I love Sasoun Produce. My little brother introduced me to this market, and I was honestly blown away the first time I walked in. It has been surprisingly difficult to find truly fresh fruits, vegetables, and produce, but this place pretty much had it all. They carry a wide variety of seeded fruits and produce from different parts of the world, and everything looked fresh and natural rather than overly processed or mass-produced. I'm almost hesitant to leave this review because I don't want the spot to get so popular that I can never find the fruit I'm looking for again. The woman working behind the register was also extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. She allowed my brother and me to sample a few fruits that were new to us and gave us background and insight into where they came from and what made them unique. I would absolutely recommend Sasoun Produce, especially for health fanatics and anyone who may not get the opportunity to travel but still wants to experience fruits from different parts of the world. International | What a variety of seasonal and exotic produce! I was amazed by so many items that I've never seen or even heard of before, including green almonds with the outer shell, which felt like velvet! I also saw some of the biggest heirloom tomatoes ever! I felt like a kid in a candy store, however, it was delicious and colorful fruit instead! I enjoyed every moment of discovering of new items! Variety is key | There was definitely a variety of price points, some higher than others! You choose what works for you! Inside | Neat and tidy! Many items were lined up ,which I love! The prices were clear, front and center! I absolutely loved that! There was also a sign showing where in the world the items were from, so cool! Sightings | While exploring the store with my Chef friend, I was introduced to another Chef and she was fun to speak to as well! It was fun, checking out the large tea section with her! Also, fun running into a recording artist that I listen to on a regular basis and chatting, as well as being invited to her upcoming event! What a fun & popular store! Checkout | Customer service was incredibly friendly, helpful throughout the store, as I interacted with several people who answered my questions easily, and with a smile! I ended up getting delicious, stuffed dates, sesame cookies, a fruit called mamey sapote & another exotic fruit, which I can't think of the name of at the moment (Total $26)! I originally found this place on Instagram and it definitely lives up to your expectations. It's a pretty small place but you won't find their fresh, exotic finds anywhere else. I don't come here often because it's not too close to me but on the occasion, it's fun the stop by and see what they have. I can almost guarantee you won't leave empty handed! One of the best parts of Sasoun produce by far is their customer service. Every interaction here has been so lovely, it feels like you're visiting a friend or family member. I saw someone talking about this place on instagram and how they had a bunch of exotic fruit. I really wanted to try the ice cream bean for years but never knew where to get it, then after I saw this video, I realized that it's a few miles up the street from me. They have a huge selection of exotic fruits, the prices are reasonable, and the service is kind. It's worth checking out this quaint little place with all of these exotic fruits. I was not expecting this shop to look the way it did on the inside, but nevertheless, the help we got from the employees and the abundance of diverse produce made me not care at all what the area looked like or the inside of the shop itself. The girl who checked us out even asked when we planned to eat our fruits to change out some of the ones we grabbed for one that would last longer or was already ripe! I have ordered the tropical fruit box from Sasoun for the last two years and always had great produce; however the last 3 boxes have been very disappointing for $70. The boxes are under the guaranteed weight and it seems like they just throw in leftover fruit now. I had a cherimoya that had clearly been frozen and was mush inside but life cold and hard on the outside. I've also been receiving lots of non-tropical fruit (e.g. apples and a donut peach). She was very friendly and also good at giving suggestions on what to try I liked everything I got it was an experience. Small store in East LA that reminds me of bodegas in NYC. Great selection of fruit I've never seen sold anywhere in LA. Ice cream beans. Different kinds of dragon fruit. Been wanting to go here for a while! There is some street parking right outside the shop which wasn't metered. Also there's a bakery next door in case you want to get some additional pastries! Lots of nice fruits on display. The lady at the cash register was very helpful because some fruits I hadn't seen before, and she showed me which ones were ripe/unripe. Sasoun produce also has their own tea and herb blends, which looked very tempting. I think the next time I go I'll try their tea. I do think it is a *little* pricey (8$/lb for lychee!) but the quality is good so I don't mind. Go check them out!! read more

The variety and types of fruits changes depending on when you go, but there's always cool stuff there. Many items are expensive relative to the fruit you will more often see in stores, but the prices are very reasonable for the fruit itself in my opinion. I found a lot of things I had been wanting to try for a while, and the woman at the till was very kind and helpful!! She picked explained to us what the texture of the fruits we had chosen would be like when ripe, and even picked out certain fruits for us that we wanted to be already ripe when we bought it! They have more stuff in the store than just the hard to find fruits, but that is definitely the main draw (for me at least)! The store is fairly small, but it is nice inside and well stocked. Also, the parking is not awful even though it is on a busy street! We parked next to a meter and found that it was free parking for a while! Cute little store with variety of exotic fruits depending on the time of the year that normally you can't find so easily elsewhere however not impossible to find. Based on the location of the store it's in the bad area of LA where rent there definitely isn't expensive due to the lack of corporate investments, etc. so with that being said I'm not sure why the prices of their fruit is as expensive as it is. I understand the whole vibes of organic etc and perhaps imported goods but it's still definitely overpriced where if you come in you can only get a handful of things to try within the same day to next but not for a longer time as if you're going to a grocery store like Whole Foods and you feel more a financial freedom to buy as you wish since it's more affordable. Nevertheless different organic and unique. The owner seemed helpful to an extent but his workers seemed very delightful and knowledgeable about the fruit. I found this local small business because I was browsing a delivery app and was intrigued that a produce store popped up. When I looked in and noticed the Instagram page that was linked, I was amazed to see mangosteen and tons of exotic fruits that I'd never seen before! I haven't been able to have mangosteen in years because it's almost impossible to find in America, and if you do find them they're so rock hard and old that it's not worth eating. After reading comments I realized the mangosteen sells out quickly so I dropped by the store just to find out that they'd already sold out a few days prior. I came back the following week and they had tons of fresh mangosteen in stock. It was the freshest I'd seen them in America and although the price was a bit steep it was totally worth it considering I never get to have these amazing fruits and they were SO fresh and perfect. I also got a little cup of cut pink pineapple which I'd been wanting to try, but didn't want to pay $30 for a whole one. David was so amazing and friendly which made our second experience there even better than our first. He allowed us to try the adorable little lemonquats he had in the front, and chatted with us about the store for a bit! A huge geyser of water was blowing up on the street over right when we got to the store so the street was flooding, which definitely made it a memorable experience already, but their selection of fruit and David's amazing customer service made it phenomenal.
