Booked 11-2p to install some lights. Simple and easy job. Didn't show; called late and said he'd be even later. Fine, no biggie. Shows up 4 hours late at the wrong address. Calls. Says he's not going to show up after all, and even if he did, he wouldn't install the lights; "company policy" demands an estimate first, and there are "more important" jobs today. We've used Aleco for several extensive electrical projects in our rental and were previously happy with their work. However, on two separate occasions, their estimator Al provided estimates that were significantly higher than other licensed electricians. The first time, the quote felt unusually high so we chose another company. The second time, we received three estimates for the same job: Aleco came in at $17,238, while two other licensed electricians quoted $3,400 and $2,854 for the same scope of work. We proceeded with the $2,854 estimate by another company and the work was completed professionally, and everything has functioned properly over the past four months. The difference between Aleco's estimate and the others was over $14,000, which was difficult to understand. During the estimate, Al was using a tablet-based checklist that generated an instant quote, while the other electricians took detailed notes and later provided a reviewed written estimate. Based on these two separate experiences with Al from Aleco, we are writing this review to alert other customers that it might be worth getting multiple bids to compare estimates before proceeding. read more

Aleco moved a scheduled appointment back 2 hours without notifying me, and then the electrician fraudulently said they called me (despite not having my number) to tell HQ that I didn't want their services anymore. When I called to see why nobody showed up, they said the best they could do was schedule a week out. Very poor customer service. Will not be using them in the future. read more

Do not trust this company. Called for an appointment to troubleshoot and give me an estimate. The electrician who came out was very informative, taking the time to explain to me what is involved. We were impressed with his demeaner and knowledge and said we wanted to go ahead with the repair and added a whole house inspection to verify the rest of the system was safe. The job was scheduled for 2 days later. We received 3 instant messages from the company verifying the appointment Morning of the appointment no one showed. When we called the company to find out when they would show, we were told I had called and rescheduled the appointment for 2 days later. I explained I had not called they insisted I had (so I was liar). When I stated I had received texts verifying the original appointment as late as the night before but no messages stating the appointment was rescheduled I was told the messages were from the original cancelled appointment as the system doesn't delete. Furthermore, they explained the new appointment would not have been verified until the day before with the auto message. When I pointed out that I received messages on the day the appointment was booked, another the next day, and another the following day (verifying a tech was coming the next day) so I was confused why no message was sent regarding the new appointment immediately upon rescheduling. The service manager insisted I had called to reschedule and this was a problem I created. We cancelled the appointment. We do not trust this company. After this experience I read some of the other reviews of this company. (yes I should have read them first) I found it interesting the complaint of upselling customers. This was our experience as well, while the original tech addressed the original problem he then went on to explain how the original work (house was rewired in 2022 from knob and tube to current codes) was wrong and possibly verging on dangerous. He recommended a whole house inspection, which we agreed to. He did warn us that it could be several hundred dollars for the inspection and repairs were above that. When I asked if the current job was so inferior, why did it pass inspection. He explained that inspectors are not electricians and therefore don't really understand what they are looking at. I called this supposed 24 hour emergency company on a Saturday morning because we had a smoke alarm start chirping overnight. A battery change didn't help on this hardwired device. I called Aleco and was told an electrician would come between 3-5 today. Received a text confirming that. Its now 4:40 pm and I have been just told that no one is coming! Over the years, the wiring/electrical service in our circa 1949 house had been upgraded piecemeal, as the existing system reached the end of its useful life. So, we ended up with a main panel and a couple of sub panels to allow us to incorporate an EV charger and solar panels, but still had some issues. The earliest work that we had done after buying the house in 1999 was by one company and we then shifted to Aleco about eight years ago when we had an emergency come up on a weekend and they were available. Recently, they recommended that we do a complete rewire and integrate everything into one main sub-panel while also upgrading the main service panel . Their quote was pricey , but they gave us a dollar-for-dollar credit for all of the work they had previously done , so they ended up being cost-effective . The in-the-house work is done, but we are still waiting for the permit from PG&E. The crew who did the work were very knowledgeable and professional, and as the job got closer to completion, they stayed later and later each day to make sure it got done. On the less positive side, we were told that they would be giving us new lightbulbs for all of our fixtures. That never happened. They also told us that we would "never have to buy lightbulbs again." And that we would "just have to call" them if we needed bulbs and they would bring us some. We called, they never came. They've also blown off dealing with some very minor damage to a bathroom wall caused by work they were doing on the panel on the other side of the wall. I never really believed the bit about the lightbulbs, and getting the bathroom wall fixed wasn't a big deal, but this does speak to less than great responsiveness. I would still recommend them for the quality of their work, just know what you are getting into and get other quotes before signing on the dotted line. read more

Man called at 12:30 and said he would be here by 2:15. At 2:30, he called and asked to reschedule for Monday. Hire at your own risk. Be prepared for poor communication and waiting. I'd highly encourage doing some due diligence before hiring this company. They were difficult to work with, very expensive, and had a lot of delays (quoted us 4-8 weeks, ended up being 5+ months). The technicians themselves were nice enough, but corporate was extremely frustrating. They charge 50% up front (normal), but then expect they won't return your calls for weeks. I had to call essentially every day to get them moving. Additionally, they would show up to our house unannounced (no warning) saying they needed to measure something or take a photo. This happened multiple times despite asking they give us a heads up. I'd recommend exploring and getting a competitive quote from another company who is local and diamond certified. The outlets on an entire wall in the kitchen weren't working and we suspected it had to do with some wiring which Aleco confirmed but because it was a more complicated issue that they weren't prepared to do, they suggested we call our electrical serve provider instead. And the best part was they didn't even charge us for the diagnoses while I bet other electricians wouldn't have hesitated to take advantage of my grandpa and charge over $200 for pretty much showing up and checking things out. I had an electrician from Aleco, Al, come to take a look at a power issue. He spent five minutes inspecting a single device and then told me I needed to replace every outlet and the breaker box in my home, which would cost $9K. Despite being 37, he gave me a senior discount to lower the cost closer to $8K. He said if they had to rewire the house it could be close to $65K. Though I was always planning on getting a second opinion, I immediately burst into tears (I was NOT expecting that sort of bill). He tried to pressure me to immediately put a $1K deposit down so they could start work later that week. I have since had two other electricians troubleshoot the issue and tell me Al was scamming me. The device on the patio had incurred water damage and caused a short; replacing every outlet and the breaker was completely uneccessary and would not have resolved the actual issue. An electrician with integrity was able to solve the problem for $600. I think Al saw a single woman unfamiliar with electrical work and figured he could take me for a ride. Had a guy come out to give me an estimate on hanging a chandelier over my kitchen island and I guess he didn't like the fact that that there was a lot of crystals on the chandelier so I offered to put the crystals up myself and all he had to do was hang the chandelier. If I could give them negative stars, I would rate them negative five. First, I scheduled an appointment to repair my unit, which had no power. They showed up the same day I called, which seemed promising. However, upon arrival, the technician could diagnose the issue but not repair it. The person on the phone never mentioned that they only do estimates first and then reschedule for the actual repair--meanwhile, my unit had no power. The technician identified the issue as a simple fan replacement, which shouldn't take long to fix. Despite this, they scheduled the repair for three days later, leaving me without power in the interim. On the day of the scheduled repair, they didn't show up. I spoke to two managers who were not only unhelpful but also rude. If you need a repair done promptly, DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY. I am very disappointment on their work. The guy that came was very nice but he didn't do anything. So they charge 299 after 5pm and then 67 for half and hour and minimum 1 hour so I payed 437 but all he did was try to locate where the problem was. he didn't even take out any outlets or checked anything he just looked. And said the problem might be up in the attic with the collections there that he can't go there and that was after 15 minutes of just looking. And charged us 437 for that. Absolutely insane ! I wouldn't recommend this electrician to anyone ! A waste of time! And money! And now I still have to figure out why I don't have electricity in my living room. The reviews are correct. Pricing is through the roof for a simple project. And having two men do the job hardly seems necessary. The technician arrived on time, but was unprepared. Didn't have a small ladder. Had to let him use one of my dining chairs to stand on. I also had to loan him one of my screwdrivers so he wouldn't have to go back out to his vehicle. He didn't wear shoe covers, but he did put some on when I asked if he had any. It was a little frustrating that he asked the same questions several times. Rarely do I leave a five star rating on anything however my experience with this company certainly deserves it. We needed to install a 220/240 volt outlet in the garage for electric vehicle charging. After receiving several bids which were literally all over the map, I felt comfortable hiring Aleco to proceed with the installation. Technicians Damien Cruz and Elias Rodriquez showed up on time and proceeded to determine what exactly needed to be done and went right to work. The job was ponderous however I could tell that this wasn't their first rodeo and that they had everything well under control. At every juncture they kept me apprised of what they were doing and made recommendations that they thought were appropriate which I very much appreciated, as with electrical - safety is always the primary concern. Not only was the cost competative, at the completion when I plugged in - everything worked perfectly. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking to install a Level Two electric vehicle charging station at home or any other electrical job they might need. I would give zero stars if possible...I was having trouble with several dead outlets so I called "Same Day Electric Fair Oaks" but it then transfers over to Aleco Electric. This was Thursday evening & I was told someone would be at my house between 11-1 the following day (Friday before Memorial Day)..1:30 comes, no show, so I called and was told "He's running late...he'll be there between 2-4....no one called & told you?" 3:45 arrives with still no show. I called again was told "Jordan's running late, he'll call you when he's 30 minutes out". Jordan calls at 4:30 & says he'll "be there between 5:30-6". I ran an errand but left my teenage son at home just in case. Jordan arrives at 5:15, (no call prior to his arrival) my son shows him the the outlets while I explained that I was down the street and was there in 5 minutes. He told my son he "had to make a call" & left before I arrived. I called the service and was told they "couldn't do kanything..Jordan's on another job" but if I still wanted someone, I would have to pay "after hours fees". Utter bull$h@t! The site visit began well with the electrician, Mike T., thoroughly reviewing our electrical panels and load and discussing the options. However, the site visit took an unexpected turn when Mike offered to sell me electrical outlet insurance. Such insurance would cover the replacement of all of my 110 volt electrical outlets, which he said should be done every 18-25 years. I was skeptical. Our home just happens to be 23 years old, which would fit the insurance profile. I declined the insurance offer. Later a simple check with ChatGPT confirmed my suspicions. There is no need to replace perfectly functioning 110 volt electrical outlet merely because they are old. Needless to say, Aleco Electric's bid, was $2,592 and I had the work done for $1,500 less by an electrician I trust who didn't try to sell me an insurance policy for my electrical outlets. I had scheduled an appointment for an electrician to come out for an evaluation/estimate. I had to schedule it a week out for somebody able to come out while I am at home. It had been scheduled between 3-5p on a Friday. The day before the appointment, I receive a text that the technician would be coming at 11a, when I would be at work and nobody would be home. When I called to find out why the appointment time had changed, I was told they had to reschedule as 3-5p was when their technicians are returning home. Nobody had called me to reschedule, and they kept trying to give me an appointment at times I had told them I would not be available. I have to give my experience with this company a poor rating and would not recommend them. I called for help diagnosing my low-voltage garden lights after they suddenly stopped working after 12 years. I thought my transformer finally went out, so I bought a new one, but after trying two new ones, the "A" (auto) button would go out after 30 seconds. Carl from Aleco came out and was just as baffled as I was about my situation. He told me he would have to go home and research the issue. He said he would also contact some landscapers he knew and would call me back, but I never heard from him again. I bought a different transformer, and the "A" (auto) indicator stayed on, but the lights still do not work. I replied to the original text Aleco sent me advising them I still needed help with the issue, but again, never heard back from them. The team responded to my request for the installation of a transfer switch for my generator. They were out the next day and provided a bid. They were here on time in 3 business days to complete the work. Due to the design of my generator we discovered it needed a special transfer switch. I  wanted a large, heavy chandelier re-hung in my entryway.  It was difficult to find an electrician willing to take the job because it required scaffolding and 2-3 guys to lift the chandelier.  Aleco took the job. When the Aleco electricians were finished, there were a couple issues I had with the chandelier: mainly, it was hung too high.  The Aleco customer service representative later scheduled a new crew to come out and correct the problem.  They did a good job, and made sure I was satisfied with the height of the chandelier before finishing the job. read more
