As a destination, Alexander Pierce is a breath of fresh air for the Akron area, it's got a cool Speakeasy kind of vibe, hidden away in the rear of the building and nicely decorated. Host, server, manager and other wait staff were excellent and very attentive, I would be hard pressed to find any issues with service. Our appetizer was wonderful, a bit spendy, but wonderful. We started with the seafood stack, King Crab, Lobster, Oysters, etc. Being a laboratory person, I was a bit taken aback by the transfer pipettes being used for sauce droppers because I'm used to using those for icky stuff, not food. My Pork chop was cooked to perfection, my wife's Langostino pasta dish was excellent. Now the only kind of average parts; I'm guessing because of COVID they use butcher paper on the table tops, this kind of cheapens the look and the side dishes were good, but nothing to make one swoon or look forward to on a repeat visit. Summary: a near perfect evening, having our meals served by Pierce was delightful, he's a keeper. Service was great and we will certainly be back, as stated earlier, it's a welcome retreat and a leap above most of what Akron has to offer. Side note: it's fairly wheelchair friendly, as with almost all Ohio establishments, the threshold is a tad bit high, so some fighting to get a gimpy person like me in the door, but the Host was very helpful and with not much effort we gained access without drawing a crowd. :-) read more

The restaurant opened just 6 weeks ago. It was located on the east side of Akron, in the residential building. Although I have liked the place and food, the restaurant needs to have improvements. First minus was difficulty to see the sign of the restaurant- it would helpful if the stronger light direct you where to go. Next, parking also needed extra lightening bf at dark it looked intimidating. The entrance and patio to the restaurant looked beautiful- can't wait summer nights at the patio. The interior of the restaurant reminded old 60-70 times. On the walls, there were plenty pictures of mafia figures, past famous actresses and singers. I felt cozy inside but in the same time, the interior didn't impressed me. The best thing was service. Our serves was Damian- energetic bartender/ waiter. Damian helped us to choose the right items on the menu and gave brief history of the building and the restaurant. Also, Damian re did our cocktails that in the first time were not the best done. We ordered shrimps and calamari for the appetizers. For the entrees, I got sea bass and boyfriend chose salmon. I was totally satisfied with my choices although calamari were slightly over salted. In the end, I can see a potential in this place but needs some improvement starting from the better sign outside, lighting, new items on the menu, and better training in the cocktail making. Our whole visit was wonderful. Food and drinks were amazing. The lavender cocktail was perfect, well crafted, and boozy. We had Brussels and the meatball as appetizers and they were delicious. Our French Onion Soup was out of this world good! Even the dinner bread was great. My steak and scallops were very good and the steak was cooked perfectly. My husband had the pork chops, and he loved them. Juicy, moist, and well prepared. Staff was playful and attentive. We will definitely be back. read more

It was a treat for my Mom in the middle of the week. She chose this restaurant neither one of us had dined here before. We didn't know what to expect , when we pulled in the parking lot we were just a little concerned. So we pulled to the back and found the sign. As we started walking towards the entry door we felt like we were in an little villa very charming. Once inside we were so pleasantly pleased. The ambiance is everything, the staff was absolutely wonderful, full of information, suggestions and knowledge of the owner and his vision for the establishment. I had a filet and my mom had grouper both dishes were delicious. I should say do not order the chocolate cake for one, it took me four days to finish it. We had an excellent belated Mother's Day dinner at Alexander Pierce on May 12th. Within minutes of sitting down Julie served us a celebratory champagne toast, and I had to ask what type of champagne it was because it was that good. The food was excellent all around - i definitely recommend the brussel sprouts appetizer and the chicken bruschetta. The walleye was also superb! One of the best dining experiences I believe in my life. The drinks and food were perfection and the service is top notch. I ordered a cosmopolitan which was made w a generous poor (delicious) As for food we ordered charcuterie board and the mussels. The mussels were huge and the white wine sauce superb. We had the steak which I'll admit was a bit over cooked, however the management was eager and quick the remake the dish without me even asking, and to top it off bought us a round of drinks on their tab. We recently visited Alexander Pierce for the first time. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were able to take advantage of some happy hour specials, as well as ordering various small plates and one entree. Every plate was delicious and presented with elegance. Came here for my birthday dinner with a group of friends. We were greeted by the friendly staff and were sat in a small private room off the dining area. This was a great area for a group our size (9) and it made the night even better. We all ordered cocktails which were great, as well as appetizers. The featured stuffed pepper appetizer was incredible as well as the brussels sprouts. Some of my friends said it was the best meal they've had in a long time and were already planning to come back before we even finished our meals. My entrée scallops were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The chef even stopped out to our table to check on us and several people asked him to share his recipes! Our party ended up ordering three strip steaks all three were to be cooked medium one was cooked medium to were cooked rare. I sent my steak back it came back out exactly the same. it was a cool bright red center with pink above and below. at $60 a steak, I expect it to be right. I always get comments about the location when I tell people to go here, but this place could be located inside a dentist office and I would still want to go, its that good! Decided to try this place out to celebrate my 26 year wedding anniversary with my wife. Made reservations and when we arrived we were greeted and immediately taken to our seats and that was the best thing that happen to us in the 20 minutes we waisted there! For starters we were placed in a corner which in the beginning I didn't give it a second thought . Once a couple was seated at the table right next to ours, they were immediately greeted by their server who proceeded to explain to them all the great drink specials and deals of the evening. We sat patiently waiting to be greeted for 15 minutes before even being acknowledged. In the course of this 15 minutes, at least 3 parties were greeted and taken to their seats and had drink orders taken and delivered. The manager (I'm assuming) finally came over and asked "has anyone been over to greet you?" After we told him no, he offered us a nice "bubbly" for the inconvenience. At that point the damage was done and I decided to celebrate my anniversary at another establishment. It's more than ridiculous that it's 2020 and as a black couple in Akron, Ohio we have to deal with being treated as second class citizens. I encourage any African American person to not dine here and instead, go spend your money where you will be treated with the same respect as everyone else! Others may have gotten the message because at the time we were there, we were the only black patrons. Before I receive the standard response from the restaurant with apologies or explanations when a bad review comes in, I will say that the manager did call us after the fact and pleaded with us to come back but the damage was done. Do they think we want to eat there when you've already shown how important we were to you as compared to other customer? No way! Sad, sad experience. Needless to say, we will not go back or recommend this place to others. read more

I would go to Alexander Pierce, once a week before the Pandemic. Loved the food and drinks! On Mother's Day, I received the WORST meal (paid approximately $100.00). I called to complain, didn't get an answer (I'm sure they were busy) sent an email, received a response but nothing was done in terms of a credit for my meal. Customer service was definitely lacking and I haven't been to Alexander Pierce since that experience. read more

The private "cloakroom" experience is not to be missed (you can even take dinner there). The beat restaurant I've found in Akron. Nowhere else can you find dollar oysters on a happy hour deal! The seafood is just heavenly. I thought I knew how proper salmon should taste, but then I had the Aukra Salmon here that my server, Demond recommended with added grilled shrimp. My wife and I went there for our anniversary on March 9th at 5 PM and while the food was pretty good it was the atmosphere that we found to be exceptional. Spent 290$ without a tip on dinner. We started with the mussels appetizer. I had a strip steak and petite lobster. Both were cooked to my liking and my wife had the 16 oz lobster which she liked very much. It was the Peppercorn demi-glaze on the steak and the side of crispy Brussel sprouts that stood out for me. I would return just for the Brussel sprouts they were that good. We finished with carrot cake and cheesecake which was too large a helping to finish. I had a Manhattan cocktail, smoked which was good but not worth $20. I also did not appreciate being billed $4.80 for 2 club sodas which are typically free everywhere else. It's nice to see such an establishment in east Akron as it got busy pretty quick. The service provided by Julie was very good so I left a $60 tip. We'll go back but will order plain water in the future. :) Mike read more

What a find! Lovely restaurant done in a cool speak easy feel. Romantic, dark and cozy. This is true fine dining. The food and service are absolutely amazing. Everyone from the host, server, manager was very attentive and caring. They were genuinely concerned about our experience. Relatively small menu featuring prime steaks, fresh seafood and pasta. As an appetizer, we had the calamari and the meatball. I am obsessed with the breading on the calamari, the meatball was huge and you know it was homemade. Salads were fine, bread was wonderful. Entrees we had the king crab legs, prime ribeye and the fruti da mare. The steak was honestly one of the best I've ever had. The da mare was good, crab legs outstanding. Dessert was ok, beignets were meh, saw a giant carrot cake at a other table, will get that next time. Justin, the wine som was knowledgeable and did not try to sell us the most expensive wine. The entrance is not a typical store front. It takes you to the back of the building which has a beautiful walk way leading to a Modern Stainless Steel Door. Once we entered we were pleasantly greeted by the front of house and the staff made you feel very welcome. Our waitress was excellent and new all the menu items and was giving all 8 of us Great service. The restaurant had a great atmosphere that was enhanced by the excellent food. Had the privilege to dine first time last night...beautiful ample patio and decor. Inside atmosphere inviting and sophisticated. All staff wearing masks and spacing 6 ft is followed. Owner Nick visited our table 3 times. Desiree, our server, was prompt and courteous and informed us off the many specials. Crisp Reisling and all satisfied with drinks. Our group ordered the Scallops, the Rib Eye, the Double Bone Pork Chop and a Wedge Salad with Shrimp Cocktail. Everyone very happy with taste and quality of all meals. Chocolate layer cake dessert can easily feed 3 per slice. My only suggestion is salads and sides were a little on the small side, and menu reading hard with sparse lighting. A friend and I dined here on a recent Saturday evening. Right now it is reservation only and they do have a small outside patio area where we sat. We split mussels and brussel sprouts for an appetizer and our entrees were the scallops and the double cut pork chop. Everything was amazing and I will definitely be back to try new things! The night we went there were 2 birthday parties going on so it seems to be popular for a special event. My only complaint is that the baked potatoes were not ready as someone didn't put them in early. The wine pour was generous as well,, always a good thing. If you are a penny pincher then this is NOT the place for you, items were pricey but, to me, totally worth it for a very nice meal with friendly service. Don't forget to tip well!! read more
