Just moved to the desert, and Aldi was recommended as a go-to place for groceries. Ladies in the neighborhood suggested I look at the adds that come through on a weekly basis, so I did. And, some suggested Aldi. Aldi's had lamb on special last week.Supposed to be $5.99 a pound. Bought 2 pounds and stupid me did not pay attention at check out. I was charged $20.00 for something I should have been charged $12.00 for. OK.....get the meat home and on the back of the package, all poundage, price, etc., is crossed out in sharpie. And, I could tell it was previously frozen because of the icy particles inside the meat when I opened it to marinate it. Stupid me, again, decides to trust Aldi, marinate, and BBQ the "lamb" piece without going for the refund. (I was desperately hungry for meat!). THIS WAS NOT LAMB! I know lamb, and this was NOT LAMB! IT WAS A PIECE OF CHEAP BEEF ROAST THAT I PAID $20 FOR! Anyway, needless to say, I will not be returning to Aldi. (As a sidenote....I have cut the meat up into serving sizes for my dogs so I can mix it into their food. Meat did not go to waste). read more

I will not return to this Aldi's because of the rude outside employee by the shopping carts and the inside cashier. Outside employee, did not have a MASK, plus there was not cleaning bottle or cleaning paper or cloth towels. There was zero hand sanitizer inside either. I attempted to retrieve a shopping cart and the person took over 5 minutes rearranging the carts. Right to the Middle, then Left to the Right. I ask her after 5 minutes "May I get a cart'? I was told to back away. ( I was 12 feet away from her'. EIGHT minutes later, I said " You are rude, to keep me standing for so long'. ' I just recovered from a broken hip'. I then walked into the store. I purchased very little inside, without a cart. I informed the Cashier of what had occurred. The cashier, Said this, " you called the outside employee LEWD'. I said no, I said 'RUDE'. How would the Cashier know this? The employee ran inside and lied about what rude she was. Rude / Lewd. I will not return to this location. The employees, do not give a crap about their customers. Please drive to the other 2 locations, so your hip does not hurt while waiting for a shopping cart. I am so upset and pissed off, and I am the calmest, most patient person I know. STAY AWAY......... Manager, ask your employees to treat your customers like humans and not a beast. read more

Today was the Aldi soft opening (that is a silent opening, before the grand opening). The store was quiet, and for that I am thankful we shopped today. Aldi has a limited menu of seasonal items, and sundries (toilet paper, laundry detergent). To round out your shopping needs, there is a Big Box store across the street. Get the Add on line. Each week a new meat/poultry goes on sale. Today I bought a top sirloin for $2.99 a pound. Excellent price. I bought a ham for 99 cents a pound. That ham is in my oven right now for tonight's dinner, and it smells AWESOME! The prices on produce is excellent as well. I bought a Papya, radish, red onion, cucumber, and I am happy with the price and quality. Aldi has a decent selection of cheeses, dips such as spinach artichoke, and prepared chicken salad, and chilled olives. All in all, I enjoyed my shopping experience at Aldi today. I'm looking forward to a long relationship with Aldi..after the crazy grand opening. I nearly forgot. Aldi obviously cares about its employees. As a FORMER big box (re: Wal Mart) the cashiers here are SITTING on a REAL chair! Now that's a place I could work at. I've never understood why being a cashier means you STAND for hours at a time, in one position, on a hard floor. I'll bet Aldi doesn't have employees who go out on disability for back problems. After I wrote this review and posted it to my FB a donate to Aldi link appeared on my FB page. Maybe they are raining money to buy some masks for their employees now. Read this post. Shame on this company. I went in last observing the latest mandate by the county of San Bernardino staring that all people that are Leaving their homes are required to wear masks or an appropriate facial covering to protect each other during the current COVID-19 pandemic. This county mandate also indicated that any employees of essential businesses are also mandate to wear masks. I saw two of the three employees working without masks. This is a direct violation of the mandate and also shows that management and employees have no interest in keeping me safe while I am shopping at this establishment. As such, not only will in not shop at ANY Aldi during this national emergence...but I will NEVER grace another Aldi going forward. Best value for your money! I can get a cart load of groceries for less than $150. That's important for a family of five. I only gave it four stars because the produce lacks freshness and they have a limited selection. I get basics like bananas, peppers, potatoes, onions and tomatoes. But if you want fresh leafy greens or other colorful fruits go to Ralph's. read more

We made a special trip to Aldi early on July 5 to take advantage of the rack of lamb sale, after not being able to get a cart, due to not having any change to make a 25 cent deposit, we found there was no lamb in stock. We shop at Aldis a lot. There are 3 stores in the area, this one is terrible. They do not seem to have a lot of what the other stores have. The biggest issue though, is they don't honor the double guarantee. Bought some ribs, opened them the next day and they smelled terrible. The package had the double guarantee printed on it so it was an Aldis product that qualifies for it, but the manager said "we don't have to honor that". I don't know how 1 location can not have to honor something that is advertised by the company (and I have not seen anything saying something like "at participating locations".) So we try to wait and go to the one in Palm Desert or La Quinta which is infinitely better than this location read more

While it can't compete with Ralph's and Jensen's in term of selection or style, it's got them beat on price, and often on quality as well. Lots of private-label and frozen convenience options make Aldi seem more like a slightly (but only slightly) downmarket Trader Joe's. The frozen seafood and the bakery goods are particularly good values, and there's a decent wine selection. Yeah, you have to lend them a quarter to use their shopping carts, and you have to pack your own groceries, but if that's your beef, you don't deserve to be there anyway. Grow up. read more

Aldi's is fine but not this location. I help a 77-year-old woman get groceries. She wanted to go to Aldi. The line extended down an aisle to checkout which is fine, it's COVID, safety, please. I went to another aisle to pick up things she had forgotten. While the older woman was in line this younger couple came and T boned the older woman's cart and asked if this was the line, she said it was. They stayed in their T Bone position. When the line advanced, the older woman attempted to move her cart forward and the cart was stuck on an aisle and she kept trying to push it forward but could not. The woman who was T boing her began to verbally assault this 5 foot older woman, SCREAMING so the whole store could hear, throwing the F-bomb and the C-word and telling her she was many insulting expletives, including "this is COVID F you stay away from me". All the while, this younger woman was the one who came and T boned the older woman's cart getting uncomfortably close, to begin with, now spitting and screaming at her. The older woman, in tears, I ran over and took over the cart and advanced in line and NOT ONE employee, and there were MANY in the aisles stocking and at the front helped, said a word or removed the irate woman. There needs to be security or a corporate policy on how to remove dangerous and violent customers. I will NEVER go to Aldi's again. You have lost loyal customers and shame on the employees for not speaking up and speaking out against a violent verbal assault. Train your employees better on how to deal with these types of situations and maybe find some with some stronger moral character. read more

I love Aldi but it's totally hit or miss. By all means do NOT buy the Breamer Salisbury Steak with gravy. The most disgusting thing I've purchased in years. I love Aldi's they have great prices on produce milk eggs bread chicken salmon as well as a number of dairy items and even dog food .They are owned by Trader Joe's and carry products that you don't see sometimes in the big chain stores . I don't mind bagging my own groceries if I'm going to save substantially their prices are much lower then any markets in the area except for Food 4 Less. I love Aldi! This location is great if you need to run errands at the neighboring stores. This location is always fully stocked and easy to shop. The only negative is that sometimes you have to really look at the vegetables to make sure they are still good but that's like anywhere you go. read more

F Y I.....Aldi does not give rain checks. Their recent ad had boneless skinless chicken breasts for $1.49 lb. Great price, but only when in stock. I went in Saturday around 1:00 p.m. only to learn they were out and not getting anymore in! Mgr said that is there policy...end of story. Also, if you go in there, before you buy any spaghetti/macaroni, try to figure where it is from......their packaging may have ITALY on front of label, but look closer to see if you can find where it was made. I had to really squint at the small print on back to see Made in Mexico! After taking the store tour before the opening yesterday, and returning today for their "soft" opening, I am indeed an ALDI fan, and so happy that they are here in Palm Springs. Finally an alternative to either shopping at the behemoth big W or paying ridiculous prices at Vons and Ralphs, we have a great store that truly focuses on everyday needs and incredibly reasonable prices. Examples: Produce: Asparagus $1.29, Bananas 39 cents, mushrooms 99 cents (not a misprint!), cilantro for a quarter, Idaho bakers 39 cents a pound, Beefsteak tomatoes 79 cents a pound . Dairy: 2% milk $1.35 a half gallon, cashew milk (my fave) 2.49, Butter 1.99 a pound (again not a misprint). Strawberry Special K type cereal $2.29 for a nice sized box. And Italian tomatoes for 55 cents a can. I almost felt like it was a throwback to 1980. They have done things so wisely to bring prices down. Carts cost 25 cents but the quarter is returned when you return the cart to the front of the store. No more dings on my car from runaway grocery carts. Of course we are in California, so you bring your own bag, or buy one for a dime. You bag your own groceries, but clerk rings them up. You bag in a central bagging area which is very convenient. They generally carry only one brand item, and it is usually there private label (like Trader Joes). More about Trader Joes later. They take all credit, debit and EBT cards like Cal Fresh. If you love chocolate like me, there is an abundance on Belgian, German, etc. chocolates that are such a bargain. They are deeeeeeeeelicious. How do I know that so soon after leaving the market? Let's say one bar didn't make it from the car to home before being thoroughly sampled. Oh yumm. Now about Trader Joes. It is owned by the same parent company. An inspired company from Germany that is going to set Vons, Ralphs and Albertsons on it's heels, not to mention give the Big W a deserved kick in the pants. Who walks around with change in their pockets? Not I, so I was unable to get a shopping cart. I would have bought a lot more if I could have gotten a cart. Worse, there are no handbaskets! So, without a quarter you are restricted to what you can carry. The least they could have done was put a change-making machine near the carts. The aisles are wide and the place is clean. I noticed that their bags of fresh kale do not indicate the weight, which is not legal. The shelf label says they are 12 ounces. The worst experience came at checkout. I only had two items to bag, but the store provides no space for bagging. There is no counter space at all past the scanner. The cashier had to let my stuff sit on her scanner while I bagged it. I prefer Aldi, their prices are better than the super markets, and they have several products much lower in price, some better than Costco. It is my first choice, I wish one was closer than 12 miles. All of their prices are less than the big 3 super markets. Example is Salmon $8 a pound. Been shopping Aldi since they opened. Knew about the store from visits to Australia. I have always highly recommended it for good quality and good prices but not necessarily the widest selection. Recently they're out of so much. I go about once a week and for 3 weeks they've been out of peanut butter. Not the end of the world. Now they're out of regular salted butter for 2 weeks. Just went in on Friday (Black Friday, 11/25). Still out of peanut butter, butter and now 1/2 gal. 2% milk! The checker always asks if I found everything I wanted. Usually, they'll just say, Sorry, and that's that! This time she said it wasn't their fault if the supplier didn't fill the order and maybe I should try other stores in the area. It wasn't meant as a helpful suggestion. I'm not thin-skinned but she was really unpleasant about it. I'm not used to being told to shop somewhere else by an employee because I answered her question honestly. (If the manager is interested, she was the only checker open and was at the register farthest from the front door at about 10:00AM. She could use some training in customer service). As with any other Palm Springs store, you should bring your own bags. And FYI for those people that think it is the store's fault that bags are no longer free, it is a city rule, so stop blaming the stores! Yes, you must bag your own groceries, but that is the main reason that their prices are so low. Their cashiers seem very happy to work there and the store looks very clean. We LOVE Aldi, however will not go back into this location because of a very rude employee. This young petite check out girl had an attitude problem with my husband and I when we went to check out yesterday. I had to return an item which she was nasty, then she threw our groceries into the basket. She either needs to be thankful she has a job or leave. Sooooooooo, I've gone buy groceries this morning with Aldi, they did have most of the stuff that my fiancé and I needed, but didn't at the same time. Not only that, while I was looking around, I found a bag of roasted and salted seeds that were SPOILED! I ended up giving it to one of the worker just in case somebody bought them by accident and wasted their money on something that they didn't even noticed was spoiled. Not only that, we bought a bag of the frank chicken sausages and I DID NOT NOTICE IT WAS OPENED UNTIL MY FIANCE AND I WERE PACKING UP OUR STUFF INTO THE CAR AFTER WE PAID!!!!! This store REALLY needs to check for their products and check EVERYTHING because I HAD TO TELL THEM TWICE ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTS, one of them was that I found a bag of food spoiled and a bag of sausage tampered with. I love this place. The selection of cheese is particularly great and reasonable. I like the price of their cured meat and pizza as well. I bought a turkey here for Thanksgiving for $10. A weekly go-to store for good products and values was marred this evening, Friday, July 23, 2021 at 7pm. Whoever was charged with cleaning restrooms clearly needs to let someone who appreciates employment take his place. A 90 year woman who was shopping urgently needed to use the restroom. The women's restroom was being cleaned but the men's was vacant. The mere suggestion that she quickly use the men's restroom was treated with such utter disgust that clearly this person no longer has a mother, or hates her. The way this customer was treated was appalling. "Just hold it until I'm finished, can't you read the sign," was the reply. Oh, and the mask? What mask. Aldi can do better. Its not the pay, its the ungrateful attitude of entitled brats. I hope this reaches the deepest cracks of the organization. No humanity. Not like there aren't infinitely better stores to shop at. Definitely worth a visit for weekly specials. Recently I got high quality avocados, cucumbers and top sirloin steaks at rock bottom prices. I always end up finding many other unique and tasty items. I really enjoyed going to Aldi until last week when I became extremely sick from eating RioBlanco black seedless grapes. It took me a day to figure it out but it was the grapes. I am sensitive to formaldehyde and grapes do have a natural level of 0.22ppm - testing these grapes on a calibrated meter showed a shocking 5.00ppm. I did send a message to Aldi and the insurance company out of Des Moines IA called back and took my statement. Seems this batch left the grower from Mexico mid May - yes 20 days earlier. That's a long time for grapes to stay fresh unless they are washed and or coated in formaldehyde. I never thought of fresh produce being so high in a Prop65 chemical. The insurance lady made it clear I have been the only person ever to complain - she did not confirm or deny the use of formaldehyde. Also for the record I did not ask for any compensation or even the cost of the grapes refunded. I just wanted to know how it happened. 5 days later we went back to the store and the exact same batch was still there looking fresh as before. Formaldehyde is on the Prop65 list of cancer causing chemicals. To give a grape the ability to stay fresh for weeks is not natural. Formaldehyde for most will show little affects, but in the long run when someone is diagnosed with cancer - is anyone really going to look back and say - "well I did eat those grapes." Ever since Fresh and Easy closed down I was looking for a new permanent store, Aldi's has replaced F&E and even topped it! I can do my entire week's worth of shopping here for a great price. I usually spend about $55 dollars for an entire week's worth of healhy foods + a bottle of great wine. The check out service is also great, you can tell the cashiers work fast to get people in and out, I typically spend only 15 minutes getting all my stuff and paying. read more

While are used to sing the praises of this supermarket, recently the staff has been inconsiderate and forgetful of who is the client. At my recent visit the grocery carts were stuck together and when I went in to tell the manager, I received a lecture on how to use the carts by inserting a quarter. This not my first time to the fair and I am well aware of the quarter in the cart process. I was not the only person who was unable to insert a quarter nor pull the carts apart. Even the manager had to struggle with the carts. This not the first time the staff has made for a bad experience at this store.
