I used the self check out today 4-20-2026 at around 11:10 a.m. and there's no bags so I paid for a bag and then walked up to the employee handing out bags by the self checkout and said Hi, May I please have a bag, there wasn't any at my checkout and I showed him my receipt out of courtesy. He's like why you showing me your receipt and I said to show you I purchased a bag, and he's like This ain't Walmart man. I felt that was very rude and disrespectful and unprofessional. read more

Although I've had bad experience with the pharmacy inside this market, I do have to say that I actually love this Albertsons. It's the closest market to my house and I do shop here quite often. I'm a disable senior having battled MS for 31 years. Some days I have a difficult time getting around and am always helped my one of Albertsons employees named Brittany. Today my neighbor who is a blind senior and I both needed money orders and of course Brittany was there again to help us out. She is kind and so patient. The employees in my experience are so incompetent and slow literally moving at a snail's pace to do anything if you can even get them to get off their phone for 2 seconds and do their job. Since the last post, this store has really gone downhill. Service is fine, and nothing is more convenient for us, because how close it is to the house. It's the selection. It seems like every time I shop there another product is no longer stocked and has been replaced by a severely inferior store brand. While some of the store brand products are great, so many just suck. Thank god Pavilions opened and Ralphs is just over the hill. We absolutely love our butcher "Joe", but the meat department is just too small and doesn't have the variety of Pavilions. The meat department needs a major overhaul and expansion. Joe deserves better. Cheese selection is also a major disappointment, even after the remodel. Again, they just don't have the selection/ variety of Ralphs, who smartly teamed up with Murray's, Pavilions is a little behind Ralph's but dar superior to Thi's Albertsons. It's almost as if this store is just an afterthought for the area managers and upper management. I feel bad for the employees, as they deserve a better place to work. read more

Not the cleanest, and I find their organic vegetables go bad pretty fast, but When it comes to needing a cake or cupcakes or help with bakery items, Charlene is the best of the best. She comes through in emergencies. This is the place to go for a good basic bakery. They don't have a lot of fancy desserts, but if you're needing a birthday cake or cupcakes, etc. she's phenomenal, this is my go to store. read more

Save yourself grief and avoid the pharmacy inside the San Elijo Hills Albertsons. I set up an automatic refill for my 13 yr old dogs prescription two months ago which needed to be refilled yesterday. I called to check on it yesterday and was told it would be available after 2pm today. I went shortly after 2 today and was told it wasn't available, it hadn't been auto refilled as it was out of stock, and they didnt know when they would get any. I had not been notified that they could not fulfill the auto renew and we are now in the middle of a three day holiday weekend with my vet closed until Wednesday. I had a similar experience here about 4 years ago when I showed up with an antibiotic prescription that they told me would take a week or more to fill. I came back as they were a block from my vet's office. Never again! they are completely unreliable! read more

Pay attention people, especially at the self checkout registers! There's never an employee keeping an eye on these and seems like every time, I see goods still on the machine that people didn't pay for. I mistakenly was in a hurry today and scanned my cooking oil without seeing the screen still had items on it. Before I realized, paid for $41 for cooking oil. I asked a cashier to take the extra items off my credit card and he said he was too busy to take care of it. This place is severely understaffed and has become horrible over the last couple years. read more

This is an absolutely beautiful grocery store! I wish we lived here so we could shop here on the regular. They have play tables in the front of the store for the kiddos. Nice touch! The chilled areas are beautifully appointed, and the wrap around produce section is a sight to behold. Friendly staff and checkers round out the great experience here. The store is bright and clean, but the employees aren't really friendly. In two different departments (pharmacy and deli), I stood there for a good 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Then, at the cashier, she didn't bag a few of my 'bigger' items which I would have liked bagged. They usually ask, right, not just assume? This was my first time shopping in this Albertsons on San Elijo Road and I've never shopped in a more unfriendly/unwelcoming store. Only employee that WOULD ACKNOWLEDGE me and was friendly was the new girl working the hot chicken counter (she told me she was new). Here's what really bothered me the most. At the check-out counter, I said "hello, how are you doing today" to cashier (Jacob), and he never said a word nor would he greet me. Then he begins chatting with the man behind me a little. Once finished ringing me up, I said "thank you for your help today" and included that even with bagger, and still ZERO RESPONSE! Jacob then tore my receipt off machine and just held out his arm to me to grab receipt, and never said ANYTHING! I felt he was extremely rude in never once acknowledging me, but would talk to person before me and talk to man behind me - I was completely invisible and unwelcomed. I am a 54 yr old woman, Mom, Grandmother and shop at other Albertsons and Vons, and never received such coldness from store staff before. This guy Jacob could use a lesson in greeting people, acknowledging them when they're speaking directly to them, and being friendly. read more

We live in this community and unfortunately we will drive 5 miles to the next closest grocery store over going to this Albertsons. It's pristine and organized but don't be fooled. We have purchased several expired items a few times and had to go as far as check the dates on everything we put in the cart which takes twice as long to shop. This last trip we refused to go back. We purchased a box of spaghetti pasta noodles that was invested with bugs. We hope that they will get new management that requires better quality control checking before we will ever return to shopping at this Albertsons. A little bit pricy for couple stuffs... always a great choice of everything... employees at the bakery always make me feel special by offering some fresh warm french bread which just got out from the oven. I'm pretty lucky to have a few options when it comes to grocery shopping in my neighborhood. This Albertson's is close to my kids' afternoon activities, so it works out well when I need to run in and grab something quick. They've got a pretty easy layout to find what you're looking for. One quirk I've noticed is that the eggs aren't really close to the rest of the dairy. Unless that's changed, they had it on an endcap near the deli stuff. I looked and looked on one recent visit and couldn't save my life to find an egg! Finally melted down and asked an employee who was passing by. Oh, they're over there! UGH! Anyway, easy in an out and good customer service. As is the growing trend, there's a Starbucks inside if you need to get a caffeine boost prior to running the aisles. Parking is easy any time of day. This review is for the bakery. I ordered a birthday cake - plain white with no special of fancy decorations. One was an 8" cake and the other was a 5" cake. When ordering I said that I was planning to stack one on top of the other, so the bakery employee said she could do it for me...without telling me that this would add $30 to the cost of cake. I now have a small, 2 tier cake that cost me $59.99. The manager refused to change the very inflated price since she said it was now considered a wedding cake. The things I like about the store: It's clean, new, a lot to offer in the bakery, deli, and produce area. It's convenient, close to work. Yes, the price is high but it is at all Albertson's it seems. This afternoon as I was exiting the store with my son, we almost got hit by an e-bike with two teenage girls riding on it. They were going very fast and came within inches of us. It was frightening! This happened at the store front, not in the parking lot. If someone were to get injured then Albertsons would be liable because they have a duty to maintain a safe environment. Regardless, I informed the store manager, Miranda. I was shocked by her response and attitude to say the least! She asked if they were riding their bike inside the store. I told her, "No, the store front." Then she said there's nothing they could really do about it. I said, "Well the store front is part of your premises. Why can't you talk to them? " That's when Miranda snapped at me, "Well maybe if you'd let me get off the phone then maybe I could talk to them!" How did someone so unprofessional get promoted to a manager is beyond me.... Since my concern wasn't addressed properly, I called back the store and spoke to Mark, the general manager. He listened to me and discussed how he was going to address this safety issue. This is my neighborhood supermarket. Yeah it's a bit more expensive than others but in terms of convenience to SEH residents it cannot be beat. It's big with almost anything one could hope to find at the grocery store. Wide beer selection with a separate cooler area for SD craft beers! The produce guy rocks b/c you couldn't find a single less than stellar piece of produce if you tried. Each piece looks like it was hand selected. Of course it's more expensive than say Sprouts but you can mindlessly shop for produce. The lines can get long at peak times and don't let all the women in yoga pants scare you. It seems to be part of the stay at home mom's uniform. Plenty of parking. Good thing b/c all those SUVs and mini vans take up some room. read more

Worst store (#750) and bad policies. This location is always understaffed with only 1 working checkout line whenever I visit. Self Check is available but always halts and requires clerk assistance if I have fresh baked goods or unusual items. Since there is no staff around the wait for help is always long. To get digital coupons, member deals, or member rewards, you have to enter your phone number. On two visits, the keypad entered typos in my phone number so I didn't get the deals. Today (Aug 26, 2023), when I noticed and told the checkout clerk (Anthony) my phone number was entered incorrectly, he said he can't fix it without having to void and rering all my items. As a result, I was overcharged by $8.63. Add to these inefficiencies and inconveniences the fact that Albertson's prices are usually $1-2 higher per item than Stater's or other stores. This store is literally 1/4 mile away from my home, but I WILL GO OUT OF MY WAY TO AVOID SHOPPING AT ALBERTSONS. I am DONE being inconvenienced and ripped off. read more

My day was absolutely delighted last week when I came to pick up a cake I had ordered in the event of celebration of me becoming a citizen! It turned out the cake was made with no charge for me! I could not believe it! I felt very special, I felt touched! It was not so much for me that the cake was FREE, but as much that somebody I didn't even know wanted to participate in my big life event. My Rx was called in around 6:30am, so why am I at the pharmacy at 3pm and my Rx still has not been prepared? The Pharmacist pulled up my profile and said that there was nothing on my profile, then she decided to check the voicemail to eventually hear that my Rx was called in. Albertsons, please staff your pharmacy with more than one person, and make it a practice to check the voicemail at least once every hour. There's no excuse for a Rx to have been called in 8hrs prior and the pharmacist still not be aware. The worst part of this was before she prepared my Rx, she made me wait so that she could assist 6 customers after she initially assisted me. read more

What is not to like? Every time I shop at this location the store is always clean and organized. The clerks are friendly and helpful. Like Sharon V., I like their selection on Organic food/snacks. I have also noticed that the prices at this location is cheaper than the other Albertsons in San Marcos. I thought it would be the same. This location does get a lot of traffic from the Starbucks inside the store. I notice it more so on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It is in a family community so you will see parents with their children in tow walking to Albertsons to get their Starbucks fix. The mini cafe is a great place to sit, talk, and relax. read more

One of the best - if not the best Albertsons around. This store carries a fair amount of Organics which I like - there are two half aisles dedicated to this so you will usually find me there. What I also love about the store is there's a Starbucks inside so I often find myself picking one up right before I do my shopping. This makes me happy. Note: try to avoid this store right after school is let out. This apparently is the after school hang out spot so it's like recess. I must be getting old because that just annoys me. read more

The store itself is OK. I can find what I want and the cashiers are friendly. One thing I would change is the Bank parking. Why do they have to have their parking area right next to the store? Wouldn't it be better if the bank parking was ACTUALLY NEXT TO THE BANK so that people going to store could park next to the store? Another thing that I would change is that I cannot go to here between 2pm and 3pm because all of the parents pick their kids up at this location instead of picking them up at the school. If I were Albertsons, I'd have the local police show up and start writing some of these parents tickets. I love this Albertsons! The store is organized so that I can always find what I want quickly, and the staff are wonderful! I do make one recommendation though: Under no circumstances should you attempt to go here between 2 and 3pm during the week. The local school gets out and many of the parents think that it's ok to completely block the area picking their kids up at the Albertsons. So I pretty much avoid the place during those hours. If I have to go to the store at that time, I go to a new store nearby in a new mall down the street in Carlsbad. read more

This location is notorious for expired food from rancid chicken, sour dairy, and old baby food. They also discontinue items. BBQ chicken wings were discontinued, then brought back. Today they discontinued honey wings. They even discontinued jelly donuts until enough people complained. Who doesn't like jello donuts?? Also do NOT go there when the middle school lets out. Rowdy kids running and screaming, self-checkouts are closed, and parents use the front for pickup making it difficult to get out of the parking lot.
