After visiting our Compadre in Anaheim, my bride and I were starving and craving well made, Halal Mediterranean style cuisine. Luckily we were within a few blocks of the "Little Arabia" segment of Anaheim and had our pick of several top notch restaurants. We chose Aleppo's Kitchen for their gaudy Yelp reviews. We stayed -and will likely return in the future- because of the very good quality of the food and the IMMACULATELY CLEAN interior! For starters, we ordered Cheese Borek (so good my wife and I inhaled the order before I could get a snapshot!), the Cucumber Yogurt and the Vegetable Platter. We award 5 stars for the Cheese Borek, which can be likened to Syrian style egg rolls or cheese blintzes. The cucumber yogurt was vital to our meal, as we deployed it both as a dip for our vegetables/cheese rolls AND as a seasoning for our chicken shawarma. But the vegetable platter, for $6, was a total time waster. For your money, you get a mound of fresh mint (which most Westerners use only for tea or medicinal purposes), 1/2 of a cut tomato, 1/4 of a cut white onion, 1/2 of an English style cucumber and a scattering of green olives (non-pitted). Our entrees were the Chicken Shawarma platter, which features approximately 6 ounces of grilled Shawarma (rotisserie style) chicken, a mound of steamed Basmati rice seasoned with paprika and slivered almonds and a fresh green salad comprised of lettuce, and cubed cucumber, tomato and onion, drenched in a mild vinaigrette type dressing and sprinkled with finely ground black pepper. In retrospect, we were unoriginal for both ordering the same entree. One of us should have at least ordered the Beef Shawarma or perhaps their in-house "Shish Tawook" Chicken Kebab or even their Lamb Kabseh (lamb shoulder served a mound of spiced Basmati rice, accompanied by the eponymous yogurt sauce. While we enjoyed the entrees, neither of us were DANCING at the taste of the chicken shawarma. By itself, it tastes and resembles slightly overcooked, rotisserie chicken ... but LACKING spice or seasoning. Both Leti and I found ourselves repeatedly drenching our chicken and rice spoonfuls with the yogurt dressing in an effort to heighten our flavors! I am convinced that our general "meeehhhh" attitude towards the (tame if not boring) chicken shawarma is mostly OUR mistake. 600+ reviews averaging 4.5 stars cannot be wrong; we just ordered the wrong entree! Lesson learned- Next time we'll be more adventurous w/ our orders! Though we are devout Christians, my bride and I are extremely open minded to other cultures and cuisines- we cannot wait to join our Muslim Brethren to sample the magnificent Iftar (break "fast" during the high, Holy month of Ramadan). Mark your calendar, Foodies, for a FEAST of Aleppian cuisine carefully curated from Syria, Turkey and Armenia: Aleppo's Kitchen will serve their famous Ramadan Iftar Buffet next Ramadan, commencing April 1, 2022! The dessert, however, was an AUTHENTIC REVELATION and the true piece d'resistance of our entire meal! Qutayef is griddled pancakes filled with mildly sweet cream, slathered in golden honey and sprinkled with powdered pistachio. We could have ordered four of these and would have gladly devoured every last bite of it!! Bravo!!! The restaurant and its bathrooms are immaculately clean, even to the point of sparkling. Our arrival seemed to coincide with a staff dinner for waiter Waheem and his colleagues, so a couple of times I had to walk to the cashier stand to get their attention. Overall, we give Aleppo's Kitchen 4 stars. 5 stars for cleanliness and interior decor, 3 stars for cuisine of the dishes we ordered (appetizer and entree), 5 stars for the WONDROUS Qutayef and 3 stars for service that candidly could have been more anticipatory and service-focused. read more

Hmmmm, not sure how to feel. I live in Anaheim, and we always love to try new cuisines and restaurants. This was definitely out of our element. Both the food was good! We made our own bowl with ribeye. Must say I didn't realize the Ribeye was shredded. Lost the quality of the ribeye and not a large portion. Pricing is def high. What needs improvement is service. I am usually always made into a regular with awesome attentive service. The server just lacked hospitality. No smile, no engagement of conversation. The restaurant was empty. The food and service at Aleppo's were great. Our server (can't remember her name, but may have been Rosie) was very friendly and accommodating. They provide a good size portion of food. Ate here yesterday for a friends birthday with 10 of us and the food and service with Brandon was great. Being vegan this was one of the best falafels we've had. We love Egyptian falafels made of fava beans but these made out of chickpeas were the best comparison. The bread/hummus, rice and beet salad was great. This is the Fourth time I eat at Aleppo with my family , the food always great , good service. Never had a problem, I recommend it highly. Only problem I have .: there is something on their menu called "pita" . I don't understand it . While the whole menu is Syrian/arabic food, where does the pita come from . I know the bread in Syria is not called pita or in any other Arab country except in Israel, so why do they use a Hebrew or maybe Greek name or Arabic bread , are they ashamed of calling it Arabic bread?? read more

Busy nights I get it but this place only picks and chooses who they want to sit down when checking in. Reservations or not. The host just decides who he wants to sits first even tho you checked in before any party that was a walk- in. And the reason it such a long wait to be sat is because no one cleans the tables for new patrons. Service is incompetent. Food is at least a 30 minute wait. Asked for a check and to get a to go box, for the server only wanted to close our check and completely forgot to bring us a box after waiting for 10 mins. Let me start off by saying my old review was for the original location in Little Arabia Anaheim where they USED to have great food. This review will be for the new location near the angels stadium. This was by far the worth Arab food I've ever ordered... and the pricing is OUTRAGEOUS. I ordered on Grubhub. First off the shawarma sandwich is $23!! There was no information that said it came with fries. So I ordered the almost $8 fries as well. I asked for garlic sauce on the side.. never came. The sandwich was DRY, with the smallest amount of chicken I have ever seen on a shawarma. The chicken was tasteless, with and in TINY pieces. The bread they use was also terrible, tasted like sandy paper. Don't get me started on the oily cardboard fries. I was SO disappointed with the quality and pricing for the new location. The old location made the best shish tawook and and fatoosh. Not sure what they were thinking with the new menu and absolute insane pricing. read more

My family loves Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food a lot. We have visited many different restaurants. Aleppo is one place I haven't even heard of until a family friend invited us to join them for Father's Day dinner. So our 2 families drove over to Anaheim. It's been ages since I have been to Anaheim. Yup, not even to Disneyland (which is overly overpriced and woke). The area leading up to Aleppo was very clean and beautiful! I felt we were going to be pleased upon arrival and sure it was a really cool, clean, and beautiful family friendly restaurant. The staff were quite warm as well. As it was our first time, our waiter took time to explain what to expect with the dishes we were contemplating on (platters) since we wanted to make sure we ordered enough food for all. We ordered 2 mixed kabob dinner platters, an appetizer platter, beet salad, and 1 mansaf which i f i remember is the lamb dish. The service was very good which matched our mood for Father's Day. The food was equally very good especially the lamb since I don't like lamb due to the gamey taste. But this was not gamey at all! The beef meat was also tender and flavorful. The appetizers sure made our appetite perk up. The flavors compare very well to other good Mediterranean restaurants. A new favortie of mine is the beet salad. This is a MUST try! My wife also ordered Turkish coffee. This version had cardammon which we didn't like at all. Other than that, this place is a new favorite! read more

I almost never leave a 1 star review. This is sad for the owners because I know how incredibly difficult it is to open a restaurant. Their staff must be trained on this. Front guy with tied curly hair and tattoos taking the phone calls and "hosting" customers inside...? Yeah - FIRED or ReTrain him immediately. I had my entire family outside, waiting to be seated. One of my nephews wanted to use the restroom before hand. We walked up to the front, waited a few minutes until the guy with the tied curly hair and tattoos was finished with his phone call, and then proceeded to tell us that we cannot use the restroom. I asked him why, and he told me that it was for paying customers only. I told him I have my entire family waiting outside for us to be seated, he then looked at me and ignored me and that's the reason for this review. This was such a horrible experience at customer service and restaurant hospitality. This person needs to either get retrained or fired because they are not passionate about their work. I would never hire somebody who treats my customers like the way I got treated. No greeting, no smile, being ignored, no customer service, and not allowed to use the restroom while waiting to be seated. That's a new one... By the way, people from Aleppo are definitely not like this person. If anyone had a bad experience, please don't think they are all like this. The Middle Eastern people in the Middle East and their people are/is the most hospitable and polite places on earth. We went to a different middle eastern place down the road. read more

I tried the restaurant about 2 weeks ago. From the time I called to the actual dining experience, I would rate as very good. I called and a very attentive, polite and pleasant young lady by the name of Isabel answered all my questions. Once I arrived with my guest we were seated promptly and the waitress and hostess were polite and friendly. The restaurant is impecable and the design and decor is bright and modern while paying homage to the Syrian heritage and culture. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty and very clean on the palate an indication of freshly made food. I discovered this restaurant via Instagram which can be a miss or hit .Fortunately, this was a winner. We had eaten at Aleppo's Kitchen at their old location on Brookhurst in Anaheim and loved it. It was sort of a "gotta know where to look" location behind another building in a strip mall, and was, to our untrained palate, what we would consider traditional Middle-Eastern food. Ran across their new location on Katella recently, and decided to try it. Being in a more mainstream area, near Anaheim Stadium, hotels and shopping areas, the atmosphere is more... mainstream than the old location. Which, I guess for people who might be from out of the area, or maybe a little intimidated by a traditional Middle-Eastern restaurant experience, a bit more approachable. We tried a few dishes and nabbed a free hummus with a Yelp check-in. Everything was great, from the presentation to the flavors. The staff was very friendly, and the new location is now on our repeat visit list for sure. One interesting note - we are still lamenting the departure of Pita Jungle in Newport Beach, and Aleppo's new location and menu definitely gave us that vibe. If you miss Pita Jungle too, or if you just want great food, give this place a try. read more

Upon walking in we were greeted by a sweet host who brought us to our table right away. The lunch menu has a little something for everyone and was reasonably priced. I ordered the chicken shawarma and it came with yummy crispy fries, garlic sauce, and ketchup my hubby had a chicken bowl and he loved it. It was half rice, half salad with pita bread, tatziki sauce. The bowl was large enough for leftovers. I ate my whole wrap cause it was that yummy! Our server was super sweet and provided great service. Thanks Isabelle! Walking in I was wowed be the decor and cleanliness. I've been to so many different Middle Eastern restaurants and this by far is the nicest and cleanest. Not fancy but cute and modernish. The food came in a reasonable time and the server was somewhat friendly. To start off with the Sujuk Flatbread it arrived luke warm and the cheese was not gooey and melt down as it should be. It seemed to have been sitting for a little while maybe while the other dish was cooking. Not sure but was not hot and fresh. The taste was of a mediocre pizza. The Shish Barak is what I came for as I'm married to a Syrian and have had this made for me and had it also in Syria. This typically is one of my favorite Syrian dishes and I was excited to see a restaurant was making it. To start, the dumplings were doughy, and red pepper flakes?, not sure about that, old tasting pine nuts, and the yogurt sauce was way too thick. The rice was undercooked and lacked any flavor. After eating the dish it left a bad taste in my mouth. I would be willing to pay the price if the food was good but not worth it in my opinion. Very nice place, the food is amazing First appetizers were great, the falafel and humus were very tasteful but top it all was the kebeh nayyeh unbelievable, then we tried the mashawi kebab and assortment of kebeh which are very Aleppo special very yummy. We end it with special tea and sweet house made ashtah that was delicious We met the owner who was very welcoming and very nice and the waiters were all very kind and helpful Not to forget the hookah which was great as well This is how the Syrian people are always very welcoming and super generous and very cheerful I'm glad there's a place here in Anaheim that represent they Syrian culture and amazing Syrian food We will definitely come back here again. read more
