If I could give this place zero stars I would. The cashier who must've been injured also injured her customer service. I didn't realize the carts were "rotating", and since I didn't use a cart-- I was SOL. She didn't ask if I wanted to purchase a bag until after I paid and had no cash and now no cart. Thank goodness for kindness of the people in line who offered me their cart since they brought a bag. It was my first time at Aldi and my last! However, Aldi this location in Laguna woods is probably frequented by the seniors who live in the area, they do not deserve your employees s*#ty attitude (injured or not) so fire her and find someone who is happy to have a job! read more

I've have been shopping at Aldi ever since the store opened. The Fruit and Vegetables are wonderful. Nice packaged and super fresh, no wilted or spoiled Products. Meat department could use a little more variety but meat is fresh and tastes delicious. The store is clean and well stocked. Prices are affordable so I can always buy a couple of extras. Customers have to adjust to a little bit of different checkout practice, you have to bag your own groceries take them to your car yourself and return your shopping cart if you want your quarter back. The way Aldi does business works for most of Europe, so Americans if they want to save money have to get used to it. Thank you Aldi for your stores allover in America, No complaints here. read more

Beware the Homeless who camp out at the Aldi Center in Laguna Woods. They bullied me when I walked by. Tried to call Aldi but their brilliant business plan does not provide for anyone to answer the damn phone (!). Laguna Woods residents and others need to rise up against a homeless takeover here. This isn't LA! Stater has better control over this homeless situation and I haven't seen any at Stater for years. Patronize Stater if Aldi doesn't want to be a good neighbor. One of my favorite aldi's I've been to it's usually pretty stocked & clean. They always have great seasonal items in the middle rows as well as household items that prices can't be beat elsewhere. The store reminds me of a better grocery version of a big lots because prices are low and items are always pretty random. There's usually only one cashier ringing up though that's probably why I knocked down a star because if you know aldi- there fairly small in comparison to other large super markets but besides that I'll take the drive to this location to avoid the ralphs around the corner from time to time. Place is a joke. You have to pay a quarter to get a shopping cart which apparently you get back when you return the cart. What idiot thought this would be a good customer service experience? We didn't have a quarter (who does these days??) so had to go get change just to get a cart. Their selection was just weird and very limited. This is like the Spirit Airlines of grocery stores. The checkout clerks were rude and obviously could give a s--- about actually helping you. Most were self-checkout. Our checker just started rapidly scanning our items and when I asked for bags he acted like I'm the idiot for not having noticed that the paper bags were underneath the stand. You also have to bag everything yourself in these cheap paper bags (both tore when we took them out of the trunk). I enjoy Aldi. I love the savings and generally appreciate the quality of the items they sell. This particular location is a bit of a toss up though. It's located in the midst of Laguna Woods. If you know about Laguna Woods, then you will understand that there is a large elderly population that lives in this area. Be prepared to be patient in parking and shopping. The store is OK as far as Aldis go. They frequently will be out of stock of staple items and sometimes take weeks to get it back in stock. The employees are usually friendly if approached, but there are some that seem bothered to even be checking you out at the register and just throw your fragile items like avocados and chips into the cart. If shopping here, remember to bring your patience, kindness, and of course a quarter for the cart. read more

Thumbs down for ordering online and picking up order!...Ok I know this is a discount supermarket and with that said I understand that in order to pass savings down to their customers they skimp on things like the ability to reach out to customers. That means no way of getting in touch with anyone at the store in case an issue should arise. Furthermore Aldi uses Instacart employees to pick up online orders either to have them fulfilled for pick up or deliver. I placed an order before a busy holiday weekend (1st mistake) and was told I would receive an SMS message when my order was ready for pickup. Soon after placing the online order and paying $340.00 for the groceries I received a text saying my order was going to be delayed because the store was short of help. I understood hence this is before a big holiday weekend and the delay is comprehensible however the text also said I would soon receive another text when the order would be ready for pickup. I waited and waited and then I went on Instacart app to see if and when the order would be ready. This is 4 hours after the last text and the store closed that night at 8pm. Its about 6pm at this point. I was getting concerned with the time because I live kinda far from Aldi and I have to travel on a busy freeway (the 5) which usually gets bogged down with traffic jams and I have a rather large order to pick up. The response from Instacart app is my order is now ready for pick up and to arrive before 8pm. Its about 7pm at this point. I grab my keys head out the door and arrive to the Aldi pick up area in about another 20 minutes. I try to use the instacart app as instructed to let the store know I am there and the button for the app does not light up nor work. I figure I am going to have to go in and show them my ID anyway because I ordered some alcohol when I placed the online order. I go in Aldi and there is only one guy/clerk working a cash register and he has a long line of customers. He was friendly and acknowledged my presence. I explained to him I was there to pick up an online order and he called the manager to help me. Cut to the chase.... she says, "We never got your order and there is nothing here for you to pick up." Great! Furthermore, she says, "maybe tomorrow...."?? Well there was no tomorrow text from instacart or Aldi, nor 3 days after that. I called instacart and told them and they said, "Oh there must have been a glitch in the system." A glitch? Maybe...But somehow Aldi was able to take my money in that 'glitch'. Finally going around and around with these two companies I was able to get a full refund. But no sorries for wasting my time and fuel with either the store or the app! Instacart offered me a $5 coupon which never was loaded and when brought to Aldis attention they just tried to pass the buck off on Instacart. Whatever! Glad I got my $340.00 back. And moral of the story... don't place big orders before busy holiday weekends! read more

Although I am a fussy curmudgeon I have changed my mind about this store. I am shocked at having to pay for the use of a shopping cart although I understand why they have this inconvenience. And today I actually checked out a few items and the checker explained that I would get my money back somehow when I returned the cart. And many of the vegetable bins were in stocked or sold out. And while I wasn't super impressed by many of the prices when I got home I realized that the tomatoes I bought were the best ones I have ever gotten from a supermarket and the lettuce was also. Yes, you may say I can get similar or maybe even better produce at a farmers market but I'm not gonna get it for the same price and I'm also not going to get up early enough to ever get to one, lol. This made Aldi's a superstar in my mind and I will return with my own bags or quarters to put in the cart machine. My husband and I had heard about Aldi, both negative and positive opinions. Once the coupons arrived in the mail ($5 off of $25), we knew our opportunity had arisen to try out the new store in town. A few days after the Grand Opening had passed, we drove into the parking lot in the early evening and quickly found a good parking spot. An attendant was standing by the shopping carts explaining how their system worked: the customer placed a quarter inside a slot on the shopping cart to be able to bring it into the store. Once the trolley was returned to the correct spot, the quarter would be retrieved. Our friend had informed us of the quarter situation a year ago, so we knew to be prepared and brought out the coin. As we headed inside, we noticed very few people (an off peak time), and the aisles seemed wide enough for our wide (LOL) bodies (at least at that time in the evening, when not many customers were around). The two of us scanned the aisle and spotted plenty of gluten free, High Fructose Corn Syrup Free products. Products like mini bagels and orange juice tempted my phat (fat LOL) bottom, and we happily started placing food in our cart. There were meat and beef and dairy products also. Aldi's had cold cuts, hams, and salami, to name some of their meats. I was sure in the writing of my review that there were plenty of other categories of food, but I couldn't remember. Our trip had to be short to make time for our cats. The most exciting part of our shopping excursion was finding a cat house (small) that we knew was perfect for our feline. With the coupon used, and the cashier friendly, the two shoppers walked out happy. read more

Aldi recently opened in Laguna Hills. My friend drove me here so I could pick up some milk and other essentials. I'd been meaning to check it out for a while now but I usually don't drive that far for groceries. Pricing is similar to Food-4-Less. It's actually set up similarly. It's got the basics and nothing too fancy. They do have some brand name items but it's mostly cheaper generics. We tried to grab a shopping cart but apparently you have to pay a quarter to rent one. I recently had foot surgery so I borrowed one of the electric shopping carts (free). Someone almost said something to me because I'm not elderly, but then they saw my bandaged foot and my friend carrying my crutches, so they thought better of it. They do have cashiers here so you don't have to check yourself out and the cashier was nice enough to put my items back in my cart after I was done paying. Not too shabby. read more

I'm so glad to have a brand new Aldi so close to home! The prices are amazing, we really love their cheeses and weekly specials. Service is great, the staff is very friendly and efficient. This is an awesome discount store with great quality. After checking out the Aldi in Santa Ana area I checked this laguna hills/lake forest one. At first I got confused and ended up entering Dollar Tree next door. Lol well, I bought some dollar ones there. I was like, wait, is Dollar store same as Aldi's? Turned out the color of facade is very similar and it's really confusing which one's which. I entered to check out groceries and wow I found Stumptown cold brew coffee at 3 dollar. That's a deal, guys. Same product is sold at 5 bucks in Wholefoods. I got some prepared sushi Maki for 6 bucks. They had 3 dollar one too but 6 dollar seemed better. 3 dollar one is basically what you pay 5 bucks at high school cafeteria. I checked the milk expiration. This one has 17 days left. Compared to the Santa Ana ones 11 days left one, 17 days seems reasonable to finish 1 gallon of milk. I got a prepared cesar salad w chicken for 2.79, about the same price as Walmart's. Got a meat sauce for spaghetti that I'm gonna cook later for 1.34 for 24oz jar. This one had two check out clerks. Pretty good parking size as well. Most of the items were off brand and the prices were low. I picked up a coffee creamer, and I was not paying attention when the cashier was scanning it. While I was walking out and I look at the receipt and noticed the price was higher than the tag on the shelf. I took a picture of it and return to the cashier. The young man promptly returned the money of the creamer and the coffee creamer is still mine to keep. I got the coffee creamer for free, I did not expect that. I love the selection and the prices. I don't love the atmosphere. The employees are very snippy. I wasn't in a check out lane or facing a check out stand and the manager was yelling specifically to me making sure I noticed him, several times, that his lane was closed. And then yelled out at another woman nearby. Rest of staff seem stressed as well. I was told to move out of they way by the checker before I could even get my receipt. Just saying... you get more bees with honey. I know times are rough. The people you are helping might be just as short staff as you. As mentioned, right next to leisure world. Seriously, you can't find a way to automate this? Found none of the above, however, in the Aldi's "Hot" section they have lawn fertilizer. Apparently, lawn fertilizer is the hot new trend at Aldi's. The rest of the section was stacked in such a disorganized manner it resembled the "As seen on TV Crap" section in a CVS. Maybe it's the lighting but there's nothing that stood out and looked appealing with an ambiance that resembled the sad last days of Fresh & Easy. Produce has gone down hill. I have bought bananas that never ripened. I bought 20 avocados on Sunday night for a taco Tuesday event. I had to throw 6 away, was able to salvage 4. So there aren't many Aldi's here in SoCal. I was looking for some item Flavcity had recommended and these wooden serving boards I saw on instagram but I had no such luck. Parking lot is very spacious but the store itself was not very stocked. The shelves in a few rows were pretty bare. I didn't find the keto cookies or ice cream or any of the broth soup. This was my first visit and I went with an open mind. Not impressed. The cart system is intended to solve the problem with missing carts but the customer is being wrongly penalized. Carts are chained, a quarter (returnable?) will allow you to use one. Did not find virtually anything on my grocery list. Check out staff were rude about a cart issue. Normally I love ALDIs but at this location, when you don't have a cart the cashier puts all your items into a cart and then proceeds to the next customer and puts their items in the same cart while you both try to pull your items out of the same cart. At other locations they let you push the cart away and bag it so long as you return it afterwards. Maybe the cashier was just being lazy to grab another cart for the next customer. read more

Killer deals here! Plenty of options and love the deli side of the store to make lunches. The aisles are wide and clean. There isn't a ton of variety of the same item but that's how you get so much stuff in a small space. It's fun to check out the Aldi deals aisle that are at amazing prices. My expectations was too high... All the commercials that were on FB and reading the cool history about it.... Grand opening day, I did not go. Line was wrapped around the store. I went grand opening weekend on a Sunday. Still a line. They couldn't let everyone in. Carts were free that day. I was in line to get in a grocery store. Let that sink in for a bit.... Why was there a line? Well the store is not that big! Fire code. Inventory looked pretty low and sad. Lots of aisles filled with knick knacks, "seen on TV gadget and toys." Why did I come here? I had a coupon. 5bucks off when you spend 20bucks. Carne Asada meat was on sale. Picked up a few packages. Tried their off brand cereal and off brand diet cola. And a few fruits. The meat was horrible! Cut way too thick. Carne Asada flank steak is usually cut thin so it cooks fast and is nice and soft.... Well it sucked. No butcher here folks. Pre packaged and ready to go! I guess I got spoiled at Staters. Their cereal was okay. Diet cola, ergh, it was bad as Shasta! Not coming back. Pay for the carts. Bag your own. Quality is bad. Located at Laguna Woods where the cliental will expect more customer service. Instead it's more do it yourself and get out with bad quality meats.
