Called to see if they could do a quick fix on a pair of prom shoes- he said to bring them in. We needed more holes punched in the straps. He took them to the back and brought them back in about 3 minutes. And then said "no charge"... I couldn't believe it!! He said " it's just a free service that we offer." Unbelievable! If I could leave zero stars I would. After a miscommunication about a repair. The counter person escalated the incident to horrific proportions. Started yelling and accusing me of calling her a lier. I'm giving 1 star because I can't give 0 stars. I should have read the reviews before taking my shoes in for repair. HORRIBLE customer service. RUDE & NASTY!!!! Did I say HORRIBLE customer service! I took in a pair of shoes to have the soles re-glued. She told me it would be 1 week and had a nasty attitude but I didn't give it much thought at the time. When I picked up the shoes a week later and was walking to my car I noticed the sole was coming loose. I took them back, showed her the left shoe and said this is still loose. She grabbed the shoe from my hand, then disappeared in the back for several minutes, came back out and tossed the shoe on the counter and said "Leave the shoe alone and don't pull on it for at least one day" then turned around and walked into the back without saying another word. I hope they don't rely on repeat business because I can't imagine anyone going there a second time. They will never see me again! read more

I just had to cancel my order with this horrible business because they missed the deadline they gave me by over four days! The woman I spoke to was very rude and said things like "I'm sorry you feel that way" and other passive-aggressive phrases. When I dropped off my shoe we talked about how I was taking a trip out of the country and I needed my shoes before then and she said that was no problem! Then the day comes and I get no call, and when I finally do call myself she was rude, never accepted responsibility, and eventually hung up on me! I can tell you nothing has changed! Let me begin this by saying how insanely important good customer is to me when making a decision to give a service based organization my business. This holds true for me all of the time but especially when it is a service provider specializing in something I know nothing or very little about. That said, the ability to communicate is paramount! SO a major part of the decision making dynamic for me is clear, professional and gracious communication. I've been looking for a good place to have some of my favorite shoes repaired. In one afternoon I visited or called NO LESS than 5 local area shoe repair locations. With each one I either encountered someone that (a) I couldn't understand a word they were saying, (b) was incredibly rude , (c) was appalled that I wanted something done within the time frame I was requesting or (d) a combination of the above. In the instance with Alex Shoe Repair in Upper Arlington it was all of the above. I was spoken to rudely, told if I wanted service that day I had to get my shoes there within 30 minutes because they were closing early and they couldn't make any promises to have them done within the time frame I requested. When I asked when they could have them done I was told "it depends" to my reply upon what I received "need to see the shoes" - mind you I was having tips replaced on the heal. TIPS not the heel themselves. I was stunned as they had been recommended by some people I know that have used them before. I later learned upon sharing my story with them that there has apparently been a change in either management or ownership. Apparently not a change for the better which is sad because as I understand it, Alex's was a service staple in the UA community for a number of years. I was lucky enough to happen upon information that Enchanted Shoe Repair was opening a Hilliard location the very day I was looking for someone. I called and was greeted by a pleasant voice - THAT I COULD UNDERSTAND on the other end of the phone which I later learned was Jeff White, the Cobbler/Store manager. i explained the type of repair I needed and the time frame in which I was hoping to have it done. Unlike the rude & put off response I received from the employee at Alex's, I was not made any promises but very graciously encouraged to visit so he could evaluate my need. I arrived at the store within 10 minutes and an hour later my repairs were done beyond my expectation and at an affordable price. I am thrilled to have FINALLY found someone that not only provides great customer service but seems to have an immense pride in what they do! Under New Ownership & the couple that bought it are AS RUDE AS RUDE can be!! DON'T GO!! Go to Grandview shoe & luggage repair instead!! I ran in near closing time on a Saturday. After explaining to the woman who greeted me what the prblm was she called for her husband (I'm guessing), the owner, to lend his "expertise." It was the most awful, rude, uncomfortable, not to mention embarrassing, position I've been in, in a while. I felt like I was standing in the middle of someone's living room while they were having a fight. He begrudgingly stomped up to the front counter then looked at me angrily as if to say, 'How Dare I come into his place of business 15 mins before closing!' His exact words were, "What do you want." needless to say I wound up exchanging a few unpleasantries before storming out. #1) Clearly this man doesn't have the disposition to be in cst service. #2) Your published store hrs should be 'Good Mood' / 'Bad Mood' instead of by the clock if you're gonna act like a complete cad before closing. #3) My daughter was extremely ill & it was the 1st time in days I'd been able to leave her, so yes, I ran out of the house quickly thinking it would be a short trip. First the big guy who has helped me twice has no clue what customer service is. Both times he made me feel like I was bugging him by asking simply for help. Then this last time I dropped off my wife's one pair of heels on Monday and was told they would be ready on Sat. Mind you she only needed the one small heal replaced. My wife shows up on Saturday with her tix but to her surprise, not only could they not find them, but when they finally did, they were sitting under the pile of shoes they were throwing and I mean throwing the incoming repairs on. So yes, they didn't even fix them. Worse service ever. Dont know how places like this stay in business but they will not be having our patronage ever again and if you care about being treated like your business is appreciated they shouldn't get yours either. read more

Excellent customer service!! I was in need of an emergency (less than 24 hour) repair bc the heel tip came off of one of my go to important professional event pumps. I came in late in the day and needed the shoes ready by noon the following day. The owner's daughter was so kind and helpful and quickly confirmed with her dad that he would be able to make the repair. The repair was perfect and on time and she even called to check on me when my husband was a couple minutes late for the pickup. I really, really appreciate their willingness to help me out in a pinch and will use them for all future shoe repair needs! read more

Always a quality product! I take all my shoes for maintenance and repair here. While the owner is not "warm and fuzzy", he is professional and a craftsman. He put a new sole and heel on my grandmothers vintage booties, and they are like new! Turnaround time is great. I often get a polish while I wait. Shoes looked terrible at pickup & I was treated so unbelievably rude by the woman who said she was part of the "new ownership" at the Tremont location that I will never return. When I asked about all the scuffing/glue?/marks upon pickup I was treated so rudely it was baffling. She was verbally aggressive & combative. I really didn't know how to respond but I remained calm while she cleaned the shoes up & told her not to worry I'll never be back. AWFUL. POOR WORKMANSHIP. RUDE. Had to take shoes back three times and they refused to make it right or refund my money and wanted to charge me again for their poor workmanship. The lady at the "branch" nasty and refused to give me the address where I could have the shoemaker do the fitting. Shoemaker not on site. She had done it three times; first with a tape measure, second time with paper clips and last time with needle and thread. WARNING: DON'T GO HERE. read more

Took in a pair of Cole Haan heels to have the heel caps replaced. I did not even make it to my office after having them returned, and one of the heel caps had fallen off. Made for a very awkward day with clients....I went somewhere else to have a new heel cap put on. I do not recommend this place due to poor workmanship. read more

The storefront is messy and depressing. The clerk is unfriendly. The repair was done poorly and two days after the promised date. The older couple who used to own the shop were sweet, and this is a local business, but I think I'll take my shoes elsewhere. read more

HORRIBLE! As a fellow UA alum, I love to still use the local businesses. Not in this case. Dave, one of the owners has been rude and not clear in the time it would take to repair my boot. I dropped off my boot and was told it would take a week to get it. It would be finished right after thanksgiving. I waited a week before I stopped by to get it. Nope not ready, the guy who does the zippers wasn't in. Stopped by again a few weeks later, nope not done now their sewing machine broke. Each time not saying when they expected my boot to be finished. Meanwhile I am 8.5 months pregnant and have a toddler and go on maternity leave. My mother stopped in there and told her it wasn't done yet. My sister called and they said it wasn't done yet. More than a month later they call and say it was finished. I have a friend pick it up for me after I received a NASTY phone call to come get the boot now because it's been there too long, ha. Finally, Dave said that it was never going to be done in a week like quoted and that they meant a month from the ticket date. Had they only mentioned that the five times I called/stopped in there then it wouldn't been a different story. Dave, I will never come to your store again. You must work on your customer service it sucks! And I still had to pay full price after all. Worst ever!! read more

My first time using this place and I will never give them my business again. I brought in a pair of boots on 12/23/2017 to get new soles. I was told they would be ready in one week. The day they were supposed to be ready (12/30) I get a phone call from a woman to let me know that they had to order the soles and it would take another two weeks meaning the boots should be ready on 1/13/2018. She said she would call to let me know they were done. That day comes and goes, 3 more days pass and still no word. So today (1/16/2018), I called to find out the status. I give her all my info and she says she has to call the other store and will call me back. She calls back to tell me it's going to be another week!!! At this point I am not happy at being given the run around. I ask why it will be another week and she says they just got the soles in. I say I should get a discount for my inconvenience and promises for service that have not been kept. At this point she starts getting angry and yelling at me that no you won't get a discount, she can't control the mail, and that I am being rude, and hangs up on me. What awful customer service. My suggestion to anyone looking for a shoe repair is not to use these people. They are rude, unreliable, and do not know how to treat customers. I would give zero stars if I could! read more
