I've been to Alchemy a number of times for drinks. They have a kitchen with soups sandwiches, burgers and more. It looks good and the plates going past me looked pretty good. About a dozen beers on tap, 10 wines (mix of red and white). If you are a "wine-o" and looking for wine bar wines go elsewhere where. They are fine just not exciting (yes I'm a "wine-o") The place has a nice "pub" look. Wood/brick building... I like the comfortable look. It has a big Guinness mirror, a Jameson football scarf on the wall and other stuff things like that. However while I've sat here they've had some "headbanger" music on and now a long string of country western. For me If you have an Irish pub you should have music on that fits. Really enjoyed this place! Hubs got the High Hops blueberry wheat beer (local) and it was one of the best blueberry beers I've tried! I ordered the Akira (vodka, cilantro, ginger, coconut and siracha) and it was very light, refreshing and yummy! Not too sweet, which is important to me. Whenever I am on vacation I tend to over-indulge. Also, I tend to do extensive research on places and this establishment made it on my list to try while in Colorado Springs. We are only here for a few days but I intend to make the most of it. After a long day of going up to Pikes Peak summit and a luxurious nap, we headed over to Alchemy. Not only do I adore the lovely choice of pub name but the place also did not disappoint as far as the service and the food went. Apparently, it is happy hour all day. That means $1 off of their house wines. The night before, I decided to try a Colorado microbrew but I can't do beer 2 nights in a row so I went back to old faithful... A glass of cabernet sauvignon (or 2 in this case). Our server was nice and attentive. She brought the drinks over quickly and took and deliver the orders in a timely manner. It was great! I had the mojito sea bass ($17) served with some pickled watermelon and veggies (carrots & asparagus). I love asparagus but mostly when it's grilled or oven-roasted. I think what I had was sauteed though not overcooked that they still retained the crispness I love. The fish was prepared well with quite a bit of the mojito flavor and the watermelon was good. Okay, I have to admit... It was a little strange in the beginning but I promised myself to try new things while on vacation and so far, I am happy to report that I am 3 for 3 as far as trying something new for this particular vacation. I eventually got used to the pickled watermelon and actually liked it in the end. Such strange but exciting flavors! We weren't rushed by any means. I ordered another glass of wine after dinner because I just wanted to savour the moment and like I mentioned earlier, I just had a nice long, luxurious nap and wanted to be out a little longer. We sat there and had a lovely conversation without being bothered. As far as prices go, this was a fairly inexpensive meal and if I ever find myself visiting Colorado Springs again, I would make sure to pay this place another visit. read more

Except for the small portion sizes, Alchemy filled the bill on an early Saturday afternoon. The beer cheese soup was delicious, but the bowl was short. The lamb green chili was also delicious with chunks of tender lamb. Not much in the way of anything else but mashed potatoes. This dish should have been billed as mashed potatoes with lamb green chili. It was over priced at $13 for mostly potatoes. read more

I had a little higher expectations for this place based on location but I was honestly disappointed. There really is not an Irish feel, when I walked in they were playing country music (granted it was still very early, and they did switch to some Flogging Molly later on) and the fish and chips left a lot to be desired. The fish was completely flavorless but honestly the chips were amazing! They do have an outstanding selection of bourbon though, so if you like good bourbon and you only want some cocktails with more of a dive bar like feel, this would be your place. We ordered the Scotch Egg to start, which was very good. My husbands grandma used to make them, but we haven't had them since she passed so it was nice to have one again. I have tried it twice since 2020, and the menu- which hasn't changed much in name- is WAY worse in quality. Tonite I thought what the heck- it's been over a year- I'll give it a try again.... I got one 1/4" thick slab of tilapia the size of a steak, breaded in Panko and immersed into the french fry grease. Fish? Shoe leather? I couldn't tell due to the breading. It was perched on top of similarly hard, overcooked, inedible french fries. Awful. Worst fish n chips ever, and I've eaten in some sketchy English pubs. My husband and I have been taking the opportunity on kidless date night to restaurant hop. On last night's excursion we chose to visit Alchemy. It came up in my suggested feed and looked to have good reviews. Its an unassuming bar in OCC. Kind of dark and homey iside. We were greeted upon entry and seated. The waitress was not very friendly but took our order promptly. We ordered the Dragon egg (Scottish egg with spicy sausage and quail egg) and the Irish Potato skins (Potato skin with corned beef and cheese) Both were very good. The corned beef was very tender. I ordered the Tangerine cream beer and it tasted just like it sounds. Delightful. Out of the 3 places we visited on this night however, this place came in last. Alchemy is a tiny gem in the historic district of Colorado Springs. During the day a restaurant at night it appeared to be a bar. We were there fairly early as the time difference was throwing us off a bit so lunch came around 11:00. I opted for a healthy salad which was a delicious decision. The dressing was out of this world. Rose aka: Louise chose the Ruben in which I did try. They make their own sauerkraut. I would more than likely go back if ever in the area again. Visiting from Texas we came down for the day from cripple creek. We stopped for lunch at Alchemy. From a great bartender to amazing food, the Brie plate is fire, this place was amazing. This place felt like we were entering an Irish Pub, very small and cozy. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. We were seated out back on the patio, we sat down and perused the menu and ordered a smorgasbord of different dishes to see what was offered. We ordered the Scotch egg, Irish onion soup, beer cheese soup, cheese curds and Ruben rolls. We also grabbed my husband a Crystal marTEAni. The drink came out first, now, I personally love the sweet stuff and don't enjoy the taste of alcohol, this is not the case for most people who prefer the heavy pour. This drink was strong! My husband loved it, although you missed some of the flavors because of the strength of the alcohol. The cheese curds which I was most excited about came next, these babies are breaded with potato chips and dill, they are served with a spicy ranch. They were perfect, crisp, tart, creamy and spicy all in one bite, definitely the highlight of the meal! The scotch egg came out with everything else and all together, this one was a miss. Not much flavor and the egg didn't have the soft runny center we were expecting. The beer cheese soup, which is one of my favorite things, was also a miss. It boasted andouille sausage, Guinness beer and everything that makes a perfect beer cheese soup but these flavors were overtaken by the scorched flavor from the soup burning in the pan. The Irish onion soup is served in a pretzel bowl with Muenster cheese, but the soup itself didn't have the slow simmered strength of flavor that a typical onion soup has. To finish off, we had Rueben rolls which are similar to egg rolls with Rueben filling, these too were missing taste but I will say, the Thousand Island was some of the best that I have had-tasted homemade and fresh. This was a cool spot, but like so many other restaurants COVID hit them hard on staffing, a little more staff with the ability to monitor quality would be amplify the offerings here. read more

On a cold drizzly day we found this Cozy old rustic hole in the wall Irish pub. What a delight. Service was excellent, the waitress was friendly and cute and remembered all our orders without writing down on paper. The lamb green chile dish was awesome, the lamb melted in your mouth, it had a nice kick to it. The potato bliss soup with bacon and scallions was a big hit at our table. The winter biss salad with maple pumpkin vinaigrette dressing was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend this place if you are ever in old Colorado city. read more

We visited Alchemy for the lunch portion of our tour with Pikes Peak Bike Tours. Lunch was included and we were allowed to pre-order a lunch item from the menu. My husband and I both picked the BLT. It was delicious, but more exciting for us, was the British flair at Alchemy. My husband is from England and it truly felt like we were eating in a British pub. The French fries were thick-cut like British chips, and the bacon in the sandwich was English-style bacon. We also saw that my husband's favorite food- Scotch Eggs, was on the menu, but unfortunately a customer before us purchased the last one. We will have to return! This is a super cool pub in Old Colorado City. I did not try the food so I cannot speak to their fare but I did have a cocktail and it was super good. Also, they have a lovely garden patio in the back and when we went they had a super talented cover artist playing jams for the crowd. He was great.
