Their Baklava are crispy, well baked, deliciously luring you into devouring yet another, yet another. They have little to envy to the pistachious wonders one can taste in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar (or, I imagine, in Syria). They are pricy but worth it. Unfortunately, their service is terrible and their customer service or interest on making things right non existent. They make you go through a rigorous preorder, 24 hours in advance and are supposed to let you know when they are ready. We ordered midday on a Saturday. Mid afternoon on Sunday , after hearing nothing for hours past the intended time, we called them and they just told us they did not prepare our order. They then gave us only half of it, telling us the rest would be ready the next day. To add insult to injury, the next day was not Monday , since they were closed until Wednesday. Since the poor guy insisted he could not do anything for us, he told us to speak to someone in a managerial position that was supposed to call us. That, you guessed, never happened. On Wednesday, no news. On Thursday, they let us know that they refunded half of our order. They had the gut to actually refund only half of it, after making us wait for stuff we had paid for for over 4 days. Unbelievable. Obviously, no compensation or offer would have fixed the ruined plans for Sunday, but at least would have shown good faith. Shameful business practices, very money oriented and without any respect for guests/clients. Definitely not authentically Syrian in that regard. read more

I've been on a Friday Lunch Falafel kick recently. This was my first trip to Aleppo after reading so many positive reviews about their sweets. The falafel wrap was OUTSTANDING and served with a side of creamy tahini which was also wonderful. The inclusion of tabbouleh gave the wrap a wonderful taste. I requested no onions, yes pickles. Just delicious. I also decided to treat myself to a few pieces of Baklava. OMG. It took every bit of self-control I could muster to close the box after two pieces. Came for the Baklava. Upon first taste, I considered dropping my whole life in order to live closer to this heavenly spot! I came with a group and we sampled every type of Baklava available. We devoured every piece like maniacs in a matter of minutes. I haven't had plenty of overly sweet and syrupy baklava, and this was not it - just the right amount of sweetness, and plenty of crunch from the dough and filling. Started going here after months of missing Syrian food. First time I went was because the nearby restaurants all had very long waits. The food was really good! Casual dining with a tearoom like atmosphere. I've gone back 3 times since and tried something new each time. Nothing has let me down. This place is good for the soul. The ambiance is delightful. When I walked in, I walked into a quiet store since I was the first customer of the day. I was greeted with plush seats, gorgeous lighting streaming in through the windows full of greenery, and the sound of water trickling down a small indoor waterfall. It felt like a place of refuge, of calm, of escape. All I could do was take a deep breath in and sigh. As people trickled in, the ambiance changed, to a social, lively place. Though there is no wifi here, this place is perfect for catching up with friends, writing a paper, reading a book, journaling. It's an enchantingly beautiful place. The food itself is delightful as well. I got the ginger, cardamom, mint tea, and a plate of baba ghanoush. I don't even like ginger, but the mint, cardamom, and sugar made the ginger more muted than a normal ginger tea, so I liked it. I would say the tea was pretty sweet, so if you like your tea more bitter, go for the black tea or black/mint tea. The pot that the tea comes in is almost worth it in and of itself. It's absolutely gorgeous. The baba ghanoush was so much food, mainly because it comes with a lot of Syrian bread! It was far too much for me (who wanted to eat this for lunch!), so next time I would order this for 2-3 people. The taste of the baba ghanoush was perfect; it had that smoky taste from the eggplants, and the spices were on point. I've had the baklava as take out before, and it is a dream - crispy, sweet, and sticky, as all good baklava should be. There were so many more things to try on the menu, and I'm definitely coming back. The best thing is that this sweets shop exists to help support Syrian refugees to PVD. They are working HARD to make a way for themselves here and blessing us along the way. TRULY, we are the ones gifted by them. Great food. The lady finger is very tasty and not sweet at all. Anyone can enjoy it. The Fatayers looks like pizza, but nothing like a pizza. They have the shape of a boat and taste like flatbread. The ingredients are uniquely Middle Eastern. I enjoyed the Kefta Lamb Kabob, there are 3 skews in an order. Unlike the kabob you find in the Iranian restaurants, these kabobs are very skinny. This place has been near the top of my long list of places to try out in PVD and it did not disapppoint. I came here tonight to catch up with a friend over warm tea and baklava and it did not disappoint. We shared a small pot of ginger chai honey tea and it was delicious with the perfect amount of spice and gingery kick and great for an unusually cold night following a week of warmer days. (Spring please come back!) We also each got the classic, pistachio, and chocolate baklava for ourselves and we have NO regrets. :) . My personal favorites were the chocolate and classic. The classic melts in your mouth with the perfect amount of crispy goodness. The chocolate was also very well done and suprisingly not too sweet despite baklava being very sweet at baseline. We also got a baba ganoush to share which was a creamier version of the baba ganoush that I've had with a nice smokey understone and sweet paprila finish! They also gave generous portions of the syrian bread! 5/5 would come again to try the rest of the menu Pro-tip - the sweets come in a very nice box and would make an awesome housewarming gift. Just ordered from here tonight and the food was absolutely delicious. I had lamb kebab, kibbeh and Fatayer Za'atar. All great. Order online and brought outside placed on table for me to pick up. I like that they texted me when my food was ready which was earlier than estimated. I will say the prices are a little higher than I would like for takeout. I ended up spending $30 incl their suggested 10% tip and finished almost everything for dinner. The kubbeh on the menu from 1 yr ago were like $8-9. Today it was 13.99 online and shows photo of 7 pieces. I only received 6. I could spend $10 on killer burrito at Talluah's down the street and $30 here and feel just as full. I think everything but kabobs are little overpriced but I will be back for sure, like next week before I leave PVD. read more

Nice to have the option of decent Middle Eastern food in Providence and I am happy to support new immigrants in their business venture. Food is tasty- chicken kebabs tender and the pita is soft as a pillow. Hummus ok but the Falafel was a huge hit... very nice flavor and not overly heavy or fried tasting. Small but cool atmosphere. My critique is around how they are running it. As others have mentioned, it's a bit confusing as to how order- it takes a moment to understand the system. A bigger issue is that some people are using it as all-day hang out. We were there around 3p this Sunday and had to wait for quite a while for a table to open up. In fact, if not for a lovely young woman who picked up on the fact that we were starving and moved to a smaller table, we might still be waiting. As others here have noted, the owners are probably not too experienced but I hope they will figure out a way to keep people from hogging the tables, especially during busy times. The gentleman working the counter service was very personable, pleasant, and patient while taking our lunch orders and to go orders. We had an array of food from Falafel, Chicken Kabobs, Lentil Soup, Baba Ghanoush, and Kefta Lamb Kabob:s. The baklava is so authentic and a great sweet after your meal or just as a treat which came in several variations... our favorite was one pistachio with chocolate....yummy!! What a wonderful little refuge in Fox Point!! When you walk in you feel like you're transported into an entirely different world with the middle-eastern inspired furniture and backgammon boards stacked up on the shelves. The design on the windows is unlike anything I've seen yet in Providence too. I've been wanting to get over to Aleppo Sweets for a while now, and I'm happy I finally made it this past month. The iced ginger, cardamom, and mint tea is a GAME-CHANGER. I haven't had a tea that refreshing and unique for a while. It's the type of tea you want in a pitcher with a spout so you can come back for a second, third, and fourth helping. :P It's a great place to gather with friends or study/work--there were several groups doing both when I stopped by. Such a nice addition to the neighborhood! The food is absolutely fantastic and the service is friendly. The place was so packed on a Saturday afternoon my boyfriend and I were lucky to get a table. Once you're settled (don't forget to grab utensils/water/napkins) the food comes out fairly quickly and I found the space to be somewhat relaxing. We ordered the hummus, Aleppo pepper fatayer, za'atar fatayer, chicken kabob and blackberry drinks. The aleppo pepper fatayer was by far my favorite, it's spicy and was great to scoop up the hummus with. The chicken kabob also had a nice flavor and the portion was a lot larger than I anticipated - 3 kabobs. Also, I'm not sure what's in the "blackberry drink" but it was like a sweet blackberry juice, regardless it was perfect to pair with all of the savory dishes. They started being known for their baklava, but quickly branches out to a full service dining experience with many savory dishes. The baba ghanoush, for example is bright, fresh, and smoky without any bitterness. Just excellent. The hummus is classically simple yet delicious. The falafel tastes like homemade and the kibbeh is some of the best I've ever had. Their lamb fattayer are very good as well, but even better folded and dipped in a little hummus. The service was a little slow the last two times I went, but when everything is made to order and the restaurant is establishing itself, that makes sense. This is some of the best middle-eastern (eastern mediterranean) food I've ever had. The Tabouleh and Baba Ghanoush were brilliant. They make their Tabouleh with mint as well as the usual ingredients which makes it phenomenally tasty. The BG was smooth and buttery with slightly more of a sesame taste than what I've had. But, unlike with many middle-eastern restaurants that make these dishes, there's no way you could mistake Aleppo Sweets versions with store-bought versions. We also had Chicken Kebabs and Kibbe. The Kebabs were delicious, tender and juicy, and perfectly done with a very tasty marinade. The Kibbe was also quite good, but I've had very good Kibbe in a couple of other places as well. We had stuffed dates for desert: heavenly. Quantity of food was generous. The Chicken Kebab plate was probably better value with its proportionately more generous portions than the Kibbe. Prices were quite reasonable - not dirt cheap - but certainly not overpriced. The decor is nice and cozy and the restaurant holds down costs, by having you place your order at the front counter and then getting your food delivered to your table. You bus your own dishes. The owner got his start as a baker in Aleppo Syria and became a refugee. I will definitely be back to this place and hope to try more deserts. read more

Things to try: FATAYER FLATBREADS- wonderfully spiced with a great crunch. Absolutely loved the taste and texture of the Za'atar bread. Also go for the stuffed dates (very rich, but very good), pairs nicely with some strong Turkish coffee. Talk about some nicely made expresso.
