Great products and you can't beat the prices on eggs, milk, bread, cheese, gourmet pasta, etc. so tired of paying the inflated prices at Ralph's and Von's. It is clean and the employees are friendly. If putting a quarter in the cart (which you get back when you return the cart) and bagging our own groceries helps cuts costs on their overhead so we pay less, I am all for it! I will admit my wife and I had negative thoughts before going into the store. I read the Yelp reviews prior for the Santa Clarita and Simi Valley store and they were not exactly stellar. At Christmas the store concept was the topic of conversation at the dinner table and the consensus from family was it was a pretty good store. We visited today and found the store exceeded our expectations. The store was clean, the staff friendly and the selection of items good enough. Most importantly, the prices on the items we bought were dirt cheap. For example, dozen large eggs were .59, asparagus .50, whipped cream cheese $1.69 for a tub, gala apples .69 lb, and berries (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries) .50 a package. My wife was also pleased to find lots of gluten free choices that other stores do not carry. Refrigerated beef and chicken are expensive, but most everything is value priced. Aldi has brands we never heard of and other reviewers complain of this. Big deal, because most off brand products come out of the same factories as name brand items. Off brand items don't bother us because the quality is usually identical to the known brands. We regularly buy generic anyway to cut down on our food bills. The stupid comments about the cart deposit is beyond lame. My wife and I have no problem with depositing a quarter into the cart. We are the ones that return our carts at other stores, while people leave them strewn about the parking lot. I have had more than one car ding over the years from people who leave their carts wherever they please, with them eventually rolling into my car door. Aldi's has an interesting checkout system where the checker rings up your items and puts them back into the cart for you to bag at a bagging station about 10 feet away. Our checker Sasha was so fast in checking out I see why they use this system. If we were bagging them as she rung them up we would slow down the line. We are Food4Less shoppers and we are familiar with bagging our groceries. The nice thing about Aldi's is we don't have to rush to get our items loaded before the next person's groceries come down the belt. If you are looking for the full service supermarket experience then Aldi's is not for you. My wife and I are power shoppers and keep our family's food bill low by shopping sales and different stores. On a monthly basis we shop Sprouts, Food4Less, Costco, Sams Club, and Stater Brothers. We admit that Aldi's will not be our primary store, but it will make up a large percentage of our food purchases. read more

Prices are great. You can't find better pricing. Store is clean. Staff tends to be unfriendly. When they run a sale the newspaper doesn't say anything about limiting the quantities you buy. Often times when we arrive at the store they will have a handwritten sign saying "6 per customer". That's actually called "bait & switch". They lure the customer in the store with a great price and then say you can only buy so much. It's actually against the law in the state of California. It to put quantities limited in the newspaper ad. For that reason I'm giving them a two star rating. read more

Aldi's is the sh*t. Always has been. This new store is very clean and orderly with friendly employees. It is freezing in there, but nearly every Aldi I have been in is pretty cold. They had a lot of Aldi classics (take n bake pizzas, Clancy's, etc.) as well as a nice selection of good sized fruits and veggies. The complaints are by people who have either forgotten how Aldi works or have never been there. Yes, you put a quarter in to get a cart and then get it back after you put it away...it keeps the carts safe. No, they do not carry a lot of overpriced name brand bs. Who needs that junk? You are getting the same item just without a brand mascot plastered on the cover. I am so happy there is an Aldi close by me now! read more

I just wanted to leave a review to counter all of the negativity with Aldi's go to market. First of all, spend $100 at Aldi and then any other grocery chain in the SCV. I guarantee you'll get a lot more for your money at Aldi, not to mention good quality. You could go to WholeFoods but spend 2/3 times more easy. Second, the reason that the market is small (usually 10,000 square feet or less), the food is still in the boxes, there aren't service counters and very few employees is because all of that costs money. Aldi would rather pass along all of that savings to its consumers rather than have someone over pay for these "luxuries." I mean do you really care if it is left in the box or put on a shelf by an employee if it is a buck or two cheaper? It cracks me up how these Yelp trolls have such negative opinions about something without taking a single second to research why it may be that way! Oh and the reason for needing a quarter for a cart (in case you haven't figured it out by now) is so they don't have to pay someone to waste time rounding them up, hence passing along savings. But don't worry, for those that freak out about that just ask someone at the register and they'll gladly give you one!!!! read more

Went there for 2nd time yesterday, this time buying a big shopping cart full of groceries, last time it was just to check it out and walked out with a few items -- the canteloupe on sale was very fresh, prices were good so being in the area went back, there's a coupon in June flyer to get $10.00 off a $40.00 purchase, making the low prices even a better deal. Got some very fresh, thin-sliced pork chops, vegetables and fruit and German spaetzle and Jaffa cakes -- items that would cost a lot more at a place like Cost Plus World Market or other specialty stores, as others have said. Ditto their comments about few name brands on packaged goods, so far their knock-offs seem pretty good. It may not be where you find everything you want but what's there in the meat, deli and vegetable-fruits sections seems fresh because of the high volume they can buy in and all their stores. Only deducting a star because the young friend I was with, helping buy the groceries for as he just started out on his own, forgot to turn in the coupon but remembered as soon as he was done checking out but the cashier told him to bring it back another day, too late, he'd have to cancel everything and re-ring, made it sound like too much trouble or impossible. When I said that's ridiculous, the guy was just in line and hadn't even left the store, he called a manager over who took care of the refund in no time. Was the cashier new, or do you have to insist and look out for yourself if you want any customer service American chains offer as givens? IDK I'll find out, but overall a good value for what you get. Never mind the fuss about the carts, bring a quarter deposit -- it makes sense to cut down on employee time chasing them hundreds of years across the lot. At other stores upto half are off the premises and they have to pay employees to bring them back. I guess it could be a negative for elderly or disabled and IDK if you can request help to the car. read more

I've been shopping at Aldi since I lived in the Midwest, my hubby has shopped here since he was a kid as it is a large chain in Europe. Most people don't know, but the Aldi brothers are the same people that own Trader Joe's. So this is a more affordable version than TJ or Whole Foods. selection isn't huge, so if you're lucky than don't come here. But they do offer a lot of vegan, organic, and gluten free options. My husband likes this place for their German selection of brands. Produce is always fresh. read more

I was very pleased with there overall selection. The vegetables were ice nice and crisp. The meat was on par with other markets but there mark downs were superior. I also enjoyed that they sell cookware and owner house hold necessities. I would have given them five stars however they the limited staff and relatively long line prevented that. read more

This is fine for what it is. I've been to the Palmdale location and this location seems a lot bigger. It also seems more expensive to me. The selection is much better though. Their return policy is amazing. When you return a product you don't like, they refund you and give you another product for free. Some of the best deals are Powdered sugar( 1.29 for 2lbs), marshmallows( 59 cents). cheeses( various prices). they also have a lot of "specials" so look for those. read more

I was so excited when I heard Aldi was opening a store in Santa Clarita. Having shopped Aldi in Europe and on the East Coast, I had become a fan! Yesterday was my first visit to the new store. Hubby and I were greeted by a very friendly lady who welcomed us and was there to help with the cart process (super easy and I now have an Aldi quarter in my car at all times) and answer any questions. The store is larger than I thought it would be with plenty of aisle space. Very clean, bright, neat, well organized. The prices are amazing and can't be beat by anyone, even Wal-Mart (at least for the items we purchased). Came with a tentative list and was able to get at least 50% of the items on the list. None of the other items were things I absolutely had to have, but wanted to check out and comparison shop. I'll definitely be back as a regular Aldi shopper!!! read more

It's about time! I've shopped at Aldi in other places and was THRILLED to find that one has now opened in Santa Clarita! The store is clean and well organized and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I love that the quality of the "private label" food is as good as or superior to national brands with way better prices. If you're new to the Aldi experience, it may seem a bit odd. Just ask a friendly employee for help. Bagging your own groceries and returning your cart to get your quarter back is part of what helps keep the prices so low. I was really impressed by the amount of choices of healthy and organic foods. Aldi will definitely be my main grocery store! read more

I doscoverd Aldi while living in Germany, and when the first flyer came to my house i was really thirlled. Obviously we arent in germany, tho i was expecting a bit more of german products... But I'm glad lots of the porducts sold are from the US. THe local is ample clean, and the variety of products perfect with really affrodable prices, some are unbelievable. Friday morning, 10:30. First time here today. Still here in fact, even as I'm writing this. First off...the ATTITUDE! My wife went outside to get a cart. They're locked. She asked a worker how dies one GET a cart. "Do you have a quarter?" Huh? "Do I have a QUARTER? I'm not following..." "Yes. You heard me. Do you have a QUARTER?" Wait....WTF did this worker just ask my wife as if he's talking to a 4 year old???? Then a cashier, who overheard this convo, obviously realized my wife was dealing with a Neanderthal, stepped in and explained Aldi's cart 'system.' You put in a quarter to unlock a cart. When you return it to its place your quarter is returned. He then told my wife if she didn't HAVE a quarter he would give her one. So kudos to HIM...and that other idiot should be relegated to customer service classes. Still typing while she's shopping. So, it's later tonight. Shopping at Aldi is done. And in spite of the idiot who had no idea what customer service is all about, my wife says that their prices are pretty incredible. We did a bit of shopping today even though we were just going in for a look around. And while checking OUT...THAT cashier could not have been more gracious. So KUDOS there. We'll be back for sure. If my WIFE is hooked on a place, there HAS to be something there that attracts her attention. Prices did it this time. Let's see if they can hold the line in that area. I give this place one month maybe. It already looks like it's on life support anyway. When I popped in my quarter and went into the store I had high hopes, but was immediately underwhelmed. Basically, it looks like somebody took a Costco and put it in the drier. They have virtually nothing. There are no melons, no real produce of any worth, almost no paper goods, no real pet supplies, no real dairy or meats, and if you are looking for vegetarian options don't even bother parking. There were almost no customers in the store at 12:30 on a Saturday and one prick working the one open register. When I was done buying my four measly items and bagged my own groceries I looked for my keys in the shopping cart. They were no where to be found until I realized the prick at the register put somebody else's groceries in my cart. I got my keys and went to leave and was walking out when I realized that if I wanted my quarter back I needed to physically take the shopping cart outside, so I had to take the cart from the people still using it. What an absolutely stupid concept this shopping cart idea is. One that may go down in the annals of business history as a "Do you remember that store that.....ha ha ha.?" Perhaps from now on really bad business ideas will be referred to as "pulling an Aldi"..... read more

I'm only giving it two stars because of some of the really good prices on their non food items like the special buys and such and some of the prices on the food items. The first time I went in I was really impressed on how clean it looked and how organized it was...I was able to find a great bargain and was really excited about that, however, when it was time to check out I felt so belittled...the cashier Lea was so straight faced, rude and in a rush to get me out of there...no smiles, pushing carts around, and very impatient. I thought to myself maybe it's just that one cashier that was just having a bad day, so today I gave it another try. Nope, it seems like that's just how they all are (well I did observe one Male cashier be nice to another customer so maybe not all). This time around was even worse. Devan was our cashier and was not friendly at all, so many wrong things with her customer service I don't even know where to start. I wouldn't recommend shopping here, unless there is a real good bargain that's worth the bad treatment you get here. read more

This review is long overdue. I have been shopping at Aldi since they first open. I don't mind putting a quarter in to rent their shopping cart you get it back after you return it. You will not see shopping carts in the parking lot so you don't have to worry about car being dinged. They run this place very efficiently, from restocking to the scanner at the cash register which is fast. The more you shop and get to know their products the more you will love coming here. Their meat products are always fresh and they have organic products that costs way less than other groceries. There is no comparison to the 99 cents store or Food for Less because this store carries its own unique and quality products. Check out their selections of cheese, coffee, wine, beer and delicious large pizza for less than 7 bucks, chocolates and the lists goes on and on. They can pass on the savings to you by bagging your own groceries ,returning your shopping and their efficient way of running the store. What an amazing place to shop. The prices are right, the quality is on point, and the staff is amazing with my 7 year old. .. the only reasons for a 4 star instead of 5? #1 a little background music goes a long way! It sounds like a mortuary in there, and #2 someone please turn the air conditioner on at least occasionally. .. it's only April, and I can't imagine how the employees endure 8 hours of that, plus I'm sure it costs more money in the long run maintaining the refrigerators and freezers in that. First time in the store And I must say I was impressed. I have heard from others that the prices were unreal, and they were right!. I did not enter expecting them to roll out the red carpet or treat me like royalty like some of these reviewers... That is not to say that I was treated poorly, quite the opposite; Rafael was very polite and helpful. Looking at this store from a business perspective it makes sense, it is very spartan and efficient, which immediately made me adore it. The way the isles were laid out and the shelves stocked I can imagine a crew of 3 people can stock the entire store in 6 hours flat. Keeping with that same spartan mindset I understand where Aldi is coming from with the $0.25 shopping cart. It is to prevent the shopping cart wasteland that you will find in stores like walmart where lazy shoppers litter them in jumbled piles across the parking lot. I truly don't believe Aldi is trying to make money off people using shopping carts, you get the quarter back after all, they just want people to behave like adults. I think time will unfortunately show that the quarter carts wont stop people from being lazy... or perhaps some neighborhood kids will round all of the carts up throughout the day to earn a couple dollars for soda or snacks, win-win. I have digressed too far... The store is fantastic! It sets out to give shoppers quality food at rock bottom prices, but in order to create a successful business they need to balance expenses and profit, so do not expect an army of employees awaiting your arrival or elaborate displays. I went in to this store for the first time today and WOW was I impressed! The store carries their own private label brands, which are about 50% less expensive than other stores likes Ralph's or Albertson's. I tried their pita chips and hummus, which are now going to be staples in my fridge. I'm so happy that this store came to Santa Clarita. The people who complain about the quarter system are lazy... They don't get it. The quarter system is great and allows for the parking lot to remain clean and clutter free from carts. I'm an Aldi-believer and I am so happy that Aldi came to town! read more

I am super excited that this Aldi opened here in Santa Clarita. As someone has pointed out, the company is owned by the brothers who also own Trader Joe's here in the U.S. Aldi has been around Europe for years and is one of the largest grocery chain over there. Being born and raised in Germany (Aldi is German) I would like to offer a different perspective on some of the complaints that people seem to have. 1. Shopping carts: The idea is to add a quarter to ensure that shopping carts are returned. You do not loose the quarter (unless you don't return it) and it's more than likely that most people have a quarter lying around somewhere in their car. Shouldn't be that big of a deal. Is it that hard to walk back a few feet to return a cart? Did everyone really get that lazy? Sad! Plus isn't it nice being able to pull in a parking lot and actually being able to park rather than half way pulling in a lot that is full of carts? How about not getting your car hit by a shopping cart? No, not worth the walk back? I understand it's a little different but hey may not be bad. We got used to CRV on cans and bottles and also to bringing our own bags right? These are all things that are common practice in most other places in the world. Next point, bagging groceries. It's not that hard, bring a basket throw it in the cart and throw your items in, easy, saves money and waste less plastic bags. Also, Costco doesn't bag your items either they just throw them in your cart maybe give you a box. Hasn't stopped anyone from shopping there. Lastly, different items: yes they have generic brands that's why it's so cheap. Does that mean they are bad? Probably not, I'm sure some are better than others but it can't all be bad. There is a ton of these stores, I don't think they would survive if all their items are bad. Think Trader Joe's, it's all generic (house brand) items, people still shops there even if the brands are not familiar. Maybe worth the try. I'm sorry this post is so long and no I don't work there but I truly feel people are judging this store because practices are different and apparently in our society different is bad. This could be a great store and very helpful for less fortunate people to have a way to shop. read more

The first time I went to this store I asked myself where the rest of it was. It's half of what Ralph's was. I don't like this store. They're missing about six aisles.Their selections are very small. There's no specialty departments, i.e., meat, deli, bakery and flowers. I like names I trust. The produce looks undesirable. There's only one brand of water. The only meat I see is turkey breasts and ham. No hamburger. I don't even recall seeing any chicken. I'm a wine drinker, so I definitely wanted to check that out. To my dismay their wine is more expensive than Von's, Ralph's or Stater Brothers. I get it at a discount at those stores if I buy 4 to 6 bottles depending on the store and I'd still pay less than I would here for the same amount of bottles. I was so hoping we would be getting a Stater Brothers instead. So I will drive the 5 miles there. As far as eggs go, I'd much rather spend $4 for Eggland's Best, because that's what they are! Try other eggs and then try Eggland's Best. You will see, or rather taste the difference. I've told a few people that and in return they told me that I was right. The only reason I will go to Aldi's is for milk. Aldi's is walking distance for me, but I will not do my grocery shopping there. Oh, and another thing they don't have is pet food. Big mistake. Huge. I'm hoping Aldi's goes bye bye just like Hagen's did. They brought Von's right back within about three months, if that. If I want to shop cheaper, I'll go to the 99 cent store! read more

This is one of those types of stores where you 'have' to go to when you realize you ran out of butter for a recipe. I went in this store out of curiosity, and was pretty disappointed. The first red flag is there is really no one there. The store is half the size of other neighborhood stores, and everything is in boxes. I visited Aldi's market for the first time today. My mom suggested this market for its' low cost items ... It was definitely a different experience for starters in order to borrow a cart you have to leave a quarter ... I wasn't prepared for this so a friendly staff member lent me a quarter ... I walked in and was immediately reminded of "fresh and easy" ... Products were cheap but weren't name brand ... Like at the 99 cents store ... Need to do more research on the ingredients... Am kinda skeptical ... Also although staff members were friendly & helpful ... I didn't have a great experience at the register .. The cashier, in a hast, rang up my items and dumped them into another cart ... I wasn't asked if I hand bags or if I wanted to purchase some ...It was upsetting because the bread was smashed by the milk ... I was like whoa wait a minute ... What's going on ... I wanted to buy bags ... The guy was like u could still buy some ... I told him it was too late ...my food was already thrown & smashed Into the cart ... I paid and started to walk towards the exit ... When the same cashier ... Sitting on what looked like an office chair called out for me ... I thought maybe I had forgotten something ... He said "hey could you roll that empty cart over there ...towards me so I could ring up the next customer" ... I thought what ????? You can't get up from your office chair to do your job & get the cart yourself ???? Essentially, this guy wanted me to do his job after smashing my food .. Really ?.... Overall I was having an ok experience at this market but that guy killed it ... I wish I would have gotten his name .... I really hope it was an isolated incident.
