We recently tried Fronimo's in downtown Canton and had a great experience. The place was busy, so service was a little slow, but honestly, it gave us more time to relax and enjoy the evening. The menu had a solid selection! We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were a bit more on the "fried" side than the tomato flavor coming through, but still very tasty and I'd order them again. I had the scallop special with rice pilaf, and they were hands down the most tender scallops I've had in years. My wife had the pork cutlets, which were excellent. We don't often eat downtown but wanted to try this restaurant out. It's a small establishment consisting of high top tables and a bar. Most of the patrons seemed to be seated at the bar. The server who greeted us was warm and welcoming and the young lady who took care of was polite. She used a piece of paper to go over the small plate specials as there were more on her list than on the menu. Glasses of water arrived with quickness and our beverages came shortly thereafter. My pint of Blue Moon came with a pour about an inch and a quarter from the top and below temperature. I find that when you see over 8 handles from one horizontal tower you lose temperature control on the first pour. We started off with some small plates: Spanakopita Eggrolls- which included your traditional flavor and a wonton wrapper and they were okay. The Special Small Plates- Honey Walnut Shrimp arrived with Brussel Sprouts which weren't advertised but we were okay with. This sweet dish was very not sugar friendly and the shrimp lacked crispness. In fact the coating was so soggy that the batter just came off when picking it up. The pricey Vietnamese shrimp and crab cakes (Small Pates) were also average. You definitely picked up on the amount of filler at first bite and also noticed that the center was not at temperature and too creamy. Our main dishes showed and my wife opted for the Special Main: Cod, but she thought it was so so especially at the price charged. My Pork Chop was cooked to my requested temperature and needed some help with the salt and pepper shaker. The accompanying pasta was very firm and had enough Olive Oil on the plate to to help out the pasta. The green beans were fine. There was no dessert for us, but our server used her trusty paper to give us the run down on their desserts. I boxed up my remaining leftovers and paid the check. Fronimo's is a Canton favorite of ours. Consistently good for over 8 years, we often find ourselves coming here when we visit Canton. Their menu is solid but they also offer many great daily specials. Follow their Facebook page to keep up with hat there serving each day. My husband and I wound up here yet again last Saturday after not being able to find a table at another spot downtown. Fronimo's isn't huge but they do take reservations and they have a long bar too. All seating is high top so if you have trouble getting up into a higher chair, this wouldn't be the place for you. We always order the veal meatballs with grilled hot peppers and garlic toast. This alone is big enough for a meal for one. We also ordered the tempura batter swordfish bites that were lightly battered, flaky, and had excellent flavor, and the butternut squash flatbread with balsamic glaze. Everything was excellent. Service is attentive and the ambiance is warm and cozy but a bit loud - this is a get eat place to meet friends for dinner and serves for a date night but if you want quiet romance, this isn't it. This place is decent. The menu items are standard food items that are slightly elevated. This is a good neighborhood restaurant for anyone that is craving a no frills restaurant. They also had a cocktail menu! I ordered two appetizer items which were very tasty. I was shocked with the amount of food I received with my order of the meatballs. Horrible experience. The waitress (Reavyn) was the worst waitress ever. I asked for the special $3 margarita and she brought me a tiny one (smallest margarita I have ever seen) and said it was smaller because it was better alcohol and that it was a $5 special. When the check came that teeny tiny margarita was on there for $12. We didn't notice until the next day. Also, we had to flag her down every time we needed something because she was chatting at the end of the bar. There was only one other table in the place so she was not busy. I get worried every time I find a restaurant in downtown Canton that I really like. It's almost always here today, gone tomorrow. Thankfully (fingers crossed) Fronimo's has actually become the exception to the rule! This is now their sixth year downtown; and it doesn't look like they're going anywhere! Which is good for you, because this place is fantastic. Let's start with the drinks. Smart, creative, and well executed cocktails. A little bit of everything. My personal go-to is the maple bacon old fashioned. Perfect every time. Entrees are often changing, with a good seasonal rotation of menu options. A few of my personal favorites have been the bone in Tomahawk, the jumbo sea scallops, their house chicken sandwich, and basically any of their appetizers. they also have really good fresh cut fries. Their only downfall, and calling it a downfall isn't even fair; it's just that the desserts have never been quite as good as everything else for my personal palette. Maybe it is because I am too picky, or maybe it's because I'm usually so stuffed full of alcohol and food, that desserts can never fully be appreciated. They also frequently are out of my first choice for dessert, and I've been stuck with second and third options. Just means my first choice was probably right. Touché. Overall, this place is a can't miss culinary attraction in downtown Canton. I had the lamb burger plus mushrooms and onions, 14 bucks without + stuff, 19 bucks with + stuff, definitely try the plus stuff. I was in search of a good dirty burger (you know, that fatty juicy beef burger cooked on an old grill that has that old grill flavor; that dirty burger) never did I consider an alternative to the dirty burger I knew and loved until I came across the Fronimo's lamb burger. The rosemary along with the tang of the feta gives this burger a twist that I wouldn't have thought possible with a dirty burger, it's clean, juicy, and refreshing, but it still has that dirty burger feel, I will be running through their menu. Ok so, we wanted to venture downtown Canton because let's face it, Belden Village is the go to spot in the Canton area. I like being different. The restaurant window boasts "Steaks and Chops". It should say, one steak option and one chop option. I chose neither as I prefer ribeye over strip and it was absent from the menu. The server, Susan didn't introduce herself, I had to ask her name. I ordered the grilled romaine with shrimp and was disappointed that I only received 3 shrimp. The salad was tasty, the presentation was terrible! It was just throw on my plate. read more

I have heard a lot of good things about this place and decided to give it a try on a cold evening in Ohio. We were greeted and seated quickly and the waitress was prompt and did a very good job taking care of us. I was a little disappointed in the wine list and even the selections by the glass were not mainstream wines and really not very good. I ordered the ribeye and my wife ordered the famed pork chop and both came with risotto and green beens. Our server brought us our food (no salads with the main course and no bread...very strange). I received a very nice looking ribeye and the double cut pork chop was a nice size chop with a light searing. My steak was perfectly cooked and it was ok. It was just ok. What it really lacked was a lot of flavor. For a $33 steak, I expect a well seared and well prepared steak. It was just ok. It was not black angus nor was it anywhere close to a prime cut of steak. I was really disappointed that the flavor was very lacking. The risotto was a romano based dish instead of the normal parmesan cheese and it was ok. The rice was way, way to well done and mushy and long strands of onions were really strong. Not bad, just different. Lastly, my wife's pork chop was good. She said that it lacked the flavor and tasted charred. She would have liked more flavor then just the burnt char on a med-rare chop. The green beens were AWESOME......but we only got 5 beens on each plate.... Overall, I might try this place again but I have to say that after paying $75 for dinner I have to say I felt disappointed. read more

You MUST try this new spot! Delicious food and great atmosphere! The restaurant is easy to find in downtown Canton and there is free parking next door. The four of us enjoyed a variety of dishes including the banana peppers and veal meatballs for appetizers (both were delicious!). We also had the lamb burger, the hamburger and the lamb shanks with risotto. Everyone was very happy with their food and all of us would definitely dine there again b/c there were so many great menu items! The folks that work there are SO friendly and really helpful.
