Wanted to take a moment to tell everyone how awesome this place is! We were looking for a nice restaurant to host my father in laws birthday, and we were looking for a private dining experience. Not a ton of options out there, and the ones that we did find were booked up. We had heard of Alexander Pierce from friends, and had been looking to try it. My wife called and they said their rooms for hosting a group our size were booked, but had we considered a screen room. We asked what the heck a screen room was, and they told us it was a private dining room, can hold up to six people, and it came with a free movie rental on them. We were dining with our toddler, so we thought, why not? Something to keep him entertained. So the day comes, and we arrive. They take us to this room, and it has a table set for six people, a private bathroom, and a little tv on the wall. I was thinking okay, kinda gimmicky, but no big deal. The waiter showed us around the room, and I had missed a curtain when we walked in. He pulled back the curtain, and there was a "movie theater" room in the back. One whole wall was the screen, surround sound, leather recliners. Just really cool. We had pre ordered some apps, Bruschetta Flatbread and a Stuffed Meatball. Really, really good! The meatball was our favorite! Their homemade tomato sauce is so good! The waiter had given us a buzzer, and pretty much left us alone except to check on drinks, so we buzzed him and he came right away to order dinner. I ordered the Aukra Salmon, which was served with blistered tomatoes, spinach and a fresh citrus buerre blanc. I also opted for a wedges salad and crispy Brussel sprouts! Everything was absolutely wonderful! The salmon was cooked perfectly, the buerre blanc adding nice hits of acid, along with the slightly charred tomatoes. The brussel sprouts had a bit of heat to them, were crunchy and charred, just great! Everyone else opted for different types of pasta except my father in law. The pasta is made in house and everyone enjoyed it a lot. My father in law ordered the pork chop, which came with a bourbon fig glaze. He wasn't able to finish it, so we all were able to take a bite. It may have been the best piece of pork I've ever eaten! Seasoned well, smokey bourbon with sweet fig, tender, juicy, perfection! Now onto dessert! My wife ordered for the table and we split everything. Delicious cheesecake, one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had, and stuffed beignets. Wow, what a meal! We finished dinner and still had time to go watch a movie in the back. Really, really wonderful experience! read more

Entree: Bone in Ribeye w/ Crispy Brussels Sprout Who doesn't like steak? We've been eyeing this restaurant for a while and finally made it out for Valentines Day. Started with the stuffed meatball and we devoured it, absolutely delicious!!! Next the side salad with an amazing white French dressing. The steak... the steak is why I came and why I'll go back. Cooked to perfection and perfectly paired with the honey sriracha Brussels spout. This review is from the hubs and so happy he enjoyed it because the pasta was amazing and I want to go back for more and more and more!!! The service here is exceptional!!! The vibe is cool and you won't be disappointed. If it weren't for the crisis we are in right now we would be here like everyday!!! Entree: Bolognese Pasta Bowl I am usually a fan of a darker red sauce so when the dish came out I was a little disappointed but after my first bite I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the thicker noodles and they were cooked on point! I would have liked more noodles with the sauce (because I am greedy that way) and the option to add a meatball but it was great and I would order this again! The Meatball App was amazing and I will order that every time! The bread came out warm and was an added bonus! What I loved most about this place was the service. Desiree was a delight and she was very attentive and took great care of us! We had several people come over and ask us how we were and how the food was. They held the door for us when we came in and when we left and they even took a Valentines Day pic and printed it and gave it to us in a cute frame! I called about seeing the facility for a small wedding vow exchange and dinner. I met with Mindy who is responsive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. At the end of the tour, my daughter and I had lunch and it was perfect from beginning to end. Our server was very attentive and our glasses were always full. My daughter has a vegan diet and didn't have a hard time finding something. She opted for a flatbread pizza, minus cheese. I was instantly drawn to the warm spinach salad which was delicious. It had the perfect amount of dressing and everything else. Portions were on par and the prices were inline with the quality. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. They are very hospitable and we will return for our wedding. We are getting married in their ballroom and having guests stay in the suites which are amazing! Other reviewers commented that it isn't easy to find. Instead of looking for a sign that sticks out perpendicular to the building, look for "797" in big numbers on the front of the building. Well my boyfriend surprised me for our 1 yr anniversary here and I was blown away. From our private tour to a dozen roses waiting at our table. Everything was delicious! After a not so great experience back in October, we decided to give Alexander Pierce another chance. We had a lovely dinner last night. Desiree, our server, was excellent and attentive to our needs. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. You enter this space through a narrow lane off East Market street, it's hard to spot... once you make it to the ample off street rear parking lot, you begin to realize this may be worth the hunt. They have a cool patio-deck area which could be used for outdoor seating in warmer months. The reception and bar area is small but the tin ceiling and decorations give a cool vibe... also; since it does not have high ceilings it somehow seems more intimate. We had the scallops... Very cool new gem in Akron. It's in a neighborhood that I never would think to visit, but so worth a trip. The service was fantastic. Our server was Lindsay and she was great! We had the charcuterie appetizer, as well as the meatball. There were three of us, and I wish that the one large meatball would have been formed into three smaller meatballs to make it a little less awkward. The charcuterie was fantastic. My one friend had the pork chop which he loved, and my other friend had the pasta bolognese. It was a bit al dente, but he also had a side of the mashed potatoes, which I tasted, and they were delicious. I had a salad that was featured as a special that night, with grilled shrimp on top. The shrimp was very peppery and salty, but the salad itself, with the house dressing was delicious. I also had a loaded baked potato, which was huge and very good. We had the banana bread pudding for dessert, and it was pretty yummy. Cute ambiance and nice service. I would love to come back and try something else. read more

I went here with 3 other friends to get together right before the holidays. The entrance is a little weird but walking to the door it's beautiful and classy with decorations. I love the atmosphere of this place and it was an amazing experience. We started off sharing a charcuterie board, then had our salads, our entrees and then dessert. We all got the scallops with were cooked perfectly, none of us were too big of a fan of the cauliflower rice that the scallops were sitting on. For dessert we have the french little dough. Overall the server was fantastic and it was a great experience, I just with the scallops came with something other than the cauliflower rice. read more

Wow! What a wonderful experience during these crazy times in 2020. Walked into live music playing from a one man band who sang beautifully. Was promptly seated in a booth in the back and greeted by our lovely waitress. Drinks were served, bread was brought and all was great. Everything at this place is top notch. Our food was amazing. Some girlfriends and I decided to try AP!!! I love the ambiance of the place. We chose to eat outside which was nice. Everything was clean tablecloths chairs silverware and glasses. The food was ok our waiter very tall and handsome suggested a drink let me tell you this drink was soooo strong I grew hair on my chest lol Overall it's nice for Akron anyways. Some patrons told us they were given a tour of the restaurant and there's a hotel and movie theater on second & third floor but I personally didn't see it. I had the stuffed meatball appetizer it was ok a salad it was good a big chunk of the driest carrot cake I've ever had (it was a huge piece but it should be for $14) Not sure if I'll go back but it was good being outside eating with friends again!!!! read more

Such a special place hidden away in the historic middlebury neighborhood. The optical illusion that is their entrance makes a perfect impression. Service is professional yet warm, the food is made with love. I would like to see more options for the gluten free crowd, but this will certainly be a spot we will return to for all special occasions! read more

First time dining here.....the food and the service was amazing! We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, which were the best we have ever had. A hidden gem in downtown Akron. Service is top notch and food was excellent across the board. You are paying for a 5 star dining experience and definitely receive it. We started with the crispy Brussels app - amazing. Prime filet, king crab, Frutti di Mare were main courses and all delicious. If you like a good filet, the prime filet is a must try. Oh goodness where do I start? Come to this place ready to spend money! Everything is so absolutely delicious, that you will not be able to stop yourself. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the staff makes it even more inviting! We started off with the meatball appetizer and we could not have eaten it faster! Although looking back, I wish we had more room for everything! Next came the local salad and bread. Rosemary bread is always going to be a win in my book and you can't go wrong with a fresh green salad. I opted for the pork chop, my boyfriend choosing the strip steak. The meat was perfectly cooked and the sides were excellent. I believe the dark horse is the sautéed spinach and garlic. I got this a side in addition to my truffle fries but this could easily be shared with someone else! The pairing with my pork chop was very good! We ended the evening with the beignets and it could not have gone better. My favorite with the hazelnut filling while my boyfriend favored the vanilla. This place is perfect for date nights, birthdays, or any intimate occasion. Our server, Lindsay, was the sweetest human ever and took so much care of us! We had been here pre-pandemic and enjoyed it so much, we decided it would be one of our first dinners out. We came here on a Saturday night for Valentine's Day. We had a reservation and when we arrived, they told us they were going to seat us in the vault....we followed the hostess through a back hallway past the kitchen into the "the vault". Sounds like it's a vip area, but looks like a cheap hotel banquet room to me. We didn't sit down and asked to be seated in a booth. She instantly took us back to a booth right near the bar and the live music. I'm glad we asked to move, or that could have ruined our entire experience. The live music from Rolando was great and provided a great atmosphere. He interacted with everyone and seemed to really enjoy performing there. We started off with the mussels, raw oysters and a bottle of Lancaster cuvee. This is a great wine at a great price ($69 here and $85 retail). The mussels came in a very flavorful broth and we ended up asking for more bread to soak it up. These were some of the best mussels I've ever had. My wife enjoyed the oysters and said they were fresh and had a great sauce on the side. For dinner I had the salmon with sprouts and wilted spinach and she had the bucatini bolognese. The salmon was cooked perfect (medium rare) and the sprouts were delicious. My wife enjoyed the fresh bucatini and bolognese sauce. For dessert my wife ordered the beignets. They came 3 to an order with 3 different fillings and chocolate and raspberry dipping sauces. In our opinion they were too oily. We really couldn't taste much but the oil. Wouldn't order these again. Our waitress was friendly, but not the most attentive. She walked by several times not noticing when we had empty wine glasses. A gentleman, who appeared to be a manager, stopped and refilled our wine glasses and said he was surprised to see that happen. Not that we need someone to pour our wine, but servers at this class of restaurant are typically more attentive to this. Overall we love this place and it will remain in our rotation of go-to spots for a nice dinner out. read more

We went to celebrate my 60th birthday. Our first time. The atmosphere was very nice. And the prices reflect that. Which we were ok with that at first. We were seated in the bar area (not ideal as our servers make the drinks for the restaurant as well) so that really slowed up our service on all levels. We sat for 20 minutes before we were asked if we wanted bread. I got the chefs special (chicken and waffles) which consisted of 2 very thin and small waffles, 3 small breaded chicken tenders, very small amount of collard greens and a large puddle of sauce for $35!!!!!! Big disappointment. My husband got the sirloin and enjoyed that. As I mentioned we had servers ( yes 2 servers). The gals were very nice however for the prices and as upscale as the restaurant is we felt there was no flow to our meal. We gave ourselves plenty of time for dinner before our show and due to how slow each step was we had to eat fast. Pack up some food and go. Wish I had taken a pic of my dish. Just know stay home save the $130 and make yourself a nice dinner at home. read more

What a disappointment. My wife's birthday was yesterday and I had read a lot of wonderful reviews on this new restaurant so I .booked a table for four at 8pm through Open Table. On the reservation I noted it was a birthday and that we'd like a booth. When we arrived we were originally placed in a table in the middle of floor, between the restroom entrance and a door marked "service entrance". There were two booths unoccupied right next to that table but when I asked if we could have one of those I was told by the hostess "no, they are reserved and cannot be released because of the time of our reservation" (whatever that means). An older gentlemen saw we were unhappy and moved us to a much nicer table in the bar area. Once seated our waiter came over and took our drink orders which we waited about 30 minutes to receive. The place was busy but it seemed like our order was forgotten for a bit. Then when we did finally get our drinks my order was wrong. I had ordered an Old Fashioned but received a Manhattan. By the time we saw the waiter again (about 10 more minutes) to place our order I gotten tired of waiting and started my cocktail but did point out to him it wasnt what I ordered. He began by insisting that no, I said Manhattan but everyone at my table corrected him and said "he definitely said Old Fashioned".. The offer was made to take the drink I did have back and replace it but I didnt want to wait another 30 minutes so I kept it. Appetizers were pretty good and came out quickly (we had the Calamari & Brussel Sprouts) although the Calamari was a bit dry and didnt have much flavor. Salads were fine (again nothing very special and only two dressing choices - balsamic vinegar or white French) and came out promptly. Main courses were the major failure though of the evening. I ordered the bone-in Ribeye, medium rare. I was presented a Ribeye with no bone and medium well done (very little pink). My wife ordered the Filet Mignon well done (I know, I know) and was presented with what I could only describe as something that looked (and tasted) like a flank steak as it was very flat and wide and looked nothing like a Filet I've ever seen. Neither had much flavor (we added the horseradish dressing to compensate) and were quite bland. One of our guests had the house special Squab and while she didnt complain I couldnt help but notice she didnt eat any of it and basically just moved the food around her plate. Our other guest had the Pork Chops and said they were very good so there's that. Ironically the only person on the wait staff who was personable and talkative to us was a young man clearing the dishes and my wife noticed he got scolded by the hostess for spending too much time at our table. Spent $400 including tip to have a poor meal for my wife's birthday. And couldnt help but notice that one of the two booths we were told we couldnt have sat empty the entire night. This is a hidden gem in Akron! We got a gift card to AP and had never even heard of the restaurant. Wow!!! It's a little unassuming but has a wow factor when you walk into the outdoor entrance and then into the restaurant. The service is the best around...hands down. Julie was our server and she is first class!!! The hostess was friendly and very accommodating. The manager was also there to make sure you had a good experience. Now to the food... amazing!!! The Brussels sprouts were out of this world. I had the salmon and potato for dinner and it was cooked to perfection. My husband got the pork chop and gave it a 10 out of 10. Discovered this new restaurant in Akron and it definitely felt like a hidden gem. It's a little hard to find...there is a small sign out front identifying the restaurant...but once you find it, the back entrance sets the feel for what you're about to walk into. The menu is a little pricey but the quality of food is one of the best in the area... Between the two of us, we had the Cavatelli alla Vodka with Chicken, and the Ribeye Frites. Both meals were delicious. The salads were okay, pretty small for the price. The ambiance is cozy and I loved it. The service was spectacular and our waitress was so friendly. Excited to return. We were looking for a new place for date night, and we ended up finding our new go-to restaurant! Atmosphere: The parking lot is very brightly lit and there are clear signs on how to enter the restaurant. The LCD upfront was also helpful if you were going rogue with a GPS. The entry is GORGEOUS and the inside matches the prohibition theme. I feel like the theme is executed well without being cheesy. Food: One word, HEAVEN. From the seafood to the pasta and my husband's steak- everything was perfect. The presentation on the plates was beautiful and the taste matched. I can't even pick a favorite and am excited to come back and try everything on the menu. Drinks: My husband got the signature 797 cocktail and loved it. I stayed with wine and they had a comprehensive list. Everyone else seemed pretty happy with their drinks too. Service: MY FAVORITE. They were kind and attending, but not intruding. You could tell they had their eye on us without having to interrupt our conversation to ask how it was going. I cannot tell you how much of a difference that made.
