We had tried Aleko's years ago when it was attached to a gas station, but tonight we got to try their new restaurant (it's been open almost a year) and we were not disappointed. It was suggested for us to make reservations so we did. We arrived about a half an hour before our reservation and were seated promptly. Everybody was very nice and allowed us to basically sit where we wanted. Our waiter was very attentive, and took care of all of our needs. My wife got the Gyro Platter with rice and Lemon Potatoes. She loved it. I got the Gyro Pita with a side salad and my son got the Gyro Pita with fries. A friend of ours got the Chicken Souvlaki with Lemon Potatoes and we all lived our meals. For dessert, we all got the Chocolate Brownie, which had some whipped cream on top, and came warm. It was absolutely fantastic! We will definitely be back, but even for nights where we want to eat at home they have carryout. Give it a try. Nice place, delicious food, and very nice people. You can't lose. read more

Alekos's is a wonderful gem of home-made, tasty Greek food for a reasonable price. The spanakopita comes out as one large triangle to share. The Dip Sampler and the Meat Sampler are standouts. The Dip Sampler has a variety of yummy dips and warm pita. Hummus can vary a lot in different restaurants, and this one is good, creamy with not too much garlic. We both enjoyed the Meat Sampler at our first dinner and took home leftovers - nice variety of meats. It comes with a good basmati rice but you can also choose a salad or French Fries. Gotta love a place that offers you both! This visit, I had the Moussaka Entree (gluten free) which was a special that night. It was tasty with no spice that overwhelmed the dish. Nice size slice with a salad with tomatoes. My husband had the Chicken Kebob which came with three skewers of chicken and salad (instead of the French Fries). We both took some food home especially after the Dip Sampler. We arrived around 5 pm and got the benefit of the Happy Hour price of $2 off a draft beer ($6 instead of $8) and $1 off the martini. The baklava has a generous supply of nuts, and I have enjoyed the Baklava Cheesecake at home for dessert. The restaurant decor is relaxing and attractive with thoughtful touches like a little table for your purse or to put your leftover containers on. The metal artwork tree, wicker lamps and paintings on the wall contribute to the cozy ambiance. Service has been prompt with someone coming over to greet us quickly. For my espresso martini, they had run out of espresso, but someone went to buy espresso from a coffee shop instead of telling me to order something else. Aleko's is a lovely, neighborhood gem. TLDR: Hot food on a cold night. Oompah! I used to stop for takeout at Aleko's old location in a gas station when I refereed games at the local high school. Great food, great value. But 6 weeks ago they moved to a full sit-down restaurant a mile and a half away. With my wife off at a community group dinner, I thought I would see how the new place stacked up. The inside was bright and warm, tables and chairs were comfortable, and very quiet even though almost every table was in use. These days this is a rare but well-appreciated thing; my old ears approved. I was quickly seated and handed a menu and wine list. Wine list contained quite a few Greek wines and beers. I like reds that are, well, a bit rough so I went with one recommended by the waiter. Good choice. Good choice! The food menu contained all of my old favorites. No fancy Greek/Asian/Inuit fusion here, thank Zeus! I was getting ready to order the gyro platter when the owner casually mentioned that lamb shanks with roasted potatoes were the night's special. Score! My food was delivered very, very quickly, and it exceeded my expectations. Lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender, well seasoned, and covered with a simple Greek tomato sauce. Potatoes were well cooked (but not as crispy as I usually like), but their feta and olive oil sauce was superb. Beautiful fluffy rice and a simple salad of romaine lettuce, tomatoes, feta and a light vinaigrette were also included. Everything was delicious! Overall, servings were generous and prices were reasonable. And yes, they still offer carry out, something to keep in mind the next time I drive through Middletown on my way anywhere. And even if I'm not driving through, Aleko's is worth the trip all by itself. read more

This is a must-visit. Me and my friends all got the same thing, chicken souvlaki. The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The fries are amazing--totally worth the extra dollar to get feta. The sauce for lemon potato wedges was beyond divine and the service was excellent. Fairly busy for brunch time but it was an excellent atmosphere. Lots of parking, diverse menu, and themed to fit the food. I will definitely be back to try the dessert! read more

Enjoyed a delicious lunch at Aleko's. Sat out on the patio on a beautiful day. Enjoyed the Kolokithokeftedes appetizer and the Dip sampler with pita. The eggplant dip was amazing as was the fire feta. It was all really good. For my mea I had the lamb chops. Three big pieces that were cooked and seasoned perfectly with lemon baked potatoes. We finished the meal with a Greek coffee and baklava cheesecake. The service was excellent and I would definitely come back! read more

When old is new again! __ We've been carryout customers for 20+years and never get tired of our favorites. The wife ordered the Combination Platter - Gyro meat, Chicken and cooked to perfection with gentle, lovely spice. I tried the Pastitsio (Greek lasagne) and it was divine! The bechamel cheese had the consistency of pudding. The brand new dining room is tastefully decorated (with love!) and Aleko himself was our waiter. Nice wine selection. TOP NOTCH all around. I was excited to hear the first Aleko's was moved to Downtown Middletown. Then I was waiting their dining room to be opened. Four of us visited last weekend, and we enjoyed everything. Their euro and their falafel anything you get from there you can't go wrong take my word for it. I am the crankiest person when it comes to Food and I just moved to Maryland from Oregon, and was not expecting to find such a magical place and such great Greek food,! The ambience is fantastic. I can't believe food this fresh and delicious is sold out of a gas station! My daughter lives in Middletown, and recommended Aleko's for a quick delicious bit of Greek food. We were blown away. The gyros were huge, with warm pillowy pita, plenty of meat, fresh veggies and a tangy, rich tzatziki sauce. The Greek salad was huge and fresh, with big juicy chunks of well-seasoned chicken. Aleko's Review - 3.5 Stars We had reservations and were seated right away. However, from the time we placed our order to when the food arrived, it was a lengthy 45 minutes. They were out of the draft beer we originally requested, so we chose another option. It wasn't bad, though I can't recall the name. We ordered standard American-Greek fare, Gyros and fresh cut French fries. The fresh fries are where I give them the extra .5. The meal was okay, but nothing special. We've honestly had better from food trucks. Dinner was served on cafeteria-style trays lined with wax paper. The gyros were wrapped in foil, and the fries were served directly on the paper. Diet Coke came in bottles with an ice-filled glass. If they want to make this an actual restaurant, this needs to be better. Actual plates and glass pitchers would make for a much better presentation. The wait staff was young and did their very best to accommodate us, which we appreciated. If the restaurant were closer to us, we might consider ordering takeout. Otherwise, we'll probably just wait for the Greek Church to host their gyro days. read more

Try the cheesecake balaclava - very different, not overly sweet, but a substantial end to dinner. This used to be the town's post office! They turned it into a warm, inviting place. All I can really say is AH-MAZING! We got a falafel pita and a regular gyro on a pita. Both were jam packed with veggies and protein with the protein being cooked to perfection. I would say after ordering it probably took about 10-15 minutes and they call your order out the window which is useful so you can wait in your car. This is a hole in the wall in the most literal sense. When you pass by it every fiber of your body will tell you not to eat there. It is literally inside of a gas station. You eat on picnic benches outside in a gas station parking lot. But you know what... it's f***ing awesome. Really great Greek food. Friendly staff. The gyros were awesome. We went in to sit down for a table of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids). The lady said we have some finishing their entrees and we will get you after that. I watched 6 other people walk in and get seated before us. One man came over and told us 5 more minutes (after waiting 40 minutes). Two of the tables were beside each other. When I asked her about it and why they couldn't just put two tables together, she made excuses that she had to wait for a table with 5 - even though the table that sat 2 were next to each other. I said she should have been up front about the wait time and her response was "I told you I didn't know how long". If you're running a restaurant, you should be able to tell people how long a wait is. Had she been up front originally and said wait is close to an hour but it'll be faster for you to order takeout - that's what I would have done. She then just said "I can't kick people out". There were 3 empty tables when I asked all this and she said she was moving to make room for us. So I said should I go get my kids? She said no that she had to move the tables. I then went back and waited 5 more minutes and nobody came. We ended up leaving after waiting nearly 45 minutes. The restaurant itself closes at 830. I would have had less than 40 minutes to eat. I still have not heard anything about my reservation -they were to text when the table is ready. It was 7-8pm and we left at 745pm. I have been going to alekos for several years but ever since they opened the actual restaurant I have had horrible service and will not be eating here again. read more

Really great Greek food. We stopped for lunch while in the area. They are inside of a gas station, which was convenient with plenty of parking. We ordered and went back outside and sat in our car. When I worked in Baltimore, there was a marvelous Greek food truck that would locate on W. Lombard and Penn near the UMB School of Medicine that had the most incredible gyros. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The lettuce in the salad was so crisp and fresh. The gyro meat was fresh, tender and flavorful. We were surprised since it's on the side of an Exxon gas station. There is seating outside. We will definitely be going back when in the area. read more

This place is eh. I came here for lunch today. I ordered the Sampler Platter with a side salad. The Meatball was medium sized and ok. The Chicken Kebab was like any other and the Gyro meat was pretty good. I could tell the Basmati Rice had a ton of butter in it so I didn't eat much of it. The side salad sucked. The dressing was bland and the tomatoes weren't good at all. Needless to say, I tossed most of it. I recommend ordering ahead as there are no seats other than outside as its in a gas station and the order took about 15 minutes. Unless you like walking around a gas station convenience store while you wait, I would order ahead by phone. I was really eager to try this place out but I'm one and done. read more

Aleko's is always a great option for good Greek fare. Vegetarian options are fabulous as are the more traditional options. Try the veggie souzou gyro, veggie meat with zucchini in pita. If I could give this place a 10 star I would. Although last time I was there I got plain fries although I ordered feta fries it's not worth taking stars off because they have some of the best tasting gyros that I have had in a long time! The meat is not dry and all the ingredients are fresh and amazing.
