able to try the whole menu at any restaurant, but I remember asking them one time to check on a restriction of mine and they asked the cook right away.
