I also like the very spacious layout of this spot, with lots of room to casually browse and enjoy the shopping experience. I'm not necessarily sure if this is a good or bad thing (similar to Woodman's) where you know you can get everything you need to buy here, but at the same time the store might feel too large (the Northbrook location I think has a similar amount of options, but the way it's arranged makes it not seem as overwhelming). The store overall is clean with plenty of attractive looking displays. The selection is outstanding and prices are competitive. Checkout is quick and efficient as well.

It is my assumption there are locals that seek this store in the hopes of finding deals. However, I can tell you from my own shopping, much of this is regularly priced. Regarding selections; they carry so many varieties of products that it could be known as a junior Wal-Mart store. There is much to look through if you don't mind the mess. Items such as personal products, swimming attire for children, household products, some toys, random clothing, glassware, cutlery, garden gimmicks and more. The store is disorderly and disorganized. I feel sorry for store employees that (probably) spend their whole days straightening products. Imagine a store that went through an earthquake. That's what it looks like. Strange occurrence: I asked for a price check and the counter-person pulled out a phone to scan the barcode. Here's the oddity. She could have scanned it at her register but didn't. Instead using an app on a smartphone. Was it a Dollar general app or a general barcode scanning application. If the latter, this means they are charging regular pricing on items found at a Dollar store alternative. That's deceptive marketing.

Unfortunately, I have witnessed a female store manager publicly berating employees on two separate occasions, which completely ruined my shopping experience. Incident 1: Monday, July 6, 2026 While waiting in the checkout line, I witnessed this manager speaking in a very loud, aggressive, and unprofessional tone to a young male employee. She was shouting that she was the manager, that "what she says goes," and told him she did not want to see him outside anymore. Incident 2: June 2026 Last month, I witnessed the same manager shouting down a grocery aisle at an employee, loudly warning them that they "better not be on the telephone." While I understand that employees require guidance and correction, doing so publicly in a loud, demeaning manner is entirely inappropriate. Constructive criticism and disciplinary actions should be conducted privately, not in front of a store full of customers. This behavior creates a hostile atmosphere and reflects poorly on the Jewel-Osco brand. I request that corporate leadership look into this matter and ensure this manager is coached on professional leadership practices.
